Avoid Ocean Nails Spa in Stevenson Ranch! I went tonight with my nearly 4 year old daughter, as well as my sister and mother. We specifically went there because I saw on Facebook that they have the kid chairs. We had an awful experience. None of us could sit in the chair beside my daughter. They wanted us spread out all over the salon. My sister and mother didn't get started until 30 minutes after our appointment. At 45 minutes past our appointment I complained to the receptionist. It was packed in there. I asked if it was typical to still be waiting that long. I told her I'm a member of a children and families group on Facebook and would be writing a review of our experience. She blamed the manager for forcing her to take every walk-in. I requested to see the manager. The manager acted completely surprised and when I told confronted her about how awful our experience was so far, she just kept repeating how sorry she was. I told her about the Facebook group I was part of and how I was going to be writing a review. She then began to blame the receptionist for not informing her of the delay in service. It was seriously the worst customer service I have ever had anywhere. As this was happening, my sister got the woman who was doing her pedicure to find someone to do my daughter's pedicure and manicure. My heart broke for my daughter because she was so excited about her first time at a nail salon. The manager assured me she would get the chair beside my daughter's chair available for me so I could be next to her. That didn't happen. They wanted me to sit as far away from my daughter as possible. I declined the pedicure and instead spent the remainder of our time there beside my daughter in a rolling chair trying to be happy so she would remember this as a fun experience. The manager disappeared until right as we were about to walk out the door. She said she was going to give only me my pedicure for free. When we told her I didn't even get one, she just kept repeating she was sorry. I would never recommend anyone go here, with or without children. I'm giving a 1 star review only because the gel manicure was not the best but it was barely ok, and the pedicure polish was good, however, I left with my feet now feeling like sandpaper. My feet look and feel very dry, which annoys me because I left with my feet looking and feeling way worse than when I walked in. The 3 to 4 receptionists were more concerned about socializing among themselves instead of paying attention to their clients' needs and staff's requests for assistance. Today was my 4th and last visit (I tried my best to give them a chance). I had tried them because of how bad Nail Forum had become. They are two peas in a pod. Both BAD. To make matters worse, the one staff member who actually spoke English properly was attending to her client right next to me and she was so loud, I could not hear what my manicurist was saying to me. Horrible service from KAREN. Asian mean BITCH who thinks she knows it all. she started yelling and screaming at me for not liking the way she did my nails. Demanded that I have to pay. Melanie who is the manager was on vacation and there was no other manager available at the time. beyond disappointed. If melanie is not available everyone there DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Price is very expensive for the service we get. They need to learn english first before they can service the people. This place is a complete joke! I went in and after 10 minutes of waiting with no service in a chair with no water 2 women approached me..I assume they were in training as I usually don't have 2 people at a station for just my feet. These women turned on the water but couldn't get the spa to turn on so they both were searching all over. During this period the woman dropped by phone into the water that was on my lap. Now I admit this was probably an accident but the fact that the NEW business didn't return any of my calls, they take no responsibility for their workers actions and had the nerve to say I was taking advantage of them as I have 2 cell phones? !?!? Well guess what..some people in the business world do and they should have been thankful they dropped the $300 and not the $1000 one. I would not tell anyone and mean anyone to use this business especially if they make a mistake they will then blame you. I would also like to mention there were no sing stating no cell usage at the foot stations and I will be taking them to small claims court. This is NO WAY to start a new business in SCV. I would not go to any of their locations and give $ to a business that treats a customer this way. I will see you in court Ocean nails...you can count on it. My next xteps will be the better business bureau to make sure all of your "techs" are licensed and ruin your company they way you ruined my phone. read more

I have come into the salon twice for a manicure and my experience was fine but a few days ago I went in for a pedicure and I came out with an infection. The male technician was very aggressive with my big toe and it started bleeding. Two days later the pain got worse and It was red and swollen. After going to urgent care, the Dr. said I did get an infection and am now on antibiotics. I went in to talk to the manager and let her know what happened. She issued me a refund for the pedicure price after trying to get me to have someone else work on me to make it better and assuring me all tools are sterilized. I will not be going back. read more

