Absolutely need to update my already 5 star review. In the years I have been coming here they have expanded and added to the brewery. In their expansion two things have been consistent to me.. quality of the beer and quality of the service. My newest favorite people have been Benji and Cassidy! I can always count on a hello and a good, cold beer from either of them. Not discounting the other great service I've gotten there but the workers can really make or break a place no matter how good the beer is. I'm telling you if you come here you really get it all. I am adding a review to agree with most other posts I browsed through. Here is a summary: -Great selection of custom made unique beers found only at Oddside. I enjoy these on the east side of the state and always looked forward to checking what was new and unique at the brew pub. -No food selection. You are allowed to call and order takeout while your at the bar. What is better than having your favorite pizza or Chinese food delivered at a great beer spot?! -The bar is a little difficult to find if your just following Google maps location information to the building. I didn't realize it was in a large old shared building. -Plenty of free games and darts! -Staff wasn't very friendly. It seems like they should live their job serving awesome beer, but it felt like ordering from a coffee at Starbucks who hates the world. While your there, walk through the building and check out the other stores. We bought some cool hats from the hat shop. read more

Beer was tasty for sure! The male and female bartender seemed disinterested with work today. They both commented on how crazy the beer Release was yesterday but not once did either engage me to asked how I liked any of the 5 beers I ordered in my flight. I was one of 5 sitting at the bar at 12:45-1:30pm. At least the male bartender gave me accurate directions to the Grand Armory which was a way better experience with Kat! read more

A friend suggested I check out Oddside Ales. It's easy to miss and a bit hard to locate but once you do you are in for a treat! I tried 20 different beers and they were all well made. The snacks are very limited and that is ok. They do their beer well enough to make up for a lack of food! My favorite was Queen of Tarts, a tart raspberry wheat ale, that offers sweetness with a bite. I enjoyed trying them all! Grab some friends and get your tastebuds ready for a beer roller coaster. They have a beer for all types. I look forward to go back in the future! PS. Get a popcorn machine please! That would make this place perfect! read more

On one of my monthly visits to Grand Haven, I was in the mood for checking out a new bar or restaurant, so decided to check the Yelp! machine and see what Grand Haven had to offer. Much to my surprise I saw Odd Sides Ales Brewery pop up and I was on my way. First off, it took me a while to figure out how to find the place since it's in a shopping mall kinda place. After I figured out how to find the place, the rest was history. Much to my amazement, the board displaying the beer selection had over ten different beers on tap...can you say WIN!? Not only did they have a big selection, but they had some rarities as far as styles go. Styles such as Berliner Weisse which you can NEVER find anywhere except in beer books and home breweries in the US. It was evident I was dealing with a brewery who wanted to really make their mark by being a bit "odd" :-) The beers I did have were good and I did like the Berliner Weisse even though most people do not like sour beers, I was quite pleased with it. The atmosphere of the place was VERY inviting, kinda had that artsy look to it, but not over-the-top. Also, there's a piano that anyone can play, if/when they ever decide to tune the damn thing (As of this writing I've been there three times and it's still not tuned/playable). Anyway, if your a beer lover or looking for something a like odd in your beer, then check this place out. It's definitely on my permanent radar of breweries I like visiting. read more

I absolutely love this place. Odd Side Ales is such a cool, calm, chill place with outstanding beer. Very hipster, but any craft beer lovers MUST try this place. It was a little tough to find at first because the "front door" is somewhat hidden and not such a main entrance. The bar itself is located in downtown Grand Haven in a strip mall, but there is very little signage. The bar is small, but there are plenty of tables and couches to relax on. They have board games as well. My buddy and I had nail biting game of jinga while we enjoyed our amazing beers. I don't remember what my buddy had, but I had the Mayan Mocha Porter. It was phenomenal. A touch spicy for me, but the overall taste was incredible. I cannot wait to go back and try more beers. I am sure I will update this review. read more

