My husband and I went to try our first escape room together at Odyssey and I thought it was pretty good! It's located across from Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, in the 999 plaza next door. There's plenty of parking which is always a plus. As soon as you walk up to the entrance you'll see a sign for Odyssey. We came 15 minutes before our reservation time. During this time they just want to review the safety guidelines with you before they taken you into the room for your game. We did the "Towering Inferno" and unfortunately did not make it out alive. The rooms are clean and the staff are all friendly. I don't have other places to compare to but in my opinion I can say this place is low key in technology. When we first entered the room, a staff member gives you the plot by reciting the story. I guess I wanted a more dramatic storyteller but it felt like a low key lecture I guess? 2 people can definitely solve it but it would've been better if we had at least 3 or 4 people. For this challenge, I would say about half of it is solved on computers. The other half are lock combinations. At the end we were told the last bits of info of how we could have finished and escaped. They will take a picture for you inside the room at the end and also offer a group picture with signs in front of their Odyssey sign in the main lobby. I felt like this was a pretty good experience. Again, the space is clean and I am interested in coming back to try their other escape rooms. Don't try to walk-in, make sure to make a reservation on their site! Google for a discount code before you reserve a room. I also saw people mention something on Groupon for deals. read more

Loved this place!!! Honestly, for not playing in an escape room for a couples years this one was a ton of fun. We ended playing two in the same day which was nice since they have a 50% deal for when you do. The rooms were very cool and were pretty easy to follow along. We ended up doing Jack the Ripper and Titanic. As some what beginners, I definitely recommend coming here as the rooms are not super difficult but they do put up a challenge. Each one is super unique and follows their story's well. I would love to give a big shout out to Kat who did above and beyond for me and my friend who came. She was amazing during the whole thing and super helpful. She helped us when we didn't understand what was going on and made sure to always be attentive while we were in the rooms and if we had questions was quick to help us out. Fun time at the Prison Break Escape Room. Our group of 6 was pleasantly surprised when the other couple who reserved for the same time didn't show. The 6 of us solved the puzzles in record time. We never asked for any clues, but they kept popping up on the screen anyways. Some of the clues told us things we never would have considered. We weren't thrilled that so many puzzles needed the computer to either find or enter clues. Also, one key was re-used, even though they said that would not happen. Overall a good time. We look forward to solving the other rooms. We might even bring our kids to the easier rooms that can accommodate more people. read more

We rented out the whole facility one evening, as a team building event. The teams were presets by leadership, and I ended up participating in the 1912 Titanic. While each escape room can be done by single person, we had teams of 8 to 12. Out of the entire group only two survived. It was my first time experiencing an escape room, it seems to be quite fun. I'd recommend anybody to give it a try. You have a few photo ops at the end of the game, and they'll take your photograph for you if you like with your phone. There are restrooms that are available outside of the space. Given the group size that we had, we were allowed to place all of our jackets in their conference room and they locked it during our game. So that was very helpful I thought. Other than that, I'd say that the escape room is in the first floor of a unassuming office building. read more

This overall was a great place I really enjoyed it there are a few things that are fragile and have to be done correctly. This escape company is still open for business during covid and had good safety measures in place. It is by appointment only and all private rooms! My bf and I came by for the Jack the Ripper game and didn't know what to expect. The website didn't disclose too much and had no pictures of the actual room itself. We've completed around 15 rooms by now and this one is definitely on the top 1/4! The room was very well decorated and had several elements of surprises. Game master also did a good job nudging us the right way when we had the answer but didn't unlock the next step. My first impression of this place actually occurred a week before we went for the game. I had emailed the company a few questions and the next day I got a replay and a phone call from the owner himself. Michael (the owner) was super friendly on the phone, he was able to answer my questions and book the room that I wanted for my party. He was super knowledgeable and very proud of his escape games, his pride showed in the passionate way he spoke about it, and how he truly wants to make this a fun experience for all his customers. Today was the day for our game. There was 9 of us and we were created by a very friendly woman who had our group sign in and while we waited for our turn we sat in the very open and comfortable lobby. Once it was time for us to begin, another very friendly woman took us to our room and explained the game, the rules and our goals to us. At no point did we feel rushed, she was patient in answering all our questions and once we got set up we began the game. We did the towering inferno game, without saying hi much since I don't want to ruin it, it was set up in an excellent way, the entire space was used perfectly and we really felt like the space created the environment for the game. Every prob looked extremely real and true to life. The room was in great shape, super clean and well organized. To be honest, the entire space felt clean and well take care off. Our group had a blast and we even set the record for that room!! Another awesome thing that I have not experienced in other escape rooms was that once we got done, someone came in to tell us how we did and take pictures for us. (We didn't even have to ask!) and since we had a bigger group we had a few re-takes (some people blinked) and the employee was super nice about taking a few pictures. Once you leave the room, you are back in the lobby, and waiting for you are fun signs that's are themed to your room that you get to use for another photo opportunity!! This is really neat that each room has signs to match it and that the employees take pictures without you even asking them. The whole experience from start to finish is organized, professional, and fun!! We will definitely be back!! read more

