Not often you double back to the same spot on a trip... but when you do, it usually means they've done something right. This place? Did more than enough. Sat right out on its own pier, proper seaside setup. You're out there catching a bit of sun, breeze coming through, watching beachgoers stroll by like it's a live show put on just for you. Hard to beat, that. First visit was more of a casual affair. Bit of this, bit of that, nothing too serious. Started with the poke nachos, and fair play, they didn't hold back. Proper loaded. Tuna piled on, sauces working overtime, every bite doing its job. You could tell straight away they weren't cutting corners. Couple of draft Michelobs went down nicely, crisp, cold, no complaints there. The lady went for a Bloody Mary and swore by it. Said it had a bit of punch to it, which is exactly what you want. Still had a bit of room, so we went for the shark bites. And mate... absolute money. Light, crispy, seasoned just right. One of those plates where you keep reaching back in without thinking. Now here's where it gets interesting. We came back. Proper supper this time. Sat down, took it seriously. Started with the fried calamari. Nicely done, not rubbery, good crunch, does exactly what it should. Then the mains. Shrimp po' boy loaded up, proper seaside sandwich, messy in the best way. And the fried platter, shrimp, fish, oysters... the full spread. This is where they really showed out. Everything cooked right, nothing overdone, no shortcuts. Just solid seafood, done properly. Easily the best seafood we had in Myrtle Beach, and that's not something I say lightly. Some places are a one and done. This one had us coming back for a second go... and that tells you everything you need to know. Five stars. Proper job. read more

You are not able to get it any other way but fried. My complaint would be it needs to be offered grilled as the crust from frying just pulls right off. Location is fabulous but the food was just average. You can't beat the amazing view though! Lobster risotto bites were decent, though couldn't really taste any lobster. Calamari was pretty good, but not the best I've had. The clam chowder was terrible. I love clam chowder, and it's rare I don't enjoy it, but I couldn't finish it because it tasted so bad. Might be a fun place in the evenings for drinks on the pier but I can't recommend it based on the food. read more

We had a great time here. The menu isn't super expansive but you mostly go for the atmosphere. We were lucky to have good service. This had to be our best service experience so far out here in South Carolina. Our server was very polite and super attentive. I am very impressed with how fast we got our food and drink as well as how delicious it all was. The views were spectacular as this restaurant is nestled on a pier that overlooks the ocean. They have a gift shop and outdoor bar area that allows you to walk to the end of the pier. You can also purchase or bring your own fishing rods if you want to fish while here from the pier into the ocean. I ordered the tuna poke machine that were fresh and a very generous portion. I'm not partial to wasabi (yea I know it's weird cuz I love sushi) but the wasabi aioli they put in combo with the eel sauce was very very good and gave it a nice kick. To wash this down I ordered a frozen mixed drink called Lava Flow which tasted and looked very similar to a traditional Miami vice. It was so good I ordered a total of 3 at dinner and caught a happy little buzz. My entree was the seafood combo special with beer batter fried flounder, oysters and shrimp with fries. This was so good and the tartar / cocktail sauces added the nice contrast needed to break down the crispy savory food. Definitely recommend you guys check this place out! read more

After surviving the Black Friday gauntlet at the outlets (traffic, crowds, the whole saga), Pier 14 was exactly the kind of reset we needed. I hadn't really eaten all day, so by the time we arrived, I was at that special level of hungry where even the table crackers start looking meaningful. The location is unbeatable, right on the beach with a panoramic view of the water, the pier, the Ferris wheel, and the sunset doing its best impression of a postcard. I called ahead expecting a wait, but surprisingly it wasn't too busy (they don't take reservations, anyway). The host mentioned it was their last service before winter break, so the timing worked in our favor. We opted for outdoor seating because dogs are welcome outside, which is a huge plus. It was chilly, even with the heaters and the plastic wind guards, but still worth it for the view and the ability to bring the pup along. I ordered the seafood combo and my wife got the flounder. Unfortunately, my hunger level was strong enough to override all responsible food-reviewer instincts, so I didn't get a single photo. But I do remember that everything tasted delicious, fresh, well-seasoned, and exactly the comfort food we needed after a long day. Even the sides hit the spot. The kids got kids meals, which kept them happy. I remember the fries being really crispy even near the end of the meal as I was still snacking. Our server was fantastic, warm, attentive, and quick without rushing us. Despite it being their final service of the season, there was no sense of "let's wrap this up"; they treated every table like it still mattered. There was even a photographer that took a photo and gave one free as a postcard. You have the option to purchase other photos as well. Great food, great service, unbeatable views. I'd absolutely come back when it's warmer so we can enjoy the outdoor seating without feeling like we're marinating in a light ocean breeze. The Hush Puppies were the definite star of the show. Although, the first batch they brought out were all burnt. This week is apparently spring break, but we were able to get a table on the patio of Pier 14 with a view of the beach/ocean and Boardwalk Ferris Wheel. We were seated right away for our late lunch with Natalia taking good care of us. Pier 14 is the type of place we seek out whenever we are near the ocean - casual dining on/near the beach. And bonus is a place that is dog friendly and they did a great job keeping the water bowl full. We also do our best to take in the local flavors and we started with a Basket of Hushpuppies and I ordered the Juicy Loosey Goosey cocktail (because of the ingredients but also because of the name). My husband doesn't usually like hushpuppies and he liked these. We were intrigued by the Pier 14 Fish Rueben sandwich with a side of macaroni and with Natalia's input we ordered the meal and both items were very good. The flavor of the macaroni salad was surprisingly very good. We finished up with their delicious Key Lime Pie. We came here around noon on a Thursday in March, so it was slow. We asked for inside seating (it was still a bit nippy outside) and we had a great view of the beach and ocean.The establishment was clean, and we received our drinks quickly, and then our food. I had the Po' Boy sandwich (with shrimp) which WOULD have been excellent if it wasn't on the dry side. My serving of fries was pretty small too. The seafood platter had 4 fantail shrimp, 4 oysters, 1 piece of white fish filet. Fries and slaw. The flounder plate consist of 1 piece of flounder (which is what we ordered) fries and slaw. The seafood plate was good, hot and small enough for all of it to be consumed. The flounder plate had no taste just a blah piece of fish. A nice little gift shop attached. The only negative - they charge, per person, for you to walk out onto the pier. I would think if you ate dinner there, that should cover a pier walk. We stopped here after we landed because we were too early for check in. I asked to be seated outside cause it's nice to hear the ocean and see the beach. We even got to see a beach proposal! I had ordered the shrimp po boy and my husband asked our waitress for recs between 2 things and he picked the fish and chips. The shrimps on the po boy had a good fry to it and the sauce was really good! I wasn't a fan of the bread they used for it though. Felt like a little too thick and not toasted. The fish was really good! The batter is light and the fish was flakey and not too oily. The fries are seasoned so it was nice. We stopped here on our drive between Carolina Beach and Charleston, because I really wanted to see the famous Myrtle Beach. What a great choice to stop for a beverage. Service was very hospitable and attentive. The site is perfectly situated on an actual pier overlooking one of the prettiest and cleanest beaches I've ever seen (our West coast beaches are often riddled with bunches of seaweed that capture the attention of little, pesky flies). No seaweed visible here, just white sand beaches and crystal blue water. My husband ordered a beer and I had what I believe was called a watermelon Cosmo. I really loved the refreshing flavor of my drink. VERY tasty. We split an appetizer of Ahi Poke Nachos. The ahi was very fresh, the chips were crispy and drizzled with teriyaki sauce.
