Working with OC Solar was excellent from the very beginning to the very end. I got about 5 or 6 quotes for a complete solar install. I was impressed with OC Solar from the very start with their price and their willingness to help me. Their quote was one of the lowest I received AND their product seemed to be one of the best. I felt like I was getting the most bang for my buck with this company and I liked their customer service, this is why I chose them. After I received my initial quote, I wanted my panels placed on my roof in a different way and also higher powered panels. My consultant, Joe OBryan, worked with me and made changes for me without any issues. After I signed the contract deal, I was impressed with the amount of updates that I received from the company on how my process was moving along. I never felt forgotten and was always kept informed. Once we received our permits from the city, my installers were out here within days to set my system up. My system went up seamlessly and I noticed there was a lot of attention to detail with everyone on the job site. The install was clean and professional without any hiccups. They even color matched the piping to match my house to make it look very clean. I had 22 Panasonic 410 watt panels installed without a back up battery and my install was complete in one day. After my install, OC Solar made sure someone was out here at 8am to meet with my inspector. The inspector didn't show up until 4pm, but the OC Solar guy waited here the entire day to make sure he was here for the inspection. The inspection passed with flying colors and now I'm only waiting for SCE to give me permission to operate. SCE is taking a little while but i'm still getting weekly updates from OC solar, which is nice. Overall I have no complaints about this company. Also, I live in Whittier. Just because the company is called OC solar, doesn't mean they won't come to LA County, I was impressed by that. Total time from signing of contract to install was just under 12 weeks. read more

After receiving an increasing energy bill every month we decided it was time to research solar. I called 5-7 companies for quotes and to educate myself on how solar will benefit us. We eventually decided to go with Orange County Solar. From my first call, the customer service and attentiveness was above and beyond. The owner Vincent answered the phone and patiently answered all my questions. I set up an appointment for an in home consultation. Jeremy arrived on time, was polite and professional. He explained how the process with their company works, all of our options with different brands of panels and the financing options. We felt he was genuine and he did not pressure us into a sale. After he left, I continued my research with other companies. We came back full circle to OC Solar. We purchased a 12.21 kw system, 37 Panasonic HIT panels and SolarEdge inverter. Here are the facts: - No other company could beat OC Solar's price. They were direct and to the point. Other companies started high then would drop their price when they see they are losing the sale. That made me realize I could not trust them and they were willing to take advantage of customers that don't know better. One company came close but then added THOUSANDS of dollars to the price and called it a financing fee which was in addition to the interest rate for the duration of the loan. So that was something else for us to look out for. - OC Solar delivered on everything they promised. The financing was smooth and easy, the installation was efficient and timely. From the date we notified Jeremy we chose them to the date we were up and running was only 3 weeks. No hidden expenses popped up. - The installation team, Jose and Carlos, were clean and respectful. They made it clear they wanted to make the customer happy. It took 3 1/2 days for them to complete the install. For a system of our size (37 panels) that is an excellent time frame. The layout and placement of the panels look great. - From Vincent (owner) to Jermey (sales rep), Ashton (project manager) and Jose and Carlos (installers) this major project was smooth and painless. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Ashton answered every call during the process and didn't make us feel like we were bothering him. This team did not skip a beat! From start to finish, everyone at OC Solar was great. We got bids from about 5 different contractors, and we chose OC Solar. We first worked with Benjamin in sales, who was super responsive to calls and texts - he worked up a very competitive bid and available to answer any questions we had. After signing the contract, Jesse in the permitting department was very knowledgeable about our specific County and the strict requirements that were required. He was always available to jump on the phone to talk through the process with us. Once the installation got underway, both Melissa and Elizabeth were super helpful as they both guided us through everything. Melissa took time to answer questions about the tax credits, while Elizabeth was on top of scheduling inspections and making sure everything was buttoned up (especially during the crush of the holidays). Julian and his crew were super efficient during installation. Appreciate that the guys took time to paint the conduits to match our house color. On inspection day, I really appreciated that Zach came out to meet the inspector. Obviously