I do have to say a lot of people does come here for celebration and family gathering, therefore, if you come in rush hours there might be a little wait. We came in after driving a LONG drive from Hemet, Ca to eat here. At first it was a bit confusing because the lady who sat us down said something we didn't understand. A grandmother, daughter, and her four children apparently get taxed a forced tip included into the check because there were a total of six people. Natalie our server was very nice and professional. She brought the lemon! Yay . They ordered some 1/2 pound bag of crab stuff, chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, while I ordered a clam chowder soup and some calamari that was on the hour menu. I enjoyed my food and watched them enjoy theirs. The restaurant is very clean including the bathrooms. Early on in her life Toby had a traumatic incident involving her hands and has been phobic about anything untoward getting on them while she could avoid it. This includes food. Because of this I've never been able to share the gloriousness that is a full seafood boil, especially a good one like Pier 88. The headless peel n' eat shrimp and crawfish, the true backbone of any decent boil, were plump and delicious. I felt kind of giddy every time I would finish one and saw how many were left. The lobster tail was a good change-of-pace and the king crab legs, admittedly not my favorite item, still managed to satisfy. I also like how they threw in so much potatoes and sausage into the mix. It was definitely super generous at what other places consider an afterthought. I thought the service was alright. They seemed to have forgotten one of my party's margaritas but that could have been more a slow bartender than an inept server. I also never got a prompt to refill my soda, which is a little more concerning. The ambiance was pretty good. There were plenty of tables and booths, and everything was spaced appropriately. You definitely don't feel like you're on top of the tables around you. They also had plenty of TV's as the World Cup was easy to watch along with. I could be happy here any time I get the craving for some shrimp and crawfish. And as long as the servers were more diligent about refills. One time I'll figure out how to get Miss Scotch herself to one of these things, dirty hands be damned. I'd say getting your hands in the muck and mire of delicious foods is half the fun. It was our 1st time going wasn't sure if we should pour the boil on the table or eat out of the bag. We were told there isn't a wrong way to chomp down. Pier 88 is the whole shebang-- flavorful food, awesome service, spotless restaurant, great value! We ordered the shrimp po boy, fried shrimp basket, clam chowder, popcorn shrimp, white fish & chips, and corn on the cob 88 special seasoning. My grandson wanted to try this place and we finally found the time. We ordered the kings special and added crawfish and sausage with the garlic butter. Yikes, I'm honestly surprised by the overall high ratings for this place. My hubby and I came here a few days ago for the first time and were really looking forward to it. We ordered the Famous Low Country Boil, a half pound of crab legs with the 88 Special (medium spice), extra corn, rice, and a side of butter. The flavor was... just average run-of-the-mill typical franchise standard. And the medium spice had very little kick to it. If you like actual spice, you'll probably want to go higher. They also don't give that much sauce compared to other boiling crab spots, so that was a bit disappointing. Service also wasn't great. Our waitress was nice, but pretty inattentive. Our food came out without the side of butter I specifically asked for, and she had been chatting at another table for a solid 10 minutes. The second my husband got up to ask the host for butter, she suddenly came over to check on us. It just didn't feel like anyone else mattered. I noticed another table had to flag her down too. I'd genuinely love to hear from SD locals who've been to Crab Hut, The Boiling Crab, or Crab Pub and how this compares-- because in my opinion, this was subpar and disappointing for the price. I was so glad when this seafood boil opened in Temecula! Seafood boils are an all time favorite food for me. I've ate here a couple times, and remember it was good enough to come back. Came back for Mother's Day and it's not how I remember it. The seasoning was way too salty and there was too much butter and water so it was not as good as I remember it to be. We ordered it at a medium spice level, which is generally a good amount of spice. But theirs wasn't really spicy at all that it could've passed for mild or no spice at all. The shrimp quality was okay, you could tell that it was cheap shrimp but the crab and lobster tails were not bad. Customer service ebbed and flowed, there were times where we were checked on so much while we were eating already and times where they forgot our drinks or would go a while without checking on us. The plastic table covers were too small for the table so it wasn't fun trying to make sure all the butter grease wouldn't get on our forearms, clothes or lap. We did have bibs but we still got some of the stuff on our clothes because the table cover kept sliding around. Overall experience was okay, but I think I'll start exploring other nearby seafood boils. read more

