Their chilaquiles and wet burritos are hands down some of the best I've ever had! I always order the same three things: wet chile verde asada burrito; asada taco dorado a la carte; chilaquiles with asada, green mild sauce, and two over medium eggs. Their asada is well-seasoned, and I appreciate how it's well-trimmed with little to no excess fat so every bite is just juicy steak. The wet burrito is huge and has homemade refried beans and rice, loaded with your choice of protein and pico de gallo. You can add whatever you'd like on top of the burrito: avocado, eggs, sour cream, and cheese. As for their chilaquiles, it's served with two eggs cook to your liking, melted cheese, your choice of protein, and your choice of sauce: green, red, red spicy, and green mild. They also have a chilaquiles burrito! I haven't tried it yet but interested in trying it. They are also known for their Chile Relleno, another dish I've been wanting to try. Angie's - Norwalk, CA Angie's has been part of the Norwalk community for many years, which is why this review is difficult to write. I recently ordered the Menudo, and unfortunately it was far from what I expected. The flavor just wasn't there -- it tasted off, almost like the traditional recipe and the heart behind it had been forgotten. Menudo should be rich, nostalgic, and full of comfort, but this was the complete opposite. It was honestly disappointing and a bit embarrassing for a restaurant with so much history. On the positive side, the customer service was great. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive -- and that deserves to be recognized. However, I truly hope the kitchen takes a moment to taste their Menudo before it goes out, because right now, it's not happening. I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed Angie's, but it's over due! This tiny restaurant has some of the best food, they genuinely cook everything to taste perfect! Their service is amazing everytime. My all time favorite is the taquitos plate, the chilaquiles are my second best plate. I recommend this place to anyone looking for great Mexican food. read more

Came by for breakfast the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking was available on the street. There seems to be a competitor right next door with similar branding. Signage on the door stated to knock for entry and the door was wide open. Staff were super cordial. There was a sign at the register stating that they are cash only. The sign was next to the tablet for taking credit cards along with a sign stating that there would be a $1 surcharge for credit cards?!? Started off with the complimentary chips which were fresh and tasty. The carne asada taco was gigantic and came with 2 soft taco shells. The building from the outside is modest and unassuming. The inside is bright, colorful, clean, and comfortable. The aroma of foods cooked, being cooked or prepared is delightful and teases the appetite. You can tell there's some home cooking style goodness going on here. This is an excellent spot for a filling breakfast to start your day. For lunch, go with the combination plates, soups or just order à la carte. Everything is fresh and delicious. Their refried beans are the best. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. Note the hours because they are closed by early afternoon. read more

Last week I tried the Mexican restaurant next door- today while passing by I decided to try Angie's- I walk in place is clean and the aroma is exquisite. I order a small menudo to go and a cafe de olla which is just basically coffee with cinnamon. The staff was friendly- cooks looked clean. First taste of the coffee was strong yet flavorful. I give it a 4 I get home serve my menudo which was very very clean and smelled delicious. Tripe was cut in large pieces - I had to trim them down- it was very tender and cooked well. Not enough hominy though but otherwise it was delicious! I'll definitely be visiting again next time I'm craving menudo. I also tried a taco de lengua (meat was tough not cooked enough and no flavor). All in all because of the staff and delicious menudo I highly recommend trying them out! read more

