This place is a disaster. We came here last night and ordered 4 scoops of ice cream. One in a cone the rest in a cup. No toppings. Nothing fancy. Just 4 scoops. The girl that took the order told us it would be a couple of minutes. FIFTY MINUTES LATER we got our 4 scoops. FIFTY MINUTES. I don't know who is managing this place. But it was unacceptable. Oberweis dairy ice cream is located on Randall Road south of interstate 20. It is tucked behind a few businesses but easily accessible. I stopped in on this occasion to get one of their famous chocolate malts. Their ice cream is divine. Their chocolate malt is the second best one I've ever had in my lifetime. Second only to Al's Ice Creamery in downtown Elgin, which is the old famous Burns pharmacy chocolate Malt that used to be located on Bluff City Blvd some 50+ years ago. Oberweis gets it right with just the perfect amount of malt. It comes with a cookie straw and a fair amount of whipped cream. If you've never had the pleasure of trying one of their ice cream delicacies, stop in and give them a try, you won't be disappointed with anything their on the menu. Yum! Oberweis has some of my favorite ice cream in all of suburban Chicago. My go-to is usually a hefty scoop of peanut butter chocolate. It's rich, and sweet, and salty at the same time. It's absolutely decadent. While aren't lucky enough to have an Oberweis retail location in the Milwaukee area, we are lucky in that Sendik's carries their milk products. They're presented in old fashioned glass bottles, and you have to pay a small deposit that's refunded upon return to the grocer. If you happen to find them at Sendik's, be sure to grab a bottle of the chocolate milk. It's really some of the best around. read more

The service was terrible, people had to wait over a half an hour for their ice cream. The employees moved slow and had no urgency for the customers. I was brought my ice cream half empty after 15 minutes, we sent it back and it took another 15 minutes to remake a simple frostbite. The employees are giggling and talking amongst themselves instead of serving the 15 customers waiting for their paid for ice cream. They ran out of many toppings and didnt let me know till 20 minutes after my order. Someone needs to run this place right and get their employees to do their job. read more

I was totally expecting a high quality ice cream with the premium prices Oberweis charges. This was my first and last time to buy Oberweis ice cream. First I ordered an old fashioned and it looked delicious when I got it, but as I started to try and enjoy it I realized it was more like a soup with how bad it was melted. It was no lore than a few minutes later from when I pulled away from the drive through window with my order. Secondly, my 3 boys and wife got cones and they couldn't get over how bad the ice cream smelled. It was this smelly cheese smell that was overbearing. Great ice cream and shakes!! I came here and had the chocolate marshmallow ice cream with sprinkles. The cholate ice cream is light and not heavy like a lot of chocolate ice cream. I wish you could taste more marshmallow in it though. Two of us came here for ICE-CREAM. Was a little baffled at first, since this was my first time @ any Oberweis, but I made my own sundae in a bowl - got the Dark Chocolate and Chocolate Peanut butter with hot fudge/pecans/cheese cake bites. It was Yummy. My friend got the chocolate chip and dark chocolate with Hot Fudge/M&Ms in a nuts dipped Waffle Bowl. The decor of this place was pretty good and I really like couple of tables where they had a chess board in them and we ended up eating ice cream and playing chess. It was overall great experience. Pros: 1. Ice cream is super rich in flavor and super tasty. 2. They have a lot of game boards, so I can definitely imagine myself taking some time here and playing with a bunch of buddies with some ice creams for bites. Cons: 1. The service is SLOW. Like really quite slow when it takes 20 minutes to make some ice cream with only two people in front of us. 2. Spending about $10 for my ice cream is really $2/2.5 more than actual worth 3. Please have a see-through glass bowl so that we can see how the flavors look adn what each of them contain, so that it's easier to make the choice. We need samples as well :D read more

Edit - I've downgraded the rating from 5 to 4 stars because I've tried Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, which blew me away. I've enjoyed a lot of their other flavors - black cherry (my personal favorite), chocolate, dulce de leche, butter brickle (wish there was a thick caramel swirl though), cookies and cream, vanilla, strawberry, peach, birthday cake, apple strudel, butter pecan, chocolate chip, cinnamon, key lime pie and blueberry pie (needed more pie crust!). Please note that I did not try all these flavors over the span of one year, but that this was done throughout my childhood, adolescence, and young adult years haha. - One quart container is a little under $7, and if you buy 3 qts, you get the 4th free. - Their ice cream has high fructose corn syrup though. In comparison to Ben & Jerry's, Oberweis flavors tends to have less mix-ins unfortunately. On a side note, I've also tried their large-sized turtle sundae to-go. My gawd, they gave me a ton of fudge and caramel. And their milkshakes were good, but honestly, I'm more of an ice cream gal. read more

Stopped in for our favorites to enjoy in the instore glass dishes and real spoons, not plastic. We had visitors from Colorado and had been bragging this place up. We brought are guest this past Friday for the icecream patlor experience just to be very disappointed We were served our order in paper cups. When I asked why we were given our irder in to go cups the responce was that they just washed all of there glass dishes and they were to warm. It was 10:15 pm but we have been in before at this time and had no issues at all. Usually there is a group of youg ladies on Friday night working and the customer service is amazing!!!
