Catfish a side of white rice, sweet potato fries, and regular fries
    Devin T.

Last night we tried Ocean 7 and I'm not gonna lie, I was worried for a bit because a lot of people that recommended The Yummy Crab as a go to place were saying this place was good and in my opinion the yummy crab is the absolute worst out here! So first things first, as soon as you walk in you're hit with the aroma of the seasonings. That was our first good impression. It's nice, clean and spacious. All the staff was welcoming and greeted us on our way to the table even the gentlemen that cleans the tables and I love friendly attitudes so another good impression BUT if you're sitting at a booth be careful because me and my husband both hit our knees on the table stand and that hurt We ordered two beers to start, I got a Sapporo my husband got a Modelo and asked for them to be rimmed with Tajin. Nice cold beer what you would want on a summer day for sure. For food we ordered one pound of shrimp with the ocean 7 blend and hot spice level, two white rices, a catfish basket and a side of the garlic butter medium sauce to see which one we like more. Because it was our first time; we didn't want to order the works with the fear we may not like it and didn't want to waste food or money. After you order they bring out the utensils, bibs, a trash bucket and hand wipes (all were individually wrapped with the ocean seven logo). Now the food. The shrimp were pretty good sized shrimp and even though the ocean 7 blend was good the garlic butter was my favorite! But personally I'm light with the cajun seasoning because to me it can be a little bitter. The catfish was nice and tasteful, the fries were thick and tasted good too my husband and I couldn't decide between sweet potato and regular so they gave us half and half. Luckily they gave us complementary corn, potatoes and sausage so we still got a chance to try more and all were so tasty and packed with flavor cooked perfectly. The food was definitely satisfying. My next remarks are not taking away from the experience just some recommendations. The heat could definitely be hotter but I'm Mexican and we eat hot stuff like it's candy I do wish the sauce was a little thicker but the flavor was still there so I won't complain too much. I like to put the sauce over the rice with some lime or lemon and salt and pepper and I'm used to going into places where they put the salt, pepper and limes on the table when you get there they didn't do that here so be sure to ask. The catfish was good I only wish it was fried a little longer for a more crispy bite but it was tender and fell apart when you pick it up but it was still good. This was a very good experience all around but the unexpected highlight was the complementary dessert/pastry. I wouldn't even know what to call them, but they were so good! These fluffy balls that look like donut holes covered in what taste like a powdered sugar honey glaze and I hate honey! They were so soft and fluffy I could go back for a few orders of those alone!! We will definitely be back for the works next time and we highly recommend people go and try for themselves

Crab boil! (snow crab & shrimp)

The food was INCREDIBLE, the flavor was perfect. The medium spice level was actually spicy, I got 3 corns which is nice that they fill your plate. Service was friendly, knowledgeable, and very fast. The ambiance is very modern and CLEAN! The picture doesn't do it justice but I made my own boil with .5 lb snow crab, & .5 lb shrimp (head off), corn, potatoes, sausages, with Garlic Butter -medium heat. Pro tip: they are on the spicy side. Also, you pay extra to combine flavors like garlic butter and Cajun- and they put the extra butter on the side...

This was a stop we made on our way through Olympic! It was delicious!! I got the shrimp lo boy (no pictured) but it was delicious! The seafood boils were amazing and the rice dish was awesome! Just a great find! The service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend!

It's all just okay. I mean it is definitely a crab boil, but no one in our party was excited about what we got. Starting with the warm sweet buns which I thought would be amazing, but they were just there. I got the bbq chicken wings and they were not great at all. They were just wings broiled or fried I think, then they topped it with that terrible Kraft bbq sauce that my mom bought when we were kids because it was cheap and she didn't know better. The crab boil was nibbled on by people who love devouring seafood. We took it home and the leftovers lasted a few days because no one was really excited about them. At least it's a nice looking restaurant. Not a lot of seats, but we went there on a Sunday afternoon and there were plenty of seats open. Nice tall ceilings to make if feel not so crowded.

