    stuffed grape leaves

We were treated to dinner at Dory's Mediterranean Grill in Medford and it was delicious. Dory's is located in a bright cheery space in the Ironstone Village Center on Stokes Road. We ordered the stuffed grape leaves, spinach pie, sambousek and the chocolate hummus for starters and then the kofta and beef shawarma sandwiches and then the namourma and mechabak for dessert along with Lebanese style coffee. Everything was delicious and I thought everything was well cooked and well-seasoned. The sandwiches were fresh, flavorful and both the kofta and the shawarma were perfect. The chocolate hummus was truly amazing and could easily be a starter or a dessert - perfect also alongside a cheese plate. It was very nice to talk with Christine and Dory the owners - very friendly, personable and fun. I wholeheartedly recommend Dory's for lunch or dinner - you will be back for more!

Finally got my girlfriend and rest of my family to try Dory's. My classic go to platter now is mix it up with hummus, falafel, and gyro. My girlfriend tried the chicken shawarma, hummus, and falafel and she loved it! She had never had food like this before and was dying to try it since I told her about it! My boyfriend got two chicken shawarma sandwiches (he's obsessed) and my dad tried one as well. They both got sides of fries with the garlic sauce (they love that). Everyone loved it and we were stuffed! Still one of my favorite spots in Medford!

While at work I like to try new restaurants and sub shops nearby. Dory's was a bit further than expected but definitely worth the drive! I picked up my food at the patio window and from what I could see inside; a very clean restaurant, which made me more excited to try my food once I return to work. As you can see in the photo, I could not wait to bite my gyro sandwich before taking a photograph! Gyro sandwich was delicious along with the fries!! The lettuce and tomatoes and lamb all tasted amazingly good and fresh!! I encourage you to try this place out if you're in the area!!

Last night, a Wednesday, was my first time at Dory's after seeing and hearing great things about the staff and the food. It was busy which is a good sign and I had to wait to order. The kitchen is open to the front of the restaurant so you can see all the food being prepared which I like. Once I got up to the front of the line to order I had a few questions that the owner (I presume) was very helpful with and made sure she did everything she could to thoroughly answer for me. (My family member has a beef allergy and I was wondering if it was possible to get a gyro with just lamb and no beef. She even went farther to ensure my family member would be okay if chicken and beef were both cooked on the same grill). I decided on getting the meat sambousek (which reminded me of little empanadas) a felafel sandwich and a chicken taouk sandwich. My brother and I split the two sandwiches and both were unique with great flavor. The marinade for the chicken was delicious and I love the tzatziki. The owner apologized for the wait multiple times (which wasn't even that long) and even offered me a free dessert on the house. I couldn't accept it but I very much appreciated her kindness and offer. It was very easy to see how hard she and the rest of the staff was working to accommodate all of the orders they had. The food was great and I can't believe this was my first time here. I will definitely be back soon! (I can't believe I didn't take pictures of the sandwiches but they looked very appetizing and I felt like were both great value for the size and quality).

I order a chicken sandwich wrap got only pickles and onions : the beef version sandwich was ok the wrap was hard as a rock : I tried to communicate with Christine but got no where : I would not be spending my money there no longer

So our mid week rendezvous took us to the mediterranean! Dorys in Medford. What a great meal. The wings were interesting. Not sure what I was expecting, but they were lemony and garlicky all at the same time. Nice and plump and breaded. The chicken taouk platter with baba ghanoush was very tasty. The ghanoush had a great smokey flavor...plus it's just fun to say baba ghanoush. And last, the souvlaki was fantastic. The portion sizes were also super. Nice covid window, no dine in, and byob.

Food was great. We went with another couple for a quick dinner and met the owner and his wife- they were really kind and friendly. We really enjoyed the baba ghannouj. We all ordered different combinations platters. I really liked the gyro and falafels. The garlic dipping sauce was excellent as well as the baklava (pistachio). We are so glad they're now in Medford and will definitely be coming back. We wish you guys the best!

