AMAZING STAY. This resort was so affordable. 6 pools, a shuttle directly to old town/duval street that runs every hour, bike rentals, yoga classes, Santa!? What else could you need. We have no complaints. Our room was very clean, no issues with plumbing at all. One minor downside was we could not control the thermostat on our own, so there were times of uncomfortable temps. Overall we had an okay time here, but it is certainly not a 4-star hotel, and a large part of us having a decent time was not expecting too much. If you are, avoid this place. Customer service: The staff at check-in are not friendly. The concierge in the goofy suits is brusk and unapproachable. The staff at the restaurant have 18% gratuity built in and so service is wildly slow. I cannot stress enough how slow. And they're never busy so there's no excuse. We were also never greeted at the restaurant and it felt like the guests were always imposing on them. The pool servers (of which there is 1 a day for 6 pools) are very friendly but you will wait up to an hour to get your drinks and that's if she ever comes by in the first place, because they're understaffed. I called to ask if the server would be coming by and no one of the four people I spoke to was friendly or apologetic despite my asking very delicately. Location: The actual hotel location is lovely -- but it's not Key West. It's on Stock Island, and you'll be reliant on the hotel's food and hourly shuttle into town unless you have a car or plan to Uber. The drive into town is 20 mins. It's not convenient if you're looking for a true Key West experience. You can bike to town on their free bikes but not all lanes are protected bike lanes and it's a long 30 min ride -- bikes are only available until 4. Rooms: The "ocean view" rooms face a marina. This is technically the ocean, sure, but your view will be solely of boats. I didn't mind, but it's Key West and ocean should mean ocean. The beds are okay, but not super comfortable. Our room had a musty/moldy smell on arrival. There were a few hairs in the bathroom, and some of the bathroom fixtures are broken or outdated. Not terrible, but again this isn't 4-star. Also, we asked for a top floor room and they said they'd accomodate, then ignored that request. Noise: The music playing all the time from the pool is absolutely wretched. You'll love it if you love Jack Johnson and those who wish they were Jack Johnson. The room noise depends on your neighbors. The chairs on the balconies are extremely loud when moved, as are drunk people stomping in the room above you. Generally we slept well despite rude neighbors. Charges: We were billed for someone else's charges on our room bill and were not given an immediate apology nor were we immediately believed. I think the person who helped us meant well but I don't believe they should be in a customer service position, as they were not personable any time we interfaced with them. Pools: The many pools are a great feature and we had a nice time. There are tons of children and teens. The kids seemed to love it here and there were truly so many. Guests were overall well behaved as were their kids. The pools did look a little murky like perhaps they need a filter cleaning though. You should get sparkly water at a 4-star resort. Texts: You'll get texts from the staff randomly about how your stay is, but we kept also getting texts for the wrong people, like one asking us to move our vehicle (we didn't bring one) and one asking to come in without permission to fix our AC and not waiting for consent in order to enter. In conclusion, I feel this hotel is overpriced for what it is, and staff and management should be reminded that customers come first and so does customer satisfaction. This hotel would benefit from better, more attentive management and a better staffing manager who understands intuitively what 4-star service looks like. Again, our relative enjoyment of the place was because we didn't expect much or ask for much. Most people should and will. read more

