My husband and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday early afternoon (around 1 pm which is towards the end of lunch time). The place has many tables open (at least five) and I wanted to see a on a booth at the entrance. We were denied and told that those were for other customer with bigger groups (the booths seem to seat about 4 people). Interestingly enough, there were no people waiting or arriving. We were offered a high table (which is not an option for me due to back pain) or on the counter because we were only two people . I would understand if they have many people waiting, but not under the current circumstances. We ended up on a table (for four people). The server was great, very good at her job and very friendly. The food was very tasty too. While we were treated with respect and the hostess was very professional, I will not considered coming back since I do not feel appreciated as a customer. Can't believe I hadn't ventured to this place before. My wife and I went for breakfast. Her avocado toast with basted eggs was amazing. She said that instead of the usual schmear of avocado at other restaurants, this seemed like it was almost a whole avocado, not mixed with mayonnaise or other fillers. Salad greens on top of the avocado were a nice touch-. My country fried steak was one of the best I've ever had, perfectly crispy with light breading. The steak was perfectly cooked and very tender, and covered with a savory creamy sausage gravy-. I opted for a biscuit and skillet fries and was glad I did. The biscuit was enormous. The waitress brought some butter for the biscuit, but I told her it was so moist and tasty it didn't need any butter. The skillet fries were nicely browned, diced smaller than some other restaurants, and delicious. About the only down side was the coffee, which was very ordinary. It annoys me that you blatantly tell your customers that they are going to pay your credit card fees when using a credit card. I understand the reason is to keep prices the same but if the food and service are excellent (which btw it is) then it's not going matter as much on price. read more

Oasis Cafe should have every breakfast meal come with a hammock. Comfort food central at its comfy best. So comfy we had breakfast here twice. Sunday morning: get here early or be patient l. They're busy. You're hungry. It's worth the wait. We sat at the counter and had that great diner experience. We had mimosas and they were deliciously bubbly and so were we when we left. I'm pretty stingy about handing out 5 star reviews. But Oasis deserves it! Oasis Cafe has American-style cafe food...but everything has a unique twist...and nearly everything is made in-house. The menu has tons of breakfast items on one side, sandwiches & burgers on the other side. On the breakfast side...everything from unique omelettes to specialty hash brown "hay stacks", and a mac & cheese pancake! On the sandwich side...everything from a pot roast sandwich to specialty burgers like the jalapeno burger, a peanut butter burger, and a weird polish sausage burger (FYI, it was delicious). The service was first class...highly attentive, friendly, fast...everyone was completely on top of their game. The restaurant layout is nice. Vintage cafe counter in front, tables in back, an outdoor patio, and a full bar ("The Bait Shop") in the back room. This is where the old fishing bait shop - literally - used to be located. Oasis bought them out when they closed about 10 years ago. They took out a wall and now it's a cute little hipster bar. Finally, parking is usually pretty easy since they aren't all the way into downtown Stillwater. They have their own large parking lot. A must visit! Delicious food combinations and friendly service. This place has a 50's diner vibe, with a counter you can sit at and booths. All self seating. Absolutely phenomenal breakfast/brunch. Lots of booth seating (and tables overall) but if you don't get there early on the weekend you'll probably wait a bit to get a table. We love the Oasis Haystack (got it twice in the week we were visiting!) with perfectly crispy hashbrowns and enjoy the coffee and music selection at this adorable diner. Bonus - the staff are extremely (genuinely) friendly and all their mugs are random so it's a surprise if it's a baby's first birthday, religious holiday or something about being up north on the lakes being the best part of life. :) They have good hot sauce options, but no non-dairy milks (almond or oat). read more

First time there today. The food was awesome, I had eggs Benedict and my wife had eggs with corned beef hash. The corned beef was very nicely trimmed and served in big chunks. Everything else I saw served looked fantastic so a repeat stop for us. We've driven past many times as this venue is always very crowed, small in size, and clientele need to wait outside. Not ideal for Minnesota in the winter. Giving this establishment 3 1/2 stars due to cramped quarters and honestly the staff was not the friendliest. The food was so good! My fiancé and I split a haystack and french toast. Absolutely delicious. However, the service was terrible. We experienced terrible service. Our server took our order, dropped off the food, and then dropped off the check 45 minutes later. They never checked to see how we were doing or refilled our waters. My sister recommended this place after my brother had taken her here prior. It is right off the road so it's easy to drive by if you're not looking for it. If you need a landmark look for their giant Burger sign. That is hard to miss. The look of the actual restaurant reminds me of Mickey's Diner in St. Paul or Flameburger in Little Canada. It wasn't fancy, looks older and like it was about to fall apart. But you know what? That's part of the charm of this place. Though I wasn't too keen on the duct taped booths but I got over it pretty quickly. The waiter was super friendly and made you feel at home. I got a Portabello Mushroom Egg Benedict. Breakfast all day :) Yay! The food was very plentiful and very yummy. I loved the coffee mugs they had. The dishes didn't match nor did the mugs but it added onto the home kitchen feel. Although this place has been around since at least the 50s, their recent addition doesn't take away from the old diner feel it's always had. They still have the BEST BURGERS in the St. Croix valley by far and they now have a full bar with local beers on tap. The service is excellent. Try the Black and Tan beer battered onion rings with horse radish sauce! Soooo fire !!!! I always go with the candied bacon and jalapeño pepper jelly burger but this time I switched it up and has the Portobello and Garlic cream cheese burger and it was PHENOMENAL! We were leaving the twin cities area and he got to pick the place to eat and it was oasis hands down. I have always loved Oasis and I think I always will. While I miss going there for breakfast so very much right now, I ordered a carry out family style dinner (the cheeseburger platter) on Saturday and it was AWESOME! The cheeseburgers were perfectly cooked and huge, the fries were somehow still crisp and warm after a 20 minute drive home, salad was a delicious healthyish addition. Cheesecake brownies were the perfect finishing touch. It was a ton of food and a fantastic value. We're already plotting our next order. Can't wait! read more

I had the Veggie Grilled Cheese while my husband ordered the Veggie Black Bean Burger and added the mushrooms and garlic toppings. Both were very tasty and served with delicious crispy hot French Fries. We're vegetarian and were hoping for more options (with all the yummy burger options offered we thought we could have ordered a plant-based burger or portobello mushroom option to replace the meat).
