A few months ago my husband and I were sick and tired of trying to train our French Bulldog and getting no results. So I found Mike on Yelp and set up an appointment for him to come and train both of our dogs. The Frenchie was the one with the most issues. Mike did an awesome job at explaining why dogs behave the way they do. It was like taking a class on dog psychology! Our dogs responded beautifully! They have so much more respect for us now and listen to all of our commands! Thank you Mike for teaching us how to teach our dogs!

Just wanted to update. It's been eight months since our visit with Mike, and as suspected we only needed one session. Odie is a changed dog, and EVERY DAY we still marvel at how much he changed literally overnight. Best money we ever spent, and if we ever add to our fur family, we're gonna bring in Mike as soon as he's familiar with walking on a leash. It was the best investment we could have made in our VERY spoiled dog. :)

The view from the breakfast table: Banjo and Shadow waiting quietly until we are done eating.

We adopted 2 dogs recently and needed help for several issues: barking, pulling on the leash, begging at the table, nervousness around people, play biting, and jumping. In particular, our 2 year old chihuahua mix Banjo would not listen to ANYTHING we said. Mike arrived, and Banjo did his usual thing, barking nonstop. Mike established himself as the alpha, which made Banjo throw an epic tantrum. Screaming, yapping, biting, peeing, and pooping ensued (all from Banjo, not from Mike!). It wasn't pleasant, but Mike had warned us that these things could happen, and at the end of the tantrum, Banjo was clear about who was in charge. Mike taught us how to communicate with the dogs, and we practiced the alpha walk exercise with Banjo. I thought there was no way that this dog would ever be calm and obedient, so I almost had a heart attack when I turned around and saw Banjo sitting quietly at Mike's feet, with the leash on the ground! In public! At the end of the exercise, when Mike took the leash off of Banjo and stepped back, Banjo went straight over to Mike (not us) for approval and affection, which showed me that Banjo really understood Mike's message. Since the session, Banjo has performed beautifully in our alpha walk practice. I never thought I would be able to meander on the street with a completely loose leash, Banjo quietly trotting behind or beside me and stopping immediately when I stop. We are still working on the barking, but he is definitely improving. I feel like we have a dog we can finally work with, and Banjo seems much calmer and happier overall. Sadly, during our session, our other dog Shadow broke out of our yard and ran away. We were devastated and I emailed Mike to let him know. He called me right away with lots of tips on how to go about finding her and lots of reassurance that lost dogs are usually recovered. He was right -- Shadow returned on her own that night! She's a nervous dog, and her anxiety was up again after the escape, but we've seen a noticeable improvement almost immediately after practicing the techniques that Mike taught us. It's only been a few days since we met with Mike, but I am truly amazed at the improvement. Now when we eat, the dogs run to their open crates and sit quietly until we are done. When we go outside, they wait inside the threshold until we allow them to come out. And today, they have been sitting on the floor quietly until I invite them to jump up on to the couch. My husband doesn't like spending too much money on the dogs, but even he says the K9 Mentor was worth every penny! I would recommend Mike to anyone who has issues with their dogs. He has also been very patient with all of my questions and emails both before and after the session. Thanks, Mike!

Klouds is calm and able to listen to mommy and daddy. Thank you uncle Mike! ^_~

I just rescued a "1" year old street dog from Mexico. She is an IG/chi mix and very timid. She is friendly to everyone but my husband. She gets really aggressive around him, barking and lunging and has even snapped at him. Can you help?

Please review our website www.thek9mentor.com or contact us by phone (949) 229-2789 to discuss specific training questions. Thank you.

I have a 6 year old chihuahua turning 7, he's always been aggressive towards other people including his household.. only listens to our father + he's very protective over him. My question is, would it be to "late" to get him behavior corrected?

I can train a dog at any age but usually the people need to learn what to do with the dog to change the behavior. If he unwanted behavior has been going on for several years it takes a lot longer to change.

We just adopted 3yrs old Bloodhound mix boy who has super strong separation anxiety. He's been breaking the door frame, blinds, windows, even broke and escaped from his crate while we were out for getting his treats and toys. What should we do...?

You'll want to hire a trainer. Visit www.thek9mentor.com for more info. When you call, the recording that greets you will answer your questions as well.

Hi so I have a 1 year old lab/pit mix who's agressive is this something that can be trained?

Be cautious if a trainer is willing to answer this question without more info first. For me to be able to give you an honest answer, I would need to discuss the situation with you first. Please call 949-229-2789 and I'll be happy to help you out.

Hi! I left two voicemails but have not heard back. Are you accepting appointments? Thanks!

I am. You left one yesterday and one today. Unfortunately I am traveling yesterday and today and will not be able to return calls until tomorrow. I try to get back to clients promptly but it can take a few days at times.

