Ripped the cowling off the bottom front of our car making one of those blasted u turns in Ocean City and found this place on Google as the closest shop. Dude was outside helping another customer when we pulled and said he'd be with as soon as he was done. 10 minutes later he has the cowling pinned back up on our car and said it would be 5 bucks. I gave him $20 and thanked him profusely. With so many out of town visitors he could have tried to give us but he couldn't have been more honest. Besides that he owned one the cleanest Mustang 5.0 I have seen. Definitely recommend. read more

I was visiting Ocean City for 5 days to take some time off of work. A one-way trip to OC is about 3 hours for me. On my way in, my car started to make some unusual noises. Based on the sound and the way the steering wheel was behaving, I strongly suspected the problem had something to do with the wheels. I figured I should just get it looked at while I was in Ocean City before things could get any worse. When you are in town for only a few days, the auto mechanics know they have you on a hook because you have no other option. This was a big concern of mine, but what choice did I have? I browsed various reviews for auto repair shops in OC. The reviews for OC Affordable looked promising so I gave them a try. I brought my car in to get the problem diagnosed. I didn't get the name of the only mechanic there, so let's just call him John, as in John Dillinger. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Dillinger About 2 hours later I received a call from John saying that I needed a new motor mount. What? I need a new motor mount? That didn't sound right to me, but what could I say? I had to pay a deposit of $278.10 to ensure that I would come back the following day when the motor mount came in. I brought the car back the following day and paid the remaining amount of $277.57 after the motor mount was installed. After I drove off, I didn't notice any change whatsoever. My car was still making an unusual noise. I also noticed that when I got my car back, it was parked in the exact same position as I left it (parked in reverse, exact same spot, same position). I don't think John even took my car for a test drive to get an idea of the problems my car had. A few days later, I left Ocean City and went back home. The sound my car was making seemed to intensify as I was going home. I was concerned that something catastrophic was going to happen before I got home. As I came back into town, I immediately dropped off my car at the mechanic I usually go to and asked them to look into the problem. The next day, the mechanic called back and told me that the shocks & struts were bad, along with the bearings in the wheel among other things. So it did have something to do with the wheels as I suspected. I asked if a bad motor mount could have been responsible for creating the sounds my car was making and my mechanic even said the motor mount had nothing to do with the problem I was experiencing. This means that I was charged over $550 for something that didn't fix the problem. John knows exactly what he was doing. Of course he knows, he's a mechanic. He knowingly charged me for something that had nothing to do with the problems my car had. That establishes an intent. What does that say about John and how honest this guy is? I had my mechanic do all the necessary repairs. I retained all documentation. I had my mechanic send me an email confirming that the motor mount had nothing to do with the problems my car had. I gathered, scanned and saved all documentation to support my case, then I called my credit card company and filed a chargeback/dispute. The charges were immediately credited back to my account while the dispute was in progress. It took over 30 days to resolve. Near the end of the dispute period, I called my credit card company for a status and they said that they were waiting to hear back from OC Affordable or their bank. I don't think John even responded with anything to prove his side of the story, because he knows he was wrong. John knows that most people won't bother going through all the trouble of gathering all documentation and filing a chargeback with their credit card company. It's easier to just forget about it. This is what he is counting on and he knows what he is doing. If they did the same thing to you as they did to me, don't stand for it. Don't let them get away with this type of behavior. Take the time to gather all relevant documentation to support your case. Scan and save everything on your computer. Force yourself to do this immediately. Don't postpone. Then call your credit card company and file a chargeback. It takes at least 30 days for the dispute to be resolved so it's a good idea to write your Yelp review immediately and save it on your hard drive while all relevant information is fresh in your mind. Then you can add to your review later as needed. My husband & I drove from central NJ headed to Ocean City, MD for our 10th anniversary . We planned on staying from 8/9 and leaving on 8/18. But on 8/14 we noticed that our left rear tire had PSI of only 13! This was a drop from 34 PSI the other 3 tires still maintained. We drove down the street from the hotel on Coastal Highway and found OC Affordable Auto Repair at 5 Philadelphia Ave, Ocean City, MD 21842. We brought our car there ASAP fearing a disaster on our 4 hour drive back to NJ. The "tech" at OC used a small bottle of soapy water which reveled no bubbles therefore supposedly no leak. But we knew there