This Mediterranean spot was super close to the train station, so it was the perfect spot to fuel up after my travels. Upon arrival, it was a bit confusing to order, but I was prompted to sit wherever and had table service. I ordered the chicken donor wrap with fries, and the wrap was the perfect size. The flavors inside worked really well together. I was one of the only people dining inside, but there's plenty of seating and it seems like a very family-friendly place!

Bereket was amazing. We got the Turkish breakfast which came with an assortment of olives, cheeses, bread, tahini dip, tomatoes, cucumber, egg and tomato omelet, and the star of the show - the butter in honey! All delicious and refreshing. We also ordered Turkish coffee (espresso-like) and Turkish tea. The service was quick and attentive. This is a great casual spot to get together with friends.

This is the easiest five star review I have written this year! While in Chicago, we were starved and it was -4 outside so our walking radius was like five blocks. Berkeley was the top rated restaurant in the area and for many good reasons!! Fast, fresh, made to order and reasonably priced. Just two blocks from the JW Marriott we were welcomed in and treated like regulars. The host was friendly and generous towards us. We spent two weeks traveling across Türkiye last year and this just brought a rush of fond memories, tastes and smells. Turkish coffee aid rich and dark! Turkish tea for everyone much like in Türkiye. We started with hummus/bread and were treated to two falafel since we were starving. The bread was fresh from the oven and sprinkled with sesame seeds. We ordered chicken kebab platte and a cheese pita. All Of which were enormous portions and tasted delicious. The salad was fresh and the kebab was seasoned perfectly. Within 15 minutes of sitting we were feasting. So fast!! Take out was constant which reinforces the locals preference and by the time we left at 7:39 the restaurant was full of people. Table service or takeout are both great options and I believe they must use DoorDash and Uber Eats as well. Exceptional experience and well with five stars.

It was our anniversary and we decided to do a sleepover in Chicago downtown. So on our way to the hotel, we stopped by this restaurant to eat good food.. and I will tell you it doesn't disappoint. The food had huge portions with good amount of Veggie as well as meat options. The server was kind to us and service was quick. It was a decent restaurant with many food options. We even ask for to go since we wanted to stay in the hotel and enjoy the hotel. The Turkish kebab was to die for. Ambience wise it was a good restaurant with Istanbul feeling. I even asked him about things to do in Istanbul when we visit Turkey. He did tell us some dues and donts about it.

Vegan eating at an authentic Mediterranean restaurant :)

AMAAAAAAAAAZING. When I lived in Chicago I survived on Mediterranean food & continued the obsession when I moved back to California. This means I've had a LOT of hummus in my life. None of it compares to the hummus made here. The bread is made in the morning so it's very fresh, & it's incredible. The place has several vegan options - see the photograph I attached for all the vegan dishes my mom ordered: hummus, lentil soup, ezme, eggplant salad. They have soda, Turkish coffee, regular coffee (but the Turkish coffee is so much better!), orange juice, etc. it's a BYOB kind of situation but I don't even care that they don't have alcohol bc this food is seriously so wonderful.

    Iskender Kebab & Lahmacun

I've been to Bereket many times over the last year. Simply my favorite restaurant in all of Chicago. When I'm not there, I'm dreaming about my favorite dishes and planning my next visit. (Me right now, literally) I consistently order the Iskender Kebab and the Lahmacun, but everything I've tried has been very scrumptious. The portions are great too. Beyond the food, the people are so kind. Chris and Molina always make me and my friends/family feel so well taken care of. Love love love!

Well originally I was supposed to try Italian restaurant on canal Street eatery but unfortunately my acquaintance who I will not name bailed if not ghosted me. Which was fine in some ways but a disappointment on her end. Anyways when I was working in downtown and being here more often I saw this Turkish restaurant it's a bit pricey to me especially now that I'm living on my own in Chicago but since I didn't bring a lunch I decided to give this place a try as a bucket list. So I went trying different dishes that I hope is authentic Turkish? Versus ordering your typical familiar Persian middle eastern dishes although Turkish people tend to say our food is different but I don't see a drastic change on ingredients or recipes for other Middle Eastern countries? I started off with the Turkish soup and it was good. It reminded me taste wise of lentil although there's no lentils in the soup. It was more mush down than actually having lentils in the soup. they give you lemon slice to give it a complimentary aftertaste. They also gave me a complimentary bread with olive oil with garlic and pepper and a slice of lemon which gave it the bread a unique taste which was good. I then tried this unusual dish with yogurt that looks like a ravioli called manti. That's what I think of it l.these are very light diahes. I then tried this Turkish like burrito Pizza called lahmakun . It was uniquely delicious you eat it like a burrito but you have to call it a pizza because you roll it up they put some spices in meat and you get some salad condiments with tomatoes and another slice of lemon. And then I had to kazandbi Custard which was basically their version of flan it had a nice caramel burnt aftertaste which was actually delicious they gave me a complimentary tea since this was the first time coming here for lunch. Service was amiable however some things they forgot when I was eating my soup they forgot to give me a spoon. The table luckily was just me was a bit wobbly where they set me down for dining in. Ambience of course was busy but very modern contemporary Turkish I guess. A bit pricey but I guess somewhat worth it. I will come back for like the kabobs which is more traditional and domadres which is a different version according to them and that's a great Vine leaves with meat wrapped up

I love this place. Not crazy busy. The staff are super nice. There's an amazing choice of foods. I absolutely love this place. The chicken was the moistest we've ever had. It's usually dried out and over cooked. It was not the case here. The place definitely saw a decent number of folks coming in for dinner.

