Looking for a top 3 beer in the PNW? Well, here you go! I will seek out most any Great Notion style brew but I'm partial to their Hazy IPAs and their sours. It's no secret and there's no denying why this brewery continues to bring home gold medals for their different styles. They are 100% dialed in on what it takes to make good beer. As far as the interior space, it's pretty much industrial standard. Better than a warehouse but really just a no frills space to down some delicious cold beer. If I'm being honest, I don't come here for food because they mostly have pizza I believe and for my money their are better places to grab a slice. Pizza Thief operates within the facility, making timely, awesome pizza to go with a full menu of bevs. The house-made sodas have great branding, and there is always a creative NA on tap, which I so appreciate (not to mention canned). We decided to go to the second location of Great Notion to see what they had on draft for us to try that the Alberta location did not. We knew there was one specifically for me that we wanted to try as they have wonderful sours. This location is much different than the Alberta location, as in it is more corporate and newer with the same type of artwork, but a completely different feel. That is not a bad thing, just different. We shared a burger and fries which was typical for brewery food but as it was a burger doesn't mean their other food isn't amazing. When using the restroom, I noticed that they had these signs on the back of the doors and walls that showed that if there was any issues with maybe someone that you're with or somebody harassing you that there were drinks that you could order in a specific way that would tell the staff on what kind of assistance you needed. I honestly had never seen anything like that in all of the breweries and bars, I had been to in my life, but Ben said that he was aware of them. Great Notion is a staple that I always try to visit when I'm in Oregon. They have a wide variety of beer, they do have a good option, and the service is always great. The taproom is large and has lots of seating. It's clean and I love the art on the wall which mirrors the artwork on the beer. Since they have so many beers that all sound amazing, I like to order a flight so that I can sample several. On my most recent visit I tried the Passionfruit Mochi, Muchies, Tigers Blood, Mr. French, and Super Ripe. All were super good but my favorite was Munchies-an Imperial Stout with a kitchen sink of flavors like cacao nibs, peanuts, marshmallows, pretzels, potato chips, caramel, peanut butter cup, and graham cracker. Came here for the Pizza Week special, the Desayuno. A hearty Sicilian Style pizza topped with some of your typical breakfast ingredients, this pizza was pretty good, albeit a bit greasy. The setup here is also great. They have a spacious outdoor area with a bunch of seats facing the street to enjoy the sun. Inside they have good sized TV's, plenty of tables and ample bar seating. This was a last-minute idea to come here for dinner and to hang out. The interior is spacious with open area. We liked that Pizza Thief was serving food here (a bit different from their original place - Sicilian style pizza). We ordered a cheese pizza, wildwood with fennel sausage pizza, kale salad, a classic Italian sandwich, and some French fries. The pizza was great as usual. I would say that it's pretty filling after one slice. We also had some drinks, but I enjoyed their Bubbs Blueberry & Sicilian Lemon seltzer the most that I bought some to take home with me. I was in for a surprise with the seasonal draft menu. I really enjoyed the queen of fruits, which was a tarty ale brewed with loads of tropical passionfruit, mango, and mangosteen. I loved the sourness and fragrance of the fruits. I also ordered the blueberry muffin smoothie, which is a fan favorite. Cans are available in store too. There's a pizza parlor called pizza thief with vegan and gluten free options. Very crispy dough. The vegan special was worth it for $22 with all the greens that you can consume in one meal. We just made a quick stopover at this brewery! My family, who are local, said this place is super popular by the locals! As the local appreciate the new releases from the brewery! The brewery offers a long list of beers, sours (including a blueberry sour) and a couple ciders! Plus there are some non alcoholic drinks for designated drivers or under age drinkers! I would bring out of town guests here to show off their quality microbrews & represent Portland. Portland, Oregon is a town known for a good microbrews & good food. I enjoyed their pub style food: fries with pulled pork on top of it. Flavorful food that is contending in the pub food arena. Keep in mind some of the flavorful food might compete against the beer on your palette. So