We came to Luna for breakfast at 8:40 am on a Sunday morning. There was one person ahead of us in line, and we ordered about 8:45am. The cashier didn't say anything about the wait time, and I didn't think to ask. I even tipped 20% at the register (my usual practice). Our food arrived 45 minutes later. I only saw three or four orders being delivered to tables during that time (one table had 6 people sitting and waiting). I guess they're understaffed; I decided not to contribute further to their workload during our visit. We went across the street to the Oak Tree for breakfast the rest of our time at the Ashland Hills - they had real table service with a cheerful waitress and it took 15 minutes from order to delivery. For what it's worth, the food at Luna was pretty good - but definitely not worth the wait. read more

This was a lovely little coffee shop in Ashland. It was in a local hotel on the first floor and they had a full service bar and looked to have good options for food, though I didn't get to try them. I will just say that it was a hard ordering experience, I ordered multiple times and had to repeat myself and still had a drink come out wrong. But everything was delicious! read more

The food here is not too bad. Breakfast sandwich is the way to go because the real eggs, thick cut bacon, and the toasted bread was absolutely divine. The parfait was also delicious and the fruit was super fresh. I do like the vanilla Greek yogurt that was in there as well. The servers were great to talk to as well. Great help with choosing what to order if you're indecisive. Doing really feel like a hotel lobby bar since there's outside seating where you can enjoy the views of the Ashland hills. read more

Located in the Ashland Hills Hotel, the cafe is spacious and has great seating options. We ordered the Luna bowl which was so good. The eggs with goat cheese and spinach were delicious! This restaurant misses the mark but not by much. My few days staying at the hotel I ordered the same dish, but it's wasn't the same, almost entirely different. The dinner menu was heavy, not a lot of light options. The lady with the colored hair behind the bar was probably the worst bartender we've ever experienced. Our breakfast staff was fantastic! And the breakfast was delicious! Our evening waitress, Summer?? Or Sunny?? She was amazing, and on top of everything we needed, extremely knowledgeable about the menu as well as the wine selection. We will definitely return, hoping there may be changes as that's what the staff commented on, was positive change is happening. We would recommend this hotel to our friends and family. read more

The Neuman Group recently sold the Ashland Hills Hotel. That burger was previously the BEST burger in town. Under new ownership, burger is "solid" but no longer that special. Bun is different. No special sauce. They would not fry the onions for me. I also miss all the GREAT desserts under the Neuman ownership. .. Mozzarella sticks and cold water were the highlights. Mozzarella sticks were just lightly breaded and mostly cheesy (yay!). Meatloaf was dry and literally burnt (I'm not sure how that happens unless they pan fried it to warm it up?), veggies were overdone and mushy, mashed potatoes were ok (altho it's pretty difficult to mess up mashed potatoes). Butter chicken was lacking flavor and spices. Main flavor of butter chicken is garam masala - not even a hint of it in this dish. The bar was completely out of Cabernet (by the glass or bottle). They have a separate fridge where one can buy other wines - almost empty. It feels like this place is going out of business. We tipped 20% on food and wine - and then found out they expect you to bus your own table. read more

Used to love Luna, but lately it seems to be going downhill. Just had a horrible meal that I could not eat; it was that bad. My lunch mate agreed. When I complained to the person at the counter, challenged me as to what was wrong. I asked her if she'd come to the table and I'll show her and she declined. She offered NO apology, NO refund. This was the singularly worse dining experience I've experienced in the past 25+ years. The counter was unattended when my wife and I, guests of the hotel in which the Cafe is housed, entered. After wait for 3-4 minutes, I yelled and got the attention of the counter person, hidden in the kitchen, and ordered our food and coffee. When the food arrived, the stuffed French toast was okay, but the reheated sausage links hadn't yet attained room temperature; the French toast was presented without syrup or jam, necessary because the "stuffing" was more a schmeer than stuffing -- I finished more than half a piece of toast before I was able to discern the faint citrus taste of filling. Oh yes, when I ordered the coffee, I asked for sweetners. When it was served, she brought only sugar packets. When I went to the counter and asked about sweetners, another counter person was confused for several moments before she pointed me to a variety of artificial sweetners. The owners have spent years developing this restaurant. Staff training appears to have taken a back seat to appearance rather than food quality and service. read more

