I like to go to many different nail salons around Raleigh because I'm picky. But this place is down the road from my home. And I've always stuck going here. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had. But they still do an amazing job! I never get cuts, or never have sore nails the next day. They are careful, detailed, and caring. Also, they are very kid friendly!! Great staff to come up and talk to my daughter. They offer cold beverages and keep the place clean! So many options of colors to choose from. We had a lady in there who was extremely rude and out of character over an expired coupon. So if you read her review, just know, there was many of us present getting our nails done, and she was dramatic. It just made me love the place more with how they handled the situation. Worst experience ever if there was a negative star where I could rank this salon I definitely would. Went to get my nails painted on 11/24 from this establishment and the paint job was terrible. I was in a rush so I told the lady that did my nails that I would come back the next day for her to fix them. They were mid before I left but I had to get back home to walk my puppy. After asking for a tip multiple times. I repeated myself saying I was coming back tomorrow for these to be fixed and she said okay tomorrow. I came back within 24 hours for the fix job and she did not fix anything literally put acetone on the pinky toe and that was it. Instead of fixing my nails like she originally agreed the day prior she proceeds to call upon other nail techs. They then come to a bogus consensus that paint is smushed and all on the sides of my toes and on my toe cuticles because I put on shoes. Paint has been smushed around and looks like a child did it because I put on shoes. I left with my shoes in my hand and did not put on closed toe shoes at all this is the result of piss poor work and no passion in your craft. Hands down worst nail salon and worse pedicure experience ever. Would post a picture but I will not crash out like that. read more

For almost $70 you too can get a decent gel manicure and the worst pedicure of your life! I am a firm believer in second chances, so when I went back to Oberlin Nails & Spa due to smudged toenails, I attributed everything to the pedicurist letting me leave too early and my nails not drying sufficiently. No biggy! But then, after repainting my nails, they left me to dry my toes underneath a drying machine as they waited on other customers for over an hour. At first, I thought this was to make sure they were dried sufficiently, but I soon realized that they'd just sort of forgotten about me. When I headed out the door and put my sandals on, they smudged AGAIN. When I walked back in I said, "I am so sorry! It's got to be my shoes or something." The man who seems to run the salon then took me back to my chair to fix my toes for the THIRD time! I thought to myself "Welp. Third time's a charm, right?" Wrong. This man painted my messed-up toe nail in the splotchiest, gloppiest, jacked-up way possible. When he made an application mistake he just kept painting layers over it making my nail look strange and distorted. He also put nail polish remover into the bottle to cut corners and make the polish last longer, which resulted in a weird consistency and different shade of white on top of what was already there. I thought that maybe the paint would even out under the drying machine because I thought, "he couldn't possibly think that application was satisfactory." I was wrong yet again. This time, when I left and got into my car to head home, I did not put my shoes back on. When I rubbed my fingers across the top, the polish wiped right off like putty. This was such a frustrating experience. I do not make a lot of money and I generally cannot afford nice things like mani-pedis. Each year, I splurge for one on my birthday. This year, I would have been better off getting a pedicure at a seven-year-old's slumber party. I will never be coming back to Oberlin Nails & Spa. This place seems to care more about cutting corners and reducing the quality of their supplies than actually caring for their customers. read more

I called ahead and made an appointment for after work. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a friendly Hello, instructed to check in, select my color of choice and then shown to a chair. BTW, they have a great selection of colors to choose from. Rachael is always fantastic and gives a great foot massage with the Deluxe Pedi. The salon was recently updated with a beautiful light fixture and brightened up with fresh paint. My sister went in yesterday to Oberlin Nails and Spa, and she came home with the most HORRIBLE nail job I have ever seen in my entire life. I was once a licensed nail technician, and I would have trusted my dog to do a better job, at least she would have had a chance to get a boyfriend. The acrylic was all pitted, and uneven, it was on her skin and over her cuticles, and one nail was even crooked! My sister paid him $67 plus a tip, which my sister tips very well, and was even gracious when calling back to complain and ask for a redo rather than embarrassing him, which is MORE GRACIOUS than I would have ever been. I have gone to oberlin, i have had my own nails done there when Lily owned it, and it was absolutely the best nails I ever had, but sadly the new owner could give two sh*ts, and even suggested my sister never come back. Who does that? The quality has seriously gone down hill of this establishment. I almost hate to say it, but if he could care less about the treatment of his customers, does sterilization and sanitation even matter between customers? If they are not pulling out new tools from sealed sterile packaging, you do not know if they have ensured proper sterilization in the autoclave, which is necessary to kill off any blood borne pathogens. Each and every tool should be taken out of a sterile package in front of the customer, which i doubt very much is happening! I do not suggest ever going to this salon! read more

My first visit and won't be my last! Great pedicure and saw a color I had not been able to find in forever!

