My kids and I had the most amazing meal at Ocean 7 this past weekend! We started with an order of hush puppies which were fantastic. Then, to our surprise the waitress brought out what she said were "complimentary hot buns" they were warm, glazed buns, almost like a donut, SO GOOD! For dinner we had a seafood boil with shrimp and mussels Ocean 7 style which was a mix of all of their flavors. Everything was cooked well and tasted great! My oldest daughter had the fried shrimp basket which she loved. My younger daughter is a vegetarian, there isn't a lot on the menu for her but she knew that going in. She was quite satisfied with her hush puppies, mozzarella sticks and steamed broccoli. I tried one of her mozzarella sticks and they were actually quite good. Last night we tried Ocean 7 and I'm not gonna lie, I was worried for a bit because a lot of people that recommended The Yummy Crab as a go to place were saying this place was good and in my opinion the yummy crab is the absolute worst out here! So first things first, as soon as you walk in you're hit with the aroma of the seasonings. That was our first good impression. It's nice, clean and spacious. All the staff was welcoming and greeted us on our way to the table even the gentlemen that cleans the tables and I love friendly attitudes so another good impression BUT if you're sitting at a booth be careful because me and my husband both hit our knees on the table stand and that hurt We ordered two beers to start, I got a Sapporo my husband got a Modelo and asked for them to be rimmed with Tajin. Nice cold beer what you would want on a summer day for sure. For food we ordered one pound of shrimp with the ocean 7 blend and hot spice level, two white rices, a catfish basket and a side of the garlic butter medium sauce to see which one we like more. Because it was our first time; we didn't want to order the works with the fear we may not like it and didn't want to waste food or money. After you order they bring out the utensils, bibs, a trash bucket and hand wipes (all were individually wrapped with the ocean seven logo). Now the food. The shrimp were pretty good sized shrimp and even though the ocean 7 blend was good the garlic butter was my favorite! But personally I'm light with the cajun seasoning because to me it can be a little bitter. The catfish was nice and tasteful, the fries were thick and tasted good too my husband and I couldn't decide between sweet potato and regular so they gave us half and half. Luckily they gave us complementary corn, potatoes and sausage so we still got a chance to try more and all were so tasty and packed with flavor cooked perfectly. The food was definitely satisfying. My next remarks are not taking away from the experience just some recommendations. The heat could definitely be hotter but I'm Mexican and we eat hot stuff like it's candy I do wish the sauce was a little thicker but the flavor was still there so I won't complain too much. I like to put the sauce over the rice with some lime or lemon and salt and pepper and I'm used to going into places where they put the salt, pepper and limes on the table when you get there they didn't do that here so be sure to ask. The catfish was good I only wish it was fried a little longer for a more crispy bite but it was tender and fell apart when you pick it up but it was still good. This was a very good experience all around but the unexpected highlight was the complementary dessert/pastry. I wouldn't even know what to call them, but they were so good! These fluffy balls that look like donut holes covered in what taste like a powdered sugar honey glaze and I hate honey! They were so soft and fluffy I could go back for a few orders of those alone!! It's all just okay. I mean it is definitely a crab boil, but no one in our party was excited about what we got. Starting with the warm sweet buns which I thought would be amazing, but they were just there. I got the bbq chicken wings and they were not great at all. They were just wings broiled or fried I think, then they topped it with that terrible Kraft bbq sauce that my mom bought when we were kids because it was cheap and she didn't know better. The crab boil was nibbled on by people who love devouring seafood. We took it home and the leftovers lasted a few days because no one was really excited about them. At least it's a nice looking restaurant. Not a lot of seats, but we went there on a Sunday afternoon and there were plenty of seats open. Nice tall ceilings to make if feel not so crowded. read more

We had a great first visit. Upon initial entry the smell of new wood hit and I couldn't quite smell the food the whole time we were there. At least until ours came to the table. This will fade in time but I found it interesting. For context, I've been to all the Hot n' Juicy's in Vegas, Captain Crab, Yummy Crab, Boiling Crab and many others in WA. Ocean 7 was among the best in regard to sea food quality and flavor for us. All of the seafood was a win! Not too oily or lacking flavor. Seafood wasn't cold or chewy and everything was just right for everyone. Our table had shrimp, snow crab, clams, and mussels i believe. I had the Ocean 7 seasoning, extra spicy, it was a nice 7/10 on the heat scale for me (I love spicy food). We also had their hush puppies, cheese sticks, and fried calamari. Hush puppies and fried calamari were great, the cheese sticks could've been cooked a little longer. Biggest complaint I have (and provided feedback on) are the small portions of steamed rice for the price. For $4 I would expect more for each serving. The staff were really busy and could probably use additional help with the amount of guests they have, but they all were pleasant to talk to and had a smile on their face. When we initially were sat there was confusion on who our waitress/waiter was, as we weren't seen until I asked 20 minutes after being seated. But I chalk this up to new establishment issues. Best thing about this place? They're new, know they're new, and asked for feedback! No excuses made, clarified the feedback and stated they will be holding meetings about feedback received. This to me, is a sign of great things to come for Ocean 7. I will be back as this place is absolutely delicious and I'm so happy it's in the West Olympia area! read more

