Holy crap. Not sure what the best part of the meal was because it was all so Dam good. We had a party of eight so I got to see and taste a lot. The fried pickles were fantastic, the pimento bacon cheese fries were loaded and the mozzarella sticks were the best I've had in a long time. The Pimento cheese burger was big and amazing. The Rueben burger was huge and tasted like a dream. The meatloaf was some of the best meatloaf I've had. The coleslaw was great; usually coleslaw needs a lot of salt to taste good, but this coleslaw was seasoned perfectly when it arrived at the table. All of the portions were so generous and filling, and all of the staff was welcoming and kind. Our server Mary was super attentive and provided great service to our admittedly large group. Overall, I would definitely recommend eating here! read more

Best fried pickle spears with a crispy dill batter and ranch to dip... (Only other place that comes close is Pluckers in Austin, Texas!) Turkey leg is a must, the skin is almost like a sausage casing and the meat is incredibly moist and full of smokey flavor. Don't let the name fool you. This isn't a deli, it's a full blown restaurant. It does serve sandwiches, but it also serves various breakfast dishes, lunch plates, and dinner plates. The restaurant looks big and looks like they can accomodate large groups. I ordered the country fried steak with white gravy. At first, I was worried because it felt a little warm. I thought they rested it for too long. Luckily, it still tasted good. The gravy tasted decent, and the steak had a nice, crunchy texture. I tasted the fried catfish and that tasted good. It was light and cooked well. The sides I had, the green beans and fried okra was decent. The service seemed slow. I think it was because they looked very busy. It took a while for us to get the food and the waitresses seemed overwhelmed. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at this place. It's a decent place to go if you're in Ocoee. This restaurant has a friendly staff and excellent food. We normally order the Patty Melt as they make the best one around here. No one else holds a candle to theirs. The fried pickles are good and come with the best homemade ranch around. Their sweet tea is always fresh, delicious, and ice cold. I must say that this is much better than we expected when we sat down for lunch. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with the menu. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes. These were hot out of the fryer and although fresh did not have a lot of taste. We were hungry so at that moment they hit the spot. For entrees we had the Black Bean Burger (delicious!) and the Reuben. Both were excellent. For sides we both tried the sweet potato fries and, as advertised, by other diners they were very tasty. After my grandma was raving about this place I went with her and my aunt. We went at lunch time so it was really busy. I liked the decor and ambiance, it really fits in with the area. That being said, it could use a clean and fix up in places. The wall decor was really dusty. I ordered the bbq pork wrap with mac and cheese, my aunt got the catfish wrap with sweet potato fries (that were extra), and my grandma ordered chicken tenders with white beans and coleslaw. I wasn't blown away by my meal but it was pretty decent. I asked for no pickles so don't know if that would have helped but my wrap was really dry. It didn't have enough coleslaw in it and could have used more bbq sauce since it was rather tasteless. The mac and cheese was ok, also bland and needed some seasonings. It was warm at least. My aunt was really upset because her sweet potato fries were ice cold so she did not enjoy them. She always wasn't happy that her wrap only had 1 tiny piece of catfish in it and no tartar sauce (also dry). My grandma must have had the best dish at the table because it was all hot and apparently really great tenders. I didn't try them but they both said they were great. Kind of pricey for a lunch of a small wrap and little portion of mac and cheese. Pure microwave gourmet! Had VERY DRY meatloaf with CRISPY mac and cheese and a roll made by Chef Microwave. Sent everything back to only receive a freezer burnt flavored burger with a cold ungrilled bun and flavorless overcooked fries. