It wasn't a bad place. Plenty of space and games to offer its patrons. Big negative is that you have to walk through the corn hole game when you come in so heads up. Terrible placement of this feature. The beers aren't bad but they aren't jaw dropping either. There were plenty on tap and we tried a bunch of them. Alright, been here enough times to really get a good picture of this place and what they can offer. Atmosphere: Big open area inside with plenty of seating and direct view of the brewing equipment. Outside seating area is provided. Laid back and music is always pumping, so it's good for small and large crowds. Friendly and very casual. Quality: Good variety of styles and beer to choose from. Beers are mostly on point. Rather caters toward hop heads and big beer people, which, to me is great. Does have more sessionable beer on tap, so don't feel left out. Leans more toward experimental beer IMO, therefore, beer might be hit and miss, but mostly hits... Service: Rather large bar area, might be a wait when it's busy, but that's par for the course. Ocelot was the first stop on our beer adventure to NoVa but it was just okay. There was a huge indoor space which would be great for a crappy day, but it was gorgeous so we chose to sit outside. It was more limited seating outside but we found a spot and enjoyed the warm sun. We wished there was some music playing in the background though. The beers were also just meh. I liked two of the heavier stout/porters but otherwise wasn't too impressed. They do have a rotating food truck on site if you get hungry. read more

What a great place! We absolutely loved it here. The staff were super awesome and helpful. We got a flight and a few other beers. They have a great selection and something for everyone (even me, who does not usually like beer). The staff know their stuff, and seem more than happy to answer questions and make recommendations. The space itself is really cool, a very open-space feel with high ceilings. It's dog-friendly and very clean inside. During the summer they have food truck(s?) outside. Plenty of parking as well. First the beer!!! This brewery is hands down my favorite and best brewery around. I can't go a week without experiencing the amazing beer they come up with, especially Double IPA's. Then there's the staff, a crew of down to earth people. This staff is not stuck on the "High and Mighty, I know all about beer and you don't" attitude. Just a bunch of great guys and gals making sure you're always taken care of. What is there to eat, you say??? Well, they always have great food trucks on site and on certain days they have a BBQ vendor setup inside.. The space they have is pretty huge, the tables are large planks of wood put together with stools all around them, everyone just shares tables, great to spark up conversations with fellow enthusiasts. Pass! Night and day from other local breweries. The two bartenders were too busy socializing to help with beer choices- instead we were told the types were listed on the board. The atmosphere was not very welcoming. And the beer- TERRIBLE! There was two we could not tolerate at all. Most were generally the same type- IPA and light. Nothing dark, porter, stout, anything unique, etc. We couldn't get away from the same taste. I brought our growler but left without filling it- it's a rare time that I'd go to a brewery and leave without bringing beer home. We won't be back and with so many other brewery options in the area I don't think it's worth trying once. read more

This is my favorite brewery in Loudoun! It's a very relaxed place and the beer is always good. They usually have something for everyone here. We have been several times. Maybe Friday nights here aren't my thing, but this place is a total man cave. The first thing I experienced after opening the door was very loud music and then stepping in something sticky enough to leave a gummy residue that could be felt on multiple steps. I think this was my first visit to a brewery. I stopped in for a beer with my friend after eating a late lunch from the Poké-man truck. Interesting cavernous and hipster space they have going on. Not sure why, but I expected more beer options from a "brewery"--about 15 choices, half of them being IPAs, did not constitute a very diverse list to me. Charging money for "samples" is also pretty weird (never seen that before) and the location is just a pain in the ass to get to overall. The servers are nice and are probably well-informed, but they were a little unorganized in taking our orders (as in one guy asked me what I wanted, then left to go get it, then another came over and asked what I wanted. Ocelot has a lot of potential for the DC area beer scene and I'm looking forward to seeing their drafts on menu's throughout the area. The staff said they are going for West Coast/San Diego style beer options, which is evident on the menu. Really good double IPA's for those interested. One trend I noticed is that these all tend to be higher abv (6.5%+)... so, buyer beware. The brewery itself is sparse from the outside, though that's what most functional, production breweries are. The inside's got a great, open vibe with a clear view of the brewing equipment. The beer is about as good as it get's for local beers, though you may not necessarily find your favorite the next time you go back because they will constantly be rotating drafts. There wasn't any food service at the time but had an in-house food truck as well as allowing people to bring their own food. TIP - If you're coming from the DC area, you can probably avoid the Greenway Toll by getting off at the Sully Rd exit read more

Went there on a late Saturday afternoon. Place was packed; at least 4 birthday parties underway. Toddlers everywhere. Seating was very limited so we ended up standing for two hours. I mean, I can see having a birthday party for/with your kids at a brewery, but really - the place was a daycare with beer. The beer was well made, but none of our group thought the beer was that remarkable. The IPAs were largely 7%+ ABV which for my taste overshoots the sweet spot. The food truck Big Frank's BBQ was heavy on the meat and the heat, but there were no sides. Just meat. Nah, not going back here. Too many other good places. Old Ox still my favorite. read more