I like to get a taste of the beer before the food arrives. My focus is on the superior beers: Quality taste with different fanciful varietals. For Portland beers I would definitely bring an out of town guest here. People from California come all the way in to try these beers. Beer lovers come this way! It's a great idea: a great notion. The service was prompt and polite. The parking is outdoor with surrounding warehouses. The parking lot makes you feel like you're a little out-of-the-way, but I think that adds to the experience. First time visit! I traveled from a hotel by bus and the GPS is a little weird but finally found it behind other warehouses! Once you're inside, it is absolutely beautiful and bright. I saw there was a food menu but I only drank beer. I sat at the bar and everyone was so nice and super quick to help. You can order full pour, half pour, or five oz tasters. I ordered a flight of five sours. The sours are very good! I also love the flight box. I've never seen an easier way to carry a flight back to your table. In order, I tried Blueberry Muffin, Blueberry Muffin Fruit in the Can, Evil Red, Possessed, Queen of Fruits. My absolute favorite was Blueberry Muffin Fruit in the Can. Heard great things about their sour beer, so had to to give it a shot while I was in town. Came with some friends who aren't a huge fan of engaging with staff, so their use of a QR code was fantastic! At this (flagship?) location, it is a fairy small tasting room, although the menu for the beer and kitchen was quite satisfactory in terms of options. They were out of the blueberry muffin beer that I was excited about, but I did get three tastings of other beers and tried the burger as well. Be aware that the burger patties are very thin, although decent in flavor (a bit overdone, but they are thin). I really liked the fried fries (calorie bomb alert though). The sour beers were.... Decent. However, I'm a huge fan of "make your face pucker" sours and these did not. So, if you like a light sour, you'll enjoy. Otherwise, be aware these are not that strong. Our food came out within minutes. Very happy with beer and food. As far as the brewery goes, this is one of my favorite breweries in town for the variety of beer and the delicious sours they offer! I love the atmosphere here and love going to trivia here. They recently switched their food to pizza thief which was a little disappointing because their old food menu was amazing but pizza thief is also very good. They also used to let you order from the table and bring it to you and now you have to go to the bar to order drinks and then to a separate kiosk to order food. Not a huge deal but a little inconvenient when you're trying to hang out with friends and play trivia. Overall though, the beer options are so good I will keep coming back! read more

Once again, a fabulous trip to one of my favorite breweries in Portland. Plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. Some TVs for sports. It is kid friendly with kids menu and beverages. Order by QR code which I love, easy and quick and you can always keep the beers coming.! The beers are fantastic and innovative. Constantly rotating and plenty of options. We are visiting Oregon from Las Vegas for the rest of this month and we stopped by Great Notion straight from the airport to grab a bite to eat and have a few beers. I was looking forward to getting my hands on real food after a 2 hour long plane ride. This brewery is located in a tiny business industrial park area. It's also a restaurant, so when you walk in you will have to wait for someone to guide you to your table. They also have an outdoor patio, which is very nice during the summer in Oregon. I really wanted to give them five stars, but unfortunately I had to give them a four. :( It looked like they were very understaffed because while it wasn't too busy when we were there, it took a very long time to get our beer flights and our food. Our server also gave us the wrong beer flight, when we told him about it, he corrected the problem and we got our correct flight. Our beer flight consisted of the following; peach and cream shake, strawberry shortcake, blueberry muffin, big papaya, and purple people eater. I liked them all but I think my favorites were the purple people eater and the strawberry shortcake. My boyfriend loved the strawberry shortcake beer so much that he requested a 4 pack to take with him. For food, I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and my boyfriend had a chicken sandwich, both served with fries. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich was very tender and had a lot of taste to it. My boyfriend liked his chicken sandwich as well. We'll definitely come back to Great Notion again next time we're in Portland. Great beer, great food, great service. read more