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this under par and outdated restaurant. What a great place to eat specially after Cycling, Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Water Rafting, Hiking or just being in the Beautiful Appalachian Mountains we have here in SE Tennessee. Normally appetizers come out first and together. There were five of us that ordered two apps and our main courses. One appetizer came out, the chips and queso, which I was meant to share. Took one look at the weird color of the queso and passed. The other app, fried cheese sticks came out after three of the meals came to the table. Side of fries, both regular and sweet potato fries were not close to being above room temperature. My meatloaf was tough, had no seasoning other than the ketchup/bbq sauce topping. My partner had the hamburger wrap. That's what it was, loose hamburger meat, again no seasoning, in a wrap. Not a good experience and in all likelihood will not return here again. As far as I could see, you only have about five food choices in the Ocoee area. Our whitewater guide recommended this place, so we came here. I had the mushroom & swiss burger. I was disappointed that the mushrooms came out of a can (you can tell by the color and texture of the mushroom) and the burger bun was store bought...but the meat of the burger was good and the fries seemed to be freshly cut. This was a great weekend for first times for me and my wife. Friday after work we went camping at Adventures Unlimited with a plan to see Milele Roots play Dumpys (another great spot in Ocoee). Because it was a quick overnight trip we went with a minimalist setup and had no plans to make any food and so with the prospect of a long night ahead and no way to cook food it was off to try the Ocoee Dam Deli. The building sits on the highway and is a long rectangular building. You walk into to a long thin horizontal room with a hostess station, some seats for diners to wait and two small bathrooms at the far end. The dining areas is nice with some booths and regular tables and is definitely family friendly. It is also has pretty much every square inch of wall space decorated with artifacts that help define the area and old black and white photos from 1800's and up (think mining and rafting and hunting and farming). It was definitely not an after thought and gave us something to do while waiting for our dinner. If you know me you realize I am a bit wheat intolerant but I can generally get away with eating flour once a week. Having craved a Reuben sandwich for a week and the deli conveniently having a Reuben sandwich on menu that is what I ordered. My wife order a hamburger steak with pickled beets, black eyed peas and a side of bleu cheese dressing. The place was slammed, most likely because it was Friday night and because it was all you can eat fried catfish night. The other diners seemed to relish the catfish and if I wasn't craving a Reuben so bad I may have considered it especially given how good it smelled. After a bit of a wait which wasn't unreasonable and wouldn't have exasperated the patience of my kids had they been with us our food arrived. I was delighted. The pastrami on my sandwich had been seared on the flat top and not microwaved. Also the rye bread had been buttered and toasted on the flat top as well. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a Reuben and the bread was dry and may have been in a toaster for a moment and the pastrami was microwaved and it was just a soggy uninspired mess accentuated with a wad of cold sour kraut. My side was coleslaw (I passed on the house made potato chips) which was much like coleslaw I've eaten at a thousand restaurants. But again the Reuben was a winner. My wife's hamburger steak was well cooked and well seasoned. It wasn't remarkable but it was after all a simple hamburger steak. The beets were what you would expect and the black eyed peas were like we like them: soaked and then cooked to death southern style. Those are all the good things. You might have some people complain that the bleu cheese dressing wasn't house made or that the pastrami was most likely boars head or that the provolone was a bit mild and a bit square shaped but all those things being said you have to keep in mind that you are at least 30-45 minutes away from any comparable restaurant. And, with such a reasonably priced menu in such a tidy and clean restaurant I can't help but give them four stars. I'd consider giving them five if they added beer and wine to the menu (most likely won't happen because of the convictions of the proprietors and I can appreciate that) and if they changed a few things like making their own salad dressings, etc. But again, they do try to source produce locally and our food was really good. I know I couldn't run a restaurant that did so many things so well. I can also see how the wait times build up as we came at the start of the rafting/camping season and when we left there was a substantive crowd waiting for a seat. I can honestly say though I'll definitely make a point to eat at the Deli next time through Ocoee. read more

