I ordered the Unforgettable Nooner, which included turkey breast, cream cheese, mayo, bacon, sprouts, tomato, and avocado on wheat. I also tried the homemade potato salad. They also give you a small cookie treat. The sandwich was okay... nothing particularly special, a bit on the thick side which is nice and but was a little heavy on the sprouts for my taste. Overall, it was decent but I'd probably try something different next time. The homemade potato salad, on the other hand, was delicious! My only complaint is the portion size.. you pay $4 for a small serving and I wish they filled the container a bit more. The highlight of my visit was definitely the customer service. The staff were super friendly, charismatic, and really made the experience enjoyable. The place itself is nice... nothing fancy but it has a cozy, well kept feel despite being an older establishment. read more

Very friendly staff who run like crazy to keep up with the high demand here. Relaxed decor, sorta country chic/hunting lodge, very cozy. They have a very diverse selection of hot and cold sandwiches and can probably find something for almost any taste, as well as a good selection of soups. My favorite is the cheese steak. It ain't like Philly, but a top contender for Spokane. I like it loaded with the grinder sauce and jalapenos, but it is just as good without. Price is a bit high for just sandwiches, but that is the state of our world so not completely their fault. Overall a really good lunch spot to stay or to go. read more

My company ordered lunch from here and we were very disappointed. The food was subpar at best. The cheesesteak was inedible! There was no cheese and the meat was burnt and bitter. The Chinese noodles are good but you get a micro portion. The grilled cheese was also very burnt and hard to eat. The sundowner looks great in pictures but it was packed full of wilted lettuce and had hardly no stuffing as they claimed. Most of the staff was disappointed for the price we paid. Judy is amazing and so friendly every time I come in. She remembers my name and I appreciate her personal touches with customers. The food is fantastic. It's spendier than most sandwich shops but the sandwiches are original and have good fresh ingredients. The afternooner, Nevis nooner, high nooner, veggie nooner (add meat), the cowboy and cheesesteaks are my favorite. The bow tie pasta and Asian salad are good. The brownies are to die for. We've eaten here many times in the past, but I hadn't eaten there in quite awhile. Today we got the Unforgettable. I was disappointed in the quality of the turkey. I mean I can go to Walmart and buy packaged turkey that is low quality and it might be better. Also, everyone is putting the precooked bacon on their burgers and sandwiches, it's convenient but again it's low quality. The bread was wheat and slightly dry but tasted ok. However, I loved the avocado the sprouts etc... it overall still tasted good. But for over $15 the whole sandwich should be great quality! read more

