We started with drinks and soon after we sat down came the bread. The bread was really good and the person passing it out was friendly. Next, my husband ordered a glass of a local Tempranillo that he enjoyed. We shared a Crab & Avocado Salad which was split by the kitchen. It had a nice light dressing and the portion was a great size to split. My husband ordered the spicy tuna and had them put it on the side. Although he tasted the sauce, it was very spicy. I had the special paella. It had lots of different kinds of seafood along with chorizo sausage. It is a huge portion with a large amount of rice and peas. For dessert, we shared the key lime pie. It was a good combination of sweet and sour. Our waiter was very attentive and came back several times to check on us. Although it was a bit noisy, but not unbearable. We would recommend this place for a nice sit-down dinner..

When we were seated, we asked for a high chair three separate times before one was finally brought to our table. The high chair turned out to be too small for our son, so we asked if we could use a booster seat on the end chair instead. The server seemed hesitant, mentioning she wasn't sure she'd be able to get by the chair. We said that was fine and instead placed the booster seat between my wife and me. After struggling to get our son comfortable, we eventually realized the booster seat has two different height settings depending on which side is facing down. It would have been helpful if that had been pointed out when it was brought to the table. Throughout the meal, our server seemed distracted and wasn't around very often. Our food was brought out by other staff members, which isn't necessarily a problem by itself, but combined with the lack of check-ins it made the service feel disconnected. The biggest disappointment came when I took my son outside while we waited. The benches, chairs, and handrails in the waiting area were covered in bird droppings. There were spider webs in multiple places, and the entrance to the restaurant itself looked dirty. I understand the restaurant is going for an old harbor or fishing-boat atmosphere, but there's a big difference between rustic and neglected. Instead of feeling charming or nautical, it felt like years of dirt and grime had simply been left in place. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but basic cleanliness and attentive service are things I expect from any restaurant, especially when dining with a young child. I hope management takes this as constructive feedback because the restaurant has potential, but our experience left us with little desire to return.

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Crab IslandUnfortunately, our experience at Crab Island was…read moreone of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. This was supposed to be a special day as we were celebrating our 8th anniversary on our way to Glen Ivy Spa. We were looking forward to a nice boiling crab dinner, but the entire evening was ruined from the start. We were told we could walk in and sit anywhere, only to be told the available seating was reserved. Our server appeared very inexperienced and struggled with basic menu questions, orders, drinks, and customer service. Our sodas took about 10 minutes and were flat and overly syrupy. We were also told that if we were to order sushi, it could only be from the front page of a four page sushi menu. The seafood boil was extremely disappointing. The seasoning was overwhelmingly garlicky rather than the lemon-pepper flavor we requested. The shrimp were mushy, the crab legs were unusually small and difficult to open, and the sausage and other ingredients tasted old and overcooked. Service continued to be a major issue. We had to repeatedly ask for utensils, napkins, and crackers, but instead of getting what we asked for, we were handed scissors. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, yet we were frequently ignored while the server focused on phone and new walk-in orders. We also had to beg for basic items like water and butter. The lemon pepper seasoning we asked for were a couple lemon wedges with a teaspoon of salt and pepper in a small plastic to go container. The most concerning part was the restroom situation. The women's restroom was being worked on, so my fiancé was directed to use the men's restroom, where she nearly stepped in human waste on the floor. We quietly informed the staff, who seemed to address it, but the entire situation was extremely unsanitary. At the end, we waited again for our check and discovered we had been charged $5 for a small side of butter that had taken approximately 20 minutes to arrive. When we politely questioned the charge, the situation became uncomfortable, with the owner and another employee coming out to discuss it rather than simply resolving the issue. We remained respectful throughout the entire experience because we understand what it's like to work in the service industry. Unfortunately, the food, cleanliness, service, and overall experience were simply unacceptable. We even felt sick afterward. We have never left a zero tip before, but this was the first time we genuinely felt the service warranted it. Not sure if this place changed owners, but the reviews went from good to horrible, and we are not the only ones with bad food experiences. We are still paying for it, our stomachs have been sour from the food, into the next day, which ruined our Glen Ivy spa day for our anniversary. Do your mind and body and favor a don't not go! Sadly, we cannot recommend this restaurant. For us, it was less "Crab Island" and more "Crap Island."

Their Lasagna, one of my favorites... seemed dry, perhaps extensively overheated. The Chicken Parmigiana was overcooked, so dry and crispy. It was difficult to cut with a knife. But perhaps the biggest disappointment was a feeling of being rushed through our meal after being seated for less than 45 minutes. We had not one, but four different servers ask if we wanted boxes even as we were still eating. Just because someone pauses for a moment does not mean the meal is over. And our Check was presented immediately with our dessert. Huh? It created Zero ambiance. The evening felt like a stopwatch clocking our time at the table. And no, we didn't come close to the obligatory 1 1/2 hours allocated for our reservation.