We checked into the Ashland Hills Hotel late, so we decided to just pick up food from here rather than driving around Ashland for dinner. You can't miss this place as the retro turquoise Luna Cafe sign is right next to the main entrance to the hotel. The place looked modern and clean, and the staff were wearing mask. I even noticed one of them disinfecting around the register, so that's a good sign. No one helped us at first, but that was only because the lady at the register was taking a phone order and our stomachs were busy staring at the menu board. The two ladies working there actually were quite pleasant, helped us decide, and took our order. Here's a bit more about this little mercantile, as well as our food order: ~ So the mercantile side is more like a gift shop for the hotel. A place you can buy local homemade swag. Or post cards, t-shirts, and other Oregon souvenirs. ~ Lots of local beers and wines to choose from. They're located in the cooler next to the register or in the fridge. Can't miss it. ~ The menu board has a variety of choices from Sandwiches, Salads, House Made Sweets, Burgers, Plates, and Pizzas. ~ There also was another guy there, picking up and running orders for room service calls. Our Plates (of course, in a to-go box due to covid): ~ Smoked Pork Mac & Cheese ($16)... This was mac mixed with broccolini, pieces of pork, topped with toasted bread crumbs, and a drizzle of their house BBQ sauce. And yes, this was A LOT goin' on! I know it's their creation, but I would've just had the pork chunks sit on top of the mac and I can do without the BBQ sauce. It was definitely filling. ~ Meatloaf ($17)... with a gin-mushroom gravy which was simply tasty goodness! My pic doesn't make it look appealing, but believe me it was. The sides along with it were the Yukon gold mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies which were also delectable. I'd order this loaf again. In closing, it's sad seeing this place with empty tables and chairs. I can imagine how busy it must've been with hotel events, as it seems like a chill kind of place. But I am glad I found this place, as it's a decent rest stop especially if you're passing through Ashland. read more

Since the cafe is connected to the hotel, you can have food delivered to your room at for an extra fee or you can pick it up or eat in the outdoor or indoor dining area. We were road-tripping through Oregon and stopped at the attached hotel for a restroom break. I noticed how cute the restaurant looked (a bit retro?), so we decided to have a bite to eat. I ordered the pizza with blue cheese and grilled onions, a cocktail, and a slice of cake from the counter. The service was a bit slow for the amount of people dining. None of the food or drinks were worth writing home about. The pizza was a bit burnt, but we ate it all because we were hungry. Wow. I'm not sure what's going on, but in an incredibly short period of time Luna has gone from one of Ashland's hidden gems to a place I would never recommend to anyone. The food quality has gone down drastically at the same time as a menu change introduced substantially higher priced items while removing some personal favorites (the flatbread pizzas were excellent, and I was told the dough was house made). Half of their new appetizer menu is clearly coming directly out of a Sysco truck, and I'm pretty sure that's the case for the freezer burned dessert selection as well. I hope whoever is responsible for these changes realizes what a horrible mistake they've made and changes course, but at the rate they are going, I'm not sure that they will have any customers left to notice if that did happen. Omg yes! This place was exceptional! My boyfriend & I stayed at the Ashland Hills Hotel and went here for dinner the night we checked in and we had a great experience! The bacon burger is to die for! Cooked to perfection! The burgers are automatically cooked medium so if that's not your thing, be sure to ask for well done. They also didn't skimp on the fries like most places do, we had a great size portion. The side of ranch I requested had incredible flavor. The dining area was very clean and cozy. The window seat is our fave! The customer service here was also immaculate. I love when the employees are really happy and hospitable it makes the experience 10x better. This place was very interesting to me. Maybe because I am not used to towns being super empty feeling. But my boyfriend and I stopped here for a snack on our way to California. The first thing I notice is how quiet and empty it is. This place seemed to be attached to a hotel, which also seemed super empty. There were maybe 4 people inside when we got there, and this place is hugeeee so it made it feel even more funny. What we ordered: - Olive, artichoke, pesto and cheese pizza - Cesar salad The pizza was ok, the cheese tasted a bit grainy, and was a bit oily, but it was still decent The Cesar tasted fish (my boyfriend said original Cesar's have sardines in them) but I have never in my life had a Cesar that had fish or tasted like fish, which this one did. It had such a heavy taste of sardines that I couldn't eat more then 4 bites :/ Overall i would say this place is pretty average. Dinner here was good. Everyone was happy. Staff was friendly & helpful. Food was served in a timely fashion. I ordered the kale & brussel salad, with the brisket strew & rosemary bread. The salad was amazing! The goat cheese crumble across the top made every bite creamy & delicious. Too many hazelnuts for me, but they were easy to pick off. The mango dressing was perfect. Not too strong & not too much. It came tossed & I was nervous, I like light dressing, no soup, not dripping, it was the perfect amount. The stew was mostly potatoes, that was a bit of a letdown, but I just picked them out & ate the rest. Compared to the salad the stew was very bland. I did not taste any rosemary in the bread, but it was nice to dip in the stew. Husband ordered the chicken pizza. It was very good. The cheese is on top of what would normally be the toppings. It was a nice change. Kept the veggies underneath fresh. The crust is thin. 3/4 kids had cheese pizza. All ate all 4 pieces. Oldest kiddo had the BLT with a side salad. He only ate 1/2, it is an adult portion. It was very tasty, had a basil sauce on it. Made it unique. I'm not a huge BLT person, but my bite was surprisingly good. His side salad looked very good, it was the apple candied walnut salad. He seemed to enjoy it very much. read more

The chicken tikka was fine but the calamari was too deep fried and the pasta primavera is just a regular tomato sauce pasta with 5-6 pieces of shrimp.
