Awww! We made to fish market. We are a family of 4. Fish market is crowded and active. Our waitress is Summer! Thank you girl, you have served us well. And, the owner is super sweet and chatty today. It's this crazy weather, sunny now threatening snow. But, we came for this good food. For starters, we had the basket of hush puppies and fried mushrooms. We are unanimous! Hush puppies are great, mushrooms not fried long enough. They are not your best. Entrees are a couple of catfish plates, both fried hard with extra seasonings one with Greek potatoes and green beans. The other one with fried okra and Greek potatoes. One stuffed grilled snapper with cabbage and Greek potatoes. DELISH!!! One pick 2 shrimp dinner with Peel and eat and popcorn shrimp with baked potato, green beans and a side of gumbo to go. Whew we full. To Go, Pooh Bear got the whole grill snapper with asparagus and Alfredo pasta and a side of fried green tomatoes. Mommy got popcorn shrimp dinner with Greek potatoes and green beans. Yay! Some of the freshest oysters I have had in the Metro. Greek salad was tasty with plenty of lump grab. The hush puppies are delicious. We sat at the bar Precious did an excellent job with menu suggestions and the overall experience was fantastic. Plenty of TV's at the bar tons of indoor and outdoor seating. The food and the service. However, take a wrap in with you because it's always cold in there if you're dining in. It's still worth it.

It has been a while since I've visited this particular location. Came here for a bridal shower and everything was excellent from the food to the service. Our waiters were great and took orders and had our food out in good time. We had the room in the back and it was plenty of room for us. I had the whole red snapper grilled and it was the size of the plate! So much food! It had Cajun spices and was cooked perfectly. Great outing for lunch or dinner. read more

This visit was a hit! I absolutely loved my food and the great service received from Jackie and Andrea at the bar! Sitting at the bar was perfect since the restaurant in general was very crowded on a Friday night. The bar seating is very spacious with lots of TVs. It had been a very long time since my last time here so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleased. I ordered 1/2 dozen of raw oysters ; which were delicious!!! I also had a side of fried okra. Fried hard as I requested. Everything was so good & fresh. This location is smaller than other locations. I actually prefer this location overall. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday. We were seated quickly, and our waitress, Precious, was wonderful! She was friendly, knowledgeable, and kept our glasses full! I ordered the fish tacos. You have the choice of grilled or fried fish. (I chose grilled). It comes with steamed brown rice and a spicy sauce. I also snagged some of my husband's Greek feta slaw, which was absolutely phenomenal! A truly delicious meal. My husband went for the fried catfish with French fries and Greek slaw. All that fried food is not really my cup of tea, but he enjoyed it said it was good. We had previously eaten at the Fish Market in Southside, but this was our first time at the Hoover location. My husband ordered the oyster poboy. The oysters were overcooked and the bread was stale. I ordered shrimp scampi and the sauce was so peppery that my mouth is still burning from it. The waiter was fine at first, bringing drinks and taking our order, delivered my husband his meal and then brought butter I requested for my bread. Never asked how the meal was until he brought the check! I told him the meal was not good and why. Eventually, they took my entree off because I hadn't eaten the shrimp. Such a shame! Always consistent! We frequent the 280 and Hoover locations and have never been disappointed. A great place to take out of town guests because of their broad menu. Another thing that's consistent is me getting the Greek slaw as a side no matter the entree. An absolute must try if you like feta. I got the snapper Reuben this time and the bottom piece of bread was terribly soggy. Not a huge deal, but I wish I would've gotten my regular of vodka pasta + chicken or shrimp instead. We certainly made the right choice for lunch today. We both craved seafood, so we came to the Fish Market Restaurant & Oyster Bar in Hoover. I highly recommend it. My yellow fin tuna steak was delicious as was the salmon my wife ordered . The Greek slaw that she ordered as a side was also delicious. It's made with a Greek salad dressing (vinegar based) and feta. Real good. And, the food is affordable. We are for $20 plus tip. This place is spotless, servers are exceptional and the food superb. I felt like I was entering a country club with all the pretty people my age! I am a foodie and review everywhere we eat out of town. This place was never on my radar - outside doesn't match the inside! But so glad I was introduced by my friends! We had the crab cake app which was full of crab and the dill sauce was amazing. The sweet tea is best in the city. I had the Blackened Snapper with a side salad. Ranch was 4/10. Snapper was a little too blackened for me, but the fish quality was amazing, as usual. My husband got the Greek Island Snapper. The fish itself was delectable but I learned I am not a fan of Greek style fish. He got the roasted potatos and green beans. Those two things could've been seasoned more to be honest. I grew up on the Gulf Coast Destin, Biloxi, etc. Have had many fine meals at the Fish Market near University hospital, both the current location and the old smaller location. I have always previously been please. Yesterday, the redfish came out cold and tough. We had other commitments, so I didn't fuss. I'm not a chef, but I know if fish is overcooked or reheated it becomes tough. Sadden by the experience. read more

