A beer garden located right next to the touristy surroundings of the Oculus and the 9/11 Memorial & Memorial Museum, it's also located close to a lot of commercial office buildings, so not a bad place for happy hour if you work nearby. Pros: - very cool art painted on the exterior walls. If I were rating it for aesthetics alone I'd give them a 5 for sure! - they carry over 50 beers! Pretty solid for a beer garden. Their food is standard brats, pretzels, grilled cheese that you find at similar establishments. - if you're a tourist and in the neighborhood, then a central spot to take a break while walking around FiDi. - there's a row of food vendors set up on certain days of the week right along the street between the Oculus and this beer garden, so there are other food options in case you're interested. - convenient to public transportation, a couple blocks from the PATH to NJ, the subway 1/4/5/6/E/N/R/W and multiple bus lines. Just don't stumble down any stairs or escalators after a few drinks. Cons: - it's basically all outdoor, so you're at the mercy of the weather. if it's really hot or rainy then better idea to go elsewhere. - it's seasonal, so as of 2025 only open April 1st to October 31. - Some have remarked that prices are on the higher side due to the location, that being said--it's the location that's kinda cool right? Depending on what it is, $18 for cocktails is sadly not that much compared to some other places in Manhattan. I didn't even know the Oculus had a beer garden. Following the map instructions had me so over the place but it's on a corner outside. It was packed but they have tons of tables. It had a small gate around it so you get ID checked before entering the area. Lots of picnic bench seating and there's a walk up bar. Never knew this was here until a friend made plans on a Sunday to meet up. Cute location and the covered patio helped with the sun as it was a toasty day. We thought it would be a good idea to play a board game however, as soon as we set it up, the manager came to inform us that she never saw anyone set up a board game and that we would need to limit our time playing. I had a very underwhelming experience here tonight. The cashier/bartender could not for the life of himself tell me what cheese components were in the grilled cheese. Instead, he just listed the cheeses under the quesadilla menu item. I also saw him take a shot of something that did not look like water before incorrectly preparing my skinny margarita. (he genuinely believed a skinny margarita has no triple sec, as opposed to no agave nectar or other added sugars .) The saving grace of the night was the chips snack. Great vibes, okay food, solid but pricey cocktails Came here with a friend after work on Thursday, around 6:30. It was super packed then and all the tables were occupied. After a few minutes of looking around I found 2 seats at the counter in the back, and tables definitely started emptying when it got closer to 7:30/8. The vibes are great for a group hangout or catch-up with a friend. It's loud, colorful, and buzzing with energy, but very hot on a summer afternoon. I got the pretzel and my friend got a cocktail with a funny name I can't remember. The cocktail was super tasty but pretty small and pricy for $19. The pretzel was okay, not super flavorful and a little too soft but it was very large and came with mustard, cheese, and honey mustard (tbh the pretzel at treadwell is a lot better). Rude staff, crappy selection, overpriced, their kitchen is closed at 8pm on weeknight and even when their kitchen is closed they won't let you bring outside food in (even if you're still buying drinks). I had a great time here and enjoyed the vibe a lot! I was with my parents and brother and they aren't much public drinkers as they are very conservative so I, honestly, enjoyed the atmosphere and people watching! However, the server I first got was very uptight and I just let it go since this is the city and I come from a city (Miami) so I know that city people are rough around the edges, so I paid no mind. We got another server and she was super nice and friendly and just made me happy that we got her helping us. What attracted me to this location is that they had an interesting stout. I barely drink beers and stouts are my go to and I am happy to report that I enjoyed their canned beer! Lol My parents enjoyed the Señor red sangria a lot and my brother his beer. Honestly, the price wasn't bad at all for what you're getting. I don't think it's overpriced, just average. $10 for my beer and the rest were $9. I couldn't quite figure out this place...its a beer garden with no beer on tap which I found quite odd. And the crowd was an Interesting mix on an early Friday evening. We got the last two seats they had available at one of the posts near the server area. We got a soft pretzel that was delicious but thats pretty hard to mess up. Overall, it's a nice respite if you're in transit somewhere else or need to waste a half hour or so while you get your bearings and plan your afternoon. This is a very cool spot. It's basically a beer garden outside the oculus structure near the World Trade Center memorial foot prints. So expect this place to always be crowded. You won't have trouble finding a seat as most of the patrons are having one or two beers. So be patient. But be respectful of the area you are in. Don't get too drunk! read more
