Overall Vallarta supermarkets are great for Latin food products. They have a lot of imported items from Mexico. A great selection of candy and specialty items. Also dry beans, condiments and more. The produce department is great here. Lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. I love getting avocados and jalapeños from here. I usually shop at the Burbank location and love getting g carne asada meat from. The meat department smells a bit at this location so I have never bought meat here. They also sell hot food items here, there's a counter selling food. You can even sit here and enjoy your food. A freshly squeezed juice bar is my favorite here as well. I went today for chicken quesadilla with rice and beans. Got home the chicken was brown hard pieces that my cat wouldn't even eat. So I tried a different piece and decided to open it and not only is it fried dried brown pieces there a big piece of skin which is nasty. Is it chicken skin or maybe employee skin? Instead of offering more variety, they stock multiple brands of the same items. For example, there are several brands of the same basic flavor of string cheese, yet they've only carried the Everything bagel from Dave's Killer Bread for over a year. Despite customer suggestions, they never seem to bring in other flavors or expand their selection. Stores like Smart & Final offer a much better variety. When i chose the don julio repo, he tried to grab a whiskey... then he sells me anejo when i told home reposado. Then he and his employee friends laugh and won't let me touch the bottle before i purchase so there is no way to tell if he grabbed the right bottle or not. WHOLE ROSTER CHICKEN COMBO and then I ask if they can please CUT IT IN PIECES she said "of course" then when I get the order back to my surprise the entire order was just in a plastic white container. I opened it and I saw the rice and beans there and the chicken in pieces so I thought ok the. This must be it. To my surprise when I got home I was placing the chicken in a different container I realized I was given just HALF CHICKEN ‍. But I'm tired and frustrated and there's no point of me going back. Love this Vallarta! Everything is organized and clean and staff is friendly. I just bought some tamales from the hot containers. Seems like the tamales were all dried, hard and old. One even completely crumbled when I opened it! None of them were moist. Yeah I would be careful when buying the tamales. Looks like Vallarta needs to check up on those a bit more often. I have to start with saying I love this supermarket chain. This particular location, no. I went in to get some juice and a taco. I went up to the juice bar. There was one very busy efficient employee. She requested help. I got a clueless woman. I asked for the largest orange juice I can buy. But just one. For some reason, the girl helping me ran to get help not understanding my order. (A large orange juice) The person she got to take my order rang me up for four large orange juices. I asked: what are you doing? I brought in the reusable container that you get when you buy the large fresh juice, I.e., watermelon juice. So the guy thought I wanted to fill it up. This is one of my favorite Vallarta's in the Valley since Covid. The parking lot is huge and easy to get in and out of. It's huge inside with an amazing produce department and hot food/dining in area. The prices are great and they have the best freshly made tortilla chips, Pico de Gallo, and guacamole to go! The bakery is also wonderful. You can order specialty cakes for all occasions which are delicious! Their home made chicken tamales are Yummy! I recently purchased their pre-cut fruit which included: watermelon, pineapple and cantaloupe for $9. Very sweet, juicy and lasted several days. I have been coming to this supermarket for a long time, off and on when i lived in the Valley. I was here recently visiting last month, and i could not find some of the meats i was looking for. They have the Deli areas, and the small isle area. All in all, they always have a few things that i find that i need. My only problem i do not like about this store, and many others like it having to bag your own groceries. There is a young Armenian woman that works here now. She was a really good help in bagging my groceries for me. I forgot her name, but she was a sweetheart. She wears a mask, and she is short with medium length dark hair. They need more people working here and quit making customers bag their own groceries. read more