The owner, Mike Cook, was so kind and you can tell that he is so passionate about these games and that he wants to make sure that the customer has a great overall experience. On Saturday me with my friends decided to go to a quest room. We choose the closest one which was Odyssey Escape Game in Schaumburg.The room that we choose was called "Towering Inferno" that became a real " inferno". The issue was that there was no AC working, but the heater yes, in the middle of the summer. At the beginning they let us play with the door open but after 10 min. Somebody came and said that we have to close it because is too noisy. Is like it was our problem that there was too hot inside. It was very hard even to breath not only to play, We couldn't think nothing about only how to finish it faster. When we finished the quest we told them that it was very hot inside and if they knew that the AC is not working why they let us play in that room. The answer that we heard was " we are sorry". My girlfriend and I tried out the Jack the Ripper Escape Room as it was the highly rated online. It's an incredibly well made escape room -- we had a ton of fun and our relationship grew stronger because of it :) The puzzles were challenging yet exciting. The feeling of the room wasn't too creepy, yet eerie/mysterious. Definitely felt the chills. If the purpose was to overload us with information, then a job well done -- I think it was incredibly difficult for us to get the right direction. Review of the Inferno Room: Escape a burning building! I want to be up front and say that the Inferno escape room I tried was completely different from normal escape rooms at Odyssey according to the staff. I wish the room came with a warning that it was heavy on computers in the first part, because I felt like we spent twenty minutes doing basic math and the same game puzzle over and over on the computer. If I wanted to do a game puzzle (think like matching images or connecting dots or match 3 or sudoku just as an example. not the puzzle we did) I would have played my computer at home!! I came here to try to solve puzzles in an actual room. But the first half were only puzzles on the computer. PROS -Interesting themes for the escape rooms -Helpful staff, friendly -Staff offered to take pics of us after the escape room -Staff also showed how we could have finished the room (he didn't actually unlock the locks, just explained how we would have solved the last clues to escape if we had chosen the other way to escape the room). This took five minutes. -Room does look really cool with the lights on if you complete the room -Decor was convincing, felt like I was actually in an office building, modern furniture, cool lights. CONS: - The Inferno room felt more like work to me than a fun escape room. I was ready to leave ten minutes into the room. -Too many computer puzzles (unique to this room. the other escape rooms aren't like this according to the staff). -Not enough room puzzles!! I wanted to find keys behind picture frames and under candles, ect. Overall, I plan to try another one of Odyssey's rooms. I think I will have a better experience and that it was just this particular room's heavy usage of the computer for puzzles that put me off. Terrible escape room. Been to at least 60-70 and this is definitely in the bottom. There was no storyline and we were made very aware that we have your money now hurry up and leave. Staff was not engaging and this is the first time that a congratulations or photo wasn't done at the end. Also stopped twice during the event to tell us "you can't do that until later". That's just ridiculous. Maybe would've paid $10 a person at most but definitely not $120 for 4 people. First and last time at this one! read more

We did the prison break room on New Year's Eve with friends. There were 8 of us (4 adults and 4 kids ranging from 7 to 14). Everyone was able to participate and we made it out with 6 minutes to spare. We have done escape rooms at several other places before and this one really seemed the most involved out of all of them (lots of clues that needed to be put together). It was definitely a more challenging room, but it was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to returning to try one of their other rooms. read more

The theme was highly immersive and the technology was some of the best I've seen in an escape room. There are some twists and turns throughout the game. There are a lot of cool props. We had a blast here today. My 8-yo has been asking to go to an escape room and this was the perfect place. We also brought my 6-yo. I spent hours trying to find "kids escape room" and landed on Titanic themed room here. She solved a few of the clues and we successfully unlocked the room. The staff was great and we would absolutely go again. I called earlier in the day before booking to ask a few questions and no one answered the phone, I didn't leave a message, but within an hour they called me back bc they saw I called and apologized for missing my call and answered my questions. Great time at the Odyssey Esacpe Room. Our group did the Titanic Escape Room. All the rooms were very nicely done and detailed. Very clean and organized. It felt like actually being on the ship. The puzzles were tough but not impossible. They give you clues but still very challenging. Teamwork and constant communication is a must. Our group escaped with just under 2 mins to go. So far we've only played the Prison Escape game. Manager Charles was very informative and very helpful. We played as a group of 3 - two adults and our 13-year -old daughter. We loved every moment of the game from the first minute in. Some of the puzzles were more complicated and some were easier to solve. The game master was phenomenal in helping us precisely at the right time and without being over-bearing. I don't think we would've been able to solve the room without our game master's help but that's OK because we enjoyed the experience so much we are coming back to play both the Titanic and Jack the Ripper room in the near future. One of the better escape rooms in the suburbs - I'd highly recommend it to everyone who's still debating whether or not they want to visit. Book your escape - you won't regret it. read more
