    Adjaruli khachapuri- SO GOOD
    Katrina M.

I made sure to make this the last dinner I had before moving out of Chicago because I had to get the Georgian cheese bread one more time. The khachapuri is so delicious here, the main reason I came back. The staff has been great to me both times I've come and the food was delicious again. I enjoyed their hummus and atom for appetizers. The shrimp à la marina was so good I almost didn't want to share! Glad I got to introduce my parents to this place

I was pleasantly surprised by Oda! Everything from the cocktails to dessert was impeccable. I had the babaganoush (some of the best I've ever had), short ribs and baklava. Can't recommend this cozy place enough!

    Pita and hummus - excellent
    Ashley L.

Came for dinner. Our family shared pita and hummus to start, which was the best I've ever had. The pita was fresh and soft, and the hummus was creamy. So much of the menu appealed to me, and I don't go out for Mediterranean often, so it was super difficult to choose a meal (family style would have been ideal but with Mediterranean we couldn't have more diverse preferences). So I ended up opting for two small/lighter dishes to have my own tasting: the mini eggplant roulades and soup (I tried to order the chicken meatball on the menu, but they only had butternut squash). The mini eggplant roulades were just DEVINE. So unique and so fresh. The soup was really good - since it wasn't on the menu I had no description when ordering - it ended up having some curry spice which isn't my favorite (specifically cumin) but still enjoyed it. Our server was really friendly, originally from Turkey and was receptive to my parents' excitement over our upcoming trip to Istanbul. We weren't rushed on a weekend evening. The restaurant was really nice and pleasant atmosphere. A little more upscale than I was expecting. I would absolutely love to go back here and try more of the menu. Although I know the struggle would be real to not repeat the eggplant roulades.

Cute place and amazing food. Friendly welcoming staff with great food recommendations. Had fresh burrata salad to start, with a lovely glass of Doremi Saperavi red wine. Moved towards their Spanish Octopus main course. Had to try their Oda Adjaruli Khachapuri but was too full to finish. Had to also try a dessert and had their Kazandibi pudding, which reminded me of my grandmother's tembleque. Definitely have to come visit again. Worth the visit.

I was excited to try this restaurant but it left me wanting more. We split the meat platter which was mostly good except the steak was overcooked. The dessert we order had too much cheese that it taste more cheesy than savory. Looks pretty though

    Baklava

This was my first time trying this place out. I've been craving baklava so I gave them a try and I will say it's pretty fire. So good! I'm glad I placed two orders b/c they do run kinda small. Overall great customer service & will be coming back.

I had such an incredibly lovely meal here. Alec couldn't have been kinder and more solicitous; the interior is hip but neighborhood-friendly, the food is familiar but adventurous-adjacent. Ok, the food. Absolutely delicious and fresh and healthy and novel and made with care etc etc. This is a gem: they want you to love it, everything is superlative from service to food to atmosphere.

    Spinach pkhali

We only got takeout here, but since I spent about 5-10 minutes waiting to pick it up while the host dealt with a reservation issue, I had a chance to look around a bit and soak up the ambience. Inside, the restaurant is a warm and inviting space with wooden decor and comfy-looking seats. As for the food, it was surprisingly good. Not that I had low expectations, but my order -- falafel and shepherd's salad -- was not especially adventurous. Still, Oda delivered a tasty combination of flavors, serving the crisp falafel in a thin layer of smooth hummus and chopped parsley, and tossing the vegetables in a light coating of olive oil and pomegranate reduction. I also tried the spinach pkhali, which others had recommended. I was not as impressed with this dish -- it's served cold, and the spinach part was a bit overpowering for my tastes -- but everyone else finished theirs, so I guess I was in the minority. As far as northside restaurants go, this probably ranks in my top 10. Worth a return visit for sure.

Tucked unassumingly in a shopping mall in Mundelein, Ararat is a tiny hidden gem. With only about an 8 table dining room, it is a cozy, intimate venue, with a huge and amazing menu, featuring Armenian cuisine. A party of 4, we ordered drinks, 3 appetizers, and an entree for each of us. The portions were generous, delicious, and we probably over-ordered by at least one appetizer, but we wanted to sample and share as many dishes as possible. We began with glasses of tasty Armenian apricot wine. Our appetizers came out in sequence rather than all at once, starting with Italian Lady's Fingers. A mixed salad of cooked bell peppers, nuts, onion and prunes. Very good. Next we were served Khorovats, Armenian style grilled eggplant . Also an excellent dish. Last was beef and lamb dumplings, Khinkili. One of these large, juicy dumplings could have been almost half a meal by itself. I've tried khinkili in a number of restaurants, and these were the best I've eaten. Our entrees were Steak Kebab, Lamb Kebab, Lamb Rice Pilaf, and Frikasse, a chicken, mushroom, vegetable in sour cream sauce dish. All were very good, and were were saddened that we were all too full to try any of their baked goods desserts. The meal was excellent, the small dining room comfy and the service very good. One word of caution: If you plan to dine here you must be patient. Dishes were served as they were prepared, and apparantly little if anything is prepared in advance. The advantage is hot, fresh, and tasty dishes. The disadvantage is that there was a 10 minute delay between service of the 1st and 4th entree. We were in no hurry, so we did not mind. Also we were sharing our selection. For a casual, relaxed, delicious dining adventure I highly recommend Ararat.

It was served right from the oven cut into wedge shaped slices and was delicious. Our shared lamb Kebab was a very generous portion of large chunks of grilled lamb. Served in a bowl with its natural juices topped with thin sliced onions, it was perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked to a perfect medium rare as we had requested. A side of the Georgian version of ketchup was an excellent accompaniment, tart, tasting of garlic and herbs with just a bit of heat. Service was very good, prices are reasonable, and the dining room spacious and attractively decorated. I recommend Kitchen House Cafe, and we look forward to coming back to try more of the Georgian dishes listed on their menu.

There appeared to be a private party going on, and to be fair, they seemed to be having a fantastic time. I, meanwhile, mostly felt like an NPC in the background of their celebration. Service was a little off-putting -- not outright bad, just the kind that makes you wonder if you somehow interrupted something important by ordering food. I tried the Chkmeruli (garlic chicken) and khachapuri. Both were decent enough, but at around $45 total, I kept waiting for the "wow, this is worth it" moment that never really arrived. The khachapuri was fine, the chicken was fine... everything was just aggressively okay. To be fair, your mileage may vary. I may have caught them on an off night, and clearly other people there were enjoying themselves. But based on this visit, it felt less like a cozy culinary discovery and more like paying cover charge to awkwardly attend a party I wasn't invited to.