Great beer selection. Thursday night mug special is crazy good. The place was busy on Thursday when we stopped in for the mug night special. Any first tier beer (no stars) was $5 for a mug of up to 32 ounces. What a deal! The beer was so good that we stopped in again on Saturday afternoon. The place was still hopping busy. You have to go to the bar to order your drinks. There are no waiters here. No food is offered. You can order from one of the various menus they have available or you can bring your own. We sampled several more beers from the extensive menu and ordered a pizza in for dinner. It was a great experience! This brewery is a must when you are in Grand Haven! Don't miss it! read more

Odd Side Ales is truly a brewing mecca. It is worth the trip to have a beer in the tap room that is set in the historic Story & Clark Piano Factory in downtown Grand Haven. The tap room is a fun, energetic, festive setting designed to gather with friends and enjoy a brew. This is my second year attending Odd Side Ales black Friday event held at there production facility. I was able to sample four different beers, and also purchase a wide variety of beer to share with friends and family. If you enjoy craft beer then Odd Sides Ales is a must visit. Love Oddside beers, but DO NOT recommend eating here. The food is sourced from across the street at a different restaurant (The Toasted Pickle). They ran the food over to us and dropped it at the table. Before we could confirm that we had everything, the delivery person left - we were missing one item and it took nearly 20 minutes for it to be delivered to our table. Very limited food options (especially for vegetarian or vegan) and the portions are small and a bit pricy for the experience. We had a really difficult time finding service, could only find 1 menu, and the food must be ordered at the bar along with beer orders which was awkward. The new space is cool enough, but my lunch experience today will probably keep me away from the tap room. read more

What can I say about Odd Side Ales? It's located in an architecturally pleasing older building in downtown Grand Haven. It was very popular when we went on a Wednesday night - nearly full in fact. We found a small table near the bar which was large enough to play some backgammon and enjoy a pretzel with beer cheese. When we arrived, Odd Side Ales was full of dudes in tights leading me to believe there was some kind of running group that had just finished up. Running in cold weather is the best, but personally I prefer to wear running shorts over tights, but that's just me. Anyway, there was a lot of man butt about. Back to the beer- of the 7 new breweries we visited this trip, Odd Side was tied for my favorite with Unruly Brewing in Muskegon. Odd Side hit all the rights notes with their beer - particularly their darker offerings - the Fight Milk Stout being my favorite. The staff was a little standoffish, but not holding that against them because they were swamped. Their beer labels are well done and I enjoyed looking at the posters they have up. I also appreciated the beer mug collection which I assume had been individually designed by Odd Side regulars - a real testimony to their local popularity. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and grab a beer (or two) at Odd Side. You won't regret it. read more

My family and I had a great experience here today. We started our day trip to Grand Haven with a visit to Odd Side. We had a couple of beers, played some darts and ordered in food from The Toasted Pickle. The beer was excellent, I especially liked the Cold World IPA. The atmosphere is very relaxed. I liked the mix of the brewery and coffee house vibes. The interior is warm, welcoming and sophisticated - an all around great place to hang out. The staff behind the bar was courteous, informative and friendly to my large, sometimes loud, family. I will be back! read more

My favorite Michigan beer company. My wife and I went to Grand Haven for a weekend getaway. We conveniently stayed right across the street. We had an excellent Burger delivered to us from the Toasted pickle. Not sure if it was the Dank juice talkin, but it was one of the best burgers we ever had. The Odd Sides beer selection is excellent. My only complaint is, they need to keep more shirts in stock. I was going to buy several as gifts, but they didn't have any of the right sizes. Cool colors and designs tho... we will definitely be back. And I'm just glad I can find there beer here in the eastside of the state. So thanks!! read more

This is in the old piano factory. They have a lot of seating but finding a seat can still be a challenge. Food comes from the Electric Hero across the street or people seemed to bring food from other places. They have many good beers, decent prices, and friendly service. read more

