I am way behind on reviews, so I need to state up front that my experience with Oasis Restaurant occurred *before* the current Covid lockdowns, so it was an in-restaurant experience. Since then however, Oasis has gone to a take-out only model, but they are still open for business. Oasis moved into this space not too long ago, taking over for (I believe) a French restaurant that had been there for many years. The space is large and beautiful, with windows in the front that let light flood in (that's where I sat) and the decor was clearly set up to make one feel comfortable. It is not overdone but it was clearly thought through. Some tables look rather bunched up, but if you get the right one you should have plenty of room to sit (this will likely be more relevant after the lockdowns have ended). Food wise I was very happy with my experience. The Falafel balls were nice and crispy with good flavor. The stuffed grape leaves were tasty and moist, with the rice inside properly cooked (read: not crunchy). For my entree I had the Tagine of Chicken, Lemon & Olives and it was a bright, well cooked dish. Nothing felt like it was over or underdone. Service was great. Our hostess seated us quickly and the staff made sure we were checked on at least twice during the meal. I plan to visit again for take out and will update this review once I do! read more

The best falafel and swarma around!!! Although their rice and pita are side dishes, Oasis does such a good job that they really stand out. It's that good...a clear reflection of how much care they put into all of their food. read more

I never had Moroccan food before and I wanted to give this place a try. I called in the order and the lady that answered was very nice and helpful with my questions. I ordered lamb shank and yellow rice. When I arrived I parked on the street with meter parking. I walked in and the lady that took my order came up front and asked if I was picking up. I told her yes and she brought me my food. It came to $22 total. I went home and ate and the food was pretty good. The lamb fell off the bone and was very tender. The rice was pretty good as well. I would go back and try another dish for sure. read more

Great food- we had the Brewat (on the sweet size), the Couscous with Mergaz (soo good! and such a big dish- we had to take home half of it...) and the Seafood Pastilla (interesting flavors. very nice). Also great tea and fresh baklava. Will be back! read more

We ordered pick up and the food was perfectly warm by the time we ate it. The staff was very friendly and they had the food ready for us when we arrived. We were a group of four and had more than enough food. We got the Oasis sampler (hummus, baba ghanoush, roasted eggplant and 3 falafel, foul tagine and 2 orders of brewat (3 per order) as appetizers. For entrees we shared the Pastilla, Tagine of Lamb and Plums and Mixed Shawarma (beef and chicken). Everything was delicious, the only complaint was the hummus had an odd sour taste and the Pastilla filling was a little dry. The foul was the best I have had, extremely flavorful and satisfying, and the brewat was very tasty, crunchy outside without the beef being dry inside. The lamb tagine was fantastic, the lamb fell off the bone and the plums went perfectly with it. The mixed shawarma was also very tasty and the meat was flavored nicely. The food here is very authentic and exactly like the food in Morocco. I've tried a few Moroccan restaurants in the state that were not very good. This one has great food. The mint lemonade is like a frozen lemonade with fresh mint added. They make the juice once you order it so it is fresh. I ordered the branzino and it was grilled up exactly like the grilled fresh fish I had in Essaouira. The rice was also perfectly seasoned. My friend got the chicken tajin with lemons and olives. The chicken looked well stewed. She said it was delicious. Everything was great and we will be coming back. read more

I absolutely love this place! Good quality Moroccan food with a lovely ambiance! The restaurant is small but cozy, and the food is all delicious! Portion sizes are generous too! The hot and cold appetizers were so good- we got the #3 foul tagine and #8 zaalouk. The foul tagine was SO good! I also ordered a fattoush salad with falafel for my entree. Plenty of food and very filling! My sister ordered the oasis salad - which was a lot bigger and more filling than mine and definitely delicious! I also had Moroccan tea- so fresh! My sister ordered the lemonade with mint which she loved, and my mom ordered the avocado shake which she said was so fresh! We love coming here and can't wait to come back! read more

I was super excited to try this new spot in downtown Cranford for Valentine's day. For appetizers we had the grape leaves and the Oasis Combo Appetizer which was delicious. For dinner we split the meatball tagine and couscous with lamb and vegetables which were both very yummy. We wrapped the night up with some nice baklava and Moroccan tea which came in cool little individual pot. Overall food, service, prices, and location were great. Also BYOB is a great plus especially with a liquor store right next door!! read more

Located in the heart of Cranford downtown this restaurant is a gem. I was extremely excited to try and I was really happy that I did. We went there on a Wednesday night for dinner and it was quite full. We ordered Zaalouk as our appetizer. I loved how flavorful it was and it complemented warm and soft pita breads perfectly. We ordered vegetable tagine and lamb tagine with plums. The lamb was perfectly cooked and plums contrasted perfectly with the flavor of lamb. The veggie tagine was amazing as well and great for vegetarians out there. Tagines are served with rice and salads. I would highly recommend this place. P.S. After a tasty round of appetizers including tangy baked Fava beans, creamy smooth hummus, baba ghanoush and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside falafel, we feasted on two lamb dishes, one of which was perfectly grilled, and an order of couscous with vegetables. I still remember today how great everything tasted. Service was friendly and efficient and the decor included lamps and accessories imported from Morocco. Portions were generous and they provide containers for the leftovers. You can only eat so much! Highly recommended. read more

