I stopped by this Odessa Grocery store today to do some shopping for the house. I have been to this store twice before but not in a long time. Those of you who are familiar with Tashkent market, it is very similar to that store. This is a Russian/Ukranian store full of delicious food options to choose from. Everything is fresh and tasty. From the deli department , to the pastry, hot cases, cold cases, ready made salads, dairy, freshly baked bread everyday, candy, chips, beverages of all kinds all the way to meat, and produce. There is something for everyone..They even have fresh seafood and marinated poultry. All the employees are super nice, helpful and friendly. Clean store and the ailes are not too cramped up. Go give this place a try and you will thank me later. They do catering, delivery and will even help you out with your groceries if you need help. Today's visit I bought little bit of everything.. This Russian grocery store and hot plate is truly in my "back yard", and although I think their prices are slightly higher than Tashkent, down the street from their location, on Laurel Canyon blvd! I like that their store is bigger and more spacious; I usually buy their Veal Bobaks, their Madrigal cheese sliced, their prepared Julianne, their half roasted chicken, their meat balls, and cooked kasha! Three days ago, I bought smoked salmon here. It was the only thing I ate that day, and I got sick afterward. When I returned to let them know, instead of apologizing or saying they would look into it, the employee told me "I should have smelled the salmon, stopped eating it, and that if I kept eating it, "sorry, that's not our problem." Blaming the customer instead of taking a food safety concern seriously is unacceptable. I would be very cautious about buying their prepared cold and hot foods, especially fish, salads, any other food prepared by them. read more

Unfortunately, I have to leave this bad review after a while coming to the store again. From my experience, I would really suggest staying away from their hot and cold food section, it tastes horrible, either they use products that were almost expired, or their food was sitting for days in those refrigerators, we found hair in the soup, and in one dish, we found some weird things. So I had to throw away almost ~100$ worth of food! On another note, I noticed that other customers also had either conflicts with the cashier or with the product prices. I had the best time at Odessa Grocery. Even though there was a language barrier, the women working there were so helpful and patient while helping me find specific recommendations so I could really experience the cuisine. The premade and frozen foods were both delicious, and I bought a bag of chips imported from Ukraine where every single chip was actually perfect. Came here w/ my boyfriend & got so much goodness to eat. My boyfriend picked up some of his favorite candies. The food is sooo good, the potato Varyeniki & lamb stew is my favorite!!! Hi folks, if you don't like this store, a minute away you can find Caviar and Delicatessen. They don't carry that much stuff but, everything is fresh, the girls very polite and they're home made food is amazing. They practically cooking everything in the morning. Just stay away from this place! I bought manty and three out of four were addled, had disgusting smell, they were so old so appeared slime in there! When I opened the box, I was just about to throw up! So I just had to throw out all the food I bought in there, thankfully, kids didn't try it, otherwise we'd ended up with poisoning. Very small store but well-stocked, even during the COVID-19 outbreak. I came here after being confronted with mostly empty shelves elsewhere. They had all the Russian staples -- appetizer salads, pickled and marinated items, sweets/candies, processed meats, fish/caviar, frozen foods, grains/noodles, as well as a small produce area. Prices were totally reasonable for some items and a bit overpriced for others. Good caviar at a reasonable cost (19.99 for a fairly large jar). However, I bought two medium-sized frozen bags of pelmeni and vareniki without looking at the price. One was 5.99 and the other was 9.99. That seems like a bit much. No alcohol. Workers were friendly enough (if you've shopped at Russian stores, you know they can be a bit cold, to say the least). It's located in a small strip mall so there is parking available. read more

Im leaving the store 5 stars as they have the best bread. If you're a European, you know how hard it is to find a good bread in the US. I got " grey bread ", no idea what are the ingredients but it was so good. No weird smells of texture, just how I wanted it to be. I usually don't like to write a bad review, but today I'm very upset about experience at this store. My husband bought garden salad and the salad wasn't fresh at all, and when I'm saying not fresh, I mean expired, with terrible taste and smell. I will add pictures. And the thing is not even 10$ for Garden Salad, but the most sad thing that they saw what they gave to him and didn't even tell anything, the salad was expired!!! We used this store for Russian groceries a lot but the past few times we were so unhappy. A lot of items are expired. We also ordered for thanksgiving a duck and price was $50 which is not cheap and when we arrived to pick it up for thanksgiving day they were not able to find our order and later on they said it was cooked for yesterday and they put it in the fridge. We didn't have a different choice than to pick it up as we didn't cook anything and expected to have a fresh cooked duck. At least for inconvenience they should offer any sort of discount but unfortunately they even didn't apologize. It was a mistake from their side and at least discount should be provided because when we warmed up duck at home- it didn't taste fresh as it was in the fridge the day before. So sad but don't have trust anymore and will try to find a different store for future groceries read more