The ambiance is very modern and CLEAN! Both were seasoned very well. I tried the chicken without the bbq sauce to really get a taste of the flavor and was pleasantly surprised. With my shrimp boil I got mild spice with the Ocean 7s Special sauce and my only complaint is that there wasn't enough sauce. I got my order to go so I can't really rate the service, only thing was that I waited at front for 10 min before getting helped and still had to wait an additional 3-4 minutes for my food to be done. So let's start with being sat as the sun was setting and being put into a booth facing west to windows that have no, I repeat NO, blinds. So for about 20 minutes it was uncomfortable to face forward. Let's get to the service. Inept is an understatement. First off a less than enthusiastic greeting and an attitude that reeked on lack of attention. So my parents and I decided to split one of their seafood boils specials that was supposed to feed 2 to 3 people. They had an option to pay $1 more and the shrimp would be headless, otherwise they are served head on. We asked for headless shrimp so that it would be easier to consume the shrimp and make one last task to complete to clean up. Well our boil showed up and the heads were on the shrimp. His excuse was that he didn't hear us correctly all while looking around instead of paying attention to our table. Rather than have them waste the food, we opted to just deal with it. Now the second thing I'm about to bring up has to do with our servers ability. As we were waiting for our food, our server dropped off our tray of utensils, shell crackers, a shucker, scissors, bibs, gloves, wet wipes. Excellent thought, if you deliver clean equipment. The scissors had, for lack of a better word, gunk on them. When I point that out to our server and ask for a new tray, his excuse was that what I saw was utensil polish. Not I'm sorry, not let me get new items he thought that the explanation of utensil polish would be satisfying. So giving us utensils with chemicals on it is ok for food service? And when he finally said let me get you new utensils, we sat there as our piping hot food cooled and he took his time getting us replacements. The food was good. We ordered hush puppies and I had to get 2 orders so good!!! The boil was tasty, the corn was great, the potatos were great, the seafood was excellent except for the heads. Look things happen and I believe to give places a second chance because you can have a bad night, but I might have to skip this place a second time. The manager checked in on us and I was honest with him about our experience and he did discount our check, which I will have to give them a thumbs up for. read more

Been coming since they opened. Enjoyed their boil, but it's more food than I can eat. My favorites have been the crab cake app and the gumbo. They've just added a grilled menu which makes me very happy. Grilled scallops were tasty and I head the grilled catfish today which was excellent. I wouldn't say it was bad, just not very good. The prices for what little you get are obnoxious. The fries didn't taste fried, more like baked frozen fries. The shrimp basket I had the shrimp were good quality but the light breading had again, no flavor to it. The $30 crab po boy had very little crab and the 'fries' were barely cooked. You know what, it was bad. We also had a Cajun pasta that had no flavor and oddly, tasted like it had celery in it. One and done. read more

Went to Ocean 7 last night and wasn't disappointed! From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we were graciously greeted and seated with minutes. There were 3 in our party and our waiter Adam came to bring us water and ask for our drink order. We ordered our delicious food, which was serviced to us piping hot not long after being ordered. They even have great Sweet Tea!!!! My husband and I moved here from Texas and we can highly recommend Ocean 7 as an authentic southern cooked meal! So happy you're here in the PNW! Everyone was happy, especially my daughter - who was turning 15 and selected this place for her birthday dinner. Horrible service; staff needs more training; they ignored our table and not tend to us to check on food and offer refills of our drinks; our kids waited and raised their hands for refills; we had to flag down a Mexican guy who works there putting the covers on the table to ask for refills who then got the attention of one of the waitresses; our waitress was Halie with who had on a ginger hair colored wig but after serving our food, she disappeared; another waitress with black hair kept passing by and as I tried to get her attention, she just kept going twice past our table, grabbed a napkin from the table behind me and kept walking towards the front; we had to (AGAIN) get the attention of the Mexican guy to tell our waitress we need to go bags and the check; he went and got the black haired waitress who has an attitude problem and has no place in a restaurant industry because her customer service is terrible! She came over to our table,I asked for to go bags and the check; she brought them; then my husband tried to express that his chicken wings and our son's chicken tenders were so dry it was hard to eat (not edible); he also expressed that the service hasn't been good as we were not tended to and tried to get their attention but nobody paid attention to get us more refills of water; he said nothing more than provide CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, but the black haired waitress started getting defensive and argued with my husband; he said calmly not to argue with him as all he is trying to say is that the service has been poor but she kept arguing. I finally had enough of her rudeness to my husband so I screamed at her to shut up and stop arguing and that they need to do better. She got a person in charge to come talk to us and he too did not listen nor cared about our concerns. They gave a 30% off our bill but that is beside the point. I don't care if it costs $500 or $600 to eat here if they did a good job serving their customers, but unfortunately they lack in providing good customer care/service. While my husband and I were at the front desk paying, 2 police officers showed up. A person who ate here called the police on us. To you who called the police, if you don't know anything about us or about the bad service we got and how terrible we were treated here, you should have minded your own business. I know who you are, you are a privileged white a**hole! You know nothing about our situation and you will NEVER understand unless you have the same skin color as me. That is the problem with you privileged a**holes born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you try to silence people and call the police on them instead of being helpful and be part of the solution. I will NOT be silenced or intimidated by you calling the police. We did nothing wrong; WE (our party of 15) WERE WRONGED and treated poorly. I spoke to the police officers the same way I did in the restaurant expressing our frustration with the horrible service and the waitress being rude & disrespectful. Nothing happened and you wasted the officers' time when they could be tending to a more important issue than this. To the owner of this restaurant HENRY XU, you should be ashamed of your staff's behavior and horrible service; you need to train your staff better; you all need to do better! The poor customer service we experienced here at Ocean 7 is UNACCEPTABLE!!! Read the other 1 star reviews from people who have had similar experience like our family; they also experienced poor customer service; were not tended to and were being ignored. We had a party of 15 people and we were excited about trying this new place because we usually go to King Crab in Tacoma (30 min drive) but I regret going here today.