Closer to 3.5. Ordered online and the food was ready when promised. I ordered falafel balls, beef and chicken shawarma platter, and mint lemonade. The falafel balls were delicious. Some of the best I've tasted. The mint lemonade was a refreshing treat. I could drink a gallon of it. The platter said it came with rice, grilled vegetables, and a house salad. The rice was just ok. It could have had more seasoning. The grilled vegetables were a tomato section, half a lemon and a pickle that I could've gone without. The house salad was a combination of diced tomatoes and cucumbers. I also received pita bread, but unfortunately that was burned on one side. Prices weren't horrible but I expected more. read more

This place will stick around long after the pandemic is gone and will be a success. It's a very welcomed addition to the "food of all nations" in downtown Cranford. We are so lucky to have excellent ethnic food right in our backyard. Due to pandemic restrictions, we ordered delivery. The meal was promised and delivered within an hour. We began our meal with the Baba ghanoush and hummus. Superb! Fresh and very tasty! So much better than anything we've had from a supermarket. The abundance of grilled fresh pita bread was welcomed as well. Our main dishes consisted of the falafel platter, vegetable tangine, and the salmon tangine. The falafel platter was the most impressive. I believe we counted 9 or 10 pieces that were slightly larger than golf balls. The herbs and spices made it very tasty. The platter came with rice and grilled vegetables. The vegetable tangine was advertised as having potatoes but we didn't see any. We believe they might have substituted brussel sprouts for the potatoes because there was a tremendous amount of them. Overall, still tasty but different. The salmon tangine was very good as well. Two decent size portions of salmon in a very tasty tangine sauce. Our family can't wait to dine hear indoors. However, in the meantime, we'll be glad to order take out and/or delivery again. There are a couple of tables out front if you desire to eat outside. The prices are very reasonable and there is ample parking out front and in nearby lots. Besides that minor hiccup, I applaud them for being open under very stressful times. read more

Beautiful & simple decoration. We went for lunch early in March. They greeted us warmly told us to sit wherever we like. Very patient and informed about every single dish and great suggestions for those had never tried Moroccans food. We had haryra soup and 3 appetizers, babaghanush, all delicious. Neither the babaganoush nor the kibbeh appetizers were hits. The lamb and chicken tangines were good, but not really Morrocan style--no coucous or apricots. The pita was very good. the baklava dessert was good, but miniscule, perhaps because of its being on the Restaurant week special. BYO is a plus. Management seems attentive. The kebab war among Oasis, Olde City and Ambelli will be interesting--can they all survive within a 1/2 block of each other? Will there be a street fight of dueling skewers? read more

I've been to Oasis several times now and have enjoyed the food each time. Normally, I do takeouts with their salads but recently I experienced their outdoor dining, which was nothing short of amazing! For apps, we ordered the oasis combo platter which includes hummus, zaalouk, falafel, and baba ghanouch. We also ordered labanneh because it's mandatory in my books and the Harira soup. Everything was absolutely delicious. For mains, we ordered vegetable tagine and couscous with vegetables. We did not really enjoy the couscous as it was sort of dry and not much flavor but the tagine was great. Normally, I would knock off a star because of the couscous but the owners were super hospitable and attentive, so that makes up for it! read more

What a neat restaurant! We sat outside, started with the hummus and pita bread appetizer-warm bread and the hummus had the right amount of olive oil. We then shared a tabbouleh salad with lamb kabob. We aren't big cilantro fans, but the tabbouleh, lemon, tomatoes made it a really nice mix. Lamb portion could have been a bit more generous for the $10.00 extra charge. Best food in town. The service is always good, everyone is always friendly. More importantly, the food is always top quality. I absolutely love Moroccan cuisine so I was very excited to find out Oasis was coming to Cranford. And they did not disappoint! Everyone working there is friendly and lovely. We were greeted warmly to a beautifully decorated atmosphere. It was restaurant week so my husband and I had baba ganoush, kibbeh, lamb tagine, chicKen tagine, tiramisu, and baklava between the two of us. The baba ganoush is amazingly smoky and the flavor of the kibbeh is exactly how I remember from my friend's mom's cooking. The tagine dishes are beautifully presented in the clay tagine. The lamb and chicken were both so tender! The baklava was sweet and flaky and the tiramisu was somehow creamy and decadent but also light. Take the time to check this place out! read more

I travel the world, and am quite acquainted with middle eastern and African food. This place captured some of the most unique and delicious flavors of authentic Moroccan food! The dishes were plentiful and the spices quite gourmet. The staff was outstanding, and very accommodating! Wow! We decided to try a new place here in Cranford and boy are we glad we did! It's a beautiful, authentic looking space. The menu is comprehensive. We started with the Oasis salad which was a delicious mix of marinated beets, cabbage, rice, eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers. We also ordered the lebneh which was creamy and delicious. I had the lamb kebab and hubby had mixed kebab. The lamb was so tender and bursting with flavor! Interestingly, it came with a small dish of BBQ sauce. Harris soup (tomato based soup) - 3/5. Blend again. Tagline of lamb and plums - 4/5. The lamb is a bit gamey. Branzino fish 4/5 - the fish is really fresh, but we didn't really get any charmoula spice on the fish. Mint lemonade- 5/5! It's sweet enough without extra sugar. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Cranford. The menu is not overbearing and the restaurant ambiance is amazing. They have outdoor seating as well, and the service staff does a great job describing the menu and portions.