We came here for our annual girls trip, from Los Angeles. We know a thing or two about hospitality. First the rooms, While the rooms are good, the bed frames are an issue. They are wood and if you're not extra careful, you will leave with bruises. Which isn't that big of a deal. However, there is a tall piece of wood that they put in front of the sliding doors to the balcony that is very dangerous and I'm shocked we didn't break a toe or a few... think it's there to block the water from coming in but y'all need to do something better and less dangerous. Bathrooms are a bit dingy and could use a good scrubbing. Hospitality is lacking big time. We are paying over $700 a night we expect the service to represent that. Regardless of 18%/20% gratuity is included or not. Perhaps don't impose that, and your staff will want to earn their tips. I paid for someone (whom I won't name) to bring our bags up to our room since we got in early and couldn't check in. By the time we got back later that evening-10pm, our bags were left outside and we were told there was no one to take them to our room. And the front desk guy pretty much shrugged his shoulders. Not ok. We did get the night manager to do it but we shouldn't have had to do that. The front desk staff are lacking in service. Johnnie the concierge is amazing and the best thing about the hotel. He is knowledgeable and he knows the definition of hospitality. The rest of the hotel staff should take a lesson from him. The hotel isn't just a 20 min walk to Duval street. Or a bike ride. Which we were told when booking the hotel. The food and drinks are ok, but if you eat where the locals eat-you will be happy! We ate at El Mocho a few times and so happy we did. Get the Empanadas!They're amazing! You can ride your bike there no problem! Hogfish is a great local place as well and the service at both are very good! Jeff the shuttle driver is impatient and rude. We were 1 min late (our friends asked him to wait) and he had zero issue with reprimanding us in front of everyone. He gets there early and leaves at the time we are told to get on the shuttle. While other shuttles waited a few minutes after to make sure no one else needed to get on. It would be nice especially if it's the last shuttle at night if you gave a grace period.Especially at night for females!! Would go back to Key West but will stay elsewhere for the money and the lack of good hospitality. Hotel is OK but staff and management are the worst I've seen. They do charges at credit card they have on file without authorization and when asked the just yell at you. It's too bad that there are 3 employees there that are the nicest. The concierge, one of the attendants at the restaurant and one of the security guards. Stayed for 3 nights. When we arrived at 4:15pm on Monday, our room was not ready. I specifically asked for a marina view when I booked and got an email confirmation as well that the reservation was noted. We were out in building 4, the only building that didn't have a marina view and no pool. The girls up front did their best to accommodate and offered a 2 queen suite with the requested view. We said no at first but being from the desert, I really wanted that marina view. We went back in and they found us a room. Not sure how one wasn't ready 5 minutes prior, but we got our king suite with marina view. Our room was ok... the drapes were gross with brown spots all over them, the sheer one at the door was ripped, the door to balcony was very difficult to lock/unlock, the tub looked like a rabid wolverine tried to claw its way out. Our bed was comfortable which was great after long days at Tortugas and downtown Key West. There was a wine fridge in the bar area and we didn't find the actual fridge or know it was there until our last day. We were given a coupon for free key lime pie or drink, but we aren't drinkers. Probably the worst key lime pie I had on the trip and I'm a sugaraholic and will eat about any kind of sugar. I tossed it. We never ate at the restaurant due to that awful pie and we loved key lime pie everywhere else. The only amenity we used was the shuttle down to Key West once, but didn't use any other amenities. I wish I could give it a better rating, but for over $400/night, I left disappointed. I will saw the sunset from our balcony was amazing, so I'm glad they found us a room where we could see it. Also, the room we booked was more expensive than the one I ended up getting. They did not adjust the price for my room not being ready and me taking the lesser priced room. read more

So funny story, I actually meant to book us at the Casa Marina Resort in Key West and somehow ended up booking here. The place is definitely upscale and pretty, but there's no such thing really as ocean view in my opinion. Our ocean view king suite was mostly a marina view with the ocean peeking through. It was still a gorgeous view, but not what I was expecting. Our check-in experiece was perfect with a friendly staff person and they even gave us our room early (11:30am) instead of making us wait until 4pm. (But later we realized there was an oversight...) But there were a few minor glitches during our stay, which while not such a big deal in and of themselves, were annoying at this price point. The AC cannot be controlled from your room so if you're not happy with the temperature they preset, engineering has to come adjust it. Also, the screen for the AC stays lit up all night like a beacon, which if you're a light sleeper like me, will definitely keep you up at night. Also, we paid for late check-out in advance, but still ended up locked out of our room at 11am. Evidently the check-in person neglected to tell us you have to get updated keys because they can't preprogram your keys for a different check out time. Also, it was evident the resort was extremely short staffed, which considering it was the weekend before 4th of July, did not bode well for anyone staying for longer than the one night we spent. They have 6 pools, 3 of which tend to be quieter and 3 which tend to be rowdier. The pool closest to us (quiet) was often out of towels and water and the wait at the bar was ridiculous. The poolside service was excellent if slow, due to understaffing at the hotel. The food served poolside and the breakfast we had at the restaurant on site was excellent. Both evidenced high quality ingredients and excellent preparation. I had a chicken ceasar wrap for lunch and the breakfast burrito and both were delicious. My wife had a tuna poke bowl and the avocado toast, which she also enjoyed. The coffee was mediocre but then again I'm a bit of a coffee snob so take that into consideration. Their fiery margaritas will set your mouth on fire yet leave you feeling no pain. Highly recommend those! We inquired about taking a sunset cruise at the Tiki Hut onsite which is where you can book the resort activities. They tried to sell us a $500 private cruise w/ Captain TJ and stayed mum about the $90 per person one with Billy's Barefoot Cruises, which actually contracts with the hotel. We were not persuaded. Yes, there are iguanas all over the place as well as roosters and chickens. The fowl are protected by law in Key West, so if you mind them, you should probably vacation in the lower or middle keys instead. I don't mind the iguanas and they're actually quite pretty and amazing at camouflage. (FYI this resort is actually on Stock Island, which is 2 miles north of Key West and not in Key West proper.) Overall, the resort is not worth what they're charging. There're plenty of upscale choices in the area if you've the money to spend. Go elsewhere. read more

