I watched. I judged. I said nothing. Mom wasn't very hungry, so she ordered something called the Teany Weany Meal -- one slider, a handful of fries and a tiny beer. Frankly, it looked like a meal designed for me, but apparently that was not the intention. Dad had a Stella and Mom switched to a Diet Coke while they continued their highly competitive athletic endeavors. The whole place has a fun, casual beer-hall atmosphere, and it was surprisingly family-friendly too. There were kids playing the games, groups hanging out after work and plenty of space for everyone. Very civilized. But let's discuss the service. Almost immediately after I arrived, someone brought me my own water bowl. Excellent start. And THEN... A complimentary pup cup appeared. For me. No ordering. No begging. No reviewing the menu while wondering why there wasn't a dog section. They simply recognized the most important customer at the table and acted accordingly. Five paws already. Mom had the apple cider, Dad had the Crisp pilsner, and they shared a giant soft pretzel. I conducted a thorough visual inspection of the pretzel but was apparently expected to be satisfied with my pup cup. Negotiations remain ongoing. The staff was incredibly sweet and attentive. Several people stopped by during our visit specifically to say hello to me, which is exactly the level of hospitality I expect. Fruit flies in a food establishment are a critical violation under the NYC health code, and I'm reporting what I saw to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The Parlor upstairs is where the actual bar still lives. Sixteen cocktails you can't get downstairs, table service, relative quiet. Downstairs, skip the fried chicken (it's tenders, whatever the menu says) and get the fish and chips, which are honest. Service was fast and a little impersonal, which is what happens when your ground floor is 60 percent tourists photographing the dollar bills on the ceiling. The 1828 building still does a lot of work, low ceilings and all. Is it the world's best bar anymore? No, and half the old bar team has scattered to open their own spots around town, Limo in the East Village being the latest. But a Guinness and an Irish Coffee here on a weekday afternoon is still one of the better hours you can spend below Chambers. Book the Parlor, treat the Taproom as the warmup.

But what really takes the cake is the location - amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge, DUMBO, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade all around you. Even the stage has a cool framing of the bridge behind it, truly a great sight. Obviously the venue is very weather-dependent, but when it's nice it's REALLY nice. Rain or shine is supposed to mean the show goes on despite weather, not that the venue can deliver a fraction of what was advertised and keep your full ticket price. Pier 17 has a beautiful setting but their customer service when things go wrong is nonexistent. Won't be back.

I had to approach the bartender to find out where exactly this party was and he instructed me to look beyond the large curtain to the side just as if I were searching for the Wizard of Oz. As I tugged myself behind the curtain, I walked into a decent-sized room and with balloons and the words, "Welcome to Emerald City" in the front of the room with a DJ playing today's hits and of course, songs from the Wizard Broadway show. At first, I thought this was going to be a dance party but soon realized that it was going to be a craft party instead. There was a station for making your own broom, one to make a friendship bracelet, and another one for letter writing along with sealed wax to use on the envelope with different stamps. I sipped away an Old-Fashioned in my souvenir Wicked cup while singing along to the Wicked soundtrack and making a friendship bracelet for my daughter. This experience was relaxing and joyful so now I know my type of party consists of a craft night. Close to the end of the night, I participated in a Wicked costume contest. I lost but nevertheless, I had a good time. Ended the night with an order of burger before heading home to show off my creations. I can't wait to check out their other events and come here again!

There were multiple lines for different ticket types VIP skip the line royalty/open bar general admission but nobody was properly directing people or communicating what was actually going on. People were slipping through side areas and bypassing lines while others stood there waiting over an hour. I personally waited about 1 hour and 10 minutes just to get inside with little to no explanation from staff besides constantly asking what ticket do you have. Like you asked us so many times! The biggest issue is that the ticket expectations were not communicated clearly at all apparently general admission became based on capacity and first come first served but that was never properly explained when getting the ticket. A lot of people on line were confused and frustrated because naturally you assume if you have a ticket you should be able to enter in a reasonable amount of time. That needs to be stated VERY clearly beforehand and repeated while people are waiting. Then once we finally got inside it wasn't even overcrowded which made the entire wait make even less sense. The food lines were another 40+ minutes so at that point the entire experience becomes standing in lines instead of actually enjoying the venue the open bar was a waste of moneyyy situation was also frustrating because by the time many guests got inside after waiting forever the open bar window was basically over and they would not honor it and the margaritas tasted watered down and I'm sorry... paying $30+ for a drink just for it to be handed to you in a plastic cup is actually insane to me. The only complaint was the water was very hot - always. The room had outlets in all the right places and automatic blackout shades on the windows. I found the 16th floor to be nice and quiet at night. The light control panel and AC panel was at the bed side which was nice as well. I would stay here again. Wall & Water, which Yelp currently lists as closed, is very much open as of May 2022. However, it is only open for breakfast from 7-11. There is no room service option but you can get to go orders. Breakfast was menu based and my basic brekky of scrambled eggs, sausage and toast and potatoes was very good. The OJ was good as well. Free coffee and tea is available in this area as well from 7 to about 2 it seemed. Once breakfast is over the space is quiet and there is a kind of second lobby of the hotel with some nice seating areas right off the elevators which reminded pretty quiet. Centric Bar & Grill is open for lunch (12-2) and dinner (4-11). I had dinner here twice and enjoyed both times. The bread pudding dessert was great. The salmon was prepared well and was as a whole a great dish sides and all. The chicken linguine was good as well. The kitchen made me a nice side salad that was off the menu as well - it was basically just spinach and tomatoes but was a big serving and had good dressing on it. The bartender was friendly and attentive enough and didn't rush you. I'm not sure if he wasn't the greatest bar tender or if his bar stock was just very limited, but he had a hard time going off the cocktail menu for me and another guest I overheard ordering.
