We had to sit at the counter which was fine, the upstairs is reserved for a different work force that they also cater to I believe. The coffee was good and the fancy avo toast I got was also good. Since the cashier attendant knew I didn't want cheese on my toast she said she'd also make sure they didn't put real butter on the bread, not sure if that was followed or not but I didn't get an upset tummy and I enjoyed my meal.

We double-checked with our waitress, and unfortunately the dressing does contain anchovies. Fish is, alas, still an animal. Vegetarian generally means no meat or fish, while lacto-ovo vegetarians still eat dairy and eggs. Definitely not a dealbreaker, but the menu labeling could use a small correction so fellow vegetarians don't get overly excited about their Caesar prospects. The atmosphere was cozy with dim lighting and a really comfortable feel. At one point some questionable country music came on, but the universe apparently heard our distress and the playlist miraculously switched to rock. Crisis averted. Overall, delicious food, lovely service, great atmosphere, and plenty for vegetarians. We'll absolutely be back because the bruschetta still needs ordering. Highly recommend!

We walked in because the sidewalk board was still out and the sign on the door stated they were open until 10:00 PM. Upon entering, the bartender acknowledged us and then simply continued cleaning. After about 5 minutes, she went to the kitchen and came back out to inform us that they were closing early and we needed to go to another establishment. This is the second time I have been turned away here. Honestly, I would not recommend a restaurant that advertises it is open and then turns paying customers away.

Tried it for a second time..... And once again, 1 star. Actually to be honest, I actually think yelp needs to add a negative star. Needless to say the food was bland! Almost a sense of "dirty dish water" I think would taste better than this. Seriously, just skip this place. The food is aweful, the place kind of smelled like a zoo and I honestly thought I saw rejected porn star there. There is better in the neighborhood, so just good to those places. And now, because I have posted this review, the owner/manager is now engaged in trying to strongarm into changing it. Claims something about some beating me with a huffington post? I refuse to bow to some bully tactic, I gave the place 2 chances when in Minnesota and they failed both times, sir! I refuse to bow to a probable liberal thug like you! This is America and I have the freedom of speech! I recently have seen some comment that was complained by what I can conceive is an owner. He got angry because he has negative press or something. Either case, I'm a truck driver. I get around and get to sample from different areas of the country. But in any regards if you are having press issues for whatever reason, maybe you should strive to have a cleanlier environment and top notch grub so you don't have that negativity on your business as well. I tried your place TWICE! I always give a place another try in the case that it was not just a fluke (I understand bad things happen and people can just have bad days) but once again, I left the restaurant.... The same as before. I'm shocked you don't have a lot of dogs around there, because seriously I now know why dogs lick their testicles, to get the flavor of the food out of their mouths. read more

Unlike the one-star raters posting negative reviews to protest the owner's political views, I actually ate at this restaurant at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9th and have the receipt to prove it. Food was tasty and served hot. Portions were generously large. Prices were average for a cafe in a marina town. Service was average for a place packed full and our table of seven ordered steak and eggs, Mexican omelet, sausage over biscuits, a varied order that takes longer to prepare. The wait staff was running flat out to keep up, nobody's coffee got cold, hot sauce appeared immediately when requested - they were doing their best to handle the crowd. And it was a crowd. The nay-sayers posting 1-star reviews from Oregon and Washington, DC hope to drive this place out of business but when the owner's wife stopped at our table to check on our meals, she said their volume was slightly up lately. As it should be, this is a good place to eat. Does it deserve a 5-star rating? Well, objectively, no, it should be a 4. Except I must factor in the 1-star ratings from people who've never eaten here but are dragging down the average rating for spite. So 5 it is. read more

Owner is a jerk. Will never return. I wouldn't even give it a star but had to put down one so this posts. Just like other reviews I've seen here, this guys all about making money - not about customer service - and he really enjoys sharing that with his customers. Went in on a Sunday morning about 9am by myself. He saw me standing there BY MYSELF and said "I'll be with you in a minute". After about a minute in a half, he came up and asked me "how many?" - I had been standing there so long that he should have figured out it was just me. He had 2 open tables, and the counter was full. He said "I don't have spot for you - on the weekends I we (meaning "I") only seat tables with parties of 2 or more. I looked at him and walked out the door as he said, with an attitude, "I'm sorry". Well Mr. Owner , I'm done. I have recommended and brought you close to $1000 of biz over the years but NO MORE! And I have a news flash for you. You better milk that cow as hard as you can. When the new Stillwater bridge opens up, and you lose 99% of your forced traffic flow, I give you 6 months before you're on welfare. Put that on your grill and cook it. read more