After spending the day on the upper Ocoee doing some whitewater rafting for a friend's birthday, our group of 12 stopped in after receiving glowing recommendations from our guides. Unfortunately, ODD isn't going to get another visit from anyone in our group. For starters, we waited ~1 hours for our food (mainly burgers and chicken tenders), with little communication from our waitress. We were told at least three times that the food was on it's way out, but were still kept waiting. When we received our meals, all of our fries were stone cold. The burgers were decent, but definitely not worth waiting an hour for. As my wife so eloquently put it: "You'd think that being so close to all of these rafting companies, that the restaurants would be better equipped to handle large groups. You'd also think they'd at least coordinate with the rafting companies to know when large groups were coming in." When we come down again to raft, we'll try some other place. Maybe we won't have to wait an hour for mediocre food and cold fries. read more

We stopped by on our way back to our hotel from Sugar Mountain overlook. The food was hot and tasted great! I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and fried okra. Hubby ordered the Philly sandwich with fries. Both of us agreed we would stop by again and are contemplating stopping for dinner as well. This spot is unfortunately one of the only places to eat around here. The service here was alright, however eating here with dirty dishes and utensils was not great. Along with this all staff had masks on however one female server was ignoring her tables and job at this deli and took her mask off to sit and talk with some of her friends that had come in for lunch. With her doing this the table some how became extremely loud and unpleasant when she was talking with them. Stopped in on our way to a rafting event. The chicken tenders, are by far the best we've ever had. Anywhere. Hands down. That beats Champy's Chicken in Chattanooga, too. I would stop by this place again if ever in a 20 mile vicinity. Service was very pleasant too. Downsides of this place - do not go if you are in a hurry. They do not do things very quick. Second - do not order water for your drink. The water has a very very terrible taste. They should not even serve it. And frankly the soft drinks also had a tinge of this flavor. I think it tasted sort of like either old moldy pipes or bleach. Or maybe a combination of the two. They would have gotten 5 stars if not for that. But would I return? When I traveling, I like to learn and enjoy local culture, avoiding the all-present chain restaurants. This diner is a true local gem that exceeded my expectations. The food was real "granny-style" home made and Brandon, was very good at helping me choose the right dish and attentive and well spoken all the way. I also had the pleasure of meeting Michelle, the owner, and immediately got why that place had such character and quality. My family and I love the Ocoee Dam Deli and Diner! They could easily compete with restaurants in a bigger town. They have amazing wraps burgers AND blue plate specials thank you very much! I happen to know personally that their mashed potatoes are hand peeled, mashed and mixed by hand daily. The family that owns it is awesome and the staff is amazing, I should know I'm close to quite a few of them ;) if you're looking for a great place with great food, that's the Dam place to go. I have lived in the area all 27 years of my life and the Deli was a welcome business. With the exception of Hardees and now McDonald's, we've never had long-running restaurants of any kind in the area. My husband and I decided to try the Deli on a recommendation of a friend over 2 years ago and LOVE it (we've since got my parents addicted too). I work at the local grocery store and recommend them to any tourist that come through asking where there somewhere good to eat... "Where do YOU go to eat?" and I always tell them the Dam Deli. We go probably about once a week and never get tired of the food. They have good burgers, chicken (especially the chicken Parmesan which is HUGE), salads, hamburger steaks, mac & cheese, and AWESOME breakfast (definitely recommend the omelets, pancakes & french toast). I can also witness that they do buy fresh produce multiple times a week... often times I can go there after work and already know the side of the day from their purchase earlier. You've also GOT to try their 4x4 brownies... AWESOME! There's been plenty times we've went by there just for a take home brownie fix :) The owners and staff are incredibly nice and make it a point to speak to me & my husband anytime they see us - by name even. My husband and I got the Rueben and Philly cheesesteak. I thought the Rueben could have used more sauce but easy fix. However they charge for everything, each side of sauce is 25 cents. Not too bad though. The philly had plenty of meat yet not a lot of cheese, it was also dry. We got okra, fries, and sweet potato fries as our sides. All were great. My biggest issue was literally over a dollar. On the menu it says sides are $1.99 and yet they charged me $2.99. Not a big deal I thought it was just computer error. Until they sent over the "manager", who was an 18 year kid. He then rudely decided to break it down to me and my 9 top table that because I ordered more than what my meal came with I was charged extra. It was a honestly a little embarrassing in front of all my family. When I asked if I were to just order the fries on their own if it would still be $2.99 he replied yes. He was very condescending and rude. I felt bad for the waitress she looked uncomfortable and she was great server. If they were willing to risk 9 customers over a dollar I can't imagine their reputation means much to them. read more