This review is mainly for the meat department/butcher- the store itself is clean and the produce is fresh. The meat on the other hand- the butcher clearly doesn't trim any of the fat. This is the 2nd time that I go in two months where the ranchera meat was mostly fat. I purchased 10 lbs and at the end it was about 7 lbs of meat. Valley Glen Vallarta is the best. Came here early to beat the crowd and do some Thanksgiving advanced prep with my friend. While Vallarta as a chain stays away from being like a Ralph's or Vons carrying too many brands Vallarta gives you less to overwhelm you. They have incredible deals on produce and refrigerated foods such as dairy, lunch meats, etc. Vallarta Valley Glen also carries a surprising amount of vegetarian and vegan products and currently have the best deals I've seen on Beyond Meat products.... though not so much for Follow Your Heart, Morningstar and Gardein brands which they sell a far amount of each here... The isles have more than plenty of space (length as well as width) to navigate through. Their wine and spirits section is well kept... most of the cerveza/beer is kept frio/cold...hard alcohol/spirits is kept locked up near the front half of the store, however they have several gift sets on display for the holidays on an endcap. When you checkout the lines move fast however... self checkout is so roomie and spacious it puts any other self checkouts around LA to shame... they keep their plastic bags stocked for purchased and there is always an attendant to assist you if there is an issue. The parking lot is massive though shared with a plaza of businesses. Definitely enjoy this location over others. The service is good as are the deals and product availability (they stay stocked). read more

I am giving this review a 1 star because I cannot give it a zero. I bought this fruit tart for Christmas Eve dinner and was embarrassed when we cut into it and my friend commented how much filling was missing and the extra thick crust (see photos). Then to top it off the strawberries still had the leaves on them. No one bother to take them off when making this "thing". When in the store it looked like there was a decent amount of filling, but it was very deceiving and this was not discovered until after it was sliced. I would be wary if buying any other bakery products and would not recommend anyone else to do the same. Should have gone to another bakery. You guys should do better. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but I felt like I needed to write about my experience. I was craving plantains, papa con huevo breakfast burrito, and champurrado ordered to go. I arrived home and was so excited about my breakfast. As I open the plantains I see a black hair on the plantains! So decide not to eat the plantains. I begin to take a few bites of my breakfast burrito and felt like the burrito was filled with fillers literally just frijoles and arroz with a hint of papa and huevo. The champurrado was also very disappointing , it had no flavor. Basically $26 down the drain. Overall bad experience with ordering food from Vallartas kitchen. I love Vallarta. SELECTION: This is not a massive building but they have all the essentials and more. Most of the sections are smaller than you'd find in a larger store however the shelves are well-stocked. I haven't had an issue finding groceries unless I was looking for a very specific brand. That being said, this supermarket caters to the Latino community so there are lots of products you can't get elsewhere. I have yet to explore their massive spice section or the amazing panadería (bakery). They also sell alcohol (liquor, wine, and beer). PRODUCE: I've been very satisfied with the quality of available fruit/vegetables. The aisles are always clean too. PRICES: Really reasonable prices! My boyfriend lives in West Hollywood so I buy groceries for him here because it's much cheaper. I can get a pack of 12 chicken drumsticks for $3+ here. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Surprisingly excellent. I just don't expect grocery stores to offer this sort of service. I ran into an issue where I wanted a refund. I bought a rotisserie chicken which ended up being ridiculously over-salted (and I love salt so I swear that I wasn't being petty). I filled out the contact form on their website and someone called me almost immediately. That's rare. The staff member (Joanna) was really friendly and eager to help. She arranged for me to come back to the store and receive a refund. I spoke to a store manager who was also friendly and eager to help. Very cool of the store to offer such efficient and personalized service. Finally, all the cashiers have always been really friendly. PARKING: Large parking lot. It's in a big strip mall shared with several other businesses. I've never really had an issue finding parking but I usually come on weekday afternoons. read more

