OEC is great! They have sooo many options and I want to try all of them. Considering how much I've spent here I think I'm well on my way to doing just that. I really like all of their fried rolls. You really can't go wrong with any of them. And I love the odd sugary peanuts they give you to munch on while you wait for your food. I've never seen something like it before but trying to pick those little guys up with chopsticks keeps me busy. Great sushi and dexterity practice - what more could you ask for in a restaurant. Our family absolutely loves this place, we get takeout from here weekly. The fried rice or noodle combos are huge and add some sushi and you can't go wrong. After my third visit to OEC Japanese, I had no option but to change my original rating from 5-star to 1-star. Two Reasons: 1) I placed an order to go over the phone. I ordered the hibachi shrimp and chicken and an order of hibachi shrimp and steak. The staff stated that my order will be ready for pickup within 15-20 minutes. I arrived in 20 minutes and paid for my bill, but my food was not ready. I waited another 25 minutes until my food was finally ready. Customers who came well after me that were dining in had already received their meals. 2) Both my wife and I got food poisoning immediately after finishing eating our meal. The chefs (sushi and hibachi) are both excellent, and your food will be prepared fresh and perfectly to your level of "doneness" for steak - flavorful and tender, not chewy. OEC is one of Bartlett's best kept secrets. You wouldn't expect great food from a Japanese take out place, but they never disappoint. I always get take out and I get it a lot, and they always make it fresh. Their servings are huge and the prices are great. I have 4 people make full meals out of one of their hibachi steak and fried rice entrees. On that note, they have fantastic hibachi and crab wontons. I have not tried their sushi but I have heard good things. The people are very friendly and the place is well kept. It gets pretty busy around lunch time so make sure you call ahead. I've never eaten there so I can't comment on the service, but if it is in keeping with the rest of the restaurant I'm sure it is excellent. Granted, it is not where to go to get fine, authentic Japanese, but for what it aspires to do it does it very well. I highly recommend them. read more

The crunchy roll was delicious, really hit the spot. The chicken fried rice I did not like at all, it was very bland and had a lot of onion, which I do not like. I like that their menu is relatively simple, and the food is excellent -- especially the fried rice. Portions are quite generous. Built a la other Chinese take-out joints in strip malls, you wouldn't expect much but this place was packed by the time we left. It is small, but on the first showing, served up some pretty good sushi. A small appetizer of odd (even for me) sweetened peanut mixture started us off. Our food did take a bit of time to come out, but it was the lunch rush. My friends chicken teriyaki was actually a bit disappointing, but I'm not in for that at a sushi place . It's nice to have a Japanese run place (the name is built of the word Oh-Ee-She meaning tasty and commonly used as an expression of such at sushi bars in Japan). There is just a bit more attention to detail and the fish was surprisingly good quality. I kept it simple with a spicy tuna and yellowtail and scallion rolls. 8 pieces on the first made it a killer steal and while the soy sauce was just kikoman (highly prefer the higher quality Yamasa served at more expensive places) and the pickled ginger was a bit too pink, I was quite pleased. I would forgo the side salad unless you like the creamy style ginger dressings... Not a fan personally. *hint* Make sure you look at the paper menu because they have many more rolls than what is listed on the big boards. Definitely going to try again. read more

The folks working were very nice and the food came out very quickly, was fresh and hot or cold as it should have been. The pork Gyoza was probably the best item but the O.E.C. Roll was good also. The salads were inexpensive but I would pass next time. Ginger dressing didn't have enough flavor for me and the cucumber salad had no flavor at all speak of.(looks completely different than the menu picture) It's really more a take out as the name suggests but there are 5 tables to eat at if wanted. ( the food did come on real plates but a plastic fork, just use chop sticks ) The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. $4 for pork Gyoza and $6.95 for the roll. I wouldn't tell anyone they had to eat here but I would come back when in the area. Let me give a disclaimer here: this is not a review of their sushi. Having lived in Japan I am constantly trying to find restaurants that can fill the void left in me when I left Japan. You see, everyone thinks of sushi when they think of Japanese food. However, there is so much more to it and I feel for most of America that doesn't know the true joy of shabu shabu, yakiniku, tonkatsu, sukiyaki, authentic ramen, okonomiyaki, yakisoba, etc. That being said, I always try the other items on the menu before I go for sushi. I learned the hard way that this place must just be popular for sushi. I ordered the yakisoba and gyoza. The gyoza was good - but it is really difficult to screw up gyoza. The yakisoba was pathetic. Lacked the yakisoba flavor and flavor overall for that matter. I had to supplement with their mayonnaise-based sauce to keep my taste buds interested enough to even eat it. Definitely was not authentic. My overall opinion? Do not venture outside of the sushi. I will come back later, try the sushi, and post an updated review of the sushi.