How can you not love this place? Fantastic beer, with a ton of choice (26 beers on draft at the time of this review,) the staff is attentive and helpful, and it is never too packed. It's so fun to drop into the cafe early in the morning to get some work done before my day really begins. The atmosphere is really inviting and the coffee selection is great! I've been coming here for years thanks to my best friend who is from here. This micro brewery has grown larger and larger over the years, which has warmed my heart and raise my blood alcohol level. These folks are local and just now starting to have wider distribution beyond Michigan into Illinois and Wisconsin. The beer line up is always changing from their usual standby beers ('How Now Brown Cow', 'Citra', 'Bean Flicker') to their newer, creative creations ('Mayan Mocha Stout', 'Laughing Clown', etc). Each beer is affordable in the brewery itself and still fairly priced when bought elsewhere. I definitely recommend getting a crowler or howler if you are on the go as they will can/bottle it for you straight off the tap. Now, as for the actual location itself, its a great collection of large standard tables, some highboys, bar seating, and some comfy couches and chairs tucked back in the corner. The bar itself does not make any food in house, but they have an arrangement with a local sandwich shop to bring things over from across the street. In addition, they are okay with you bringing in your own food from anywhere else, provided you clean up after yourself. Also of note in the bar interior is the dartboards, a few TVs, and a great little outdoor patio area to boot. Throw in plenty of convenient parking nearby and the rest of downtown Grand Haven, and you've got a cornerstone of the town. read more

I always enjoy visiting Odd Side Ales when I am in Grand Haven. They have unique beer offerings and are located in a nice spot (near Lake Michigan). If you have not been, I recommend trying a flight! The beautiful wife and I visited OSA last Friday during the afternoon and I walked away thinking "too much and not enough." I was delighted to see a brewery in Grand Haven and more excited to see they had an imperial stout on tap. So, I was able to bribe the wife into a visit (thanks Pronto Pup!) First off, I think this is a wonderful location for a brewery -- it just meshes so well with the brick and wood. And they've done a nice job with bar. That said, let's get to the "too much" part -- they had 16 of their beers on tap, which initially falls into the "this is awesome, something for everybody!" and many of their brews have a unique spin on them. BUT, the quality, well, I just couldn't get excited by it. Now, the imperial stout was pretty good, but the others we had, not so good. They tasted more like the result of a friend's relatively competent home brewing, rather than a professional brewery (which is what I assume they're going for). The beers were either weak/watery or overpowering with the "signature" flavor. If they focused on, say, 6-8 beers, I'm sure they'd be able to produce top notch quality. But 16 just feels like way too many for such a small operation. As for the "not enough" that goes to customer service. I felt that our bartender wasn't really interesting in serving us, nor really all that excited about the beers. When we were asked "have you been here before?" we said no (obviously) and I thought we were going to get a song and dance about the place, but instead, we were just given the song and dance about drink options (flights of six for $9, glasses (pints?) for $4 or $5). Growlers and a Mug Club are also available (more information on their web site). I think this place has a lot of potential and just needs to focus a bit more. Next time we're in Grand Haven, we'll be back. read more

There were many unique craft beers available, but it was pretty much self-service. My group found a place to sit, then had to go up to the bar to get drinks. The beers themselves were good (raspberry wheat) but the place didn't service food. Who's going to sit around and drink multiple beers on an empty stomach? So we had a beer and moved on. read more

We were in Grand Rapids and decided to take the drive over to Odd side in Grand Haven for a couple hours. It was a very chill Saturday afternoon here. We walked right by the brewery as it is kind of an old building but no biggie... they really don't need a flashy sign because if your in Grand Haven you know you are going there. Upon walking in it had all the ambiance you want in a brew pub. Worn floors, free darts, hockey game, and ample seating. Mugs lined the wall behind the bar which is always fun to stare at. Looking up at the tap list I was over joyed to see my beloved morning wood stout on the list. I thought my days of drinking this beer were over but apparently they still have it on tap on occasion. The other selections were pretty much exactly what you'd see on the shelf with a couple unique one offs. Not a big fan of wheat beers and I had all their IPA's (nihilist is great) so I wasn't doing kartwheels over the selection. This was just more of a reason to drink that morningwood though. If I wasn't an avid beer drinker I wouldn't be complaining as I've had everything they've put out. Bartenders were very cool and knowledgeable. I had a nice time making small talk with them. If you love going to new breweries or are around Grand Haven I'd say this is a place you have to scope out. For the casual beer drinker it would be really cool for you to try their gimmicky beers. While I may not be into all of them it is fun to try and they are pretty good regardless. I'll definitely be back and I'll try to be there at night some time to get a feel for what its like when packed. read more