Found this place on Yelp. I loved the reviews so I decided to give it a shot. Man, they didn't disappoint. Food was delicious, what a Mexican breakfast should be. The service was outstanding, they were very attentive and courteous. I ordered the Chile relleno burrito (wet) it was delicious. The sauce that came on top of the burrito was awesome. My wife ordered the chilaquiles (red) and they accommodated her request that the egg be tossed with the chips. Awesome! It was a little place but so cozy and accommodating. This is a small restaurant. Sitting down in the dining area gave me flashbacks of being at an aunt's dining room table. Service is excellent. They keep your coffee cup warm and we were asked if we liked our meal or if there was anything they could do. Nice! My husband ordered the Chile relleno burrito, with green salsa (wet burrito). I tried a piece of it was sooo good. It was an actual chile relleno with beans. The beans are tasty and the green salsa is gold. Super tangy and flavorful. I ordered the red chilaquiles. Which I was pleasantly surprised they folded the egg with the chips! I prefer it this way over the eggs on top. The salsa was very good and I asked for raw onion on top of mine. I can't wait to come back and try the green chilaquiles! My only critique would be that I would love to have the option to get queso cotija or fresco! Classic old school Mexi/Cali restaurant with all the regulars. I've only ordered menudo to go from here, but decided to stop by and try some dishes in house. Tried the Chile verde tostada and three tacos (lengua, chicharrón and carnitas). The GF had the hard taco plate (one chicken and one beef). Food and service was pretty good. Nothing really to complain about and dishes were solid, but all we did was compare the food to other places that did it better. Could you find better carnitas? Sure. Same with the chile verde, hard tacos, etc. Granted there were different places for each, so have to give it up to this place for doing everything solid. Parking is rough when busy, which is why we haven't eaten here before, but if you go after 1:30pm like we did, the place is pretty empty. Down side is they may be out of some items that late. Both served hot with ample portions. Machaca was tender and seasoned well and nopales soft and blended in well with eggs. Just wanted to share my experience with huevos rancheros plate, the eggs were cooked the way I like them, the carne con salsa Verde was delicious and filled with the flavors that take me back to when growing up and my mom used to cook. Highly recommend this plate for b-fast and a side bowl of menudo. The service was excellent from the friendly serving staff Priscilla and Elena were very accommodating and kept watch to make sure they had all my food needs taken care of. I will definitely continue coming here and trying more dishes and experiencing the food and delicious aguas frescas. Adorable what appears to be a family run business. They are there like at 6 AM in the morning freshly making things, the flavor is wonderful very authentic and fresh and high-quality. I recently moved to the area and wanted to try my neighborhood restaurants. Angie's is def near the top of my list! Everything from the food to the service was top notch! I mentioned that it was my first time there, and my server sat me down and shared with me what her favorties on the menu were. I ended up getting the steak rancheros and it was so so so good. I would like to say that nothing changed with the new ownership but I would be lying. I have been a customer since my earliest memories. I am over 50 now and something has changed with the corn. They used to use fresh ground masa from the back and that was one of the memorable smells and flavors. That is gone. The corn tortillas and tamales has a different smell and flavor. The chile relleno used to taste like a steak. Now it has a strange flavor that is not recognizable. It is still the same small restaurant but rhe flavors have changed to something different and not good. Not fresh. It was no wonder it was empty on a Saturday morning at 830-900. I had the huevos rancheros. Pretty good. Is it worth $20? No. It doesn't even come with a drink for that price. Also they push a tip in your face at cash out. I find that to be rude especially if I'm just picking up and not eating there. As I was leaving I can here the cashier mentioning something about gratitude in Spanish because I didn't tip. Oh well. This place is great. The only gripe I have is the cash only. I hardly ever carry cash so it's a trip to the atm to come eat. Aside from that the food here is delicious. Parking can be easily found in between the Starbucks and in and out and walking over so that's not an issue. Staff is friendly and quick to provide service. On Fridays when I can't have meat during lent, an order of chilaquiles always hits the spot. These green ones have a bit to a kick to them so be prepared. This place can get pretty busy so recommend coming early. read more

I hate having to write this review. I decided to prefer through uber eats. I went on here to check the reviews and I saw the had amazing reviews to I placed my order. I got the Chile relleno plate and it was very disappointing, the Chiles barely had any cheese, they were super small and they were extremely oily. The box they came in was soggy and the oil was leaking through it. I wasn't not able to finish the small bite that I took made extremely nauseous. The guy on the phone was nice. My wife and I stopped in this morning after a family friend told me that if I love chile rellenos (which is my favorite Mexican food), I have to try Angie's. That tip proved to be 100% accurate as my relleno plate was very delicious and my wife absolutely loved her Pozole as well. She said it was a "10 out of 10!" The restaurant was not only clean and cozy, but the friendly and attentive employees made our visit even more enjoyable. For a small hole in the wall place, it was busy the entire time we were there which is a good sign that the food is on point and the word has gotten out.
