I love, love, LOVE pizza! Muskegon has a couple of "hometown favorites" that are near and dear to my heart, Top Shelf makes the best pizza I've EVER had...not just in Muskegon but of any I've had anywhere in the country. The cheese blend, the quality ingredients, the delicious crust...mmm-mmm-MMM! Granted, occasionally, there are times when other delivery stops are made between the time the driver leaves the store and makes it to our house, which means the cheese has 'set' and is no longer ooey-gooey, but those times are rare; 9 out of 10 times when it gets here it's still as hot as when it came out of the oven and the cheese is still deliciously soft and stringy, just like pizza cheese should be. On those occasions, the taste and quality can't be beat! I recommend Top Shelf pizza WHOLE-HEARTEDLY!! read more

Randomly walked into this place on a Tuesday in March at 2:30. Slow as everyone is. Greeted promptly, clean restaurant, one employee and he had good knowledge of the menu. The pizza we saw being served looked good and I am giving this a four because I don't think it's fair to rate it too low without trying the pizza. The sandwiches were okay nothing special about flavors or bread but the portions were good. Fries were excellent! Crispy and fresh. Southwest enrolls were good a little lukewarm by the time they got to us. We think it was a goof but it was served with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Ordering lines were long and they were busy (Every where is short staffed.) As a result we didn't go back and ask about the dipping sauce We just assumed it was a mix up. Topshelf has been a staple to Muskegon for many years. To be honest, I haven't tried anything else on the menu because I could never not order a pizza! The pizza is always consistent and the toppings are never skimped out on. I love the consistency at Topshelf. You always know what you are going to get and it tastes so good time after time. The Apple avenue location is smaller but has a full bar too! The service is always excellent. Our waitress was friendly and punctual when we visited earlier this week. I wish them continued success! Always looking for new places to eat while traveling. This adventure brought me to Topshelf. Little place in the back of a building that appears to be more building for delivery, pickup and cooking than for dining in. The place was busy which i always like seeing. Sat myself down and the waitress came over after a few minutes. I think they were experiencing what most places are (lack of workers). One waited for the entire place but she did awesome. I got a small grand slam pizza and i will say they hit it out of the park with this one . The grandslam is loaded with 5 meats, mushrooms, peppers, onions, green olive and lots of cheese! The crust had a nice crisp crunch but the inner dough was nice and soft. More than enough ingredients on top and plenty of cheese! I was stuffed by the time i left. Will be back read more

Top Shelf used to be just a pizza place until they added space and upgraded to a full bar a while back. They have always had good pizza: plenty of choices and good quality toppings. Sure, if you like the super thin crust and spicy sauce, there are other places around town to get that too. The thing that stands out and makes me a loyal customer is the always available, local Michigan Craft Beers: Founders, New Holland, Dark Horse, Bells and even the new Odd Side Ales in Grand Haven. I prefer these types of beers, and I don't know of any other place for miles around that has the selection and quality. Plus the prices are really good too! read more

Topshelf Pizza actually serves top shelf pizza. I ordered from here just because it was advertised at the hotel I was staying at and they deliver right to your room. A medium pizza with three toppings with an order of cauliflower and cheddar fried things was about $20 + tip for the driver. I'm honestly not sure if that's a good or steep price, but I thought it was worth it at midnight and they accepted credit cards over the phone. I'm a pretty big fan of fungus on my pizza and they use real, freshly sliced mushrooms... not the pre-sliced canned mushrooms I'm accustomed to. The cheddar cauliflower bites weren't what I was expecting. I've had something from other bars before that looked like a chicken nugget, but was actually ooey gooey processed cheese with bits of broccoli that were pretty darn tasty. These were whole pieces of cauliflower that had a just a bit of cheese and looked like they were hand battered before being fried to a crisp perfection. Even better if you ask me. read more

Let me start by saying, if I could, I would give a rating of 4.5, not simply a 4. I ordered pizza, cauliflower cheese nuggets and a 2L of Sprite; I was told it would get here in 40 minutes but it arrived in less than half an hour. The food was nice and hot, the soda was cold, and the gentleman who made the delivery was very pleasant. The cauliflower cheese nuggets, though hot and crispy, were just a tiny bit bland. Honestly, though, I'd rather they be crispy and a bit bland than soggy and/or greasy! As for the pizza, DELICIOUS! Plenty of toppings, lots of gooey cheese, and the perfect thickness of crust...not too thin, not too thick. The one and only issue with the pizza, which is PURELY personal preference, was that it had a bit too much sauce - NOT the fault of Topshelf. Next time...and there WILL be a next time...I will be sure to order light sauce. One of these days I'll try one of their many subs and/or appetizers. I suggest you do, as well...AND try their pizza. read more

There is few take out places I know the phone number by heart! I still have the refrigerator magnet with their previous name, Tony's. Same owner, same food, same service. Delivers farther than most restaurants. ( you pay a premium for that, but worth it.) the portion sizes seem to vary on the salads though. Depends on who makes them, if they fill those containers fully. But I still love it! ( that's why the 4 stars, and not 5) oh and the credit card charge for using it without notification was a surprise! read more

Look i'm all for ordering food over the phone but the last time i ordered i tried being as courteous as possible, and they were barely on the line for 30 seconds for me ordering. The last time i tried i was told to get a better phone ( apt to be fair), BUT the moment i tried putting it on speaker so they could hear me better i was hung up on. So either brush up on your people skills and understand that some of us don't like our phone plans anymore than you or BE ABLE TO ORDER ON LINE. This isn't about the food it's about the service , i could glow all day on how good their food is. But the service is something left to be desired. read more

Locals rave about this pizza, so while in the area I figured I had to try it. It was only alright to me. Made well but slightly greasiest than other pizza places. Would I eat it again? If I was somewhere they had it, i wouldn't go out of my way for it. I should add that I ordered carry out on a Sunday afternoon and was told will be ready in about 45mins - no biggie, but when I picked it up, it was cold so they may over estimate their pick up times. read more

This is now known as 'Top Shelf Pizza & Sub". It's one of my favorite places to get Subs and Pizza from. Most of their food I believe is delivery but they do have a bar around the back side of the building. I love to go there for dinner quite often for really good pizza and subs! By far my favorite. It's a little small and seats maybe only 35~ people but the wait staff are always super nice and it's a great place to have a drink and some good food. read more

I only give this place a one, because they have no lower! Absolutely the worse salad I have ever had!!! For $5.99, I received the Greek Salad. One handful of lettuce, 6 olives, 6 crotons, sprinkle of feta cheese. What a joke!!! My colllegues purchased salads with meat, huge huge difference! Not impressed with anything, I've tried there! When I called, to talk with the personnel, all I got was the run around and zero apology. I had to explain basic customer service to the man, I spoke with!