Ocelot makes some of the finest quality beers that you will ever find at any brewery. I am talking beers that will make a convert out of non-beer drinkers. Being primarily an IPA drinker, Ocelot always seems to have at least 2-3 IPAs on tap whenever I stop by. Their hop forward West Coast style IPAs are absolutely delicious ... especially their Citra hop IPA. They also do some sour ales that are tasty and pretty amazing. If you like IPAs, come here. They have a nice selection. Check their website to see what's being brewed at any given point. Staff was friendly with the limited interaction I had with them. This is located in an office park off Old Ox Rd. in a red brick building. A food truck is usually parked on the side (Frank's, Red Hot and Blue...). They have some outdoor seating. But...(and I am bucking the 4 and 5 star reviews here): Upon arriving, all the doors were open. Upon entry, it was like a sauna bath inside and darkly lit, with one giant ceiling fan going. The A/C "was being installed". What? This place has been open almost two years. I was about to leave, but my wife wanted to try some of the brews on tap. Sorry, no A/C loses one star immediately with it being over 90° out. Nothing I drank really impressed me. (One of the IPAs, a maple, and the 12% Kitty beer). I thought the beer could have been a little colder too.. I felt like I was drinking in a dungeon. If I want to sweat profusely in a bar, I will go back to one of the overcrowded joints I hung out in back in college in the 1980s. A few kids seen, but that didn't bother me, unlike some reviewers. Probably not high on my list for a return visit just yet. They told me they are expanding and may do their own food eventually and further out, open their own building that isn't in a office park. No A/C + unimpressive beer = 3 star review. Now my wife would have given you 5 stars, but she does not Yelp. read more

Once all the construction is complete in the surrounding roadways, this place will be much easier to get to. Like music? Then their beer names will have you guessing what band that beer came from. Such a home town feel, that keeps you coming back. You like IPAs? They will have one for you from thief east to west coast styles. Their staple beer is my only friend which is a Russian imperial that's full of coffee and chocolate will want you coming back for more. Fun cask beers and now nitro coffee to give you a nice pick me up. Honestly one of my favorite local brews and they have something new every time I come by, so worth the visit! Ocelot is my favorite brewery in the area. It is tucked away in an industrial business park down 606, like many breweries these days, which isn't convenient but probably helps out with the high cost of rent. They have a constantly changing menu of beers, mostly heavily IPA focused. They almost always have a stout of some kind and work in other beers, like sours, kolsch, pilsner, barrel aged, etc. The IPAs are the stars though and are almost always their best beers. You'll note most of the bad reviews on this place are people who don't like IPAs, so as long as you do like them, you'll be fine. I am a medium level fan of IPAs, but I love the IPAs Ocelot makes, they are by far my favorites. They have 3 different glass sizes, which is nice for tasting multiple types, since the alcohol content can be quite high on some of them. You can also usually get growlers of their beers to take home, either buying one of theirs or filling your own. They don't usually allow growlers of their popular limited run beers unfortunately, but very understandable. They also sell cans of some of their beers, rotating stock like the others. Some of the more popular varieties will sell out quickly though, sometimes the same night they release them. The bar area is cool, withe several big communal tables and a large bar. Some days hardly anyone is there and some days they are completely packed and you can't find a seat. It really varies with what else is going on. The room is basically a big warehouse, with the brewing equipment visible in the back. They finally have air conditioning, which makes it pleasant to be inside. They have a small deck area outside with picnic tables for nice days. They also now have pinball machines and old arcade games spread out around the bar, which is cool. They have two TVs behind the bar and a big projector screen, so it is a good place to watch big sporting events. Ocelot has a 'tasting room' ABC license, which is much easier and less expensive to get than a restaurant/bar license. This means they can only serve their beer, no other types of alcohol and they can't serve food. They get around the food by having food trucks come most days and you can bring in outside food or have it delivered there. Some of the food trucks are really good and they rotate through regularly. They have a calendar on their website with the schedule of food trucks and special events. It is important to note that Ocelot has no control over the food trucks, so ignore any reviews here that mention an issue with those vendors. If Ocelot gets enough complaints about a truck, they won't invite them back. Sometimes a truck won't show when they are supposed to or run out of food if they are a popular truck, so have a backup plan for food. The staff is purely bartenders and they generally also work on the brewing, so to help them out, take your glasses back to the bar when you are done. They don't require it, just do it to be nice. You'll often see the owner, Adrian, hanging out at the bar, which is cool. I often see people bring their kids to Ocelot, so that is fine. There are not any kid focused activities, so be prepared to keep an eye on your kids. They also allow dogs inside, which I'm pretty sure is against the law. Hopefully they don't get busted. It usually isn't a problem, but some NOVA entitled a-holes have ill trained dogs. That is pretty rare thankfully and they will ask people with rambunctious dogs to take them outside. Overall, Ocelot is my favorite bar and a great place to hang out. The only real reason to not like it is if you just don't like IPAs, but there are not many breweries that don't focus on IPAs these days. read more

First time visit. Cool setting and really liked the beers, heavy in IPA's which I like. Pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon but folks come and go so tables open up fast. Couple of problems, first I was charged for 4 full pours when I had 3 tasters and 1 full pour. Probably an honest mistake but it's hard to be sure when it happens on the first visit. Also, it's a brewery not a club. Keep the music down so people can have a conversation without shouting. This was just streaming music and not a live performer. read more
