    Huevos Rancheros!

I love place like the Bluebird. You've got people killing themselves to open restaurants in interesting places with interesting themes and they come in and go out all the time. Here's a group of people who said, "Strip mall? No problem. Small place? No Problem. We're just going to crush it with food and nothing else will matter." And they do! All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The tables were not crowded in. Coffee? Spot on. We had three different meals, each of which were great. "The Best Ever" is over rated on YELP but I've have had Huevos Rancheros all over the country and I've never had any better than The Bluebird's!

My husband and I went here for brunch today, we are in the area for a wedding this week. I saw on Yelp it's listed as Cajun food which was intriguing to me, as I know he really enjoys that type of food. I am not a big breakfast person so I got a side order of toast and ham. The toast was great, the ham was a little too grilled for my liking. We also split an order of the fried green tomatoes, which was another reason I wanted to come to this cafe, because that's one of my favorite dishes and I feel like it's hard to find sometimes. The tomatoes were great and it came with a semi-spicy dipping sauce, I think it might have horseradish or something in it. My husband ordered the special of the day, the crawfish roll, and really liked it. It comes with a side and he chose to upgrade it to sweet potato fries, which were very good. Service was fast and friendly as well. I would return when in the area, their pancakes and other breakfast stuff also looked very good and they also have lunch things like sandwiches.

Cute small cafe with a fun and diverse atmosphere that is so fun and welcoming! Impeccable service from all of the ladies on the floor and the food is sooo good! I had a vanilla chai latte and their French toast and it was so good it reminded me of some of the bread from New Orleans. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood!

Best corn beef has ever!! Tim can't quit raving about it! And love the Heuvos rancheros. Yellow grits to die for! Great staff, too!!

It's been again quite some time (7 years!) since we visited Bluebird, but my hat's off to them for maintaining a high quality and standard for food service! We happened to be in the area, it was closing in on lunchtime, so we decided to visit for old time's sake - and were we happy with the decision. I had a breakfast (ok, brunch) special: two eggs (any way) with jambalaya hash and home fries; my wife had their fried catfish po' boy (I just realized that this particular meal had a def whiff of Louisiana ...). The jambalaya hash was excellent, flavorful, with tasty bites of sausage. (I assume that the chef was probably re-purposing leftover jambalaya from a previous menu, but fried up as a hash was brilliant!) My wife reported that her po' boy was also very good, nicely fried fresh fish fillet, and well-seasoned. All in all a happy and tasty reunion!

Everything on the menu looked good. I ordered the Vermont burger, with candied bacon, and onion rings on the side, and it was delicious. My husband got a Philly steak Benedict, from the specials menu, and liked it. We also got a side of cornbread which was very good. My mom ordered the chicken and avocado sandwich, which was my second choice off the menu, but I'm glad I didn't order it, it wasn't quite as tasty as the burger IMO. When we left we struggled to move the tables, as my aunt has a walker, and I did feel like the staff should've helped us with that. Other than that, waitservice was fast and friendly.

First look at the menu, you start drooling, so many great options. Since I was with my girlfriend (who has Alpha Gal and is allergic to red meat) I try not to eat red meat when we go out. They were happy to substitute the ham for avocado on my eggs Benedict. The eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The hash browns for me were a little under seasoned. However next to the salt and pepper they had some hot sauce, a little addition of all three of those and the hash browns were great! They have many different coffee flavor options, service was great. While they were busy they let us know that, and apologized for the delays. We were not in a hurry and will be back again the next time we are in the area.

Upon our 5:30 p.m. arrival, my wife and I were immediately seated in the far corner of the outdoor patio. From the beginning, the host's demeanor came across as cold and dismissive. When she told us to "enjoy," her tone made it clear she didn't mean what she said. When our waitress arrived, she wanted to explain what the daily specials were, but before she began, we politely asked if we could move to another section of the patio so we could sit in the sun. After speaking with the host, she returned with what I can only describe as a smart-ass attitude, saying, "Those tables are for people who actually have reservations." We completely understood if those tables were reserved, but there was absolutely no reason for the condescending attitude. Instead, we were moved to another corner table, and after the host decided to tell us "enjoy" with the same condescending tone. Once we sat down, I asked the waitress if she could explain the daily specials, but then she quickly replied, "now that we're at a different table, the other waitress/waiter will have to do that" since it wasn't her "zone". As we sat there, we couldn't help but notice what appeared to be a noticeable difference in how other guests were treated. The tables that gave off what I would describe as a more "upper class" appearance, well-dressed white guests who appeared more affluent, seemed to receive a warmer welcome and far more attentive service. Whether that was intentional or not, we couldn't shake the feeling that we were viewed differently. I'm white myself, but perhaps my tattoos or the fact that I was dining with my Brazilian wife caused us to be perceived differently. I honestly don't know. What I do know is that we left feeling like we didn't fit the restaurant's idea of its preferred clientele. For example, our waitress never offered us the option of tap or bottled water, while nearby "upper class" tables were given that choice. Around 6:10 p.m., we ordered appetizers, which took roughly 20 minutes to arrive, while tables seated after us were already receiving their food. We then placed our entrée orders and waited... and waited... and waited. In addition, we found a hair in the salad that we ordered, and when we brought it up to the waitress, her only answer was "that's impossible, everyone in the kitchen wears hairnets... At approximately 6:40 p.m., the hostess came to our table and explained there had been a "mix-up" because we had switched tables, causing our entrée order to be delayed. That explanation made very little sense. How does simply switching tables result in an order being delayed by that much? It pointed to a serious lack of communication between the front of the house and the kitchen. By approximately 6:50 p.m., I believe a manager came to our table and asked if there was anything he could do. At that point, I bluntly asked for the check because waiting well over an hour for our food was simply unacceptable. Ironically, our entrées finally arrived around 7:00 p.m., but by then we had completely lost our appetite. I sent the food back and again requested the check. Even then, it still took another 10 minutes to receive it. To the hostess's credit, she apologized, and I told her I appreciated the apology. However, I also explained that this restaurant clearly has a major communication problem. More importantly, the dismissive attitude we experienced from the moment we walked in set the tone for the entire evening and left us feeling unwelcome. In a nutshell: We waited an hour and a half for our food we never received, we were mistreated, felt discriminated, and there were still PLENTY of open tables in the patio facing the sun. This was our first visit to Narragansett, and unfortunately it was not the welcome we expected. I didn't even bother asking if the restaurant offered a military discount because, by that point, I already felt like we didn't belong. We will NEVER return.