Delicious sandwiches and soups. Our first time there but they have been in business over 32 years. I was craving a chicken salad sandwich and my husband chose a hot roast beef sandwich with au jus. The food was delivered to our table very quickly. They are friendly and amiable. I tried some soup and it was good. We each got a free cookie, like Mom had slipped something good into our lunch sack! This was quite possibly the worst customer service I have ever personally experienced. I ordered a sandwich from high-nooner and requested that they not put mayo on it - but did ask for cream cheese. The sandwich arrived, rather quickly, which was nice. I took a bite of it and swore I tasted mayo- but it was really hard to tell because the cream cheese they use is a very mayo- like texture. So I had two co workers taste it and asked them if it was cream cheese or mayo, because mayo makes me sick. I'd like to add that I am NEVER one to send something back. I usually just suck it up and eat it, but again, It makes me sick so I couldn't chance it. So I called and the owner- Judy apologized and said she would send another one out. Awesome. No problem. She also stated that she wanted the old one back to see it. - weird, but sure. So an hour later she comes into the office "with an attitude" as my office manager described it.. comes and trades me sandwiches and says she wants me to open the new sandwich in front of her- fine. I can see that the cream cheese looks similar to mayo again, but I taste it and this time it tastes exactly like cream cheese. Judy heads back to high nooner with the old sandwich - I get a missed phone call from high nooner about half an hour later and before I can call back, Judy has called me twice on blocked phone numbers (My co worker answered the second time) So I call her back to see what is going on and she proceeds to tell me that I was wrong and that the first sandwich did not have mayo- i assure her that we all tasted it but I apologize anyways if I was wrong- it certainly wasn't with bad intention- and she scolds me about wasting her time and costing her money- about how I don't care about small businesses (I own 2 small businesses LOL) and the fact that she is trying to survive and I'm hurting her business. So basically she called me back to yell at me and tell me I was wrong and I'm a bad person. So did the first sandwich have mayo? We don't really know. My co workers say yes- Judy says no. But I'm pretty sure I didn't send my sandwich back and wait an hour for a new one just for fun. As someone that owns two small businesses and deals with customers every. single. day. I'm really sorry you're struggling Judy, but your attitude just lost you an entire building of customers- so you should really think about how you handle yourself when it comes to customers. I enjoyed my business luncheon with SquishyPeanut at this location. Nice, bright, well maintained restaurant. Service was great. Food was delicious. I definitely would come back when I'm out in the valley and needing a quick, but much higher than fast food quality meal for my lunch. Sandwich size was great. Lots of veggie options: tomatoes, sprouts, onions, lettuce, avocados, etc. that are not $$$ extras. I did wish I had a slice or more turkey to make it a bit more filling. The bread, however, was just addicting. Soft but not soggy from the tomatoes (means it is a well layered sandwich!) and still had a crust with presence - not crunchy, but it debuted well. I was tempted to have the cream cheese, but opted for the less calorie-laden mustard option and I give myself a pat on the back because it tasted just as good. (I'm sure many may argue me on this, but if you love mustard like I do then you'll agree it pairs well in this sandwich.) My favorite color is blue so I was in love with the sandwich wrapper. It's the little things in life. So, thumbs up. Points were lost, however, with the styrofoam cups. Please, oh please, reconsider replacing them with anything, but. Also, to save money don't be afraid to serve customers requesting water with a smaller cup option. That should be a great way to save a bit of money. I don't opt for soda and I've never dinged a restaurant for providing me with a smaller cup than those ordering a drink they paid for. I won't and didn't reduce the # of stars for styrofoam cups, but would really love to see this restaurant change them out for something much more environmentally friendly. 4 out of 5 stars because I'm still in search of that "oh wow, this sandwich place rules!" restaurant in town. Agree with the bad customer service / attitude comments regarding the "owner/manager"? Whatever she is, she is so rude and doesn't seem to care that she comes off that way. I ordered a couple sandwiches with my husband and because we didn't order soup, she had the whole kitchen chanting "no fun, no fun". I couldn't even get a question out, waiting till the yelling at us was done that we were no fun. I finally got to speak and said I was wanting the split pea but it wasn't there today. She repeated in a twisted face and mocking, child voice, "oh I wanted split pea, I wanted split pea" as if she were a child in a schoolyard making fun of me. So I said oh is there a certain day you have that? She then said, almost yelling, "Whenever I feel like it!" At this point, I just walked away and let my husband pay so I could get the hell away from her. Later, I walked up to grab a couple more napkins and she whispered "I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings". I said it's fine, and walked back to my table. She then yelled at me "WOWWWW" because I didn't respond as she wished, I guess. She's so RUDE, and is training her staff to be just as rude. I used to come here now and then and have never liked her attitude, but this time... I'm never going back. I've spread the word to my office as well. You can only get food for lunch and during the week. It sucks because I really like them. They have sandwiches and soups. Lots of options and easily customizable. Was home sick and in need of some comfort food. Called High Nooner and a nice lady answered and took my order super quick. There are days you need to be called "sweetie" because you want comforting and this nice lady knew just what I needed. My food was delivered by a nice girl and I had ordered the Dip'N Nooner, which was piled high with roast beef. I had a cup of the chicken noodle soup, which was obviously homemade, even the noodles tasted homemade. I was surprised to see a chocolate chip cookie in my bag, only making my day even better. Everything is very hearty, the staff are friendly, the ambiance is comforting, but it's just a basic good plain Jane sandwich. If you're looking for a well put together sandwich place with really fresh ingredients, awesome pairings (think cream cheese and other fun sauces), then yes - this is the place to go, but I guess I was hoping for some hoity toity sandwiches and didn't find that here. We stopped into this small sandwich shop instead of what we normally do looking for a filling sandwich for our athletes. We were not disappointed. The options were real meat and nice soup selection. Each sandwich came with a cookie. We ordered three sandwiches and two soups. The tortilla soup was not my favorite, but the cheesesteak sandwich was amazing. The roast beef one and another one with grilled chicken and avocado totally hit the spot for the athletes. Our only disappointment was that they refused to offer a military discount to military families. We loved the cheery service though and it was snappy, which is so important when you don't want to miss games. read more

An hour later our order arrived. The delivery driver was less than friendly. I asked her when I received change back if she could break a 5 so I could tip her. Apparently, this was making life difficult for her. The soup was cold, sandwiches ok. A manager phoned us back to inform us that we mistreated their freshly tipped driver. I was appalled. My office would frequently order from here when I worked off Argonne, but I didn't get super excited about it. I have gotten the Sundowner "Thanksgiving on a bun" turkey with cranberry and stuffing, the High Nooner, egg salad with bacon, and a few others. Their prices are kind of high. I think $5 for a sandwich is ok, but these are almost "airport prices" like what I spent at Au Bon Pain at the airport when traveling. Great food and service, but the manager/owner, not sure which one she was, was so rude and unprofessional! She was constantly yelling at the order taker, who obviously was new, telling him that he needed to yell out the order and any substitutes and correcting him. At one point she even had to tell the customer that she wasn't yelling at him, but at the worker. I felt horrible for that employee and any others that work for her. There is no reason to publicly humiliate an employee, especially since he was new. Hopefully he has other options and will move on. read more

I visited this place for the first time last week. I hate sandwiches, so needless to say, I was desperate for some "I now have a ten minute lunch" grub. I was immediately greeted by a nice guy at the register who took my order. I ordered the "hot chick" sandwich. This was so good!! The order took a bit long (i didn't say anything, i don't mins waiting if someone else is making me food!) so a woman who I'm assuming was the manager came out with my order and apologized very kindly and threw in a free cookie. I absolutely love this place. For a big soup lover this is the best there is. High Nooner has 5-10 different kinds every time I'm there. My favorite sandwich is the sundowner. How can you not love an ode to thanksgiving on French bread? Every meal comes with a chewy chocolate chip cookie, bonus! If I'm judging the sandwich menu for what it is, and the quality of the sandwiches I have tried, I would give three stars. BUT, I have recently been ordering the unforgettable nooner with no sprouts, no tomatoes, extra bacon, cheddar on sourdough and it is incredible. It should be a staple on their menu it's that good. Bow tie chicken pasta salad is amazing, but usually more than I want to pay for a side. Delivery to work is fast and the service is good.
