I waited 45 minutes for a pork chop served with barely any bacon jam, one asparagus, and mashed potatoes that tasted like they came from a box. We went for the Easter buffet and it was excellent. The ocean front view was so nice, and the food was very good, especially the desserts. Our server was overworked (they clearly needed more staff) but still was attentive. Note they do not charge for credit card payments and have a locals discount. Here's a rewritten version that starts off with disappointment but ends on a positive note: I walked into this restaurant expecting a great experience--it's right on the beach, connected to the hotel, with gorgeous views, cloth napkins, and a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, the reality didn't match the setting. Service was spotty, my food took forever, and when it finally arrived it felt like something reheated from a bag. The chicken on my salad was dry and flavorless, and the clam chowder was so thick and bland I could barely taste anything but a hint of clam juice. Safe to say, I left pretty disappointed. Fast-forward to my last night: I got in late and needed something quick, so I reluctantly ordered delivery to my room. When I saw it was from Ocean View, I cringed, remembering that first night. But here's the twist--I ordered their (very pricey) pizza, and to my surprise, it was fantastic. Perfect crust, plenty of cheese, and all the right flavors. Honestly, one of the best pizzas I've had. For hotel food, this was pretty tasty. We were here for one of The Doctor's IEEE meetings. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the hotel with a lovely view of the ocean. There is inside dining as well as the ability to dine on their deck. We actually ate here for most of the time simply because we didn't want to rent a car and go anyplace. My favorites were the clam chowder and the BLT, both of those hit the spot. I am not even a fan of clam chowder and thought I was getting a potato soup for whatever reason. I was so surprised that I actually enjoyed it and had it several times. The PBLT was loaded with thick cut pork belly and was to die for!! The fries that came with were hot and lightly salted. Fish tacos were ok but the steak ones were totally on point. They were loaded with a lot of meat that was seasoned just right. The tacos were also of a nice size, Three would definitely fill you up. For dinner the penne pasta with chicken and the roast beer tenderloin tips were good. The Doctor got the shrimp and grits one night and enjoyed it, but I couldn't see myself doing it because of the BBQ sauce used in the dish. That didn't sit right with me. For breakfast, the spouses had a private dining area where we were able to take part in the buffet. There was a decent selection of items, with freshly made omelettes. There was the standard fair of pastries, waffles, french toast, potatoes, grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. Food was hot and fresh. Staff was great and service was good. Definitely enjoyed eating at this joint, which was good since it would have been a hassle to go anyplace else. I would say that the food exceeded my expectations for a hotel restaurant. read more

I went there for dinner twice in two nights and had clam chowder, salmon, crispy brussel sprouts and ahi tuna poke. Everything was delicious. I especially loved the salmon, it was crispy outside and well cooked inside. It came with a bed of rice with juicy sour tomatoes, okra and beans. Delighted to find sour tomatoes since I do not come across them very often. Crispy brussel sprouts were a delight. They had the right amount of sweetness and delicious pork belly bits. The quantity would easily serve 4-5 people as an appetizer. Ahi tuna poke was fresh and absolutely wonderful! Tuna was served on a bed of rice and fresh seaweed. Enjoyed it thoroughly! I also tried their breakfast buffet on day. They had decent variety of hot breakfast items available along with fresh fruit and yogurt. Everything was well made. I especially loved their grits. I had lunch and dinner here and everything we had was amazing. For lunch, I had the ahi tuna poke without rice, spicy Mayo or wontons. It was really good. Alittle too much sauce for me but still good. My daughter had the grilled chicken Caesar with fries and it was delicious. I also had a Bloody Mary and the hush puppies were really good. For dinner, I had the peel and eat shrimp and they were perfect. Tasted very fresh and full of old bay! I also had a house salad and it was also really good. My daughter had the pizza and the crust was great. My friend had the flatbread with artichokes and she loved it. The Nashville hot chicken was really good, too. Love this place. My boyfriend and I came here for brunch. This place is inside the dollar tree hotel. The view is nice and have outdoor seating. Our last day in Myrtle Beach was rainy and cold and so we wanted to stay close to the airport and to our hotel. Since we didn't want to venture out too far we decided to try out the hotel restaurant. The location of the restaurant is right in the lobby next to the lobby bar. There are large floor to ceiling windows that give you a great view of the ocean. We enjoyed sitting in our booth and watching the waves roll in. Of course, we had sweet tea in hand as one should always do while in the South. Our waiter was very nice and seemed to be the only guy working the place and he kept up with the crowd very well. Hilariously, he had to explain to a couple next to us what a quesadilla was and did it with tact and professionalism. He always made sure out tea never ran more than half empty. For food, we decided to split a few appetizers - the hush puppies and the shrimp nachos (this would be seafood nachos #3 of our trip).The hush puppies were delicious and came in a huge serving with a side of honey butter. We did not finish them all although I wanted too because they were so tasty. The nachos had a unique, sweet tasting sauce and were piled high with large fried shrimp and nacho toppings. I love how the South sneaks seafood onto/into everything! Hotel restaurants can be hit or miss especially with a limited menu but this place had a great drink and appetizer menu that hit the spot for us and left us satisfied and full for our outgoing flight. read more

