I had shock absorbers front and rear installed here that I purchased on my own. left vehicle with shop in morning. Technician called me to say that the rear shocks were installed but that he was unsure how to proceed with front Shocks/Struts because he thought he would need some Compression tool that their shop didn't have. I knew this was not the case so I drove over to shop and showed technician a Youtube video showing front shock installation on this vehicle and that there was no spring needing compression in this installation. He was like " oh OK I can do this. Drove home to await their call. When I returned to shop bill for front and rear shock install Labor Only. Not for shocks or parts... $1100. !! Maybe a two hour job. Over $500 an hour ! because Technician ( apparently not a Mechanic ) did not know what he was doing. I would stay away from Oceanside Truck Repair unless you get a firm repair quote from the beginning. read more

I wish I read all the negative reviews about this shop before I took my rig to them! As a business owner myself I know how poorly leaving a bad Google Review affects business, so I never do so unless it is absolutely warranted. In this case it is absolutely warranted. I brought my 2003 International 3000 Series Bus into Oceanside Truck & RV Repair on August 14th, 2023. Nothing was wrong with the bus other than the cruise control not working and a few diag lights being on that were not affecting the bus operation in anyway. Having an appointment made 0 sense because my bus sat there for days until they even got the diag computer in there to assess. They charged me $4,200 to literally do nothing. I'm sure the parts they used were second class and after calling a few pro diesel mechanics in town it looks like they charged me 400-500% over what certain parts would cost. In terms of the ICP Sensor, Oil Cooler Seal Kit, and Brake Drums. The drums did not need to be replaced nor did the ICP sensor. The labor they charged me was also was over what should have taken to do these jobs. When I picked up the bus (Aug 21, 2023) the diag lights in question were still on, the cruise control was not functioning and my bus wreaked of cigarette smoke. There were multiple wiring clusters not appropriately placed back in wiring harnesses. There is a box on the dash that has an access point to wiring that was broken and hanging off, because someone who looked at the wiring cluster must have tried to force it off. This was not broken before I dropped my bus off. The carelessness, lack of quality and lack of professionalism for this price is appalling and as a result I will be reporting this business to the BBB. When I spoke to Emily about this she merely said "Well, sir it was working for us." And this was just not true. I drove the bus off the lot and the cruise control still did not work immediately upon getting on the highway. I called her immediately when I left the shop! I had to drive back a day later (another 41mins and expensive diesel both ways in my large bus, on my dime of course) and drop it back off. When I expressed that I was extremely dissatisfied with their service, Emily acted like they would get to it when they could. I expressed that I wasn't leaving until it was fixed and that I'm sticking around. Mike plugged his computer in and realized that whoever redid my rear wheels at their shop did not install the abs sensor correctly and it was pulling a faulty code (again horrible quality of work). They had to redo that and we took the bus on another test drive with his computer plugged in. He demonstrated the cruise control that 'appeared' to work on the drive. I drove off their lot after this and immediately upon getting on the highway between 35-75mph the cruise control again did not function and did not engaged. They charged me $145 for a dismal overall inspection that literally consisted of a few sentences. They charged me $72 TWICE, for plugging in two diag machines and running a literally 30sec scan.... you read that right....they charged me twice. Once for a Cruise Control scan and once for a Transmission scan. Even as these are different scanners this is insane. This work was and is no where near $4,200 in value. I wish I would have read the bad reviews sooner because many people have the same horrible experience with these folks. Do not bring your hard earned money here. I feel manipulated and stole from and this should literally be illegal. They didn't fix any of the things I brought my bus in for and made up a bunch of stories about stuff that didn't need to be fixed. I believe in the genuine goodness of people, but unfortunately in this state people will prioritize profit and greed in many cases. Stay away and get a second or third opinion before you let them charge you anything. read more