But if I have to do some business at the UPS store or one of the other stores I always stop by and buy something at Vallartas. Especially one of their Bimbo breads. Since they have so many varieties. Even their bathroom is always clean if I have to use it. The meats they offer are amazing. A better selection and prices than other big box grocery stores I know of. I have not once come across one employee there who was not friendly, polite or helpful. Once I was looking for something. When I was ready to check out at the self-check-out, the lady there called the manager, and the gentleman himself walked with me to the area where they had the item. And we had a nice talk. Most of the time I check out at the self-checkout. There is always someone friendly to assist you. Always friendly! Last time I wanted an item, but it looked like there wasn't any on the shelf. I asked if they might have some left in the storage. Because it was on sale. She called someone right away. That girl, very polite, asked me to show her what soda exactly I was talking about and I didn't mind showing her. She said she would look and if they don't have it to let the front desk know. The other day I was looking for something where the produce is. A young fellow. Wasn't sure where it was, because he just started 2 days ago to work there. So he went and asked another coworker to be able to give me the answer. OMG, some good kid with common sense and willing to help a customer. I thanked him and made sure to let the manager know when I paid how happy I was with this young employee. When you drive by and want some truly good produce or meat. And actually good service. This is a great Vallarta! It has a hot kitchen, carniceria, panaderia, fresh juices and ceviche (seafood options). If you don't feel like cooking they gotchu. Their hot kitchen has so many options from breakfast chilaquiles(delicious) to beef and chicken caldos., tacos (asada, fish and beef) I just gotta say it is always clean. I first came here over two years ago when they first reopened LA Fitness next door. It has everything you need even from a Latino store but without the smell and sometimes dirtiness. Coming from Hawai'i where our Mexican and Hispanic population isn't large enough to sustain a huge supermarket of Vallarta's size, I feel like a kid in a candy store when I come here. I'm mesmerized at the low prices of the freshest produce, foodstuffs and groceries here. Okay, so you're probably wondering how can or why I give this supermarket such a high rating? Their product displays are well-organized and nicely stacked. The general condition of this supermarket is clean and well-run. Best of all is their attentive, courteous and helpful staff. I've not had any problem finding a staffer to help me get a product that is out of my reach (yeah, I'm vertically challenged) or locate the product in their inventory. I've come here to market for produce, meat, seafood, pastries and baking ingredients. They make fresh tortillas in their Tortilleria Department, fresh salsas and Latin cheeses can be found in their Cremeria but my favorite department to stop at is their Mexican Kitchen or Taqueria. Their Mexican Kitchen has a hot bar with carnitas, menudo, lengua, chicharrón, aguas frescas and even Salvadoran pupusas. I come here often for Hot Kitchen! The chicken Caldo and Albondiga Soup is great ! It is conveniently ready for you to pick up whenever , comes with tortillas and a small side of mexican rice , there is a salsa bar where you can help yourself to onions , cilantro, Peppers and a variety of salsas (favorite part)! The hot and ready food never disappoints. Also check out the variety of fresh juice smoothies! I drive farther for Vallarta's not only for the better prices but the Ralph's across the street never ceases to dissappoint, the employees are not helpful and usually Grumpy. The Manager on shift last night named Alex came over answered my question, didn't hesitate to help me out when I asked about the very small portion of rice I had recieved from the hot kitchen. I was hungry , fresh out of dental surgery and on pain killers, a little annoyed to say the least. I always tell my wife that going to Vallarta is like going to a theme park. It's bright, it's colorful, there's great energy. This Vallarta is particularly vibrant; there is space to showcase the best that Vallarta has to offer: the produce section is marvelous with excellent product and spectacular presentation; the carnecería is vast, with bountiful cuts of both specialty meats (pig's feet) & standards (carne de rachera de res, eg the best pre-marinated meat you can buy in Southern California, aka 'carne asada); the dry goods area is cavernous and has as many dried chiles and spices as you desire; the refrigerated section is vast (and can save you some time waiting at the carnecería as they have prepackaged the popular favorites; and the in-house restaurant is ample. Don't forget the ceviche, with everything from estilo peruano to crab to pulpo, and the baked goods will have your mouth watering. The people here are helpful, and the store is vast. Best of all, you'll be pleasantly shocked once you ring up your goods; prepare to spend 10-15% less than you would at your local Ralphs or Jons. read more