Do you think k9 mentor can help me with my 6 month old pup. I just adopted him and he shows a lack in socialization with other people and dogs. He is also very anxious, do you think he could help me with this problem?

I should be able to help. Call me at 949-229-2789. Please listen to the entire greeting before selecting an extension.

What is the cost for the in-home training?

Do you work with aggressive pure bred rottweilers?

Each situation is different and not so simple that I can say if I could work with your dog. Please call us at 949-229-2789 and we can discuss it further.

I was ready to move out with Charlie from the house we had just bought with my mother-in-law because his barking was driving her crazy. Johnnie was patient, knowledgeable, and explained everything in a way that was easy for us to understand and practice at home. The results were noticeable right away. Charlie learned to stop excessive barking, respond consistently to the "leave it" command, and the "place" command has been a game changer for helping him stay calm and settled when guests come over or when things get busy around the house especially at the door and in front of the house. Charlie is also now comfortable riding in a car with us going places, when before he was a shaky mess. Johnny also supported us through Charlie's picky eating. I have been able to contact Johnny with numerous questions and he always responds with helpful advise. Best of all we are covered for anything that comes up with Charlie for the rest of his life. What we appreciated most was that Johnnie didn't just train Charlie--he taught us how to communicate with and lead our dog confidently. His guidance gave us the tools to continue reinforcing the training, and we've seen a huge improvement in Charlie's behavior. We highly recommend Johnnie Jumper and Bark Busters to anyone looking for professional, effective dog training. Thank you for helping Charlie become a happier, calmer, and better-behaved member of our family! Happy to report I don't have to move out of my home because of my dogs excessive barking! My boyfriend and I took in our cattle dog, Ollie, as a stray almost 4 months ago. Quick background: Ollie was found tied to a fire hydrant outside my work. Ollie is the sweetest boy, however is very reactive to other dogs and is a bundle of energy that presents as endless jumping and nipping. We have a senior Saint Bernard at home in which Ollie has been too rough/aggressive with her, even when our Saint Bernard makes it known that she doesn't want to be bothered. We tried water sprays at home and other attempts at training to no avail. We began to feel helpless as our biggest concern was his relationship with our Saint Bernard, as it got to the point where we felt we had to consider rehoming him. During our session with Brad, we immediately saw results which had us dumbfounded. Like other reviews have mentioned, his technique is not "mean," but is a firm mindset that Ollie requires. All the while, Brad emphasizes when to correct your dog and when to praise him, while stressing the fact that these techniques are not made to scare your dog, but rather establish a leader mentality while simultaneously letting the dog know that you provide love and safety. Of course, like any training, one can only be successful when carrying over these learned techniques at home, but Brad left us feeling confident and ready to continue the work. Even when we got home today, we already had seen a shift from Ollie. As for Brad himself - he is very approachable and really looks to understand both the dog and all the circumstances that come with them. You could really get a sense of how personal he is. We definitely recommend him. Thank you so much, Brad!

Working with Vladae will!…read more We've been working with Vladae for about four months with our now six-and-a-half-month-old Golden Retriever, Coach, and it has been one of the best investments we've made. What sets Vladae apart is that he doesn't just train dogs, he teaches owners how to build a lifelong relationship with them. Every lesson leaves us with practical tools, clear direction, and the confidence to continue the training every single day. Because of that, the progress doesn't stop when the session ends. Vladae has an incredible ability to understand dogs. Watching him read a dog's behavior, body language, and mindset is genuinely fascinating. He knows exactly how to communicate with each dog in a way they understand, and it's clear this comes from years of experience and a deep understanding of canine psychology. He's also one of the most invested professionals we've ever worked with. Throughout the week, he encourages us to send videos, provides thoughtful feedback almost immediately, and is always available to answer questions or jump on a call if we need guidance. You never feel like you're figuring things out on your own. He truly cares about both the dogs and the people raising them, and he always follows through. Every recommendation Vladae has made, whether it's training tools, techniques, or daily routines, has become an essential part of Coach's development. We trusted the process from day one, and the results truly speak for themselves. (See the videos! Coach is only 6.5 months old in them.) Our puppy is happy, confident, well-mannered, and genuinely loves learning. We receive compliments on his behavior everywhere we go, and we owe so much of that to the foundation Vladae helped us build. We also had the opportunity to work with Erica, who trains alongside Vladae, and she was absolutely wonderful. One session with Erica is included in the program, and it was incredibly helpful. It's clear she shares the same passion, knowledge, and dedication that make this training program so special. Vladae brings unmatched energy, professionalism, and passion to every session. He genuinely wants every dog and every owner to succeed, and that level of commitment is incredibly rare to find. If you're looking for a trainer who truly understands dogs and is committed to setting both you and your dog up for long-term success, I can't recommend Vladae highly enough. Coach has become an incredible puppy, and we're excited to continue into adult school because of the foundation he's helped us build. We're so grateful we found him!