Sat immediately and ordered, the eggplant salad came out very fast. The mixed grill was delicious and a large portion enough for two. Was checked on but could've used a refill for our drinks. Casual, cozy, and great light fresh healthy food.

It was delicious and service was excellent ! I will definitely go again! I love the lahmacun it was pretty good

The entire menu is tantalizing (I need to come back and try everything). The portions are sizable. The eggplant salad was exceptional. The chicken kebab is exactly what I wanted it to be. The lamb and cheese stuffed pizza was excellent. The service was do fast and friendly. And we ended the meal with a free glass of Turkish tea!

I've tried a few Turkish restaurants in Chicago and Bereket is definitely my favorite! I just discovered it recently and have already gone back. All the food is delicious, the owner and servers are friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is unassuming and welcoming. Allow me to recommend a few dishes: - Iskender Kebab: a classic Turkish dish of meat with a tomato-based sauce and yogurt. What I love about Bereket is that their yogurt has a hint of mint, which I have never had elsewhere. - Mix Grill Kebab: when you want to sample a bunch of different meats. Love the Adana Kebab and Beef Kebab included in the dish, plus the salad is light and refreshing. - Dolma: best grape leaves I've had. - Kazandibi: also the best version I've had of this milky pudding dessert. Unlike other places, this one is nice and firm, which gives the perfect mouth feel. Additionally, the Bereket staff know what they're doing when it comes to baking. The free bread they serve before your meal is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The same goes for the simit, the Turkish breakfast pastry that's kind of like a sesame bagel. Speaking of which, they have a Turkish breakfast from 10am-2pm that looks phenomenal, which I'll definitely be coming back for in the near future!

We were in the city and decided to go to Bereket for lunch. Being the city, you do have to pay for parking, but we found street parking nearby. The inside of Bereket is fairly spacious, and there's outdoor seating as well. We ordered a lahmacun (basically a Turkish pizza), manti, and iskender kabob (one of my favorite Turkish dishes). The lahmacun was pretty good, on par with lahmacun we've had at other Turkish restaurants. It was different in that it was served "sandwiched" rather than open face. The manti was not what I expected; I'm used to the larger manti from Uzbek restaurants with a side of sour cream or yogurt, but the manti here were much smaller but generous in quantity. Plus, it was layered on top of the yogurt sauce. Not much meat inside, but this was a very tasty dish. The star of the show was the iskender kabob, one of the best I've had. The meat was seasoned well, the tomato sauce was delicious, and there was an adequate amount of bread/croutons to soak up the sauce. Pricing was higher than Turkish restaurants in the burbs. Service was friendly.

Those of us that wanted to come early and not worry decided that we wanted to go to a restaurant close by to wait for our tour time and that's how we found Ema. As soon as we walk inside we see how beautiful and modern the interior looks. They had a lot of seating available and we got a nice table by the window with a view We wanted to eat light before the tour so we shared a bunch of small plates. We ordered the mushroom escargot, lemon Caesar, crispy potatoes, a couple orders of hummus and some chicken kebabs. That mushroom escargot was one of my favorite things I ate during the entire Chicago trip. The mushrooms were creamy and rich. It tasted umami, bright from the lemon, slightly spicy from the Calabrian breadcrumbs, and paired perfectly with some warm pita bread on the side. The hummus was smooth and well seasoned. The lemon caesar was fresh and fairly standard. The crispy potatoes were perfectly textured and were soft and pillowy on the inside. As long as they sat on the table they never lost their crisp. The chicken kebabs were tenderly, juicy and garlicky. We were all putting together our perfect bite combinations with the pita bread. Everything we ordered I would actually order again. Though may want to try a different salad next time since the Caesar was pretty simple. Regardless, still no real complaints with the food Our server was charismatic and funny. He had a great attitude and entertained us throughout the meal. Everything came out promptly as well so we made it out and could take our time walking to the riverboats. Lucky for our friends the tour said they'd be docked for a few minutes after our scheduled start time to set everything up. As 3 minutes after our start time we see group 2 sprinting up from a couple blocks away Overall Ema was consistent, flavorful and reliable. Not a bad price point either for what you get. I'd definitely recommend and come back

I called them because I wasn't sure if the online version would be too slow. We were a group of three that came in Saturday night at 7 pm. It was moderately busy. Food portions are colossal so I would recommend one appetizer and one entree if you are a couple. They give you a complimentary dish. We ordered arayes with meat, meat toshka, mixed grill with baba ghanouj, fillet of basa fried, and mint lemonade. They also offer you fresh Arabic coffee before you leave. This is about a 4.5-5. -arayes with meat 4 - this was not bad. It's like a tamer version of the meat toshka. -meat toshka 5 - I prefer this over the arayes because they add the Syrian cheese. This one was bursting with flavor the moment you took a bite out of it. The minced beef and lamb just melt in the mouth. -mixed grill 5 - this came with 3 big skewers (shish kabab, kufta kabab, and chicken tawook. It also has tomatoes and onions to help cut down the meat when digesting. There are two heaping portions of biryani and saffron rice and baba ghanouj. The baba ghanouj was creamy and flavorful. It goes well with the pita bread. The meats were cooked medium well unless you want something. I think next time I'll ask for the shish kababs to be cooked medium rare or medium for a more juicy taste. The chicken tawook and kufta were both succulent. -fillet of basa fried 5 - the two pieces of basa fillet were astronomical. It also comes with two different kinds of rice. The fish was flaky, moist, and seasoned. Make sure you add the lemon and eat it with the sauce. -mint lemonade 5 - this was very refreshing after eating a heavy meal.