You know an ethnic market is legit when as you enter through the doors you become illiterate [all the things are in the native language and you can't read jack]. Did some digging and apparently this is one of the few legit Russian groceries we have in LA. Happy to say I am not disappointed in the least. Fruits/produce, meats, beverages and dessert: Their fruits and produce are very fresh and healthy looking (much better than San Gabriel and Arcadia's supermarkets). They got cheap as well as expensive caviars. There's preserved meats, sausages and cured herrings. The candy selection is impressive: $7.99 a pound and you have so many varieties to choose from. Unable to read, I went with the most primitive approach: smelling, looking at the pictures of the wrappers/packaging. I got three brands of kvass because I don't know which one is good. Lastly I went to their dessert section and pointed to the various delectable pastries and cakes: I ended up with a big slice of the honey cake [a choice I highly recommend by the way]. Ambience: The place is small but the selection is comprehensive and it has a very ethnic feel to it. Price: The price is great: bought good amount of stuff for only $30. In addition their Rainier cherries are only $3.43 while in Arcadia it costs more and at a lesser quantity. read more

They've got many Russian and eastern European products, which I am always happy to have access to. However, the costumer service is awful. Last time I went there the cashier was mad at me I didn't speak Russian. The price at the register wasn't right and she kept saying " no english" and " what do you want", staring at me like if i was a problem, wanting me to get out of the store. I've been there 3 times and always walk out with this bad, negative energy from there. People don't say excuse me when they try to squeeze in between, since the store is so tiny... I try to go to different stores just because the ambiance at here isn't friendly. read more

I went to Odessa based on the recommendation of two of my Russian girlfriends. The store has a great selection of items from Europe and Russia you can't find in other places at a really fair price. That said, when I checked out the cashier told me my total in Russian ( I don't speak Russian.), and I just handed her my card. The total was $76. 01 for two pomegranates, two tomatoes, one onion, one horizon quart of organic milk, one Kefir, one jar of green olives, two small eggplant and a bag of pelmeni. I thought it was an overcharge and I called to talk with them about the overcharge, and they promptly hung -up on me. I called back again and asked for the manager. She looked at the charges and explained the second charge for $18 was the pomegranates as they've gone up to 7.99/lb with COVID-19. I really appreciate her looking into it, and I will be back. read more

Yesterday I went to Odessa. Same Hot food looks not fresh. They are cooking a lot. They are put food in the big dishes. After a few days left over food they're put food in the smaller dishes. Yesterday I saw left over just 4 pieces a vareniks. There dumplings looked terrible. Better to cook every second days. Fruit it's very good. Next time I will take a picture. read more

Went with some coworkers here on a little field trip during lunch and it was definitely worth the drive for my first experience in a Russian grocery store. I love this cute little store! My eyes were totally opened. From the many pastries in the front, to the canned sauces to the deli section with baked goods and Favorites: "CIGAR" COOKIES - i don't know what they are really called, but they are rolled up pastries filled with chocolatey goodness ORESKI - pastry shaped like a nut and the filling is condensed milk and nuts DADU ICECREAM - black currant flavor is sooooo good BEET POTATO ANCHOVY SALAD - oh soooo addicting PIROSHKI - beef filled turnover was huge and nice and flaky once heated (i finished the whole thing in the car on the drive back to work) EGGPLANT CAVIAR - I don't know why it's called that because I don't think there is caviar in it but it's basically a spread made with eggplant that goes really well with bread and in sandwiches! Prices are very reasonable here for everything from produce to their pastries. Definitely check it out! read more

Worst Russian store ever! I have been looking for an authentic Russian grocery store and I wish I didn't have to give this store a 1 star! It's very small and dirty. The expired food items on the shelves are disgusting. They have horrible customer service specially one girl name Sirun in Deli department. I asked question regarding the deli item and she had no clue what the meat consisted of! Best dill eggplant dish I've ever had! Super creamy with the sesame taste sauce on top with the dills. I have to say it's the best eggplant I've ever had also. It surprised my even bigger than the meat items. The store owner is friendly, kind, and very generous too. He gave me an 8oz cup with two kinds of squid and octopus salad sample to taste. I had 3 bites in the store and bring the rest to my car to finish. That long stringy squid and octopus salad in the attached pictures is so yummy, and it's the store's own invention too. So many varieties on the deli counter, it seems like more items than my first visit. I missed the stuffed sauerkraut and other 3 flavors stuffed food since it's all sold out at 4pm on Saturday, and the owner told me they will have it tomorrow at 12:30pm, and mostly Mondays. I like all the food I got today, next time I will try the roasted potatoes. I saw so many people buy it while waiting in the line. read more