From the moment that you drive through the gates, you arrive upon a beautiful front porch with rocking chairs, just beyond the front doors were greeted by the most wonderful staff ever. Riana was there to check us in, and was super friendly and was extremely informative about the resort, where our room was located, hours for pool and restaurant. We were traveling with our dog Riley who is 9 and had cancer and Riana was so sweet and kind to him and even gave him a complementary water bowl that attached to his leash, and some cute little snacks that were all wrapped up in a little gift bag. Once we were checked in at the front desk, Sam was so helpful and carried all of our bags into the room, make sure we had everything we needed for our stay and was a super pleasant young man and extremely helpful. He made two trips out to the car, and did it all with a smile and amazing attitude. The first night there, we had dinner at the Yellow Fin restaurant located on-site and decided to sit at the bar. John was really friendly and welcoming. We had the pleasure of meeting Cindy as well the restaurant manager and she had some elegant selections of wine to enjoy while having dinner and then suggested a nice bottle of champagne for later on in the evening. We brought it back to our room and enjoyed it on the beautiful porch, while watching all of the boats pulling in for the evening. Throughout our stay, we had booked two tours through Tanyo at the concierge's desk. He was super helpful and friendly and we enjoyed all of our excursions. Especially the dolphin safari. It was amazing and I will write a separate review for that trip only because it truly deserves it own review !!! It was amazing. Any questions that we had were answered by Stephanie King the front desk supervisor, no matter what time of day she had a smile on her face, and was willing to help along with the super helpful staff of Shundell, Kaye, Omar and Sandi. Every single person so we encountered while on our stay at the property was just so friendly, welcoming, and made us feel very comfortable and we will absolutely be returning. Also, I have to point out that the rooms were well appointed, tastefully decorated and very modern but yet with a beach vibe. The beds were super comfortable, the bathrooms are extremely large, and the property was very, very peaceful. We enjoyed swimming in the pools and there are six of them. They have hammock swings on site, comfortable lounge chairs and having a full-service restaurant on site was such a plus. It gives you the flexibility of staying on the property if you wish and not worrying about food, drinks, etc. If you're looking for a beautiful place to stay, relax and unwind Ocean Edge Key West Resort and Marina is the place to go. We loved that it was close enough to get to downtown Keywest, but also it enabled us to get out of the hustle and bustle when needed. They also have golf carts on site that you can rent to go downtown. And if you want to stay back and chill in the evenings it was just so peaceful and quiet, and we also loved that there was Security on site and it's gated. Super happy with our choice to stay here. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the staff were super friendly and helpful, the pool and facilities were fantastic, and the extras available as part of the resort fee are really a great part of staying here. The shuttle running downtown every hour is great for planning Duval street activities while ensuring rides to and returning back to the resort. We also took part in mulitple activities offerred by the hotel at extra cost, Andrew was great for the Kayaking tour and Anela did a wonderful job with the intro to paddle board course we took; both were very personable, friendly, knowledgable, and genuine. Overall, this resort was good value for the money and the staff made it even more memorable, especially folks like Anela and Andrew will see us returning in the future. read more