The prices are low. This is in their favour. The location is great, and I walked in, and didn't have to wait long at all to have someone start my pedicure. The pedicure itself though wasn't the greatest. The application of nail polish was extremely messy, and I had to repeatedly ask that polish be removed from my toes, having spilled over the nails. The man putting it on kept blaming my nails as if they personally kept moving around making his life hard (they didn't. regular, stationary nails here) Also, its one week later, and I've noticed no base coat was applied, to protect the nails from staining, and my nails have taken on a bit of the maroon in the nail polish. Probably not going back as I could paint my nails better than that at home. read more

I'm used to having a nail salon around every corner of my apartment, and with that type of competition, a mani/pedi usually goes for 21 total(not including tip). It's hard for me to muster up the will to go out and spend almost twice that at a suburban nail salon. This place is decent, but I do miss my complimentary shoulder massages while my nails dry. Some of the colors are pretty watered down, but they do take their time and apply an extra coat if necessary. I see a lot of repeat customers which is nice, the staff is friendly, but once my wedding month is over, I don't see myself going there as often as I have been. read more

You guys I truly never write reviews but I am so passionate about oberlin nails. I started coming here when I was in college at NC State because it was close and cheap. In the 5 years that I've been coming here, I have both moved away and made more money but I still come back. The staff here are sweet and always have a smile on their faces. The owner lily is an incredible business woman who addresses customers by name and knows where every singe color in their huge collection is. I am beyond disappointed in the service I received today. Not only did she speak on the phone for the entirety of my manicure, she would also tug and pull my leg(s) during the pedicure. It is also almost $15 more expensive than my regular salon on Avent Ferry- but I read the reviews and thought I would have a better experience. Pros: They have an insanely good color selection- almost every brand had at least 10 polishes and there was a large variation in choices. They also use a tub liner which is nice. Cons: She washed the pedicure tools as my legs were still in the water.. I understand it's my own skin but all I could think about was my dead skin floating around. I'm new in Raleigh and a friend was visiting from out of town and we decided to get pedicures together. I yelped to find a highly rated salon. When I picked out my polishes and brought them over to the chair one of them slipped as I handed them to the technician and broke on the floor. It spattered all over my new suede sandals so after apologizing profusely I ran to the rest room and tried to get the polish off of them as quickly as possible (which unfortunately didn't work and was a huge bummer but I shook it off, returned to the chair and resolved myself to enjoy the rest of the experience with my friend). When I checked out I saw there was a $10 charge for nail polish on my ticket. Confused, I asked "Do you charge extra for the nail polish?" And she said "it's for the one you broke!" If I was in a restaurant and broke a glass I wouldn't expect to have a $10 extra charge for that glass on my bill! I was surprised and told her I didn't think that was right and she said "that's our policy". So if you go, be careful that you don't accidentally break anything! Better yet, do yourself a favor and find a more client-friendly salon! I was hoping to find a great nail salon in my new town but will obviously not return. read more

Inconsistent treatment and lack of concern for customer foot care. On Sunday, December 16, 2018, I was a patron at the Oberlin Nail Spa, regrettably I received less than expected or paid for treatment. My pedicure was rushed, nails cut too low and cuticles clean up performed with haste leaving my toes sore and possibly at risk of infection. There was no customary application of a base coat, and when messing up a nail; the technician was satisfied with an unacceptable rude fix. Although she fixed the issue after being asked; I got the sense she was aggravated. If anyone should be aggravated, it is me for my service cost no less than others in the salon receiving similar services. The staff is so friendly. They remember me when I come in and always accommodate an appointment and walk ins. I have acrylics and they do such a beautiful job blending the edges so growing out is not so obvious. Not sure why all the negative reviews! I always have a positive experience here. The one woman is great at fixing my ingrown toenail - something I used to have to go to a podiatrist for. Clean, friendly, I come with my fiance or friends sometimes too. I will say that I've gone for a date and thought by getting the deluxe pedicure we would get something a little more special... seeing that my fiance doesn't need any color, but it was as good as the basic pedicure. Also, sometimes I wish they would spend as much time on him as they do on me because obviously getting color takes longer and he's just waiting there. Overall though, this isn't much different than what I've experienced at other nail salons. I really like the people who work here and the experience in general. read more

