Another great lunch at Ocho! Big parking lot, always a spot. Greeted with a smile from the host and sat in the dining room. The chips salsa and guacamole was fab, so addicting! This visit the salsa was a bit more spicy but it was delicious, not too much, really liked it. Guac was chunky and creamy at the same time, very good as always. Our waiter was quick and polite. We got the chicken mango quesadillas and the seafood chimichanga. Both superb. The quesadilla had plenty of chicken, bacon cheese and was very tasty. I have been coming here almost every other week for a dish I love. What started as good service as I assumed they were getting to know me as a regular has gone way downhill. I'm ignored, never asked if I need a refill... just a whole weird vibe... I'm a bartender, the way they act w other guests but not me is strange. I go above and beyond for my regulars. I have given it 4 more chances than I should have only because I crave that dish....But I won't be back. Coming from management in the service industry... The staff is standoffish and not accommodating....except the hostesses... they are always amazing. The bar staff needs to realize how to take care of people that come in all the time. read more

This is a very good Mexican restaurant that I am glad I found. It is very easy to get to and is located on Route 3A in Weymouth. I was greeted promptly as I walked through the front door and was led to a table in the dining room. A server came over immediately with some complimentary chips and salsa and I put my drink order in so I could look over the menu as I was waiting for my drink to be served. The decor was very nice in the dining room and some Mexican music played softly in the background. The menu had a great variety of Mexican dishes and there is something for everyone on their menu. I was in the mood for something simple and easy so I decided to order their nachos as a meal. The nachos were very good and had a plentiful amount of delicious melted cheese. The portion size was more than enough. For those who prefer to sit at a bar they do have a nice cocktail bar to sit at and the dining area for those who prefer a table is comfortable and allows people to relax and enjoy themselves. I had a very positive experience considering both the food and the service. I am looking forward to dining here again. read more

I went here for dinner with 4 friends (another person we knew gave us this suggestion) and we had a good meal. Our food came to the table hot and we were all advised not to touch our warm plates of food (as they were being served with oven mitts). Our server was friendly and helpful with anything we needed from solving an issue with a wobbly table to bringing our drinks in a timely manner and making sure our food arrived to the correct people. The atmosphere was inviting with lots of various pictures on the walls but the lighting was not bright enough to clearly see our menus with (many of us used the flashlight setting from our phones to clearly see what was on the large menu (with many choices). We heard at least two birthday serenades by the staff to various tables and they were great! There is an outdoor tables to use if you so choose and there is also lots of parking spaces too. I found Ocho Cafe Tacos & Tequila one day when I was scrolling looking for a spot that offered Mexican food. I ordered take out and had no issues! Food was ready on time & staff was super kind. Everything on their menu is reasonably priced! I had a steak quesadilla and it was a good portion size. A couple of days ago, my husband and I had been out running errands. We had missed lunch and so around 4:30pm on our way home we decided to stop in for a bite which turned out to be an early dinner for us. (We have entered the phase of being "early dinner eaters" anyway. We are both very early risers which means we go to bed fairly early. The idea of eating dinner not long before going to bed does not sit well with me.) It had been awhile since we'd eaten here and I am happy to report the experience was still a very good one. There is an outdoor patio with ample seating carved out of a section of the large parking lot. It's never appealed to me to eat out there but they have actually done a nice job of decorating the space and separating it as best as they can from the parking lot. I do see plenty of people enjoying the outdoor space. Once we were seated, water with ice was quickly brought to the table with the menus. Shortly thereafter the complimentary salsa and chips were brought out to us. The tortilla chips were warm and fresh. The salsa was good but for me, it could have been a bit spicier. Next time I will remember to ask if they have a spicier version; I recall that they do. They replenish salsa and chips as needed for you. Soon our waiter came by for drink orders. They were offering a couple of margarita specials and we each ordered one that had luscious bits of diced pineapple in it. The margaritas came served straight up (ie no ice). They pack a punch so drink it slowly. Tom ordered a beef chimichanga and I ordered vegetarian enchiladas. Each of our mains came with rice, beans and guacamole. I loved my enchiladas filled with an array of tasty vegetables and covered in a delicious tomatillo sauce. I make guacamole a lot at home and I found this version to be quite delicious and certainly up to par. Tom enjoyed his beef chimichanga very much. The service was attentive. Prices are reasonable. Portions are ample; I almost always have enough food to take home for another meal. We were glad to have come back after a bit of an absence, and are happy things have remained excellent. We decided we would return sooner rather than later. read more

