A large and varied selection. Only drawback...not a very large number of German products.

It's wall to wall policemen, firemen, and construction workers. That should be recommendation enough-- you know you're in for big, filling portions featuring protein and fresh bread. And that's exactly what you'll get: a full belly, and gratitude for money well spent. Bonus: GREAT place to take kids. It's noisy, the decor is fun, and the staff and servicemen we see in there are always friendly. This place is a gem.

The veggies are crisp and the grilled panini bread it's served on is so delicious. My roommate ordered the French Dip and he said my pic doesn't do justice compared to its awesome tastiness...he was so impressed and enamored with the quality of meat that he didn't really need the au ju--which is unheard for my roommate lol. On another note, they offer a ton of hot sauces and I tried, Melinda's Ghost Pepper, and it was so fiery good that I'm gonna find myself some. If you like heat, try it! Service was great and ambiance was calm since we came after the lunch rush. Definitely looking forward to our next Smacky's visit!

They also give you a small cookie treat. The sandwich was okay... nothing particularly special, a bit on the thick side which is nice and but was a little heavy on the sprouts for my taste. Overall, it was decent but I'd probably try something different next time. The homemade potato salad, on the other hand, was delicious! My only complaint is the portion size.. you pay $4 for a small serving and I wish they filled the container a bit more. The highlight of my visit was definitely the customer service. The staff were super friendly, charismatic, and really made the experience enjoyable. The place itself is nice... nothing fancy but it has a cozy, well kept feel despite being an older establishment.

They have a very diverse selection of hot and cold sandwiches and can probably find something for almost any taste, as well as a good selection of soups. My favorite is the cheese steak. It ain't like Philly, but a top contender for Spokane. I like it loaded with the grinder sauce and jalapenos, but it is just as good without. Price is a bit high for just sandwiches, but that is the state of our world so not completely their fault. Overall a really good lunch spot to stay or to go.

Receipt said Riley rang us up, which his customer service was great and he even informed me I had a $5 off rewards coup, which I happily used. So wished I had tried the Mac & Cheese sooner! It was one of the yummiest ones I've had and I've had many in my day--definitely in my top 5. It was so cheesy good and was piping hot throughout the duration of my meal, which makes a huge difference. Checkout my video, you can still see it streaming lol Oh and the bread crumb cunchies!? They were sooo tasty and added the perfect touch to an already perfect Mac & Cheese. The Tomato Bisque is always good and just like the overall consistency of thickness and taste at this location. My roommate enjoyed his meatball sub and the pic I snapped, it too if you look closely, still had steam coming off it. Lunch was completely satisfying and I already want more Mac & Cheese. Pretty sure I'll be back sooner than later!

Since this was my first time it really put me at ease. Water is free with cups supplied! I had a half meatball sub on sourdough bread. I don't know how they did it but the end was wrapped around keeping everything together. The bread was soft, meatballs were good not a ton of spices, and the sauce had a robust tomato flavor. Also wanted something sweet and had the carrot cake. Not overly filled with spice or a strong cream cheese flavor. While I would have preferred more of both it also was not overpowering and still enjoyable.

**A Sad Farewell to Alpine Deli - A Beloved German Gem**…read moreIt's with a heavy heart that I write this: the Alpine Deli has permanently closed its doors, and with it, a truly special part of our community is gone. This place was more than just a deli or restaurant--it was a little slice of Germany right here in Spokane. My wife and mother-in-law, both German, found comfort, joy, and a sense of familiarity in its authentic offerings. Whether it was the perfectly prepared schnitzel, the warm and hearty goulash, or the shelves stocked with imported German groceries--from mustards and sausages to chocolates and breads--you could taste the tradition in everything they offered. The loss of those hard-to-find German pantry staples hits hard. Alpine Deli was our go-to for ingredients you simply couldn't get anywhere else, and now there's a real gap where that connection to home and heritage used to be. The staff always made us feel welcome. There was a warmth and friendliness that matched the comforting food and cozy atmosphere. You didn't just go to Alpine for a meal--you went for an experience, a piece of culture, and a chance to connect over something real and delicious. It's a real loss to see a place like this disappear. In a world of fast, generic options, Alpine Deli stood proudly for tradition, quality, and authenticity. It will be sorely missed--not only by us, but by everyone who ever stepped through its doors and felt, if only for a little while, like they were part of something special. Danke, Alpine Deli. You gave us so many good memories. You won't be forgotten.

It's mostly sausage and meats, meats and sausages, hearty rolls and pretzel buns and rye bread etc. I got a Reuben and it was fucking delightful. Shits was piled high with meat and featured a massive wad of house-made (assuming) sauerkraut. Excellent bread and cheese. Soft. Bread was not really toasted all that long and I devoured the thing. Cost $12 for a whole sandwich with no sides. I shouldn't be crying about this but yet I am a little bit. Throw a few kettle chips my way and make it feel like a meal eh? A few carrot sticks? Something. Anything. I can't afford to eat like this for lunch. My co-worker got a sausage roll and it was just that. A couple smallish sausages with hot mustard on a white roll. Looked and tasted great but I know he must've walked out hungry. $8. Cup of soup is $6. I'm complaining a lot about prices. It's not their fault. They make from scratch and Spokane City has em' bent over with taxes and fees at every turn I'm sure. Service was really friendly and they were knowledgeable. They vary offerings a lot and feature some different breads and desserts daily. Homemade bratwurst is available but they tend to sell out, judging by our 12:10pm visit when they had nada.