NEVER GO TO THIS SALON! It is VERY unsanitary. PLEASE, please, please keep reading so you don't make the same mistake I did. I just moved to Raleigh in February and was looking for a new salon to get my nails done at as I used to get them done regularly back home in Colorado. I went to Oberlin Nails and got a pedicure/shellac manicure and within a week, I developed a rash on both of my legs. I thought it would go away and couldn't figure out what was causing the rash. The rash turned into full blown fluid filled bumps ALL over my legs. I finally went to the dermatologist and they prescribed me antibiotics to hopefully cure the embarrassing lumps on my leg, however the lumps are now starting to scar. It is partly my fault for shaving my legs before going into the salon but I have always done that previously at my salon back home and have never had a problem. The staff was very friendly but they need to invest more time and money into providing sanitary equipment because I am absolutely appalled and disgusted with what has happened to my legs! read more

I decided to try Oberlin Nails & Spa because it's the next closest nail place by me. I came on a Saturday afternoon and the place was PACKED! Judging from the conversations I was overhearing, most of the customers were repeaters and were coming back based on prior great experiences. Awesome, I thought - maybe this will become my new staple too! Alas, no. Positives: 1. My french tips were impeccable. The best width, shape I've probably ever had. 2. My manicurist was concerned for my cuticles and told me several times to keep them vaselined. I thought that was nice. Negatives: 1. The clear coat/top coat that went on after the tips bubbled. I was placed in the dryer for quite some time before anybody gave me the time of day. I let them know about the bubbles immediately afterwards and my manicurist was nice enough to fix several nails. I'd never had that happen before and was a bit disappointed. 2. Something that the salon used had a reaction with my skin. The tips of my fingers peeled off over the course of several days after my manicure. While it wasn't painful or itchy, the peeling was uncomfortable and unattractive. 3. Maybe it was because the salon was so busy, but I felt juggled around. It would've been ok if everything had gone smoothly, but when I needed help, I didn't feel like my manicurist was around for me to talk to. read more

This is a great nail salon and super convenient for me, since I call the Apartments at Oberlin Court home. It has a steady stream of fans that come in after the work day and is nicely placed in line with Gigi's Cupcakes, Massage Envy and Rita's as a weekend/post-work relaxation destination. It's pretty standard as far as nail salons go (massage pedicure chairs, stacks of magazines, typical prices), but the manicurists are extremely nice and thorough. They also have a 10% off coupon on their website! I got a pedicure and manicure last time I went and was in and out within an hour. And that was only because I like to take my time to dry my nails before going out into the big, bad nail-chipping world. My manicure lasted almost two weeks, chip-free! I have to say the positive of this place is they take walk ins pretty quickly. Other than that I'd spend your money elsewhere. I'm getting a $27 classic pedicure and the package includes sea exfoliation, foot massage, aloe cream and hot towel. They combine the exfoliation and massage for only 5 minutes. I'd like to think that when they list them as separate items you get that, separate treatments. Therefore, this is an expensive nail cut and paint job. This will be my first and last time coming to this salon. Happier feet elsewhere! They are also not busy at all and I feel rushed for some reason. You would think a nail salon would have nice customer service. I went there with my mom because my regular nail salon PaintBase. I went online and saw that both Nail and Mani were $15. We got our reservation and went got our nails done (which were very pretty). But, there was a problem. The lady I was with was digging her nails into mine to get some of the paint she messed up on off of my skin. which hurt. (she did this on both hands and feet) When I got up to the register I expected to pay $30. $15 for hands $15 for feet and boy was I shocked at the price she listed. "$60 please". I did not get gel. I know i didn't because they messed up while she was doing my feet and rubbed the mistake of gel off. I paid though- but gave no tip because I was furious. Over the next week I started to notice my big foot was in a lot of pain. I ignored it and cut off a bit of the nail thinking that it was just a pointy end. The next week was tech week for my schools theatre and it felt like my toe was being stabbed. Then today at work I couldn't stop feeling the pain and looked at it. (WARNING COULD BE GRAPHIC) When i saw it my foot was encircled in a swollen purple and had pus sitting right at the cuticle of the edge of my foot where it had been hurting all day. Being a lifeguard I got a first aid kit and began working on it. Using Sterile Alcohol Pads to clean it off. Then it popped. It was a sticky off white almost pale green color (thank god i was wearing gloves). I cleaned it up with water and put a bandaid on it. If you want to get scammed off your money and get a week long infection like I did by all means please go there. If you do not want that I suggest another place. It really does sadden me that I had to make this review. My family had been coming to this Salon since we moved here. Now- I don't want to come back. read more