I ordered the pork carnitas tacos and loved the flavoring of the pork. I also really like how the guacamole is made to order, so we were able to add/remove things in real time. Ocho is one of our regular restaurant rotations. We love it here. There is no shortage of delicious options. I have never been disappointed by anything I've ordered. The waitstaff is always polite and friendly. The inside is beautifully decorated and quite large. They have the ability to accommodate large parties as well. My brother and I got takeout from this Mexican place. I ordered the 1 enchilada, 1 taco and 1 quesadilla combination plate. For the enchilada, I got the enchilada con mole which consisted of chicken enchilada topped with apple mole sauce and sesame seeds. It was good. For the taco, I got the short rib korean taco which came with skirt steak marinated in soy sauce, ginger, cabbage, and pico de gallo. The flavor of the steak didn't really taste Korean. It wasn't my cup of tea. For the quesadilla, I got the mango club which consists of grilled chicken, cheese, caramelized onions, mango relish, smoked bacon, and avocado. I liked the combination of all the ingredients but the quesadilla just lacked flavor. The combination plate also came with citrus chipotle slaw, refried beans and rice but none of the sides stood out. read more

The vibe is incredible from the second you walk Into this restaurant! The he decorations are so fun and vibrant. The staff is so friendly. We got a table as soon as we walked in. We were served water immediately & our lovely waitress appeared within minutes to take our order. We ordered guacamole , queso dip and chips to start. The chips & guac were fresh and flavorful. I'm gonna be honest I think the queso is processed cheese. Not my favorite but my daughter loved it. I ordered a blackberry margarita that arrived on fire. So fun! It tasted incredible! For dinner I got the enchilada Sonoma. What an incredible combo of chicken, spinach, & cheese topped with a Chardonnay cilantro pecan sauce. The portions were huge! I came here after a recommendation from a friend. Given the horror stories I read, Ocho surpised me! Especially after reading some of the horror stories other Yelpers shared. To be fair, these weren't the best tacos I've ever had (thus the search continues), but very good nonetheless. Provided are chips and salsa to start. Solid, run of the mill stuff, no complaints and no specific praise. I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos, a Torero Margarita, and Churros for dessert. The Margarita was large, strong, and complete with a little flame for show! I can't say this was the tastiest Marg I've had, but it still had a good flavor. The Al Pastor Tacos were great! The ingredients were more or less in balance, with a good amount of meaty, fresh, and creamy. But, I would have preferred the protein have a more prominent role and more punchy flavor. Slaw, beans, and rice were generally unmarkable. I will say that they cooked the rice to perfection, and the beans were a nice move away from plain black beans. Churros were very nice, but not the best I've ever had. They were more on the crisp side, with a little softness on the inside. I prefer more softness, otherwise you get a extra-crisp french-fry of a churro. Even with French fries, as crisp as I like them, if they resemble potato chips, it's a little much for me. In terms of value, the price for two tacos and the sides seemed a little steep. However, the margarita was priced more than fairly for the size and strength. Service was nice and fast (tacos took 15 minutes). read more

We came here for the large outdoor seating. We were lucky enough to get seated quickly but there was a wait after we arrived. They had a band which wasn't too loud and music was fun. Our drinks came quickly although wine is clearly not what most people order. (I don't like margaritas) Our food was ready almost as fast as we ordered it and it was yummy and flavorful. Came here a few weeks ago. 2nd time I have been here. David was our waiter this time. The food is delicious. I got grilled fish tacos, and they came out fried fish tacos. They were very good as well. We could never find the waiter, so I ate the fried ones instead. Every time I saw the waiter, he was between the kitchen and the bar talking to the employees. Even my brother was getting upset, which never does. The food is delicious they have a lady with a cart that comes by to make homemade guacamole. You can tell her if you want it mild or spicy. We always get it medium. The tacos are so good they have AL pastor, carnitas, and steak. I have tried them all. Their corn tortillas are thicker, so they don't break when eating them. The black beans are delicious, and the rice is good. I usually add salsa on top. There salsa comes in this small bottle so you can pour share into your own cup. I like that idea. I will always come back, but we will never have David wait on us again. I didn't take a picture of the fish tacos. I just realized we were hoping the water was going to come back to exchange them, but I didn't. Sorry about that. read more