was because we'd watched is all week. My husband asked that he take the tire off and put it in water to get a better result. The TECH WAS NOT ONLY RUDE, HE REFUSED TO HELP EVEN WHEN WE SAID WE'D PAY. Now does driving on a tire with an obvious hole sound safe to drive TO YOU? With no other options, we filled the tire with air as often as we could stop at a station and drove to Mavis in Bridgewater, NJ. WE HIGHLY recommend them. They dunked the tire in a tub of water and immediately the hole punctured by a screw became visible. My husband and I have 4 children who have driven our car before. Imagine if it had blown while they there driving? I'm a MAMAN BEAR, and most of you know what that means. PROTECT THE LITTLE ONES AS WELL AS YOUR SELF and others. So OC AFFORDABLE won't be able to afford lawsuits since they don't give a damn. read more

It is never fun to have to get your car fixed on vacation. I dropped my van off at 7:30 (before they opened at 8:00 am). I got a call by 10:00 am saying that the car was fixed and it was what he had suspected from our phone conversation the night before. I felt that the price was more than fair since they really could have jacked up the price. They fixed a leftover caliper problem from my trusted hometown mechanic's rotor replacement from the week before that got worse on my 4.5 hour drive to OC. On 5/20/2023, a new alternator was installed in my Honda Odyssey car. In July, we were returning home to Philadelphia. On the expressway, the alternator belt broke and we miraculously did not crash because the steering wheel did not work. We called an emergency vehicle that took us to Philadelphia, before that we waited 3 hours in the heat, it was Sunday. It cost us $900, plus a $200 belt replacement. Later, the cause of the breakdown was discovered, the generator was poorly secured. Photos and videos were taken of this negligent work that could lead to death of people. I would like to receive an answer and compensation for our expenses from the owner of this company. This is a very serious organization on which the safety of people depends. read more

On a recent visit to OCMD, for my daughter's birthday a screw found its way into my tire, I was extremely upset because I just bought all four tires 7 months ago The hotel clerk told me to go to OC Affordable Auto Repair, riding on my spare, I did and was very happy with my outcome!! Giving one star to this place is even being generous. I had to have my car towed here on my vacation in Ocean City, Maryland. The car sat for THREE DAYS without being looked at. The mechanic Kevin is extremely rude and disrespectful. I called everyday asking for an update and he said things like "are you going to keep bothering me?" "You better get more days at your hotel because this is going to be really expensive." "How can I fix your car if you keep calling me?" On the third day, I got the car towed to another mechanic who fixed it in one day and it was only $205. Kevin is out for money. He ordered parts without even looking at the car. He runs a half ass business and clearly doesn't care about anyone besides himself. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! Mike Dent Automotive was our savior. Whatever you do ...DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE !!! This was the most unprofessional dishonest shop I have ever been to. I called ahead to make sure they had time to look at my car as I was having it towed they assured me they did. After calling three times and giving my contact info twice I stopped by to see if I could speak to someone and was not able to. After waiting more then 24 hours for a call and quote I called them and was told they would call me back with a price. Once again waiting 24 hours for a call I called them and they had put in a part without asking and then it didn't repair the problem so then they want to charge me for the repair and junk my car. Bottom line is I had to pay them a fee and sign over my title all over my car overheating. BEWARE !!!! Our truck broke down on the first day of our trip to Ocean City. Roadside assistance towed us to OC Affordable Auto Repair. Communication with this establishment was non-existent after the truck was towed there. No one answered the phone and the VM was full. We realized at that point we were probably going to have some issues. The next morning, I made another attempt to call. Same thing. No answer/VM full. My husband and I decided to take a Lyft to the service station in order to speak to anyone available about the necessary repairs. It was a larger ticket repair (fuel pump). We were told that the part would be ordered and available the next day (ordered from a dealership because of the type of vehicle). Totally understandable as we have a 2500. We were THANKFULLY able to get one more night at our resort (which was full). The Owner of OC Affordable promised to have the truck ready the next morning in time for checkout...which turned noon by the end of the conversation. My husband decided the next morning to take a Lyft down and sit and wait for our truck until it was completed as we couldn't spend another night in OC waiting for this repair to be completed. The owner tried to advise my husband to go back to the hotel to wait. With the difficulties reaching people on the phone at OC affordable, he decided to wait it out...about 4 hours. My advice? CALL AROUND if you find yourself in need of an automotive repair in Ocean City. The customer service at this place is pretty much zero. It's pretty awful that it takes hours and 60 bucks in Lyft fares to accomplish what a 60 second phone call would have. read more