we as the customers aren't the experts in this field, so it was great that OC Solar sends a technician to be on-site for inspection. FIX UP AND RUNNING! Amazing work my Matt. We paid 27,000 for our solar system from a number one ranked company but they did not finish the job. We had panels and a system that never worked and the company field bankruptcies. We have been trying to get them to come out and fixe our system but they never did. Our family originally went with tesla Solar but after they backed out we were in a hurry to find a company before the NEM 3.0 transition deadline. Ryan, Austin, Courtney, Delaney, Brooke, and S were amazing, responsive, and most important not pushy throughout the process. I was able to get multiple quotes and OC Solar was the most customer friendly. The installation crew of Rafael, Braulio and Edgard did a tremendous job and were honest about the roof in terms of any damaged tiles. They fixed them and notified me throughout the installation process. The only thing I would add to my plan would've been the consumption CTs. I had a good experience with OC Solar. They were very professional from beginning to end and I wasn't ever given a hard sell on choosing a system. Excellent advice on the different options, and they did the pre work fast enough that I was able to qualify for NIMM2 pricing. Yes!! The installation was a breeze: took less than half a day and I was able to log in and make sure that the panels were working as advertised. No more $1,000 electricity bills in the summer. Big shout out to the engineering team of Sergio and Jessie, as well as to the construction contacts of Mel and Savannah. I would definitely recommend on price, service and communication. I cannot say enough about Orange County Solar. Vince, Ashton, and Jeremy are honest, reliable, and extremely professional. I must admit I was that "nightmare" customer. You know the one that has a little bit of knowledge but not as much as he thinks. I was in a major remodel after a garage fire and the rebuild took over two years. During that time I changed my mind a number of times in regards to the solar panels I wanted to use and how they were going to be placed. Vince and the guys were FANTASTIC always being patient and helpful. They spent way too much time educating me on different panels, how many, pros and cons of different brands etc.... I was also insistent that I needed to have back up batteries (which I didn't) and I was talked out of them because OC Solar knew I didn't need them (did I mention these guys are ethical too!) I changed my mind at the last minute on the panels I wanted and found out that it effected the symmetry of the array on the roof (I am very OCD too). Sales was pretty responsive like all the other reviewers. After you sign the contract though, it got a bit dicey like some of the other bad reviews here. The first tech that inspected the site was on his phone all day talking about his personal issues. The techs that installed the panels seemed experienced enough (which I give a thumbs up) but the electrician seemed really new and was sloppy with his work and left in a rush as the following electrician that came had to clean up after him. The gateway and some conduit were still misaligned though. Then the office staff doesn't respond which turned out the person at the company left as I waited for an inspection time and getting holes patched. In the end the panels are working but a very big headache to talk to people to get things done and inspection passed given new people and turnover. I was hoping to be able to find a good small company but seems like they have a good turnover rate with unexperienced staff in the mix that cut corners. I would go somewhere else if I had to do it again. read more

Our system is now fully installed. We are at the point of waiting for Edison to provide our "permission to operate". The entire process has been relatively painless. OC SOLAR has a lot of professional craftsmen on the team. We've seen sight inspectors, installers, electricians, stucco crews. All of them top notch, professional, respectful and honest people. The office has done a good job working with our schedule to get everything done. It's not easy choosing a reliable company to complete the installation but I believe we made the right choice. One guy in particular I think deserves some accolades is Nicholas, their lath and plaster guy. What a pro! He's worked for OC Solar for 4 years. Great attitude, good work, communicative and honest sums him up. He's bilingual and I suggested he'd make a great salesman too, his knowledge of the job and product were high level. I cannot believe the way this company conducts business. Joe, who we started the solar process with, and signed the time sensitive contract so we would fall under the NEM 2.0 on an ADU we are building guaranteed that as long as we pay our deposit that we can get on the NEM 2.0, so we did, infact we paid much more and had them run the wires and start the process before our shingles were installed. Today, 6 months later, I'm told that they never filed the application for us to be on NEM 2.0 and that Joe dropped the ball and no longer works there and they are not sure what has happened, sorry, that they hate to be the bearer of bad news. Jesse Raymond has beaten around the bush about if they are responsible for this crucial error, and now is trying to sell us