Restless little ones blocked the entry, setting the tone for my overall Saturday evening experience. That Norma's is popular, there can be no doubt. We had no reservations, and felt lucky to snag a table. The place was bustling, servers had their hands full, we were obliged to be patient until ours arrived. I love Norma's menu -- my partner is vegetarian, so Mediterranean works great for us. I went the veggie route as well, starting with a lentil and ckickpea soup that was hot and savory and the high point of my meal. Other appetizers we enjoyed were the spanikopita and the cheese manaeesh, second to none. My veggie skewer was perfectly charred yet light. After such a promising start, then, our entrees came as quite a disappointment. My partner opted for the falafel salad, and while Norma's falafel are indeed superior, the salad was a bit of a mess, too ... wet, diluting the dressing, leaving runny runoff on the plate. But the greatest misfire wss the mixed kabobs entree I ordered. Everything about it was underwhelming -- these are signature items that should be stand+outs, but weren't. The kabobs were just okay, lacking in appeal, resting on a bed of rice that was unremarkable except for how cold it was. I suspect my plate had been held too long. I know they would have fixed it had I asked -- but seriously, I was up to *here* with all the kids. While I was eating, a woman behind me gathered up her gaggle of tots, squeezing out of the way to make room for a baby carriage the size of a Volkswagen. Does Norma's deserve a second chance? Sure. Next time, I'll stick with the appetizers and stay close to my wine glass lest the kindergarteners in my vicinity cause my nerves to fray.

Both were really good, and the portions are generous enough that I actually had food left over to take home. After you place your order, you get a spread of hummous, baba ganoush, labneh, muhammara and taboule. All five were delicious. My personal favorites were the baba ganoush and muhammara. One thing to know is that the amount of spreads you get is based on your party size, and they don't keep bringing out more once you finish them, like they do at LaserWolf. If you're a carb lover like myself, go easy on the homemade pita (so good!) and order a side of the za'atar manoushe. And the Lebanese chai latte? Perfection! I'd come back just for that. If you've been to LaserWolf, Suraya has a similar flavor profile and some similar spreads, although you get five spreads here. The biggest difference is the way the food is served. Unlike Zahav or LaserWolf, where dishes are constantly coming out to the table, Suraya is more about fewer dishes with larger portions. Personally, I really enjoyed that style because it felt like a satisfying, full meal. Service was efficient and attentive. A couple of tips: make reservations because this place can definitely get busy. Also, parking can be a pain, so plan ahead. Take the closest parking spot you can realistically handle walking from because trying to find something within a block or two of the restaurant can be difficult. Overall, really good food, generous portions, great flavors, and definitely worth coming back to.

I'm providing this honest review as a constructive feedback for improvement…read more We came across this place online but were only able to try it recently...I was honestly disappointed by many things: First, when a place advertises shawarma meat and posts videos of the famous Lebanese shawarma revolving cone that grills the marinated meat as the cone turns, you would expect that the shawarma plate you order is an authentic shawarma meat cut off the shawarma cone...unfortunately, this was not the case at cafe baladi. I respect the owner who's advertising authentic homemade Lebanese food but the shawarma meat we got was not an authentic shawarma meat...this was meat that was cooked either in a pan or in the oven and was not tender because it was not probably marinated and it's not grilled on the shawarma cone. Placed that have the famous shawarma cone you can usually see in the restaurant either behind the counter or through a window in the back - this was not the case. Second the plate included the choice of hummus or baba ghannouj and tabbouleh...we picked baba ghannouj and we got the tabbouleh...again, the baba ghannouj did not taste at all authentic nor homemade...it tasted like the baba ghannouj in a conserved can that you find in grocery stores. Authentic baba ghannouj is made from grilled eggplant tahini lemon juice and salt. Third, the Lebanese tabboule is made from finely chopped vegetables (parsley, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, and burgul). Unfortunately again this tabbouleh was not finely chopped and it lacked the burgul. We were really disappointed. The only positive thing was that the service was quick.

As soon as you can find the time go here. When it comes to Mediterranean / Turkish food I'm legitimately questioning if I've ever had any as good as what I just had tonight at Sofra. Every dish was what I wanted it to be. Every part of the cold appetizer platter was perfect. The hummus was the best hummus. The eggplant was addictive. The crushed veggies were delicious. And then my grilled chicken combo came out and it was all awesome. I've been to places with similar cuisine and I've enjoyed it, but I've never really been blown away. I'll get all excited by the sight of meats on long skewers or delicious looking dips only to eat them and think, "Yeah that's pretty good, but I don't think I'd pay for it again." But at Sofra it was like someone finally got things right. It not only looked beautiful, but the food tasted as seasoned as delicious as I'd always wanted this type of cuisine to be. It it a little pricey? Yes. Normally I'm cheap as hell and would write a place off if the food was more than I wanted to pay on a night out, but this food was so good that I already know for a fact I'll be back. It's worth it.
