Purslane is that place for me after one amazing dinner a few weeks ago that I can't stop thinking about. The food is outstanding without being fussy. The service is warm without being too much. The space is beautifully decorated, and there's even coffee table photography books in the bathroom, like come on! Last but not least, they have the Champagne of Beers, so you know it's my jam. I only wish I lived closer but it's worth the drive and I'm looking forward to more memorable meals here.

Our friendly, attentive, wonderful server, Paula, informed us that the entire menu... lunch, dinner and specials... was available from open until close. Sweet! I had been craving ribs, so ordered their half rack of baby backs for $24, which comes with two sides. Their baked potatoes weren't quite ready yet, so I chose the garlic mashed and grilled asparagus. Do you ever worry that something you crave won't be as good as you anticipate? Well, this meal totally exceeded my expectations! The rib meat was fall off the bone tender with a slight char and a delicious sauce. The garlic mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned with no lumps, and the grilled asparagus was also perfectly cooked. I ate every morsel of food on my plate, which I rarely do. A dog wouldn't have wanted those bones when I was finished with them! My friend ordered the Chophouse burger ($21), which she also thought was excellent. This was an all around great experience. The parts that did have significant pieces of chicken were dry and almost tasted burnt, so dunking them in ranch was necessary. $26 for this meal is exorbitant when I could drive to the Cane's in Warwick and get significantly more, better food than this. It might be great for URI students late at night, and I love the amount of sauces they offer, but I likely won't be back. I got a small house salad with grilled Mahi Mahi on top (no salt added). My husband got the soba noodles and a side caesar salad. Mine was good and perfectly made, I devoured my entire Mahi salad. My husband's noodle dish was very salty...something to keep in mind...the good thing was that the noodles were soba, so they were mostly buckwheat flour, which is better for you.
