We had breakfast at the Oak Tree twice during our stay in Ashland; both times, the food was good and the service was excellent - our order was taken quickly, beverages were delivered promptly and kept filled up, and it only took 15 minutes or so from order to delivery. Our server was helpful, cheerful, and prompt; my wife asked for a breakfast made up of a couple of side orders (eggs and fruit) and the server priced in a discount so the cost was the same as a 2-egg breakfast would have been. It has taken me years to ultimately come to the Oak Tree restaurant. I guess I have been less inspired to try what I thought would be a hotel restaurant just off the I-5 exit. How good could it be? Well, now I'm wishing I could have discovered this place earlier, as it's actually a hidden gem in the area, specifically for breakfast. We started our experience with very welcoming service, and service throughout the experience was friendly and helpful. We have found this to be true, in fact, after multiple visits. On one brunch visit, my wife ordered their chilaquiles, and I ordered the chicken fried steak, which is a breakfast favorite of mine at other locations. We were both quite happy with what we received. The chilaquiles were well sauced with excellent flavors and ingredient balance across all of the common elements. They did a really great job, and it would definitely be a reorder in the future. The chicken fried steak, served with a fresh biscuit and ample sausage gravy, was superb value and also delivered. I did find the gravy a touch peppery for my taste, but that was my only real complaint. Portion size was great, and the biscuit is truly top-notch. I have since returned for the biscuits and gravy, and it's definitely a highlight. On a separate visit, we tried their Huevos Rancheros, and it's the best we've found around town. So, a lot of hits to be discovered on the menu. If you're in this area of town, or even if you're not, the Oak Tree is a great place if you are looking for a nice diner experience, especially for breakfast. We go there for the smoked wings. Today they tasted smoked but were fried. Not sure why they changed but won't be back for those. The guacamole and salsa with chips is very good. We regularly come here so we all get exactly what we want. This should be THE PLACE to go for your salad cravings! The Chef Salad for $13.99 is large (think big bear diner) and the crispy romaine lettuce was absolutely jam packed with so many toppings that it is a full meal. I'm sure you could make special requests and substitutions, but I like it just as their standard chef salad. Comes topped with a very generous helping of Turkey, Ham, 2 kinds of shredded cheese, cucumbers, mushrooms, olives, chopped tomatoes, and a hard boiled egg. For $13.99 I think that are breaking even. Next time I'll give their mediterranean spinach salad with grilled chicken a try. The people in the booth next to us ordered it and it looked Delicious. Excellent Value. I think they are known for their all american breakfast menu. The Oak Tree Classic is the standard 2 eggs, toast or biscuits, choice meat, hashbrowns for $12.99. We subsituted the toast for a single big azz pancake (+$1) and substituted the hashbrowns for fresh fruit (+$1). So the big azz breakfast "the classic" came to $1499 and it was very filling for a hungry guy with a breakfast craving. Ya know, one thing that will always bring me back (at least for a second time) is a beyond phenomenal wait staff!! We made a long trek from Northern California (Sonoma county) and we arrived at our hotel about a half hour early. With full bladders, we were told to use the restrooms at the restaurant since we couldn't check in early. The afternoon waitstaff was absolutely top notch and so kind in letting us use their facilities. Everything was clean and the restaurant had some super cool decor. After checking in at the hotel and hangin out in the pool for awhile, we decided food was necessary so we went back to the restaurant. The wait staff, again, was phenomenal!! Our server (Spencer) went above and beyond as did the sweet woman working with him. The food was pretty good but honestly, what I personally ordered was nothing overly special. However, what is going to send me back a second time was the fact that my daughter had mentioned she didn't feel well (we found out later she just needed to burp) and the woman working, out of nowhere, gave us a few bags of crackers and a small sprite to take with us. This, to me, was above and beyond (as was our server giving my daughter the small amount of leftover milkshake from my nephew's order, complete with whipped cream). This made it worth it and will take us back again in a few days. Also, as an added bonus, each table has a small blue mug of trivial pursuit cards. I actually decided too eat here and do a review because the rating didn't seem consistent with what I remembered from my one previous visit. First off: this is solid American standard food. It's just off the highway, attached to a hotel, and uses the basic "US Foods" supply. This is NOT my usual choice of place to eat. If you're after the "sustainable/local" type of place, this isn't it. This is where old guys meet for morning coffee and chat. The previous poor reviews were basically focused on the cooking and service, so let's start there: I ordered the corned beef hash. It was interestingly done, with a fair amount of fine julienned red onions. Unexpected.....but very mild, and it added a lot. If I'd slathered it wIth the hollandaise that I'd considered, it would have been quite exceptional. (But hollandaise DOES that!). The side biscuit was a surprise.......it was the rare sort that manages to combine chewy and soft. Not your average crumbly "homemade" style at all. I'm a bit sad I got all churchy and upgraded to the hash, as the biscuit and gravy is likely worth it! Now, the service: my expectations are pretty simple.....I don't need overattentive.......just be pleasant, keep my water and coffee full, and get my order right. After the previous reviews, I was expecting something kinda horrid..... Far from it. The two efficIent ladies who tended the place were FLYING around. I was trying to challenge them a bit......because the coffee was actually pretty strong and tasty......but, try as I might, I couldn't outpace them. So: if you're in the market for some very decent "American Diner" kinda food, with some novel presentation, and excellent service, this should top your list! I'm going for full stars, not because it's exceptional fare........it's not fair to say that about diner food, IMHO......but it's solidly five stars for quality of service and novel presentation/execution. read more

Very kid friendly, the whole menu for them is actable all day. For dinner the kids had the Mac & cheese, Kraft, not my jam but they liked it. For breakfast the pancakes. The pancakes are sweet cream which was a nice sweet touch. Oldest had nachos - they are gigantic, but good. Breakfast he had the eggs Benedict. He enjoyed it, had a nice flavor kick with fresh parsley. Husband had the chef salad for dinner & the biscuits with gravy for breakfast. All was to be expected. Nothing too special, but enjoyable. I had the chicken taco salad for dinner & the oatmeal for breakfast. The chicken salad was soo good! It was over mixed greens, the rub on the chicken was so flavorful. The salad was served with a whole avocado. The dressing was more like a chipotle dip, like one of the herb packs you add to sour cream & Mayo. It was soo good.
