I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the treatment my husband and I received during our visit to your San Juan location today.
Last week, while on vacation, we visited your brewery and had a wonderful experience. My husband, who is an avid craft beer enthusiast, was looking forward to returning so he could sample the remaining beers he had not tried during our first visit and purchase one of your hats as a souvenir.
Unfortunately, our experience today was completely different.
Upon arriving, we were greeted by a front-of-house employee who informed us, in a rude and dismissive manner, that there were no tables available for two. This explanation was confusing because we could clearly see multiple empty tables, including the very table where we had been seated during our previous visit.
I accepted what I had been told and walked outside while my husband remained inside to browse your merchandise. While he was there, he observed another couple arrive and be seated despite being told moments earlier that no tables were available.
Based on what we experienced and observed, we were left questioning whether we were treated differently because of our race. I sincerely hope that was not the case, but it is difficult to ignore how events unfolded. No customer should leave a business wondering whether they were denied service because of the color of their skin.
Whether this was the result of poor judgment, inconsistent seating policies, or something more concerning, the outcome was the same: we left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and deeply disappointed.
Businesses that welcome the public have a responsibility to treat all guests with fairness, consistency, and respect. The manner in which we were spoken to, combined with seeing another couple seated immediately afterward, fell far short of that standard.
I ask that you investigate this incident, review any available security footage, and speak with the employee who was working the front entrance at the time of our visit. I also encourage you to examine whether your seating policies are being applied consistently to all guests.
We returned because we enjoyed our first visit and wanted to support your brewery. Instead, we left with an experience that has overshadowed our vacation and left us questioning whether we were truly welcome in your establishment.
I hope you will take this complaint seriously and respond with an explanation of what occurred and what steps, if any, will be taken to ensure that other customers do not experience similar experiences. read more