We had a great first visit. Upon initial entry the smell of new wood hit and I couldn't quite smell the food the whole time we were there. At least until ours came to the table. This will fade in time but I found it interesting. For context, I've been to all the Hot n' Juicy's in Vegas, Captain Crab, Yummy Crab, Boiling Crab and many others in WA. Ocean 7 was among the best in regard to sea food quality and flavor for us. All of the seafood was a win! Not too oily or lacking flavor. Seafood wasn't cold or chewy and everything was just right for everyone. Our table had shrimp, snow crab, clams, and mussels i believe. I had the Ocean 7 seasoning, extra spicy, it was a nice 7/10 on the heat scale for me (I love spicy food). We also had their hush puppies, cheese sticks, and fried calamari. Hush puppies and fried calamari were great, the cheese sticks could've been cooked a little longer. Biggest complaint I have (and provided feedback on) are the small portions of steamed rice for the price. For $4 I would expect more for each serving. The staff were really busy and could probably use additional help with the amount of guests they have, but they all were pleasant to talk to and had a smile on their face. When we initially were sat there was confusion on who our waitress/waiter was, as we weren't seen until I asked 20 minutes after being seated. But I chalk this up to new establishment issues. Best thing about this place? They're new, know they're new, and asked for feedback! No excuses made, clarified the feedback and stated they will be holding meetings about feedback received. This to me, is a sign of great things to come for Ocean 7. I will be back as this place is absolutely delicious and I'm so happy it's in the West Olympia area!

So happy to finally have another seafood restaurant near Lacey/ Olympia area! Ordered the bbq chicken wings and shrimp head on combo and I would give it an overall rating of 7.5/10. Both were seasoned very well. I tried the chicken without the bbq sauce to really get a taste of the flavor and was pleasantly surprised. With my shrimp boil I got mild spice with the Ocean 7s Special sauce and my only complaint is that there wasn't enough sauce. I got my order to go so I can't really rate the service, only thing was that I waited at front for 10 min before getting helped and still had to wait an additional 3-4 minutes for my food to be done. Aside, from that I will be returning!

    Our take home's!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed Ocean's 7 from the beyond tasty and well prepared seafood (lobster, shrimp, crab and more) boil to the excellent service by Angel!!! Reasonable prices as we ordered the #2 with a few extras and MORE than enough food! Manager checked on us and we had nothing but praise!!! We will be returning soon with friends! We also appreciate the recommend from Natascia and Mike!!!

    Clam chowder and calamari.

Food is excellent. Prompt and tasty. Friendly service with a smile. Spacious open seating with cool warm lighting. Nice ocean decor that matches the restaurant theme name . Tried the fried oyster po-boy. Looking foward to coming back and trying other items on the menu.

Another shot of the utensils and the polish that was on them.

So let's start with being sat as the sun was setting and being put into a booth facing west to windows that have no, I repeat NO, blinds. So for about 20 minutes it was uncomfortable to face forward. Let's get to the service. Inept is an understatement. First off a less than enthusiastic greeting and an attitude that reeked on lack of attention. So my parents and I decided to split one of their seafood boils specials that was supposed to feed 2 to 3 people. They had an option to pay $1 more and the shrimp would be headless, otherwise they are served head on. We asked for headless shrimp so that it would be easier to consume the shrimp and make one last task to complete to clean up. Well our boil showed up and the heads were on the shrimp. His excuse was that he didn't hear us correctly all while looking around instead of paying attention to our table. Rather than have them waste the food, we opted to just deal with it. Now the second thing I'm about to bring up has to do with our servers ability. As we were waiting for our food, our server dropped off our tray of utensils, shell crackers, a shucker, scissors, bibs, gloves, wet wipes. Excellent thought, if you deliver clean equipment. The scissors had, for lack of a better word, gunk on them. When I point that out to our server and ask for a new tray, his excuse was that what I saw was utensil polish. Not I'm sorry, not let me get new items he thought that the explanation of utensil polish would be satisfying. So giving us utensils with chemicals on it is ok for food service? And when he finally said let me get you new utensils, we sat there as our piping hot food cooled and he took his time getting us replacements. The food was good. We ordered hush puppies and I had to get 2 orders so good!!! The boil was tasty, the corn was great, the potatos were great, the seafood was excellent except for the heads. Look things happen and I believe to give places a second chance because you can have a bad night, but I might have to skip this place a second time. The manager checked in on us and I was honest with him about our experience and he did discount our check, which I will have to give them a thumbs up for.

This was such a disappointing and gross experience. The poop shoot was still in our shrimp and the response from management was negligent. We got a refund, but management told us this was normal and had happened multiple times before. They aren't changing suppliers knowing that this has been an issue.

Gumbo, jambalaya is similar. This a seasoned base With chic...bit peel your crawfish into the gumbo, voila.. more soupy than jambalaya.

Awesome!! Visited today. Nice spice on all I had from the bloody mary to the crawfish gumbo... Same on the sweet rolls, simular to biegnets, but they have them with powder sugar... So if your missing the flavor of a warm biegnet and chickory coffee...you're really good to go for breakfast!!!

