I went with a friend a year ago when their dog needed annual shots and was impressed with the staff because the dog is quite temperamental and is extremely difficult with new people. So I booked Fritz's annual appointment and we were on our way. The lobby is quite large which I like because it makes check in and filling out paperwork easier especially if there are multiple animals waiting on rooms or to be seen. Check in was easy and they were super prompt in getting us into a room. The room was also spotless. Everything was very clean in the facility. The Tech and the Vet who saw Fritz were both very patient and friendly. Fritz is a bit nervous around new people but they fed him plenty of treats and he thawed a bit. The staff was in no rush and were attentive, receptive to any questions or concerns, and most importantly to me-patient with the animal they were tending to. My other doggo Sam will be needing shots in the next month or so and I will definitely be returning.

We've had to work through several medical issues (i.e., reduced kidney function, diabetes, arthritis, and hyperthyroid issues). However, due to the care and treatment they've received both our old girls are still going strong at 19! Good proactive care does cost some money but it is well worth it. Animals with even challenging conditions can continue to lead happy lives with proper treatment. Our two kitties are proof of that. Dr. Peuser and Olathe Animal Hospital are fantastic. I can't recommend them highly enough!

The receptionists were nice and attentive and the doctor's assistant was great getting my pet ready for her annual exam. When the doctor came in she was also very nice and really wanted to know about the history of my pet. We had shots to do and another assistant came in just to try to calm my little one down (even though she didn't really need it) and massaged her head during the whole procedure. I had several questions about a potential medical concern with my pet and I was given excellent advice and she did some additional checks for me. I'll definitely be back if I continue to get this kind of service.

The front desk HUNG UP ON ME when I tried to clear up an issue. I called again to speak with the staff manager. He handled it beautifully and I got an appointment that day. After getting the med I needed, I went to check out, the same young lady who hung up on me came to assist with follow up appointments. I told her I did not want to do a follow up on the appointment (I felt it is unnecessary, as is my prerogative) but I did want to go ahead with vaccinations for my 5 pets. She tensed up when I told her I did not want a follow up, she then just stopped, got up and left her post. The manager came back to complete the transaction. At that point I felt no need to go to this clinic when there are so many others to choose from. I will never go back. What a shame what they did to a fine clinic I once loved.

It should be noted that I'm trained as a veterinary nurse, but in the large animal world: repair a prolapsed uterus for a pig, C-section a cow in the field, help a lame horse ... that sort of stuff. But my pet moggie, nope. Still, I can recognise expert knowledge and care when I encounter it, and such is quite certainly the case with DS Vet Clinic. They did not attempt to run up the tab, when they very easily could have done so. Instead, an honest evaluation, and situationally-appropriate treatment, and good professional guidance. These folks are well worth a 30-mile drive from any direction. Based on my experience, personally I'd drive 50 miles to work with them. Yes, they are that good.

In my dog's case she tore her tplo (ccl for humans) as a result of chasing a squirrel. Operation, therapy, $6,000 and 2 years later, thanks to an exam by Dr Smith I took her to a rehab center where they examined both legs and recommended sedative radiographs. So back to Dr. Smith. I now know Birdie lacks cartilage in tplo leg, other leg is fine. No more 30 minute off leash runs or running the stairs to play fetch. By the way, the staff is 5 stars.