I have spent at least $10000 here. I have been trying to have a simple job done on my truck for 1 1/2 weeks now. They don't answer and it only goes to voicemail. I have left 3-4 messages starting last week and can't get a response. I'm very confused. Yelp says they are open and so does voicemail. Did I do something to offend them so they won't call me back. Took my 2005 chevy Duramax here, they were kind and courteous but diagnosed my truck on a hunch from one of the mechanics there. I was having problems with engine codes and going into limp mode, they said the cat was plugged so they took it to a muffler shop they are affiliated with somehow and had it replaced with a supposedly good used cat and charged me $650. Told me it was good to go so I picked it up and test drove it, it did the same thing but worst and I barely got it back to their shop. They finally did what they should've done in the first place, open the hood and check things and or run diagnostics. They found a pin hole leak on the upper radiator hose where it was rubbing on the end of the brake booster and the water got in the wiring harness connectors where the Banks power programmer plugs in. So they disconnected the programmer and replaced radiator hose. Everything is fine now. They probably felt bad about charging me for replacing the cat which wasn't the problem so they didn't charge for the hose. I really don't think they learned a lesson with this experience because they still got money for their mistake. Wouldn't recommend my friends to go here read more

Brought in a ford diesel I wanted to buy for look over/inspection.. The mechanic was very friendly and said it would cost $100. I came back to pick it up and I'm in the office to pay, "that'll be $240". I told him the mechanic said $100!? He didn't care. Brought my truck in complaining about loss of power when they read the codes it came up with all different things I brought in a couple of glow plugs they changed one charge me $250 try to reach him for a couple of weeks finally had to physically go in there because my engine light came on the next time I started it they told me to be another $40 for them to see what was wrong with it they checked it and said it was a glow plug and would be another $250 for them to replace that that one but he said don't worry you won't break down cuz you knew I was going on a trip broke down cost me $250 to get it fixed the guy told me whoever worked on it must be a YouTube mechanic because with loss of power the first thing he should have checked was fuel and it was two filters that were causing the problems not the glow plugs before Tom passed away I highly recommended this place now I would never bring a truck back there I do not recommend this place in fact I'll be bringing them to small claims for my $250 read more

On Oct 24th 2018 I took my truck to Oceanside truck service for a fuel leak on the drivers side rear fuel injector. On Monday the 29th of Oct I received a voicemail from Emily that the truck was fixed and ready for pickup. I called her back asking what the problem was and the charges. She stated a fuel hose was cracked and the amount due was $170.00O. On the 30th I went to pick up the vehicle and asked to speak with Mike Whitaker, shop manager. I asked him what the problem was with the fuel leak. Mike stated a rubber fuel hose was cracked and replaced. I asked him why the bill was so high to replace a 4" piece of hose. Mike stated it was 1.5 hours of labor plus the cost of the hose. I felt this seemed an excessive amount of time to replace this. One hour or less would seem more appropriate for the job. After pleading my case the job not only should have taken an hour to fix they also should have called me with an estimate before moving forward with the repair. Mike refused to budge on the bill numerous times but finally agreed to the 1 hour of labor and told me to never come back. Please be wary of this repair shop they never answer the phone, it is difficult to get your calls returned. If you need to get ahold of them you practically have to drive there. They do good work but it sure isn't worth the hassle. read more

Check engine light on Duramax. Charged me a little more than I would have thought for clearing codes and unplugging chip, but a few days later I still had issues and they figured out it was not the chip/programmer. They gave my truck immediate attention due to a business trip the next day and then after I left they called me when they spotted a fuel leak where truck was parked at shop. Awesome, honest shop with really nice people. I would have given a five star rating, but the job wasn't finished perfect the first time. If the truck isn't finished in time, they will deliver it to my wife to help me with my business trip. I will take my truck back to them for sure! read more

Well how do I start. My truck was taken in by a friend for some repairs. My truck sat there for 4 months when I was getting the run around by my friend that they were waiting on parts. All I wanted was one of those friend hook ups and I would of paid for it. So I took it up on my own to go check out the situation. So I see my truck parked in the back. I didn't have the money to repair it so I asked them to put it back together and I would pick it up. Well 2 months later I find a mechanic that would give me the chance to pay in payments and while checking it out he noticed parts missing like my intake manifold, my EGR cooler which was a bulletproof brand and also missing were a couple of sensors. First this company claimed they never took it off but all of a sudden they gave me back the intake nice and sandblasted and cleaned " what a coincidence " right. So just to let you know this company is stealing parts off cars while repairing them. They must be taking off parts for their own vehicles. I have BAR OF AUTOMOTIVE looking into it as well.