on a battery which is needed for the NEM 3 (at a discounted rate of course... total BS!) I give this company zero stars, and would be happy to talk in depth to anyone who wants more information on why I speak so poorly of them. I will update my yelp response as the cards unfold on what the final outcome on how they rectified this mistake that will cost tens of thousands of dollars. From the design of the solar panels to the thorough and thoughtful analysis of my energy needs. Based on competitive pricing and superior product we made the decision to go with OCS - and very happy we did. We were kept informed throughout the permitting process and when finally ready to do the solar install, the crew showed up on time and ready to go. The solar panel installation was clean and while the equipment certainly takes up some space they mounted everything as unobtrusively as possible and painted what they could to match the existing stucco. The system and components were very high quality, installed and configured meticulously, including the panel upgrade/replacement. I'm a computer guy with some background in EE and electronics so I appreciated all the attention to details. The Tesla Powerwall+ with a second Powerwall2 is a very polished system. Most of our home now is on a seamless UPS backup capable of lasting a day completely off grid. I've been geeking on the app and its data for a month now. The project did take a bit of time, start to finish, big chunk of it was waiting for city approvals, permits and inspections, it included an entire panel upgrade (old home), plus we had a roof replacement as well (with its own separate permits). Overall I am extremely happy with the quality and performance of the system, which even during winter months reduced our grid consumption to a minimum. read more

OC Solar is extremely efficient in communicating with you - available to answer all questions by phone/text/email. Instead of relying on phone or virtual appts, the property is evaluated using satellite resources + history of electrical bills and quote is provided immediately. No unnecessary sales pitch, right to the point. Execution of work: I did not get a weekly update as explained in the beginning. However, my job was on a smaller scale and the contract began in Dec 2020 during COVID pandemic. Replies to my inquiries were prompt. Had issues with the existing type of roof tiles that required added roofing work. Again, handled well between Ashton (proj manager) & Jeremey. All the workers were professional and courteous. I decided to get solar last year and was in the middle of choosing an installer. After dealing with at least 10 different installers, I decided to go with OC Solar . Benjamin the salesman did not try to oversold me in any way and I felt like the specs and prices he gave me at the time was reasonable so my gut feeling told me it was the right thing to go with OC. Solar. After about three months, my project is now 99% completed with just waiting for PTO and I have to say the whole experience was as smooth as it can be despite the holidays and the rains. Special thanks to all the OC Solar folks I worked with (Benjamin, Elisabeth, Juan, Felipe, Sergio, Brook). You guys were very easy to work with and I have no complaints. One feedback I want to give is add a tool on your website so that customer can login and check the status on their project. It should include important information like the current step in the project and the contacts for that step. Every single person that has come to our home to work on their particular part of the install have been super nice guys, they have all worked hard, left no messes, and explained their part of the job. George and Freddy are my hero's, they installed my new electrical panel and more, they did a fabulous job! OC Solar has sent me texts every time their crew was coming out which helped a lot. Since we are in and out of the house it's helpful to know the plan. Beware!! Signed contract in April 2021 to install LG backup. installation completed September 2021. Backup system did not work during blackout on Oct 11,2021. Asked for OCSolar for access to SolarEdge to monitor usage, but was not provided. An inverter was replaced in February 18, 2022; asked for SolarEdge app access again. Another black-outs on May 14, 2022, and August 1, 2022, back-up did not work again. At the same time, emails back and forth between Jeremy, Service Department and Customer Support telling them system is not working correctly. Only to be told everything is ok, until multiple emails and documents provided to them that they realized there was issue with the installation (OCsolar tech also accidently turned off solar panels for 3 months). Backup failed again on January 17, 2023; the owner, Vinnie, was emailed directly. As of March 2023, i have not heard from Vinnie why the backup failed (i just want a reliable system) and status of SGIP Rebate application that has been process since September 2021. Issues are being resolved by Vinnie. Also informed that SGIP rebate will take sometime. Appreciate the follow-up read more