This place is awful. Ordered the grill platter with Grouper and they brought out Tilapia. Yea uh no. I'm from Destin and know what the hell grouper is. So he said oh I'm sorry that must be the "flounder". No, it's freaking tilapia, trash fish. So he said I'll get you the grouper. So I didn't eat anything and left the plate there. So he brings out a small saucer plate of "grouper". And not having eaten anything else everything was cold. I thought he was gonna bring out a whole new plate. This place is absolutely ridiculous. They used to have takeout meals the same price as eating in meals and a lower price at lunch than at dinner time (just like eating in). Now if you do a take out, the prices are the dinner price no matter what the time of day it is! This will severely impact the number of takeouts from me and my family! read more

My parents love this place. They like anything that has to do with fish or seafood. I like it here too. I love the round tables and the proximity to the galleria and it's right off the interstate. Food is always high quality and the prices are fair. Service is always impeccable and friendly. They will fix any problem right away. We usually get two of the large fried platters and that always feeds 4 of us if we get some appetizers on the side. I hope they never go out of business. read more

Unfortunately we've been here 3 times and have been disappointed each time. This last time we waited over 10 minutes after being seated for a server... who never came. We decided to get up and walk out to go to another restaurant for dinner. I absolutely understand that staffing shortages have effected the whole industry and try to be patient (even when hungry). But if the table is going to be seated, then we should at least get a 'hello' or some water within the first few minutes and if the server is too, then a manager should step in to support them and the customers. I also want to note that it wasn't busy (there wasn't a wait and plenty of open tables yet to be seated). read more

I have dined here frequently, all great experiences. This time was very disappointing. The staff were all very friendly. The food was not good at all. I ordered fried oysters ( tasted weird, like fried on the outside but raw and quishy in the middle), cabbage ( meh.. partly warmed and partly cold), and Greek potatoes ( mushy, vinegar taste). My friend ordered grilled flounder ( good but over seasoned), cabbage and broccoli. I expressed my disappointment with the server. She said she couldn't do anything so she sent the manager over. He immediately expressed his apology and asked if I wanted a substitute. Reluctantly I ordered broccoli. It was mushy. I showed the server. It was like mashed potatoes. The next manager came over. Having eaten here several times I knew this was not typical of this place. I surmised it had to be a new person in the kitchen. It turns out, that was the case. New and not following their recipe I guess. We appreciate that the server and the managers listened. I believe how will they know if diners don't share. It could affect them more unknowingly. We weren't complaining, nor looking for a comp meal, just wanted them to know. They were appreciative. I would still recommend this restaurant and it's food. My partner Mark insisted we dine here for dinner last night. He dined here for years on visits to his mothers house. Parking was a challenge on a Friday night. Service was friendly the duration of our visit. We were seated at a clean and spacious high top table for two. We started with a dozen raw Wellfleet oysters. They were fresh plump and delicious. The saltine crackers paired with the oysters with a dollop of the cocktail sauce was heavenly! Cocktails and wine were priced typical and selection was good. My salad was the large Greek and I added the six piece shrimp that were grilled with a Cajun seasoning. The salad was large and delicious paired with shrimp. Mark's Greek style snapper with white wine sauce over rice was amazing!!! The wine sauce was incredible!! The hush puppies were hot and delicious! I came here with low expectations ( sorry I am kind of snobby) but I was wowed by the quality food and service!! Love this place!! read more