It started so well and ended so disappointing. On the way to Hingham Shipyard, we stopped for Margarita and meal at Ocho Cafe. It's right on 3A, in the small plaza parking lot, hard to miss - but you need to take the Staples entrance... The place was fairly full for Sunday afternoon but two spots on the bar just opened. We received our drinks and chips and salsa, what could go wrong? Well... since we got the drinks and snack the service was over and we were ignored until we requested to pay. Got takeout Pina Loca -- seafood and chorizo topped with cheese in a pineapple shell. They called to confirm that I wanted Cole slaw and not rice, but when I picked up, the order contained neither. No forks or napkins, but I didn't request them. Came with warm chips and salsa. The dish itself didn't seem very hot, despite being early for pickup, and there was more cheese and green peppers than seafood. I had a feeling that having this served in a pineapple would mean a small portion, and this feeling was confirmed. Alas, this dish did not taste all that great, even when I poured on the seafood cream. Maybe this would have tasted better in person? But overall the dish was too gloppy, and the green peppers IMO are too strong a flavor for this dish. Scallops were the tiny ones. Maybe a half cup of seafood total? Staff were nice. The takeout meal was served in the 15-minute window as promised. The online order on their site has no fees for pickup. I couldn't figure out how to schedule the pickup for a later time. read more

Where did this place come from? A phoenix rising from the ashes of a ne'er-do-well Margaritas, Ocho Cafe gace the space and the menu a glam up. Housemade salsas, ranging from tomatillo with fresh avocado chunks, to chili arbol, to a creamy pineapple number (trust me, it's money), are available at a self-serve bar for your complimentary chips, as well as pretty much everything on the menu. But there's one thing you should try on your initial visit: the combination, or as they say en espanol, el combinación. Pick one enchilada, one bursting taco, and one quesadilla, with rice and beans, for $17. I went mole, al pastor and steak (respectively), and the food was exquisite! Nothing lard laden and heavy on the gut, just clean, TexMex flavors that were instant hits with the whole family. Mostly all frozen, reheated food. Lacking originality and flavor. "Asian style slaw" on Korean tacos is the same as on the Marco tacos. No seasoning, just cabbage. The meat tastes good but there isn't much. Bacon wrapped shrimp on Marco Polo taco is reheated frozen. Over all taco does not taste good. "Fire Roasted Vegetables" are steamed and from frozen. Absolutely no flavoring. Rice is tasty, good seasoning. Nothing exceptional. Cole slaw might be house made but it has too much sugar. read more

The salsa and chips were good. Thick yet crispy corn chips. I ordered the taquitos topped with pork, the pork was tasty and tender. The taquitos were folded corn tortillas buried under cabbage. Very unlike me not to finish a plate of taquitos but it was oily and mush. We also ordered a chimichanga deluxe which had no crispness and Street tacos ...also drowning in cabbage. The other night was our third visit to Ocho Cafe. As on our other evenings, the food was sumptuous and flavorful, and you cannot beat the atmosphere. They have live music on Friday nights. We have always received attentive service. During this most recent meal, our server Kathe was exceptional. She had us laughing throughout the whole visit. Every time she passed our table, she checked to ensure everything was satisfactory or if anything was needed. Then she would leave with a one liner that constantly made us laugh, making our night out that much more enjoyable. What a surprise located next to Bear Cove in Weymouth! For a first time experience, my girlfriend and I were blown away by the friendliness of the waiters, bartenders, and hostesses. The karaoke was very entertaining and the interior decor made us feel like we were in a Taqueria in Mexico! Review for Monday 3/11/2024 6pm. Our waiter Juan C. was not so great. He mumbles and speaks softly, so we had a hard time understanding him. He got our drink orders wrong and also got one of our dishes wrong as well. I asked for the ultimate cheese enchilada and he came back with the shrimp enchilada. I'm allergic to shrimp and he insisted I gave the wrong order. On the menu the shrimp enchilada is below the cheese enchilada. May have been a miscommunication but as a server he should have confirmed the orders and spoke loud and clear. At first, I let it slide but he kept insisting it was my fault. Anyone with a food allergy understands how bad this could have gone. When we received the check, he didn't void the shrimp enchilada and wanted us to pay. Plus we sent that dish back because it was not going to be eaten. Next time you're at Ocho, don't get Juan C. as your waiter. Definitely enjoy the food with a waitstaff with more experience.
