After researching for a barber for my two teen boys, I kept seeing Amberia's name over and over. I was afraid she'd be booked up but when I looked at her schedule online, I was pleasantly surprised to be able to schedule the boys for cuts the following day. Obsession is located within the larger Venus Salon. We showed up for our 1pm appointment and she was just finishing up so we had less than a five minute wait. Amberia was super sweet and her room within the salon was nice and clean. She talked with my boys to find out what they wanted. Her personality kept us laughing almost the whole time. She was very helpful with suggestions and helped my oldest son with ideas on how to maintain his curly/frizzy hair. My youngest opted for a shampoo after his cut and is still talking about the warm towel she wrapped around his face and how awesome the experience was. He's 13 and extremely picky about his hair and he was impressed. :) We walked out of the appointment right at the one hour mark, so she was able to get both boys in and finish up on time. Very sweet lady and knows her stuff. Everything about Amberia and her salon is what we've been looking for. Everything from the initial booking online to the actual appointment was perfect. We love Amberia as a person, but the last time we went to her, she cut my son's hair way too short. He was unhappy about the results and said he didn't want to go back because of the miscommunication and the fact that she blamed him for not making it clear what he wanted. I understand that poor communication can happen, but i felt that he showed her a picture and explained decently well what he wanted. I was disappointed because she didn't accept responsibility on her part. My husband had also gone to her with my son the time before this happened. We live about 30 minutes away, but thought it was worth it to drive that far when you find someone you really like. So, when they went together and both had their hair cut, my husband felt that their haircuts were not that great to justify the distance. We keep wanting to go back, but for fear of something not going well, we have decided to find someone closer to home. We do hope and pray her business is successful and she continues to grow in her customer service. I would suggest that when someone is telling you that they are displeased and feel that you did not give them the haircut they asked for, a great customer service point might be to apologize and offer a significant discount on the next hair cut. She is sweet and friendly. We miss her for that. read more