Waiting staff needed better training and customer service skills. We had to ask multiple times for the right condiments, make sure you get them to be clear on what want. Also, idk what is wrong with the staff, but we could not get their attention at all because of their constant mingling. Laslty, it took way to long for us to get to sandwiches. After experiencing the slight sketchyness of Bear's Den BBQ, this place is a breath of fresh air! Our party of 10 was able to get a table quickly, and the menu was full of appealing southern comfort-food options with fair prices to boot. It reminded me a lot of Cracker Barrel (with a Dam theme), which is a must for me on any kind of roadtrip! Anyway, they stop serving breakfast at 11:00 am, so omellets were a no-go. *sad-face* I was still able to get a nice cup of coffee with plenty of refills (Yay for the waittresses who kept a close eye on my coffee cup!). Even better is their choice of blueplate specials, deli sandwiches, wraps, fish and chicken plates. I ended up getting the baked chicken and dressing with a side of sweet potato casserole and pickled beets...YUM. The chicken & dressing was so moist and juicy. The sweet potato casserole rivals my mom's Thanksgiving recipe. The picked beets were your average pickeled beets...I wish I ended up getting the green beans, b/c I tasted some of my hubby's, and they were so fresh...not cooked in fat like you might expect. I think they really try to offer healthy options on their menu, and I appreciate that greatly. There are some not-so-healthy options too, if that's your thing. I tasted some of Jang C.'s country fried steak with white gravy....Oh man! Is it blasphomy to say that it was better than my mom's? 'Cause it was! All in all, the check came to be around $20 (plus tip) for two of us. Not bad at all, if I do say so myself. The portions were generious, the waitstaff was super friendly, the food was delicious and comforting. Wow, I have to say I was surprised to see the bad/mediocre reviews. We went here on a Monday for dinner after our rafting trip at the suggestion of our rafting guide. I am SO glad my husband asked about places to eat on our bus ride back to base camp! I was convinced when our guide told us they used local produce. We walked in and immediately got seated. Within a minute, our waitress Whitney was getting our drink order (some of the best sweet tea we'd ever had and I'm super picky) and asked if we wanted to try the fried pickles. (OMG you have to get them, they are awesome.) She was back with the drinks pretty quick and with the fried pickles not long after that. She took our food order and before we even finished our pickles, it was at the table. I don't even think it was 15 minutes! I got the open face roast beef sandwich with sweet potato fries and corn souffle (special side of the day). The whole meal was fantastic. My husband and son both ordered the chicken casserole with the sweet potato fries and corn souffle. My husband never eats all his fries and I look forward to finishing up his when I'm done. Not this time! Not a sweet potato to be seen on his plate. Our son's girlfriend ordered a hamburger and French fries. In over 6 months, I have never seen that girl eat a full meal and we were all surprised to look over and see her plate empty. She said it was excellent. Whitney was very attentive and kept our sweet tea glasses full. When we were finished with our meals, we were STUFFED. She asked if we wanted to try the blackberry cobbler or peanut butter brownie. At first we declined because we couldn't imagine eating another bite, but then our son said he wanted to try the peanut butter brownie. Whitney came back with a piping hot, huge piece of gooey brownie covered in a delicious peanut butter sauce. We all ended up sharing it. After the first bite, our son asked Whitney for a glass of milk and my husband asked for a scoop of ice cream. (We could have gotten it with ice cream as Whitney offered it when it was ordered, but our son didn't want it.) She came back with those lickety-split as well. All in all, I was very happy with our visit to the Ocoee Dam Deli and Diner. Four of us ate for under $60 with appetizer, dessert and some extras. If you're a food snob and only want to eat hoity toity food, this isn't the place for you. Actually Ocoee, TN isn't the place for you! If you want some good home cooked food, you can't get much better. This will definitely be our go-to spot when we return for future rafting trips! read more