Disaster. That describes my one and only encounter here. She did not shape my nails after I asked her to twice. When she finished, she took a nail file to the top of my thumb nail and scratched it up. They look horrible. They are bumpy, there are bubbles, and uneven paint. I decided to try a change from my usual Nail Forum pedi and made an appointment for 1pm. The receptionist is very nice on the phone, but a complete disaster trying to manage intake/outtake from the salon. There were a mom and daughter, two friends together and me walking in at the same time and the receptionist seemed very unsure about where to put them, what they were all having done and who was supposed to work on them. When people were leaving and having to pay, everything else stopped, keeping us waiting. Hello, scheduling? Not happening here. I sat for nearly 20 minutes before she got me to a seat (no bags/plastic over foot basins which is gross), then waited there watching the receptionist continue to be confused. Everyone else was being apologized to, as well. I got up after a couple more minutes to tell her I was leaving. She said, oh, no! The lady to work on you is right here! No thanks. My time is valuable - what is the point of an appointment if you wait 20-25 minutes afterward to even start. What is the deal with businesses dealing with women who treat us like our time can just be wasted? :( read more

Definitely agree with some of the reviews that say this nail salon is a hit or miss. First time I went was great. I got a manicure and pedicure. I had a design done on my pedicure. She did a good job. I was pleased. I went this morning for another manicure & pedicure. I had the same girl that did my prior pedi. She did such an awful job this time. I am having my pedi redone someplace else as I write this review. I chose a Christmas design that she suggested. It was so sloppy and uneven. I should have paid closer attention to what she was doing. My fault! I won't go back. I will stick to my regular place. I also get the feeling they talk about you amongst themselves. 4 stars because the girl at the counter lately is a brat and just has an attitude about her. She brings down the salons reputation for sure. I've seen some very kind and friendly girls checking me in in the past but this one really ruins my experience. Worst receptionist I have ever encountered. Terrible attitude, impolite, etc. I received rude looks and no communication when paying my tabs at the counter. Let me start off by saying, I never complain about the service industry. I always error on the side of "they are doing the best they can". I've been going here for 5 years and never had a major problem. Sure, every fill has t been perfect. The employees talk to each more than their customers. But nothing worth getting super upset or to cause me to stop going. Until today. Today I had not only the worst experience here, but the worst customer experience I've ever had. I went in with my gf for a fill and a pedi. We sat down and Danny comes over and says, what's wrong with your toe? Out loud. In front of everyone. First of all, kind of rude. Then proceeds to bring others over and make fun of my toes. Just because I don't speak the language, doesn't mean that I am stupid. When people walk over and point and your feet, you kind of have some idea what the hell they are talking about. My friend is so upset for me, she refuses to get her nails done. I had an important meeting tomorrow, so I sucked it up and sat through the shortest and most ridiculous fill and pedi. The lady then asks me why my friend changed her mind and I told her she was upset. The lady doing my nails asked "at us?" And I said yes but I'm uncomfortable and don't want to talk to them. So I sit through it and wait to pay. One of the employees that came over to laugh was at the counter with the receptionist. When she asked how the service was, I said awful and asked for the managers name and number. The employee who laughed asked why and I told him I didn't want to talk to him. I had to ask the receptionist three times for the managers name, because she sat there quiet like she couldn't hear me and she finally told me it was Melanie. She only works Friday and Saturday. I plan to call and complain. I will never go here again and encourage everyone to not give them business. read more

My daughter and I have been to Ocean Nails in Stevenson Ranch several times now. We have always enjoyed wonderful experiences there to the point of bringing and recommending it to friends. My personal favorite is MICHELLE - she is simply amazing! The foot and calf massage she gave me was therapist quality! I left feeling great from my last appointment. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the last time I was there they did not start my daughters manicure until well after her pedicure was done. I think they must have been short handed that day (it was a Sunday). My daughter and I were seated next to eachother and enjoying some great bonding time and the manicurist finally carme around and needed to move her to the counter, as she claimed there was not enough space to work on her nails at the pedicure chairs. If that's the worst that happens, I am still a big fan. I just hope they don't change for the worse like so many of our other salons have done. If you live in SC Valley, you know it's hard to find a great salon. I've always experienced very friendly service from everyone, including the receptionist. They are extremely accomidating and make you feel very important. This salon is definitely still my 'go to' for manicures and pedicures. The work they do is great and lasts. FILTHY, UNSANITARY! I can't believe the woman doing my manicure tried to use non-sterilized tools. I watched her leave a customer and rinse the tools under the tap for 10 seconds or so then try to use them on me! Great way to get an infection...When I questioned her, she said "sorry" and opened a fresh package. The towel was also disgusting, it was definitely used a few times before. The experience I have had the 2 times I have gone into this salon are both pretty crappy. Both times I went in on a Sunday with no appointment for a polish change and to fix a broken nail. I normally go to another salon that is not open Sunday's and on the rare occasion I accidentally break a nail on a Saturday, I have to go somewhere else just so that I don't have one missing nail all week. Anyways - both times I got different nail techs. Comments from the nail tech - You need a fill (obviously, it's been over a week since I get one) If you didn't get your nails put on here I have to charge $8 for one broken nail They have also criticized the nails I have and that I should tell my normal nail person to do this or that I go to a very popular salon in the area and the work is EXCELLENT. Just yesterday when I went in to have my one nail fixed she said all these things then proceeded to make the nail in any old shape, twice as big as any other nail I have. It looks horrible. To top it all off the nail polish and top coat which she hastily and sloppily applied and charged me $6 for is still getting dented and moving around 24 hours later because the top coat was so thick. This place is so below the minimum standard I would ever have for a nail salon - spend your money some where else. read more