We came here to celebrate my brother's birthday and all I can say is, FINALLY there's a really good seafood broil place in the Temecula/Murrieta area. I was pretty excited to try this place because it took over Tilted Kilt - so the restaurant was pretty spacious. It's very clean inside & the nautical theme was very cute. The servers in my opinion were a bit lacking. We had one server in the beginning who was extremely sweet & checked up on us often, but she was done with her shift so she did a courtesy check-up with us to let us know that someone else was going to be helping us the rest of the night. We probably only saw this server once in the beginning and she disappeared for the rest of the night. We constantly had to grab other servers walking by to ask for things we needed. Though the food, I'd say is a good 4/5! Really good prices for the combo seafood broils, we got the $108 seafood special with lobster, snow crab, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, and 2 different types of clams. It was a great deal & a HUGE load of food. Between 4 of us, we still couldn't finish the combo deal. Perfect for leftovers. Regardless, the experience here was great and the sauce was pretty good - medium is pretty spicy FYI so you'll get a nice hot tingle to your food! read more

Wanted to try this place since they opened. My son loves a seafood boil. They have happy hour too so that's a plus. We came in around 4:30 on a Friday. Not too crowded. Lovely place with a bar and lots of tables. Music great and servers greet you right away. I ordered the happy hour cheese sticks and calamari. We celebrated our daughter's accomplishment of attaining a high score on her DAT and requested to dine at Pier 88. It was our first time here and it reminded me of Crab Hut. This venue however, had more ocean view designs hanging from the ceiling and walls. The replica of sharks looks fascinating as well. We ordered a pound of shrimp for six and the house platter, which included calamari, chicken wings and cheese balls. The crinkle-cut fries were also crispy. Everything tasted great. New spot alert!! Wanted to check out this new restaurant since the previous place closed quite some time ago. Sadly, there have been multiple restaurants at this location in recent years. I have a feeling, Pier 88 Boiling Seafood & Bar is here to stay! There was a bit of a wait when we arrived on Saturday evening at around 5:30. That would be expected. However, the wait wasn't more than 10-15 minutes as the parties ahead of us were seated rather quickly. Our server, Zayna, was really friendly when we asked about the menu and needing a few extra minutes to decide. After we ordered, it wasn't long before our food started coming out. We ordered the Famous Low Country Boil (1/2 Lb Snow Crab Legs, 1/2 Lb Shrimp, 1/2 sausages and added 1 Lb black mussels, 1 Lb of broccoli and a side of steamed rice. Also got a side salad to round out the meal. The order came with potatoes and corn on the cobb. The Low Country Boil would easily feed 2 adults. Since we were both HANGRY, the add ons were perfect! Maybe a little too much broccoli, but it was all UH-MAZ-ING! Spice wise we requested the Pier 88 Special which has Cajun, garlic butter and lemon pepper with medium heat. Be prepared to make a mess! It was delicious, perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. I am pleasantly surprised from my recent visit here tonight. I came once or twice before and wasn't wowed but I'm glad it was different this time. We came in craving a good seafood boil and left completely blown away. The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned--every bite was on point. The shrimp, crab, and sausage were all cooked perfectly, and the sauce was next level very flavorful. But what really made the experience stand out was our server, Natalie. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time. You can tell she genuinely cares about giving great service, and it made the whole meal even better. Heard the Temecula got a new seafood boil and had to try! We went on a Friday night around 7 and were sat down right away. It's super clean here and the area is kept clean. I ordered 1lb shrimp, 1lb crawfish, and .5lb Manila clams (the waitress said the Manila is more buttery than the white clams which I couldn't agree more!) As a self-proclaimed (and widely known!) seafood lover, I have to say Pier 88 did not disappoint. I ordered the Pier 88 Combo, and it was definitely generous enough to share between 2-3 people. My kids shared a pound of snow crab along with a fried shrimp basket, and they enjoyed every bite just as much as I did. The Pier 88 sauce, which mixes all the sauces together, was absolutely delicious--I couldn't resist dipping every single bite right back into it. It was my birthday and I have been wanting to try this place since it opened, so this seemed like a wonderful opportunity to try something local. We have been to lots of places similar to this but never local before as we tend to veer towards the infamous Boiling Crab establishments. The ambiance is an open concept, wooden tables with the plastic tablecloths on top (ready for a mess). We loved that there were lots of tables and no waiting involved. We arrived around 6:30 pm. Pier 88 did NOT disappoint! We had a lovely server named Natalie who was very chill and helped us with the menu. We ended up getting the Seafood Combo special which was about $108 and had a little bit of everything. I figured it would give us a chance to see what we preferred. Lobster tail, crab, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, clams and your potato, corn and eggs. We ordered the 88 sauce mild as we do have two young kids with us. I can't say if spicy is great or not but the sauce was sooo GOOOOD! I have to say that if you drown everything in the sauce halfway through the meal it might start to get overwhelming. There is a lot to the sauce. I totally appreciated the Vietnamese gesture of lemons and salt and pepper combo. This is a wonderful clean lemony sauce for seafood if you want something lighter. The staff sang to me and I receive a cheesecake for my birthday. The cheesecake is actually quite delicious. It didn't have that heavy feeling that some cheesecakes can have. read more

