Tried something different and went with an assortment of gourmet cupcakes to celebrate for my son's graduation today. The vibes here are awesome and the treats were DELICIOUS! NGL the carrot cake (cream cheese frosting - not overly sweet and not too dense which is what I prefer!) and double chocolate were perfection and I'm glad we got 2 of each. The salted caramel was also in my top 3 from the flavors we tried. DEFINITELY coming back here again to try other creations and flavors. Immediately followed all socials so I can get special updates. These went very quickly with our small family get together!! Haha we also tried a strawberry banana smoothie which was quite yummy! I was craving something sweet, but I didn't want something as basic at Starbucks or Dunkin so I googled around some nearby bakeries and I found this place. I'm not sure how new this place is to the area, but it is new to me as I moved away from Elgin and I've come back a year ago so this was a pleasant surprise. I decided to go in and the interior was very beautiful with pink and floral motifs all around. I was warmly greeted by the baker, as I'm sure he was busy in the back. I ordered a pack of four cupcakes. I was interested in as well as a smoothie and went on my merry way. When I got home, I enjoyed the almond wedding cake cupcake and it was very delicious! Not too sweet, but very elegant and just what I would definitely serve or like to see in a high-end party or event of some kind. This is by far the most ridiculous example of a cupcake shop I've ever seen. They never have flavors in stock. Their ingredients clearly taste like nothing but cheap dollar store quality items. Which is fine... if you weren't charging 6$ for a mediocre cupcake. Aside from the cupcakes, the macarons are probably the sole reason France asked for the Statue of Liberty back. I have never tasted suck a disgusting, stale macaron in my entire life. I would sooner let my 2 year neice make me macrons out of dirt and leaves than return here. Aside from this, the place is clearly understaffed. There is only one employee working at all times, which to their credit do amazing. However, I suppose it makes sense as there seem to be few customers.... The store is unbelievably childish. With AI artwork all over the menu, and walls. It's truly disgusting that the owners didn't even have the common sense to shop for actual decor. TLDR: Cheap, mediocre cupcakes, for "gourmet prices", AI menu and decor, incompetent owners. We were on the road to Lake Geneva and my husband found Sunshine's Cupcakery. He always finds a cupcake for me when we're traveling. I used to be a cupcake baker and am a cupcake fanatic so it's fun to try new places. What a find! This place is adorable with its pink decor and flower wall. Very inviting. The cupcakes are AMAZING! The frosting is creamy and not overly sweet. The cake is so moist, and the cupcake is a good size, too. No skimping here. I've tried cupcakes all over the states, plus in countries like Australia and Italy and everywhere in between. These cupcakes are the best I've ever had. Seriously!! The only thing missing is a cappuccino/espresso maker. I recommend this cupcake bakery. Support small business! read more

the BEST red velvet cupcakes live in this bakery! My family and I stopped in recently and I honestly wished I lived closer because they would see me multiple times throughout the week. This will be my new sweet treat place when I'm in town. The interior is so cute and peaceful. Anyone that likes desserts and cupcakes should give this place a try. The cupcakes are bigger than the average and for the price I think it's affordable. The owner was really nice and answered any questions that I had. They had a few flavors already sold out so head in early if you want the full selection. I got the red velvet, carrot cake, salted caramel, and German chocolate. Overall they were moist and fluffy. I stopped by for the first time today and will definitely be back. I chatted for a while with the owner who was charming and friendly. I brought home one lemon and one carrot cake cupcake. I had the lemon tonight and it was delicious. Perfect texture and flavor. Not too sweet and lots of lemon flavor.
