I have gotten my eyebrows done a thousand times at different places, but no one could clean them up the way I really wanted them too.. I had an appointment with Stephanie today. I was hesitant to go since there were no reviews, but glad I did! I went for a Brazilian and ended up also getting my eyebrows done too. Stephanie was great. She made me very comfortable from the beginning. She was professional and friendly. Even though Viva la Vida has only been opened a few months, she said she has been doing this for several years at another salon in town. I believe her. She did a great job - as painless as a Brazilian can be and EXTREMELY clean. She also did my eye brows quick and painlessly and they look better than ever. Only con is that the salon is not what you're used to in Boston. It's a locally run place and the decor is such. I am used to stark white/sterile spa style places in Boston. But you're on the cape so this is what I expected. Brazilian and eyebrows took maybe 40-45 mins tops. I will def be going back to Stephanie in the future. read more

I needed a Brazilian wax ASAP. Living in NYC I'm used to one salon, but being at my parents house for the week, I was crunched for time. I was able to get an appointment right away with Stephanie. Upon arrival, I was greeted. There were little treats and coffee in the waiting area. Bonus!! She was finishing up with her previous client and took me at my scheduled appointment time. The waxing room was super clean. There was even a bathroom inside for you to cleanse before your wax :) Stephanie was super engaging and we chatted the whole time. It made the time fly. I love the fact that she uses hard wax it's way less pain in my opinion (if there were such thing as 'less pain' in this hair ripping process lol). My wax came out super clean - no complaints here. I stopped in today for an eyebrow waxing with Stephanie after reading all the positive reviews. She was super personable, somehow I told her my entire life story in 10 minutes, and she did an amazing job! Besides that, the wax she used was much gentler on my sensitive skin then places I've been to before. It significantly reduced the red/irritated skin I usually have after my brows are done and seemed less painful. I will definitely be back! read more

I came here for a Brazilian, my first time here, and Stephanie did a GREAT job! I'm 27 weeks pregnant, I had attempted to shave and was wildly unsuccessful, so she had an uneven nether region to work with but you wouldn't know from the results! This review is for cut only. Staff was friendly and salon was clean. The thing I hate most about moving to a new area is having to find a new hairstylist. My experience here reminds me why. I have long, straight hair and keep long layers with some light layers framing the face. I spent a long time growing out my hair and getting the layers right after having my hair above shoulder length with short layers for a long time. Thanks to my awesome previous stylist, even after 4 months, my cut still looked nice: I just needed a little length taken off and the ends cleaned up. I asked for 1.5-2 inches off and Susan took nearly 5. When she asked how it was and I responded "shorter than I was anticipating", she said "oh, but it's still long". I saw the hair lying on the floor, and I measured.....my hair was grazing my bra line and now sits just below my collarbone, hitting at the the awful spot I suffer through when growing my hair out, where there's just no way to make it lay nicely. To top it off I did not get "long layers": the short layers sit 4-6 inches higher then the length of my hair and are super chunky. She cut it wet, dried it, and tried to send me on my way without blending it at all. With such straight hair, you can see every scissor cut. I asked her to blend some of the front layers but really didn't want her touching more, so I left the rest. Now to wear my hair tied back for the next 6 months until it grows out and I'm feeling brave enough to try again. Definitely will not be back here. read more

I went to Viva La Vida on a recommendation from a salesperson in Falmouth -- basically a blind recommendation. But, I've been having awful problems with my hair and this person was insistent, so in I went. Rosa not only "fixed" all of my problems, I left with a gorgeous haircut, beautiful highlights, and a plan to keep my difficult hair in great shape and looking terrific. I think I was a pretty tough case, but Rosa was friendly and confident and worked with me to figure out what to do. I started going gray and coloring my hair at age 24 (I'm now 50+), and it had gotten into pretty rough condition. I'm sick of going for color every 3 weeks and want my grey to grow out and blend with my hair. But I walked in there with way-too-dark brown hair and white-grey roots. I walked out with a totally new look, but one that I'm totally comfortable with. Everyone likes it, even my kids (who would tell me)! I really can't say enough about Rosa and Viva La Vida. I've never had such a wonderful experience in a hair salon. It's her salon (with her awesome business partner), and she made it look lovely and it is impeccably clean. I've been to so many salons and this is by far the most professional and lovely place, with people to match. While I was there, one young woman came in and donated her long hair to Locks of Love and got an amazing shorter cut, and another couple of women got really good cuts as well. Someone came in for waxing and seemed happy, too. Just a great vibe. Everyone there is friendly and it just feels positive. Oh! The salon is in a little house on Davisville Rd, just around the corner from CVS -- you might not expect it to be this amazing, from the outside. Now, I'm like the woman who told me to go: I say, try it, it's a really excellent salon. read more

Adorable little salon with small esthetic room. Very clean! ... I get Brazilians on the regular and I left my last aesthetician because I was getting really bad ingrown hairs. thought I should give someone else a try. I am actually a licensed aesthetician myself so when it comes to waxing I am extremely picky. Nicole was brilliant. Quick and super sweet. She used hard wax and although it was painful there wasn't a hair left behind. seriously this was the best waxing experience I've ever had and I will be returning on the monthly :) read more

I am always nervous when going someplace new for a haircut, and I'm glad I took a chance on this place. I have long Asian hair and got 4 inches cut with long layers. Susan did a great job. She was quick, personable, and knew what she was doing. I also loved the prices as the shampoo, cut and dry was $35 and I left a $10 tip. The salon is small, but clean. Loved the experience, went in for a wash/cut/dry and loved it! Very cheap for the service, shampoo smelled amazing (not sure if some people care about that but I do lol), people were polite, happy, and knowledgeable! I almost always get a one length trim, very basic, but decided to get a bit more of an angle, my biggest request is that we keep as much length as absolutely possible, and she did just that! I am extremely pleased with my services today and will definitely be recommending to everyone I know!!! Worth every penny :) read more