Seafood boils, fried calamari, and chicken gumbo.

Our server, Becky, was super helpful about the menu. We loved the idea of creating our own seafood boil with choice of shrimp, clams, sausage and sauce. Also choosing the level of spice. The bib and disposable gloves were a nice touch.

The shrimp was good, through the seasoning was inconsistent despite my best efforts. I ordered the spiciest option, and the shrimp was the only part I got the spice from. Sometimes I'm there was no heat, other times it felt like it was trying to kill me. My biggest gripe with the food was the lack of potatoes. Why get stingy with potatoes? There were only 2 in the boil I got. It was a generous amount of food overall, but I feel like potatoes are the weirdest part to skimp out on. The restaurant looked nice and had good lighting. My biggest complaint overall was the choice of music. Objectively, it was not appropriate for a family joint. It was Kanye West, Childish Gambino, Tyler the Creator, and other similar artists. The songs were explicit, and there were many families with children in the restaurant. I can't rate it too low because all the food I tried was great, and I hope to come again in the future.

The decor is very similar to what it was with a splash of sea decor. They had some summer specials so we opted for one. We asked for the Cajun seasoning and I wanted extra spicy but the waiter thought spicy was enough. Get. The. Extra. Spicy. I like to feel the spice inflammation and where the food is in my gi system. I wanted to sweat. I had maybe a slightly sweaty upper lip but that was it. Wear all black. The sauce gets EVERYWHERE. All in all, it was good but everything was slightly over cooked for my liking. It comes in the large steamy bag I'm used to at restaurants but it's definitely not like my house where the pot gets poured out on the table. The portions are literally just enough to be completely satisfying and the service was superb!

I, along with one of our friends ordered the halibut and French fries basket. Omg! It was so good! Love we had the option of beer battered or panko crumbs. We went with beer battered. The French fries are double fried I think and holy lord so freaken good! Cole slaw was also tasty. The food was just alright, but I was disappointed with what I got and was expecting more quality for the price. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Who and I was given a plate with a small handful of still-crunchy sliced bell peppers and zucchini that seemed that they had been in contact with heat for all of 30 seconds next to a pile of potatoes that were cold from sitting. The chicken breast was just meh, not very thick, not very moist, not very seasoned, not very much of it. Small amount of sliced prosciutto on top. I just think for $30 this was a ripoff by at least 1/3 of the price; I would expect an actual chicken cordon bleu at that price instead of this quick-service deconstruction. The blackberry mojito I ordered for I think $15 tasted pretty good but was missing the presence and flavor of any alcohol so there was no complexity, just ended up being a $15 refreshing fruit drink. My husband ordered an appetizer (Sirloin Diablo) for $27 and got a small bowl of steak tips submerged in a barely spicy (Diablo?) cajun cream sauce like a soup surrounded by some painfully plain, thin, unseasoned, boring grilled bread. It's not bad or very good by any means and just wasn't his thing, but charging almost $30 for that? At their prices and the way they are presented I was expecting a really satisfying dinner but walked away feeling like I would've been just as happy eating some standard fare at a local diner for half the cost.

I gave a 5 star rating a year ago although visited several times since then. I can't figure out what happened. Did the chef (s) move on, or pass away and a crew from a local fast food restaurant was hired as a replacement? I ordered the meal with filet, crab leg, lobster (portion?) with baked potato and Death by Peaches for dessert. I have had crab legs here before. This had been boiled until there was no flavor, and very ittle meat. And that was the selling point for me. The lomaster was fine but the sauce wasn't hollandaise as the bartender said. A watery, mustardy sauce. Not terrible but not very good either. Ordered filet medium, came well done. I took it home hoping to add to chili but too tough to eat. Took the baked potato home to save room for dessert and it was good. The real slap in the face was the dessert. I have ordered Death by peaches over and over and was never disappointed. What arrived was a heavy, dry, dense cake without much flavor, some peaches and a small scoop of ice cream. It needed a lot of ice cream or peaches to get through it. I left most of it. I don't mind splurging and I have without complaint but this was such a a disappointment. Most of the patrons were older and I had to wonder if management feels their expectations are lower? I will close by stating that wait staff and bartenders are top notch. Including Isiah from yesterday. Above and beyond even with a busy crowd. Never a complaint about the service. You are no longer my go to restaurant that I can depend on. Oh, had two drinks that were fine but the wine list is meh.