The Oasis is a great diner that serves awesome breakfasts and burgers. The staff is always super friendly and they work to get everyone seated and served very fast even on busy weekend mornings. The recent negative reviews the Oasis has been getting lately DO NOT reflect actual business interactions and are nothing but ignorant slander based on spiteful political motives and have NOTHING to do with the food nor the service, which are exemplary. Go ahead and do not give your business to someone who you know nothing about but feel all knowing based on a slanted paragraph in some article... But to give a negative review of something based on such while never actually going to the business is slander, immoral, and illegal. The Oasis Café is a place where people get along and make you feel like family, all the while serving great meals at reasonable prices. I have not seen one justifiably poor review on yelp nor anywhere else because they simply do not deserve them. 5 STARS!!! read more

We're a mixed-race couple, have been to the Oasis Cafe many times within the past year, and each time we were greeted wonderfully by different staff members including the owner. Service was equally good, always pleasant. Staff members engaged. In a breakfast rush, an owner needs to maximize use of tables. If we ever had to wait, which we haven't, and we've been there at rush times, we would understand 2 people may wait for a 2-person table in that rush. Oasis Cafe in Stillwater is such a gem! It's family-owned, and you can feel the care in every part of the experience. We came with a large group, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, they even brought us water while we waited for our table, which was such a thoughtful touch. The breakfast options are top-tier, classic diner comfort with an elevated twist. The salads were fresh and flavorful, with large protein portions that really make them satisfying. When visiting Stillwater I stopped at this little cafe off Highway 95 between the old and new Stillwater bridge, the place is easy to miss if you're not looking for it but it is worth finding! I had the Chipolte Burger with fries (fruit was also an option) it had fresh avocados on it and was good, I like sauce so a bit more Chipoltle sauce but everything was good and I will go back! Just had my 5th breakfast. This is NOT your normal breakfast place. The cook has talent and the staff seems really nice. The coolest thing is the menu. Yes they have the classics that all cafes seem to have but they serve things I've never seen. For example: homemade cornbread covered with beef chilli topped with two eggs... Gross right? Nope, freaking awesome. It's abvious to me pretty much everything is made from scratch. It's worth the visit and the prices are good... Just make sure you're hungry. read more

This is one of my favorite places for breakfast. We have tried almost everything on the menu and have rarely been disappointed. They have the best gluten free hamburger buns I have ever tasted. Usually, they are dry or tasteless, if I didn't know better I would never know it was gluten-free. I have to say, the buckwheat pancake was...well...just say no. I would never, in good conscience, support any business that disrespects its employees in such a way as the "minimum wage fee." What the owners are saying to every employee who rings up a sale and hands out a receipt is "I really hate the fact that I have to pay you more than I think you're worth. I'm gonna make the customer well aware of my distaste for the recent raise I had to give you. But always remember to smile and be friendly to my customers." read more

If you choose not to eat here because you don't like the min wage fee, so be it, but don't give poor reviews to an establishment you have never patronized simply because you don't like the way the owner compensated for increased costs. Came here with all my girlfriends from the Comfort Inn and Suites in Stillwater for a bridal shower lunch. We are glad we did! Great food, service and a very simple décor. Burgers are awesome! Had to wait a little because they were busy, but that's ok :). Taking of one star because everyone can improve! But this was a great place to eat. A pretty good breakfast sandwich, I think it's called the "Hangover". Excellent and plentiful coffee. We noticed a guy refilling coffee who was joking around with some kids near our table. Turns out to be the owner who will play a game of tic tack toe with the kid. If the kid wins, the meal is free. If he loses he has to give his mom a hug. Very cool. I usually don't eat burgers since I am usually disappointed. However, since Oasis has been awarded the "best burger place" in the St. Croix Valley, I tried one. Wow, was I happy I did. It was great! I've been going to the Oasis since I was a kid. It's always good....yet in the last 2 years it's just not as good. Prices went up quite a bit, and the wait for food seems to be longer each time we go. The food is good, greasy spoon diner food. The service can be good, or kinda cranky at times, depends on the day. Poached eggs cooked perfectly. We also split the Prime Rib Hash $16 .95. Tender beef, potatoes, bell pepper, yellow onion, poached eggs, hollandaise, toast, chives. Poached eggs cooked perfectly. This dish was very flavorful. The beef, although cut in small cubes, was a little more tough than I expected but they were still tasty. The sauce was very flavorful. Had plenty for leftovers and the country fried steak had a really nice seasoning/spice to it. It was quiet in there with "my Dad's oldies music" playing at a reasonable level. The restaurant was the busiest I've seen it today, but we also went around 9am on a Sunday. Usually we are there on a weekday. Service was still great! Definitely give this place a try!