Upon completing the online reservation, we called the front desk and requested a room on the upper floor. Upon arrival, we were surprised to learn we would stay in a room on the first floor instead. We were told there was no record of our request (!?!). During checkout, our final bill was way higher than the expected cost (charges) listed on the website. When we pointed out the discrepancy, the answer was that this was due to various fees, including the Destination Fee (!?), Resort Fee (!?), and Parking Fee (!?). According to the explanation offered by the front desk clerk, these extra fees were introduced by a "third party" and listed somewhere in a "small font." That is a typical example of the outrageous practice of Hidden 'Junk' Fees, which this resort does not hesitate to practice. Put differently, it is simply bad business practice and a classic ripoff. While this is not a high end hotel and the prices reflect that , I would expect better service after my Airpods were stolen and I reported it to five different staff members . Not one of which called me back or followed up. We checked out Friday May 17, 2024 and my pods were missing , after tracking them when I got home they pinged back at the hotel. They have bounced back and forth from a Key West address to the Oceans Edge daily. I sent the ping locations to staff members and no one attempted to get my property back Apple has very precise location pings and I have watched my pods move around the hotel for days. Clearly it is not a concern that a dishonest employee is using what belonged to a guest . I am really disappointed and this has soured our entire visit read more

A beautiful place away from the super busy downtown of Key West. Restaurant is excellent as is the coffee at the coffee shop! Staff were all very friendly and courteous. The marina is a beautiful backdrop sitting out on the balcony. It's a peaceful and relaxing place to come for a visit. My only complaint- the super small/lackluster fitness center. It should be 5X as big as it is. Only 5 people maximum can fit in this cramped gym at one time and that is pushing it. 2 bikes, 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical and 5 sets of dumbbells do not suffice for a gym on this kind of property. We had a king suite room which was just as described - It was beautiful and very clean. The pools and marina are gorgeous too! The shuttle is fantastic and easy to use. We chose not to eat at the resort because it did look a little pricey for what you got, but there are SO many places to eat in Key West so why complain? Just hop on the shuttle and go find a cute place to eat! If you're thinking of trying this resort please ignore the negative people, they probably just have bad attitudes about everything in life :-) We will definitely be back! read more

Recently stayed at this resort. Great property, nice rooms, good amenities. However, If you leave anything behind after check out, good luck with getting it back! I've wasted more time calling to 1) confirmed who has my valuable items, 2) get someone to contact me back, and 3) arrange for my valuables to be shipped to me. I still have not gotten anyone to help me at this point. I don't know if I'll even get this items back, which are worth more than my stay there. The food was absolutely delicious! The pools are heated so you can swim at hight as well as the day. Nice breeze coming off of the ocean makes it comfortable sitting outside to enjoy dinner. Very close to town but far enough away that it's a quiet escape from the every day town life. I would absolutely stay here again. Days by the pool were very relaxing. Poolside service is available and also the bar & restaurant is right there to get take out as well. All the rooms face the marina/ocean so the views are amazing. The property is very beautiful however I will NEVER stay here again. First the music is blaring until 10pm at night with people screaming at the pool. The bathroom doesn't have a lock on the door which seems strange. The first night we went to eat at the restaurant and the staff took forever to bring our food. And when my son spilled his drink no one attempted to help us. When we revived the bill we noticed that they automatically add an 18% gratuity which explains why the service was so poor. read more

It was as nice a suite as we ever enjoyed during our decades of upscale travel. The views of the harbor and the six pools were memorable. The shuttle to downtown was terrific. Me and my sisters all made the trek to KW on the ferry (fun times). We checked into OER and arrived at our room only to find the smell very off-putting and the metal door jam was dragging across the tile floor. There was a worker outside our room, so I mentioned this to him about the smell and door jam, he apologized and said he'll be right back, he was getting us a different room. After two rooms, the third was a charm. I was especially pleased how this young gentlemen and the front management handled the situation. After this, everything was magical here! We had a corner suite overlooking the boat docks. It's very peaceful looking over your balcony. There was a small refrigerator in the room which was very convenient. There is water in the room where the ice machine was. Also, when you're at one of the many pools, there are water jugs with cups. If the jug empties out, there is always someone walking around that you can let them know and they'll fill it up for you. We had breakfast in their beautiful restaurant with outdoor seating, everyone really enjoyed what they had to offer. Every single employee at this resort was so very friendly and helpful. We also utilized the free fun water sports they offered with no problems, they are like 'island people' no rush, everything is 'hang-loose.' We rented the Golf Cart from this resort as well and what a hoot that was!! Driving down the streets over the bridge to KW was a riot! We had a 6 passenger cart and it's hilarious because the blinkers don't seem to turn off when you turn because the turns are too gentle, so you end up riding around with your blinker on half the time. No one ever seemed to care. The people that rent the golf-carts were SO very nice!! We will do this every single time we come here. Oh, and I can't forget the shuttle drivers, they were so very helpful and polite, they'll go out of their way to please you (don't forget to tip them!)
