I was just passing through on 7/12/25 and had a couple hours to kill so I stopped here just for a drink. Had a good G+T and eventually got hungry. The sandwich was very good! Ordered mine hot and it came out toasty but the veggies weren't hot which I appreciated so much! Warm sammy and crisp veggies! The only lady working had a full bar but still seemed very attentive to both regulars and bypassers at the bar and in booths! Good job girl! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also appreciated a classic dive bar feel but the Oakland Tavern was clean and welcoming with a diverse age range of people from 21-75![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Meatball sandwich and Mexican meatball soup.

Great place for sandwiches and soup. The meatball sandwich is excellent. Flavorful. Soups are filling. Worth a stop after running errands or a hike! Servers and barkeep are friendly.

This is a very small local bar and it seems like everybody knows each other. As a new resident in Oregon, I don't feel very comfortable staying there. It gives me the exclusive vibe. The foods are good but not great. They have very limited selection of sandwiches and the salad was running out ingredients while we were there

Love this place! It's so rad! Had some great food and drinks. Fun time to just relax!

Oh America! This is dive bar nirvana. No watering hole of the humble sort can touch this place. So many places try way too hard to be a bonafide dive bar, but end up being a hipster style counterfeit joint. Not the case here. This has every element that makes you just want to hunker down and watch, well, ANY sports event they have rolling on the screen, or shoot pool with the gang, or eat peanuts from the shell and cast the shells upon the floor. There is the obligatory Thirsty Thursday $2 Hamms pounder, but there are micro brews at $4.50 a pint. The Oakland Tavern is decidedly unlike the overtly precious joints that charge $5.75 for 12 oz. For all you math types that's $7.67 a pint. Pffft! Super friendly servers and an overall jolly place to be. The food is rumored to be extra good. I think they even serve people from southern C******#&!.

Best loved Bloody Mary ever!

Best tuna and Reuben sandwiches that we've had in years! Highly recommend. Wonderful historic stop on the road from Portland to Ashland.

They wanted to take us to Skog's for brunch but they were closed during the day and only open for dinner. However, their other business Turkey Hall was open and we decided to stop in. Oakland, OR is a small little town that's great for antiques and the local Roseburg residents are very familiar with their food. It's a small town, everyone knows a everything. When someone new arrives and opens a business, everyone knows about it or has already gone there. Turkey Hall and Skog's is a family business and they are originally from Nevada with roots in Northern California. I asked if they have their website up and they are currently working on it. Their son took our order and was friendly/courteous. Since we had breakfast at home, we kept it light with some cheese bread and a bottle of wine. There were also breakfast (pastries/coffee options) as well as a buffet pasta lunch while we were there. I can see this place as an event venue (i.e., private parties) or a place that can host live music/entertainment. There are two stages (small outdoor and an indoor stage). PJ who handles the entertainment is the person to contact to book your band. I am in awe with the decor: hardwood, motorcycles and chandeliers, a rifle for a door handle. Also there are a couple of non-working slot machines to pay homage to their NV roots. I really enjoyed the outdoor area. It connects both Turkey Hall and Skogs for outdoor dining, but it's well shaded and a great place to relax and enjoy company. There is a full bar and a wine bar section. There's a lot of good things, I hope it's not too much of a good thing. I hope to come back and visit a once they are in full swing but since they are brand spanking new, I give them props for starting out.

You want an excellent, tender, as good as any bullshit upscale restaurant rib eye? You are going to get that on Friday night steak night. You want a thick, flavorful, real beef burger? They've got you covered. Some of the best burgers in southern Oregon, by the way. They also have a very fine steelhead sandwich, tender and moist. You want an okay salad, basic weekend breakfast? Check. Strong, basic drinks? Check. You want skilled wait staff that work their asses off but still get you and your pals taken care of? Double check. I moved out along the River one year ago and discovered the Narrows shortly after. While I may be one if those progressive, feminist, environmentalist, mask wearing transplant types, I knew I had arrived when Jenna, Cris, and the gang began greeting me by name when I walked through the door and also remembering my orders. Yep. If you can get past yourself long enough to chat with the locals you learn some interesting things, make some colorful friends, hear some memorable stories. Like the time a guy showed up to rob the joint, pulled his handgun out of his pocket, demanded cash, and instead found himself facing a formidable crowd, every one of whom had pulled their own guns on him to protect their beloved bartender. 911 was called. Everyone ordered another round. The night went on. Yep. You're at the historical Narrows along the North Umpqua River. Behave yourself and have a good time. Pool tables, outdoor heated seating, plenty of those frisking annoying video poker machines and sports televisions if you're that type.

We had two orders of steak,, it was so tender and had great flavor, one Philly steak sandwich,, also so very good and the fries were awesome, and one Mushroom/swiss burger that was also wonderful.
