For a restaurant that pride's itself on being "gluten friendly", I was disappointed in their options. According to their website, "Everything on our menus is either naturally gluten-free or can be made 100% allergy-free." However, that's not true at all. The three items we were excited to order couldn't be made gluten free: Pork Bao Buns, gnocchi, and the risotto. On top of that, everything was so overpriced considering they aren't even serving organic food. Overall, food reminded me of Yard House. Restaurant has a great atmosphere, but the menu was not everything it was hyped up to be, especially for those with gluten allergies. read more

We enjoyed a cocktail while waiting for friends to arrive. The usual horse shoe shaped bar is large and immediately at the front of the restaurant. Two bar tenders in uniform, black shirts and aprons were busy preparing drinks. The price of the wines we had was appropriate. Seated at a table in the back of the bar area we took our time reviewing the menu. A wide variety of dinner choices are available. We all chose fish dinners. The men had fish and chips that were well made and tasty. The women had salmon each saying it was delicious. We were never rushed we all had two drinks but skipped dessert. In summary the food was good not great, wait staff was friendly and never rushed us into ordering. There is one concern and it is not unique to the establishment. The background music is way too LOUD! It's music that should be just audible not loud so as to inhibit conversation. For that reason I'm sure we will never return to Oar & Iron. read more

Came for the first time on a Saturday at 11:30, the hostess said that they only serve the dinner menu on weekends. We were going to leave, as dinner wasn't what we wanted at 11:30am, however, we wanted to try the place, so decided to stay. The menu had salads, sandwiches and other smaller items that were perfect for lunch. The hostess is doing a disservice to the restaurant, as by her dismissive greeting and false information about the menu would turn people away! Came here to Oak & Iron for the first time tonight. Our server was Emily after having dinner here. I cannot wait to come back again. I had the New York strip with garlicmashed potatoes. My wife had the baked lobster tail my mother-in-law, the lobster roll, and my father-in-law had the Ahi tuna entree. We started our meal with lobster, bisque, seafood chowder and calamari the sauce that came with the calamari was sweet and delicious and paired great. The lobster bisque was nicely seasoned and delicious. The rest of our meal was spot on. There was a little bit of a wait for food but the place is packed, so completely understandable. I am definitely coming back for lunch to try out their lunch menu. I've heard many good things about their Philly cheesesteak. Oak & Iron is definitely fat guy approved! And remember, you could never trust a skinny chef. read more

Food good but overpriced. Ordered a $17 cocktail that literally looked like a snowcone there was so much crushed ice. We piled the excess ice onto an appetizer plate so we could actually drink the liquid. Our waiter did a nice job and was very pleasant. Not sure they got the right management. First visit a few weeks ago and they were out of our first three choices at 630 on a Friday night. Went again last week. All our food was very good but something way wrong in the kitchen. Very long wait. The manager himself brings our food but forgot the asparagus. Went tonight and sat at the bar and thought we should give this place a second try. To start, they had zero IPAs and all Cabernet Sauvignon. Completely out of both. After 10 minutes we had to flag down someone to take our order even though a server standing five feet away - talking to women he was trying to pick up for 20 minutes. I ordered salmon and Caesar salad and they never put in the salmon order and so it arrived 15 minutes after they brought the salad. They didn't take anything off the bill. They just opened, so I'm giving grace. Lots of potential here. The server was very stiff, awkward and brand new. Answering questions, reading the atmosphere, date night, etc. very awkward! Our grilled mahi was raw in the middle, and I didn't eat it. They were very gracious and offered dessert as it was an honest mistake. Restaurant 101 is that you temp it (thermometer check) when in doubt. I will be back. The interior is beautiful, fresh and new... just some kinks to work out!! read more

Made our third trip to O and A last evening and it was far from a charm. Seated right away and waited 20 minutes for wait staff. Another 20 for a cocktail. The wait staff and kitchen appears to be completely overwhelmed. Two of us ordered the Fish and Chips. Very good flavor and coating but seems that they have made it a children's portion. Much smaller than it was two weeks ago! We did speak to the manager and he did buy us a round of drinks. Appreciated but we did not go there for free cocktails. We have all decided to take an extended break from Oar and Iron. Perhaps in a few months they will work out some of the issues. read more

if I could give zero stars I would. Local resident, went to dinner 1/26/24 with friends. We had a table of 5, outside with a view of the dumpster. Our waiter was nice enough. However drinks and food took forever! Lobster bisque served luke warm, sent back and returned no hotter. Meals took well over an hour, food was not worth the wait. Manager tried to make us feel better with drinks we didn't want, 3 hours into our ordeal they removed 3 of the 5 meals. the Waiter dropped the check and never returned, literally another 1/2 hour. Asked for Medium rare strip, received it well done. Also broccolini was ice cold. They redid my steak and brought it to me raw. Told the manager it was raw, and she said "so you need it cooked more"? The food i tried from each my family members, all were bland and unflavored. The best thing we tried that night was the wings appetizer. The atmosphere and finishes inside were tastefully done and we enjoyed sitting in a booth right in front of the hot line. Several managers asked how everything was and checked on our table. We never went without water or drinks. Food was excellent. Oysters, mahi mahi, and scallops. The succotash surprised us and we would have it again. Excellent service. We were seated promptly even though the restaurant was packed. The restaurant has a nice open kitchen concept and was very clean. The food was outstanding! Our friends had the lobster bisque soup, pork Mac&cheese and the scallops. All entrees were very good and beautifully presented. We had the muscles, pear and Brie flatbread and the octopus. Everything was amazing and cooked to perfection. I would prefer a.hearty sauce with the muscles but that is a personal choice. The only problem with the muscles was that some of them were a bit grainy. That is not the fault of the restaurant though. They have a full bar with a nice selection of wine, beer and cocktails. read more

William was a fantastic and personable server. highly recommend asking for him. the restaurant is very helpful when it comes to allergies. grandson is allergic to eggs and the chef, manager, and William took great care with not only his meal but also telling us any of any items we ordered had egg so we knew to wash hands immediately after eating and not cross contaminate when interacting with him. Saw the segment the Phantom Gourmet did on Oar and Iron and we knew we had to try it. It did not disappoint. They have large booths, high top tables and a nice outdoor space with TVs outside. We sat at the bar, which is huge with 25-30 seats. Big TVs at the bar so we could watch the game. Our bartender was Alicia and she was awesome! She was very attentive and made a delicious Aperol spritz. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and had personally tried many of the items. She answered our questions honestly. My husband, who always gets seafood when we go out, had the half roasted chicken with Brussel sprout and mashed potatoes. He said his meal was delicious. I don't normally get hamburgers out but theirs was a mix of brisket, short rib and chuck so I decided to try it. It was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and was one of the best burgers I've had ever had out. I got the shoestring fries with it. There were so many other things we could've tried on the menu so cannot wait to go back. One suggestion I would make is they have a steak and cheese sub on the lunch menu and I wish it were also on the dinner menu as well. The only sandwiches they have at dinner were burgers. It would've been nice to have other options. Oh and the music played throughout the restaurant is awesome. read more
