He seemed to be the most qualified and honest to deal with. I wanted to go with the insulated patio cover which most other companies will not prefer to do because they can make a better profit installing the non-insulated patio cover. He was good about letting me know when the work would be finished even with the rain delays. I had to update this review, as after many attempts, the company would not respond to helping to fix the cement. There is on section that has a metal shard sticking out that would be very dangerous if stepped on. Horrible customer service. Once the job is done they couldn't care less about you. Had a short in one of my patio lights less than 2 weeks after they were done and they ghosted me. No response. Also they took twice as long as they said they would to complete the job, the project manager never once visited the job site and when I would call him he would not answer and only text me. They left a huge mess with metal shavings everywhere that I'm still finding and came in a lot over the original estimate. Avoid at all cost. Buyer beware. read more

John did a wonderful job hauling away and rebuilding a sunroom on one of our properties. He was professional, knowledgeable, and communicated greatly with us on what needed to be done. We were grateful of the information he gave us; we had a nearby tree cracking our foundation and pavers, and the old foundation was also built up to high to where it would create issues with our home in event of heavy rains. John and his crews provided solutions and was able to build a fantastic sunroom for our tenants. He was more than willing to throw in extra handyman services to fix some smaller issues we had and has given us great advice and recommendations on other projects since. Full Disclosure: I'm writing this review on behalf of my Mother who does not have a yelp account. Although the product appears to be good and was installed well, she had serious communication issues with John. As per other reviews she found him to be unresponsive. He committed to re-directing a downspout so it would drain away from her slippery raised patio. In all fairness, he stated the product came the way it is but that he would modify. Repeated texts over a 4 month period proved futile to get the downspout issue resolved. Again, the product seems great, thus the 3 star rating, but communication and follow-thru by John appear to be lacking. read more

Getting a new solid Duralum cover from Ocean Pacific Patios was the best home improvement project we've done. John H. was knowledgeable, thorough, and patient. He brought samples so we could see and touch the materials. He arranged visits to nearby Ocean Pacific installs, which was very helpful. When our HOA initially rejected our arch application, John came with us to our HOA's board meeting to address their concerns. That was above and beyond. The design and install were both excellent. The integrated rain gutter was used to solve a major drainage problem we had. The Duralum product itself is great. No painting or maintenance needed. No worries about termites or dry rot. It's been several years and it still looks brand new. The cover gave us a beautiful and useful outdoor living space. Clean and dry in the winter. Cool and shaded in the summer. Our only regret is not having done it sooner! read more

With so many other companies to choose from I would recommend looking elsewhere. The communication - performance - follow up with this "one man band" company (if you can call it that) is a joke. We selected Ocean Pacific based on them supposed to be a local company - John the "Construction Manager" lived close to our neighborhood and we felt comfortable with his approach to getting the job done quick. A "quick installation" schedule of within a week turned into almost 3 weeks with little to no communication. Thankfully they did get the job done as quoted! Fast forward a couple of months later when they were asked to repair some lattice that was damaged by another trade ....... indeed they showed up and "took measurements" for the replacements and were suppose to return within a "couple days" for the installation. A couple days turned into almost 2 weeks ... when the installers showed up ..... WHOOPS .. "we don't have the material". As a fellow tradesman I understand delays and hiccups .... not the end of the world. I was told by John the installers would return "next week"..... we are now approaching ONE MONTH since the lattice was suppose to be replaced with absolutely no communication from John or the person we have left messages with on the "office" answering machine. Long story short ...... call someone else otherwise you could end up like us with a nice patio cover that has missing lattice tubes and no way to know if / when this so called company will ever return. read more

We chose Ocean Pacific Patio to remodel our backyard and couldn't be happier with the result. OPP demo all the cracked, uneven concrete floor and replaced them with beautiful interlocking pavers. They also built a new covered patio that stretches to the width of my house and now we have plenty of space to enjoy the California weather. They redo the drain issue that I had before when a puddle of water would not drain properly due to poor sloping. After a few rainy days, I noticed a huge improvement in my backyard. No more water puddle build-up and everything is draining out to the street properly.  Their crewmen were fast and efficient. When they are on-site, you can see progress and result on the same day which makes you feel at ease knowing you chose the right contractor. John and Karen were easy to work with and the whole process took about 2 months to be completed. We would definitely recommend OPP to anyone needing a backyard remodel. read more