The service was excellent, yet the dinner menu was limited, I thought 6 wings at $22 is ridiculous, the mix drinks are very expensive, no happy hour no specials i'd call an uber and eat at some other place, figure $35 with tip for appetizer and a mix drink. I had read the crab and shrimp nachos were amazing. There was lots of shrimp, crab, pico d'gallo, and cheese so I could tell it cOuld be good. Unfortunately, it was col and not good. The fried shrimp were cold, the cheese sauce was cold making the whole dish in nappetizing. Did it sit in the kitchen all morning? How do you serve cold fried shrimp? I was afraid to send it back. What were they going to do? Microwave it? Spit in it? The view was gorgeeous. The space is well laid out and furnished. The service was good, with one biig exception. My server needed bothered to ask how my lunch was. Had he asked, I might have sent it back. Or asked for a refund. Despite the positives, the failure to serve a hot "signature" dish requires one-star from me. read more

We received free meal vouchers to eat here. Double Tree really messed up on our room so they had given us enough vouchers to last during our week long stay. We used all the vouchers for breakfast, so I can only speak for that. First off, just don't waste your money. Close this review right now and just move along to another restaurant. This place was barely edible even for FREE. It's worse than a continental breakfast. The food here should be included in the price of the room. I'm not a picky eater and I got nauseated twice after eating here. It's seriously that bad. The view from inside is beautiful, and the servers are very nice. But those are the only positives. Double Tree, shame on you for charging actual money for people to eat this slop. My eggs tasted like rank fish. Steak was inedible, tasteless, and chewy. Just awful everything. 2nd best hush puppies I can remember eating ever. Recipe had like corn kernels and green onions in them. Whipped honey butter melted nicely on them. Crispy crunchy outside and warm middle. New England clam chowder was very different than what I've had before, but I might actually like this version better than most. It was thicker and chunkier than most clam chowders I've had. Consistency was closer to sausage gravy you use for biscuits and gravy than to a soup. Had bacon in it too, and doesn't bacon make everything better? My wife and I really enjoyed it. Son had shrimp and crab nachos. And they were really good to. My blue Hawaiian drink was just ok. The views were great. This is right on the beach. Inside and outdoor seating are stellar. The decor felt fresh, new, clean, nautical, simple. I quite liked it. It was hard to get a sense of a "vibe" from this place because we are here on spring break and there aren't many people. We also came to dinner earlyish. This was close to a 5 star for me, but my enjoyment of my drink, the selection of the menu (I actually liked prior menu's I saw posted on yelp I liked better than the current menu) and prices, just kept it from being a 5 star. But it was close. If you're staying at the Double Tree, I'd definitely eat here at least once. read more
