Really cool spot!…read more Very cool vibe and atmosphere Seats upstairs are so cute but if you have a fatty you may be a little uncomfortable. We celebrated our anniversary here, such a great So, we had to switch from upstairs to downstairs and that delayed our night but umm, so not holding that against the staff in any way...We had so much more to be happy about. Did try the bourbon tasting and that was cool and our server timed it perfectly. Impressed Did the restaurant week menu, 1st time here and was great cause it was timed perfectly Take a sip after one course, chat for 3-6 min and here's another course. Dessert was okay, my pudding could've been smoother and the vanilla ice cream as just that, but not bad. Overall, great and we will return.

He made sure to come back and check if we wanted to order another drink periodically and removed empty plates and cups. I decided to order off of their specials menu and got the Lobster Roll, which IMO could have been better. Their Espresso Martinis were really good, so I got probably 3-4 orders of these. Looking back, I wished I ordered from their regular menu as the other guests in my party enjoyed their meals. Oh well, I guess there's always a next time when I'm back in town.

It's perfect for couples, families, kids, first dates, or weekend brunch. The Gritz is a small, unpretentious, and moderately priced neighborhood restaurant with a great bar. It's more cocktail than beer oriented, although there are plenty of choices for suds lovers, too, and most of the brands are local. Try the Pork Italiano - one of the best sandwiches I've ever had - and their sweet and sour brisket platter with potato croquettes is sublime. Really fine fries as well. Great burgers, salads, crab cakes. It's all good! I noted that the price range was $20 to $30 per person, but my wife and I have gotten out of there for $44 with a beer before tip. Cheap in Philly these days, especially for such high quality food. Service is quick and friendly and the server never asks if you've dined there before. AND on most third Saturdays of the month, starting at 8:15pm the Philly Musical Achievers hold their Open Mike night! Performers from all over give their all to entertain Gritz patrons and there are singers, songwriters, and musicians of all kinds. Sometimes even a poet or comic will show up and the singalongs are legend. It's a hoot and a blast! OPEN 10AM TO 2AM. Brunch on weekends

My friends, family, and coworkers worry about me and my yearning for this burger in my life. I think truly part of the reason why I wouldn't mind living in Philly is because of this burger. I'd argue that part of the reason I'd come back to Philly (and am planning on doing) is the food. This city has it on lockdown, and Luckys is in the top for me.

When I seen that Lucky's Last Chance won best burger 3 times I knew I had to try lucky's award winning PB&J burger. Walking into Lucky's, you're immediately engulfed with the iconic Dive Bar ambiance. This style option defines your experience, good vibe, good food. Our server was very friendly, fit the vibe, explained the menu and seasonal options well. As for the burger, patties cooked perfectly juicy. I must say, one would think that Peanut Butter does not go with burgers. This is an extremely wrong opinion, an old way of thinking if you must. Not really sure how to explain it, peanut butter was a perfect replacement for mayo. Drizzling the Raspberry jelly was truly the best way to go. Just as important, the bun was local and fresh, while holding up to the weight of this sandwich. I can see why this burger and Lucky's won best burger multiple times. If I ever have the luxury of visiting Lucky's Last Chance again. I may sneak in some Jalapeño jelly and give it a try!

Second, everyone knows about Roxanne's insanely delicious and creative prix fix menus, but did you know they now have a la carte lunch (and dinner) menus? I recently scored a lunch reservation and ordered a classic combo of burger and fries, with strawberry shortcake for dessert. Roxanne can make the tasty inventive dishes, but can they make hometown faves like this? Yes. Yes they can. The juicy well-seasoned burger, pillow soft homemade sesame bun, secret sauce, and onion would have been enough, but the unmelted, room temp red rock cheese gave the burger a kick in the pants that make this a contender for best burger in Philly. The curly fries would put Arby's to shame. They are thicker, crispier, longer, and softer inside. Lastly, it may seem odd to order dessert after lunch. But, if you are at Roxanne, you could be charged with a crime if you leave without it. I went with the American classic of strawberry shortcake since it's practically a requirement on 4th of July and this is our 250th birthday as well! I think the photo explains itself. Obscenely delicious and, yes, I ate it all. Slowly. So, put Roxanne on the top of your list for a Philly lunch stop, and order the dessert too! You won't regret it.

We asked for the toppings on the side because, you know, kids, but WOW. The vodka sauce was delicious, and the pickled tomato concoction that came with them? I could've bathed in it. The calamari was perfectly crisp and came with the unexpected bonus of onion rings, which were ever-so-lightly battered and perfectly crunchy. And once again, the sauces were superb. The boys shared a cheese pizza, half pepperoni, and really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the burger, and yes, I stole a bite--and yes, to no one's surprise, it was amazing. We also ordered the charred broccoli after seeing everyone rave about it online. They were NOT wrong. Creamy, smoky, charred perfection. And finally... drumroll please... the 10 oz. smoked Duroc pork chop! OH. EM. GEEE. Perfectly charred on the outside and incredibly juicy inside, sitting in the most delicious smoky morita-apricot glaze and topped with a bright cucumber-melon salad with mint and blue basil. The contrast was perfection! The rich, smoky pork, the sweet and slightly spicy glaze, and that cool, fresh salad on top. Every bite had the perfect combination of flavors and textures. Easily one of the best pork chops I've ever had. As wonderful as the food was, the service somehow made the experience even better. From the minute we arrived, we were treated like family coming home for the holidays. Warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. What an absolute joy of a restaurant. Considering we are visiting Philadelphia, the worst city in the world, I looked this one up and seemed to have good ratings. What a disgusting meal experience and food preparation. We ordered the parillada for two. The guy asked us how we wanted it cooked: we said medium. What did we get: a bloody hot mess. The worst part: after we told the waiter that the meat was under cooked, did they remake the order: of course not, oh no Che! He picked up the pieces of meat from the dish and took them back to cook them more. I hope the other guests enjoyed their meat being grilled after our twice cooked meat, which we had already cut into. Ay Pive! Their shrimp cocktail appetizer was also super weird tasting, and $20 for four shrimp!!!!! For those that are math challenged, that's $5 a shrimp. Not prawns, but just regular good old street shrimp from Walmart. Stay the F away from this place! No value for the money, the waiters are incompetent, and the cooks are incompetent . And that's nothing compared to the food safety problems we experienced. DISGUSTING! You have been warned.