Because of the COVID mess, it took a year to get all of my work done but it was well worth it. John kept in touch often and worked closely with me and the engineer in order to get proper permits approved by the city. Since these approvals were now virtual, it took more effort to coordinate. We headed on the right path, had the quotes and then I got the "right quote " and ran with it , booked and ordered. Karen is very hard working and friendly when I met her for the estimated quote. The "Expected start date " was set with John on our 2nd encounter with finalization before ordering . And then the date came and passed . I had to follow up ," are y'all coming today ?" Which I totally understand about set backs and tweaking the start date,things happen that may cause a short delay. It's like the weather you can't always determine what it would be like until the day it happens. We can only predict. But I think the customer should be notified before the customer waiting is the one wondering. However, each time I text John, he did reply back when I wanted a follow up. I was a little skeptical after I started reading more reviews and got worried where our business relationship may head. Update, part 3. This is our 3rd go around with OPP. We had the work done in April and they were extremely unreliable in returning calls & showing up as scheduled. A second project was needed to fix the drain. After many promises, they did not come and we had to pay someone else to fix it. OPP then called us in August to see if they could show a potential customer their work. I agreed to get off work to show the patio. They were going to send a gift card for my efforts and inconvenience. As of mid-September, there is no gift card. After several phone calls and texts it is still "in the mail". Customer service is just not a priority with them in any manner. Beware. read more

We usually don't write reviews because there is nothing that special to review but in 2010 we had a patio redone in Duralum. We contacted John and he came out and walked the project w/ us that included tear down of existing wood patio, add structural beams to support existing roof, add and expand patio in Duralum, add 2 fans, 4 light fixtures (pull all electrical), repaint all existing beams/supports/roof to match the Duralum color. All this was done above a large 3K gallon Koi fish pond. The job was well run and completed on time w/o any delays and was cleaned up prior to departure and all of our Fish survived. You will note in the picture the patio looks as good today as the day it was completed and we just contacted John again to do a project on a house in Oxnard and thought that anyone needing a good recommendation for OPP should hear our story. The fact we went back to John speaks volumes as to the company's professionalism. You won't find any better company to work with! read more

Work contracted for a replacement cover for our gazebo. It's original wood covering rotted and fell down. Karen provided us with the quote and John visited the site for finalizing the design and plan. The payment was structured in 3 stages, at sign up, at visit site and upon completion. Things were inching along slowly but fine. The Gazebo covering has been installed. the accompanying light fixtures not so. The crew that came to install could not power up the lines and left with wires hanging out , but taped. 2 of the 4 fixture were not even screwed in. That was March 18th. From then until now no response from them despite text messages and an email. Finally I got a local electrician to come by and reconfigure the wiring and got the lights to work. But the fixtures which required 3 screws each to fasten them had only 4 between them. The most unprofessional thing about this has been that the third and final payment which was supposed to be done after completion of work had been collected from the credit card on file. Small job, I had a leaking aluminum patio cover. John, as he will with you, wowed me with his big personality and his "we do over 700 patio covers a year". Also, interestingly, he complained about Yelp and his poor overall rating, blaming it on Yelp. It was obvious that, due to this being such a small job, it was not a high priority for them. They worked it in to their schedule, showing up late in the afternoon and jammed it in to finish that same day, late pm when it was pitch black dark. I paid cash. Asked the foreman for a receipt. He texted John who texted back and said "I'll email him one". Which I never received. I texted John 4 times (the Ocean Pacific phone number never answers, and says "text me if you want a response", which I received a return text maybe 60% of the time). John kept promising me a receipt. "I'm out in the field alot". "We've been closed for a week and a half". "I'll do it when I get back in the office for sure this week". And never did he deliver on a receipt, where I bona fide paid cash on the spot. Latest rains, the roof still leaks. Gosh, maybe the Yelp rating is not really Yelp's fault? First of all, I HATE to leave bad reviews. But with that being said I feel like this needs to be done. I got this referral on FB and everyone seemed so happy with their product. So we called and got our patio done. Fast and painless. Until we had a problem a week later. Than we saw the true service behind this company. We had a leak with the tiny amount of mist we had a couple months ago that came through a can light. It started to get rusty and brown. The patio is only a couple weeks old at this point. Besides ignoring our calls, messages and texts, we got zero response. I finally had to call "John" from another number and miraculously he picked up. He finally came by to look and did nothing but add more water to the patio. He than said to contact another person so we did because the stain in the can light came back... how odd... That person came out a couple weeks later and said that it's not balanced and cleaned out the light again! It's been a couple weeks again, he left the light exposed with wires hanging down and the light is just hanging out of its canister. We don't want to touch it and have been waiting for a call back for them to fix this issue once and for all. No one is returning calls or messages again. They collected our money and have washed their hands with this problem. I will never ever recommend them to anyone! Bad customer service all the way around. You don't treat paying customers like this. You don't treat people like this. It's been a couple months now and it's not fixed. Not right! read more
