I contacted them to get a quote to participate in an Edison program to upgrade my electrical panel. I had been told by my insurance company that I must upgrade to renew my policy. Pete came to my home to inspect and quote the job. He was so professional, considerate and kind. He looked over my panel and my homes electrical needs and he wondered why my insurance company would require this change. He didn't see a need for the upgrade under my current circumstances. After his visit, I contacted my insurance company and found they were misinformed about the type of panel I had and once this info was corrected....I no longer had to do an upgrade. Although I ended up not doing business with Pete's company, I am thankful for how he handled this. I never felt any pressure from him to do this job. Amazing!!!! We were looking for an electrician to add a subpanel, outlets, and lighting to our unfinished garage. Armes Electric was wonderful--efficient from beginning to end. My initial consultation was with Pete, who arrived on time as scheduled. We discussed what we wanted, and he offered helpful suggestions while clearly explaining the scope of work. He estimated the job would take a day and a half to complete. On the first day, we were told the technicians would arrive between 8:00 and 9:00 AM, and they showed up a few minutes early. Daniel and four additional team members came to complete the work. I wasn't expecting that many people, but everyone stayed focused on their tasks and completed the work by 5 PM. Having a larger crew made the job go much faster. The second day of work took place a couple of days later due to other projects we had scheduled, but Armes Electric was very accommodating and flexible with our timeline. We requested a walkthrough to see if we wanted to switch out lighting in the middle of a kitchen remodel so it was not likely necessary but we needed to have a conversation about our options. They were so honest and upfront about what we should do and the advice was that what we have is good but they can upgrade us however it was going to cost X. We told them we cannot upgrade at this time but they were so helpful they let us know exactly what we can buy on our own and have our contractor install the items as part of the remodel. Anything we ever need in the future, I am calling this company. I had two other highly rated electricians come out to see about replacing LED lights in the kitchen that had started going out. They came out, examined the lights, said the lights were an unusual small size, told me they'd need to think about it and never called me back. Armes Electric, on the other hand, came out, looked at the lights, said they didn't make that light anymore, and I would need to get new ones with a standard can size, but it would require enlarging the current holes in the ceiling and there might be some drywall damage. That was fine with me; after a year of having three of five lights not working (one just being a hole in the ceiling with wires hanging out of it), they took only a couple of hours to refit new cans and lights, and they look fantastic. I like the look of these lights even better than what was there before, kind of a recessed, ridged look to them, and there was no (noticeable) drywall damage at all! They cleaned up afterwards and the cost was competitive. I wish I had a picture of the 'Before' to show the difference. Even though it was a smaller project they did a great job, I couldn't be happier, I wished I'd called them months ago. read more

Contacted Armes via Yelp Projects-- Pete was so helpful and provided suggestions for things to check/try to fix the issue ourselves. The circuit was still not working, so we contacted their office and they sent out a team the same day! I received a text with a very helpful link including all details for my job and also showed the team's live location in route to our house. Jason and Andres arrived promptly, quickly identified the issue, and replaced the problem outlet. They provided a thorough explanation of the issue and took great care in our home :) Shortly after they left, I received a call from Jason saying they forgot to close up our electrical panel. We definitely would not have noticed this ourselves and he came back after hours to close it up for us. But then they called me and said they accidentally sent that text notification prematurely and they'll actually need to be 1.5h late. Ok, sure. 1h 34m hours later, they sent me a text saying they are en route. Yay. But 1h 46m later, their scheduling website said the Status is "In progress" but that's incorrect because they hadn't even arrived yet. I called to see if they were even able to make it out still, but it went to voicemail and i left a message. regarding miscommunication: I told them the gate code, and if they could also check out the electrical panel (through Yelp) but when the electrician called (to tell me he was going to late) and i asked them if they received the gate code, they said no. furthermore, they didn't check out the electrical panel to see if anything would need to be updated for next time, but that's ok b/c i probably won't be using their services again. They arrived at the same time as another vendor I was expecting so I was a bit flustered and didn't go out of my way to ask them to look at the electrical panel because i forgot (and expected them to have already received the work order with those details). Also, when they parked their vehicle, they blocked the driveway so the other vendor (who happened to be driving right behind them) couldn't pull in to park. Granted, they said they weren't sure if they could park in the driveway, for some reason. I didn't give them 1-star b/c as human beings, the electricians themselves were nice people, and they did complete the work of updating a couple of outlets. I recently bought a house knowing the previous owner cut corners with unpermitted work. The 100 