The shrimp looked dark, and the mussels were already tough and rubbery. The clams were completely separated from their shells--I basically just ended up with empty shells. I really didnt like the pier 88 I tried at other places but this one is very decent. I originally came to get a cajun salad, but I saw that a half pound of headless shrimp was only 12$ and I can get a half salad for 6$. The salad was 14.50$ so for a few more bucks id rather just get a salad and more shrimp! This time, there was more flavor than the vegas location! However, I just feel it's missing that cajun texture. This boil is very watery and oily. I asked for extra hot, but its more like extra mild. I suppose I have spice tolerance thats insane! Lol The service is good enough and very friendly. I love seeing people smile and having a good attitude. That's always enjoyable to be around! Came here with my husband because on their website it states their sauces & seasonings are 100% gluten free. I called ahead and the host confirmed it and also confirmed that their fried food was NOT gluten free. We came in to get seafood boil, ordered and were preparing for our meal to come. Another lady (I'm assuming one of the chefs from the back) came out to let us know the seasonings and sauces are in fact NOT gluten free. This was super confusing because the host and the website both state that the seafood boil sauces/seasonings are 100% gluten free, but now one of the kitchen staff is coming and say it's not? I really appreciate her being so quick with letting us know but this was very confusing and false advertising. Our server was also very nice, but even she admitted that she was confused because she didn't think the seasonings/sauces had gluten either. Very disappointing cause it seems there's some confusion on what exact ingredients are being used to serve the food. Very unsafe for those with a severe allergy like celiac or anaphylactic gluten allergies. Will not be returning or recommending to others until they can solidify what ingredients are truly being used and all their staff are aware. I arrived at 9:05 PM for a party of two and was told the kitchen was already closed, even though I've come around the same time plenty of times before and never had service denied, keep in mind they close at 10pm... Either way, he was indecorous. Then a female enployee came over to take our food order and finished off our service. She was friendly and on top of the customer service chain. Sorry i did not get her name. It was our first time visiting this restaurant. It was clean and spacous. The restroom, not so much. It just needs someone to pay attention to it. The staff uses paper products. Paper cups, paper plates, plastic spoons etc. I am not use to going into a restaurant that uses paper plates and plastic utensils. I refuse to sugar coat. It was okay. I had to try this new spot to satisfy my love of all things crab boil. We arrived soon after opening but it filled up pretty quickly. The atmosphere is so cute and kitchsy, very over the top pier decor. They have some great lunch specials so decided we would each get our own shrimp boil and shared a poboy sandwich and fries. Although I think they may have switched our bags (my date ordered mild spice, I ordered no spice) they were both good. We actually hadn't even realized we possibly had the wrong bags until my last couple bites when I decided to try his and realized that mine definitely had more spice than his. It wasn't an issue because the mild spice level was very low intensity. The poboy was also really good, I loved that the bread was toasted garlic bread. I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of the sandwich before we dug in because we're fattys. We ate the entire sandwich but I still had some fries and several shrimp that I took home. First visit to this seafood boil place and we were really excited because there really isn't any good seafood boil places in the area. Very spacious with lots of seating inside and the workers are very friendly and attentive, they answered all questions we had and were very nice. We ordered the popcorn crawfish and it was super hot and fresh! Came with a tangy type dipping sauce which was okay, but the fried crawfish was delicious, I recommend it. I ordered the low country boil and it was good, the shrimps were cleaned well, the sauce was okay (88 sauce). I just felt like there wasn't enough food in the bag for the price. We also ordered the King special which came with a decent amount of food, but it still wasn't enough for the price. They gave us a bib and I had gloves folded inside, which was nice because you didn't have to ask for them. They just came together as a set. Plenty of lemon with salt and pepper packets for dipping. The sausages are a combination of beef and pork so FYI, if you don't eat pork. Also the spice levels are not very spicy. They do military discount here which was nice. Overall, this place is 4 1/2 stars, but I decided to round up since we can't give half stars on yelp. I think we'll be back pretty soon. read more