I got full set of nails on my 1st visit..decent. Went back to treat my husband to pedi mani and watching them, they sucked. My husband said the same. They lotioned up part of one arm and barely the other. The feet were not treated right either. And they talked amongst themselves when they didn't upsell us. So yesterday, I was there for one last chance and different person. Tom sucked too. Used a scrub on my legs but not on my feet. Hurt my toes and rubbed my knees bad. He didn't even file toes even. It's definitely a hit and miss. Some nail techs are super sweet and clean,- and do an amazing job. Today my daughter and I had a lady and man (older) and they talked non- stop about us! The lady yelled at me because I cut my daughters nails to short before we came. Ok,- I am guilty of cutting nails really short because that's how I like them! I said I am sorry. Can u imagine going in for a pedi,- thinking u are going to relax with your child who is excited to have her nails done and then get berated by the nail tech! I was still so nice to them,- and the man doing my toes was not listening when I asked nicely 4 times to please do not do scrub,- but no.... Here comes the scrub! I said no scrub please again! Then the mean lady doing my daughter starts yelling at my daughter,-to stay still under the light so the gel will cure! My daughter whispers that the top of her feet were burning from the uv light not positioned right over her foot. I told the lady that my daughter keeps moving because the light was burning her skin! The lamp was literally laying on the top of her foot. She was furious,- treating me like I'm a complainer and I'm not! She obviously does not care for kids, even though my daughter is 13. :( The gentleman working on me had not very clean implements and laughed when I tipped him the full 20 % - which seemed strange to me since neither tech deserved any money at all. If you really examine things,-the whole place is filthy,- (chairs,implements, floors,etc.) Believe it or not I still may go back but only if I can figure out the lady's name who did us a long time ago and was very good. I went to Ocean Nails Spa because my regular manicurist was unavailable. What a HUGE mistake. The woman who did my pink & white fills did a horrible job...The pedicure wasn't bad (the hot stones were nice) but way way too expensive for what I received. No foot massage with the premium pedicure? She asked me if I wanted a foot massage for an additional cost. WOW!!! The worst thing was while I was trying to relax, eyes closed during the hot stone portion and the receptionist came over and asked me to pay because he wanted to close out the register. The "spa" was open for another hour and there were other guests just beginning their treatments. The entire experience was bad and I will never cheat on my manicurist again. $100 later, lesson learned! My nails are lifting and look like crap after 1 week. Never again... read more

Really not the greatest. I went for a pedi one time and it was mediocre. I tried going back 2-3 more times, but they're too busy and not all of their workers do acrylic. I've been told come back in 2-3 hours. I'm not hanging around waiting for that when there are tons of other nail places in the area. It's basically an appointment only place. After I write this review I am calling the HEALTH DEPARTMENT. After Tim stabbed me repeatedly in the nail bed with his cuticle stick, prompting me to cry out in pain, a female nail tech took over and did a wonderful design for my pedi. Unfortch, when she left, Tim came back over to put my sandals on, and he messed up three toes, TWICE OVER, and redid them poorly. When I was checking out, I was asked about my experience. In a very lowkey way, I explained the poor service. The assistant manager was called. I was asked to explain to him the details of my experience. He then asked me to stay while he called the manager, someone named Dong. The young man on the phone explained the situation to Dong, and then pushed the phone at my face, saying "Tell Dong what you told us." At this point a 40 minute pedi has taken an hour and a half, I have open wounds on my feet and nail beds, and I am needing to get home for a repairman. I declined to speak with Dong and tell the same story AGAIN. So they charged me full price saying that, per Dong's instructions, "if I refused to speak to him, he refused to make things right for me." read more