I got quotes from at least 5 solar companies and found that OC Solar had the best price for its products. Walter was an excellent salesman. He was 1 of the reasons I went with this company. He handheld me thru my indecisive phase, he said yes to most of my requests, and he promised me a bunch of stuff, all of which but 1 were delivered. That 1 thing that didn't happen was we didn't make the deadline before the end of the year 2023, but he compensated me by giving me a free panel instead. Sweet deal! The office kept me updated constantly on the progress, and Sharon was excellent in soothing my frustrations along the way. Jose and the installation team were clean & responsible. They didn't leave stuff behind for me to clean up, nor break little things in my yard which other careless workers sometimes do. Brooke was also very accommodating with my payments. She never rushed me, just letting me pay when I was ready. Savannah was excellent and kind. There was 1 small snag that I want to mention. During the inspection, there was a breaker in my electrical panel that needed to be replaced beforehand but it was not done. Instead of being transparent and just saying that it was neglected to be done, the main scheduler and the guy they sent to the failed inspection just back pedaled and told me like 4 different versions of what happened, thus conflicting themselves in the process smh. This does not affect their rating, bc overall this company is excellent in every way with their product, prices, and customer service! read more

I'm so happy I chose Orange County solar. After doing my research, I knew that Panasonic was the way to go, and I wanted to find an elite Panasonic installer for the enhanced warranties. Orange County solar is the largest Panasonic installer in Orange County, and the Elite installer in the Orange County territory, so choosing them was a no brainer. They offered both inverter types, solaredge and enphase micro-inverters. After becoming educated, we went with solaredge so we could add a energy storage system with batteries in the future. The communication was great, getting updates weekly from them and never feeling out of the loop. My install was done in 1 day! The inspector passed us first time, and my bill has been $0 ever since. We did a lot of work ahead of time (started in October, 2022) researching 8 different Solar installation firms. We compared the REC, Canadian Solar, Panasonic and Solaria Panels. They all seam to have the warranty however, we ended up with choosing the Panasonic EVPV410HK that would give us the best quality, warranty and name recognition. We have a 1940's home with a 10 year old composite shingle roof with a 20 year old 200amp electrical panel. The choose OC Solar based on the reviews of the installation team. The OC Solar team started with Joe O'Bryan. There was a difference in the number of Panels that we need and Joe sent an update proposal the same day. The proposal was complete and easy to read. The overall cost was all within a few hundred to $1,000 of each bid at about $1,160 to $1,243 per panel complete. The actual installation was super easy. The installers were on time, professional and got right to work and had 22 panels installed on two sections of roof and all the electrical panels completed in less than 8 hours. They were Awesome!!! Next came the OC Solar inspector, Filipe and he also was on time professional and new exactly what to do. The City inspector signed everything off in less than 30 minutes. All I am waiting on now is SCE to finished their part in the next 30 days. I've just finished completion of my solar installation project and am now writing a review so that I can provide insight on each step of the process. For those who don't want to read on - I was very happy with the service and would definitely recommend this company for solar installation. Now let me provide a little more detail for each step. Getting quotes: I used another website to express my interest in getting solar and was BOMBARDED with cold calls. What I found most frustrating was none of the "professionals" from other companies could even give me a ball park estimate without an hour+ in person meeting aka "we want to get to your house, give you the hard sell and pressure you in to signing on the spot" - no thank you. OC Solar reached out with a well thought through estimate based on the information I had provided in the other website, before discussions went any further I had a good idea how much the project was going to cost and any variables that could increase / decrease the price. I appreciated the transparency and this was a major factor I chose to go with them. I worked with Joe and he was a solid 5 stars. Inspection: once we had agreed on the number of panels I would need an employee came out to inspect the property check the roof, main electrical box and install grounding. They were on time, very polite, seemed quick and efficient and clean up was great. 5 stars Installation: I needed and electrical box upgrade and panel installation, 2 different crews and both we wonderful. On time, polite, efficient and again clean up was excellent. 5 stars Inspection: OC solar inspect prior to the electrical company Inspecting, I didn't need to be home for it so I didn't meet the person, but again they completed the Inspection process and submitted relevant paperwork on time as promised. Project management: this is the only area where I saw room for improvement. Every was very kind and courteous, and I got answers to all my questions. The only slight (and I emphasize slight) issue was communication wasn't as proactive as it could have been. I had to follow up on a few occasions to get updates or check schedules. 4 stars.