My right rear tire started to make a noise as we were heading to Rehoboth Beach - we were staying in OC. Called this station and explained the issue. The gentleman that I spoke to said he would take a look at it but I might need to leave it for the night. I told him we would be there ASAP. He told me they close at 5 but are there till about 5:15. I knew it would be tight because of traffic but I said I would be there as soon as I could. We were about 25 minutes away. We got to the station and this man was so condescending and rude to me. I said that I called. He acted like he didn't talk to anyone and then suddenly remembered but made the comment that he wanted to leave. By the time we got to the station the noise stopped but I thought he would at least be able to check the tire to make sure it was okay. (I'm vacationing with 2 young girls and their mother and none of us know anything about vehicles so was very happy to have someone check it out.) Finally he said he would look at the tire but we could tell he wasn't happy to do so. He said he didn't see anything. I thanked him for his time, but if this man would have been professional, I would have given him money for his time. I told the girls to be sure to stay away from people like this man. No need to treat women like they are stupid and inferior. The way I look at it is that I'm not educated on vehicles and would expect professionalism from those that are trained. I certainly am glad not all service staff are like this man! I have to wonder if he has a wife, female children, nieces, or granddaughters and if so, does he treat them like they are idiots? To me, a professional would assist people in a kind and considerate manner. So my message - if you're a female in need of car assistance in Ocean City, don't go to this repair shop! The work was a minor issue, cable to battery was loose. This minor repair cost us $100. Anywhere else a loose cable should have cost much less. So I had my car towed to their shop, I called and told them that I believe my water pump is broken due to the smoke and where I saw it leaking and the smell of antifreeze and asked them to see if that was the issue. They had my car for almost two weeks every time I called they kept telling me that they are still looking at it then they would be really rude or never answer the phone, I saw it sitting outside so I walked in and asked what was wrong with it and they told me the cost it was over 1k and they replaced everything without calling me. They told me they lost my number which my car was there before and is in their computer. So I paid it drove it home same issue still smoking and smelling like antifreeze then my head lights, cruise control, and heat were not working so I took it back in the shop. The guy who greeted me was nice and the guy who worked on my car wasn't working that day and another mechanic swore up and down that it was an oil leak and he would look to see where it was coming from and I told them please don't replace or repair anything without calling me first. The next day I get to the shop they told me they forgot go plug everything back in and that it was free. Did not tell me where the oil leak was coming from, so I drove it around to see if everything was normal so I came to a stop and now my car is smoking worse and the smell is now oil burning I figured it was just oil from them working on it and that it should burn off so I stopped at a friend's house let it run then it just stops running when I put it in park and the smoke was so bad that you have thought my car was on fire. I popped open the hood to see if I could see where it was coming from and I couldn't see where then I got under it and it was oil spilling out and I know I had a small oil leak and it never smoked or anything. So now my car is useless and I paid over 1k for them to just mess car up so bad that I cannot even drive it since they took all my money. Had an issue with my brakes. Called the location to see if they would be able to fix my car since we were on vacation. Dropped off my car, folks said they would call me within the hour with an estimate for time and price. Never got a call, 2 hours later I called and they said they didn't have the correct part to fix my car and had to wait for the next order to come and they still didn't provide a price. 2 more hours later, no calls no updates so I call back. Now they are telling me the parts just arrived and it may not be get finished today even though they said they could and again, no price on the repair. I told them that I would like my car back and I'd pay for the services rendered. The man advised that I couldn't have my own car back. Had to call local police to get them to release my car. My wifes suv broke down on a Saturday evening recently. I looked on the web and they are the only one open on a Sunday. Got the vehicle towed there on Sunday morning told them what I thought it was based on the symptoms relayed to me by a friend who looked at her vehicle for me who was down there and I was not. They diagnosed with 2 hours and it was the alternator as we thought. They got the parts on Sunday and had the vehicle repaired by Monday morning as I requested. The cost was reasonable as I thought it should be. Very nice and fair people for an auto repair shop. Your biggest fear is breaking down when you are in a resort town and being at the mercy of unscrupulous repair shops not the case here.