amp electrical panel needed an upgrade and there was a mess of wires, poor connections, and double lugged breakers. I reached out to Pete at Armes Electric and he was friendly, knowledgeable, and very responsive. He helped me throughout the process of contacting Edison, city inspections, and even Stucco repair. Pete, the owner, was kind enough to throw in a free EV charger as there was easy access while they were upgrading the main panel. Armando and Jason got the electrical aspect of things done in a day and the photos speak for themselves. A week after the job, multiple lights and outlets went out in a portion of the house. This was on a Friday night. Pete was at my house on Saturday morning. He quickly found the problem and it was unrelated to the panel upgrade. The previous owners were branching multiple circuits from a single power source with a loose wire nut. It's hard to know where to even begin with reviewing Armes Electric, because I have so many wonderful things to say. For starters, the owner Pete is one of the most genuinely kind, funny, and down to earth business men I've met. He not only takes pride in his team's work, but clearly has a tremendous amount of knowledge. When is there ever a good time for your main electrical panel to start melting? Never! Not to mention - how do you find a company with technicians and customer service that knows how to navigate the situation and handle SDGE (not an easy task by any stretch!) with ease and reassures you along the way. Pete went above and beyond not just for the initial service call and complication with SDGE, but throughout the entire process... from learning the gas line was too close to the panel, that parts of the lines were encased in concrete (not a fun surprise, sorry Jason!), I could go on and on! This was not a smooth-sailing job by any means, but wow did Armes Electric pull through. I can't thank Jason and all the technicians who were out here enough! Not to mention, the legendary Pete, who keeps things real, honest, and answers calls from clients and SDGE when it matters most. I will never forget you rolling up to our house after securing the permit and saying "who the hell are you?" to me. Priceless and hilarious. You know who I am now! Haha! The owner of Armes Electric came out to my home to give me a quote to run electrical for an outdoor sauna. I was quoted around $1,300. When I approved the work they scheduled the service and two electricians came. They quickly assessed the job and said it would be much more complicated than originally quoted and that it would likely cost over $5,000. They said they would resend the updated quote. They never sent it. My husband called the owner requesting the updated quote. He said he would get back to him same day and never called back or sent the quote. I highly recommend Armes Electric for your electrical needs. My inquiry began with an email and some photos of an install I had in mind. Basically adding a 20A circuit to my garage - not really needing the wiring run through the walls, my request was specifically to just run the conduit in the garage along the wall. I appreciated receiving a call from David at Armes who requested addtn'l photos of the circuit box that me, not knowing much about electrical, overlooked. I appreciate the attention to detail and not just throwing random quotes at me. David got back to me right away, we scheduled the install and the quote price was spot on. On install day this morning, Armondo came out and was nice enough to ask if it was ok to start a bit early. I agreed and he arrived exactly when he said he would. In the past, our experience has been 5 stars. Armes removed and reinstalled ceiling fans when we moved from Fullerton to Tustin. They established new electrical and hung a large chandelier in our living room when we moved to Laguna Hills. They were knowledgable, professional, & efficient. My most recent experience was average. Got the job done, and my pendant light looks good and works well. Ceiling height is hard for me to estimate so upon questioning (yes, 2 story & vaulted ceiling) the person I spoke to on the phone said it's likely 16-18 feet. It ended up being 19 feet, and I was disappointed that they didn't bring a tall enough ladder. Armes did work on my vaulted ceiling before, and it would have been amazing service if my ceiling height had been noted for future work, though I wouldn't expect that. Anyhow, after retrieving a taller ladder, the work was completed. I was told they would take off half-hour and not charge me for the ladder run. I got the impression one of the guys was new, as I heard a lot of instruction being given. Not a problem, everyone needs to learn. When being charged an hourly rate though, time is money. They showed up at 12 pm, left to get a ladder at 12:15, returned at 12:55, and were cleaned up & out the door at 1:45 pm. I was charged for 1.5 hours, plus $25 "miscellaneous hardware" of which those items were never disclosed to me, besides a standard 60 watt equivalent LED lightbulb (4-pk for $12.98 at Home Depot). Overall, it felt like there was a bias towards upping the time/cost, which in my opinion cost me an additional $100-150. I would consider using Armes again, but maybe not for a simple job like changing out a pendant light with pre-existing electrical, which cost me $400. Update: After seeing my Yelp review, Pete called and spoke to my husband. I assume this is because my husband's name/contact info was on our work order. It would have been more ideal if he had spoken with me personally, since I was the one who was present during installation & submitted the review. Nevertheless, I appreciate that the owner reached out. He cares about his business and customers, and made sure we felt validated regarding the issues we had. We will most likely call Armes again for future electrical needs, and anticipate that the experience will be back up to 5-stars. read more
