I picked up my 7-month old puppy yesterday after a two-week training and I was/am impressed by Off Leash K9 training services and Koda's tremendous progress. I am finally enjoying my walks with him since yesterday as my puppy was beyond wild for several months! I live in Marin County and the drive was only 50 minutes and quite worth it. The two weeks without Koda were stress-free. I flew to NY for work and see my son, and never worried a bit. I got Koda's report card and pictures and comments daily, and even once, after sending an email with a question, I received almost immediately a call and got my non-urgent question answered. I intend to forge a very long relationship with Off Leash K9 for boarding and training refreshers. Now, a few things about Koda's trainer, Courteney: she is the very, very, VERY best. I am truly grateful to her, for her care, her training of Koda, her level of expertise, her kindness, and how she genuinely loved/loves Koda and how much he loved her! We really loved our experience with K9 Off Leash and our trainer, Daniel! Peanut is a very energetic and friendly medium mixed dog who was 11 months old when we dropped her off. She didn't listen well to commands when we were outside especially when she saw and wanted to play with other dogs. After we dropped Peanut off, I felt safe knowing that I had Daniel's contact throughout the two week period she would be gone. There was also a daily report card that was sent to me regarding whether she ate her full meal, what her poop was like and how training went (with cute pics/videos)! I really appreciated how long Daniel spent with us during pick up (2 hours) to go through all the training so we can continue to work on it at home. Since she's been back, she feels much more manageable and we definitely trust her more off leash on hikes especially as her recall is now very strong even with distractions! She still needs her e-collar and she is obviously not perfect but it does feel like we now have the tools to get there. I have a German Shepherd puppy and wanted to have her trained so I messaged this place to see if they took credit cards and they did so I wanted to go with them. Then I spoke with someone and told them my working hours and they said they would call me after work. I was never called so I reached out again then they had this guy Matt, who said he he's the owner call me he took my credit card over the phone right away and charged me $2800 and booked my dog a month out when I called back and I said I need help now not a month from now. He said oh I'll see what I can do and call you tonight or tomorrow again I was never called so I filed a view with my credit card company so then they called. He got me in the next Sunday when I went to go meet him at the park. They were not there and nobody contact me and to make a long story short he says he's charging my credit card because he's talked to me a couple times. Please be aware and be willing to lose your money. These people are not right. read more

This is where quality dog training comes from. We did the two week board and train program and the hardest part was not having our puppy at home. In order to get her into the program we had to submit her vaccinations and negative fecal test. There is a bit of a wait to get into the program, but it is SO worth it! We had initial problems with passing the fecal exam, our puppy has giardia and was treated three times for it. I was very concerned that she would be turned away despite having no more symptoms of it, I contacted Matt, the co-owner, and he assured me that as long as I could prove that I treated her for it and was asymptomatic she could still board and train. When we finally got to our drop off day, we met with Jourdan, co-owner, and she answered any initial questions. Then Jourdan took our puppy, who happily went with her. Our trainer, Brandon, sent us videos and photos updates every night. There were also notes on her feeding, pooping, and weight. If I had any questions on anything I had the direct number to Brandon, and the co-owners, and had immediate responses. If there were any questions on if she could have extras to her diet I was contacted beforehand. Now she's been home for a couple of weeks and she's been an absolute angel, she tries to test her boundaries but knows her limits. If I have any training issues or concerns I reach back out to Brandon, who still gives support and answers quickly. Brandon is a gem! He became best friends with our puppy and honestly made us jealous with how attached she was to him. On the day I picked her up one of the co-owners, Matt, did the offloading training instructions since Brandon was unable to meet. It was a relatively smooth transition, she was beyond excited to see me again and had to buckle down for the commands she knows. Matt was there for as long as I needed and explained everything very precisely. Courtney was great to work with and is a real professional. She was very responsive with our questions and was very thorough in the daily report cards. Milo also loved working with Courtney and was so willing to please her. When the time came to pick up Milo, she was very patient with teaching me how to use the eCollar. Milo came back so well behaved. Prior to the training, he would not stop pulling on the leash on our walks. I tried basically everything to get him to stop pulling but nothing worked. After the 2-week training, he was practically walking next to me off leash. Milo also is now much more responsive when I ask him to do other commands such as sit and down. Had an incredible experience with OLK9 Bay Area. The owner, Matt, was always willing to hop on calls with us to address our questions, whether it was 9am or 8pm, he always made us feel at ease and was very thorough about the process, and how everything works. Drop-off was emotionally very difficult, but they sent pictures of our girl as soon as they got there, and they always have a GPS collar on the dogs, which is reassuring. Palmer got to work with Brandon, who is incredible! Before drop-off, OLK9 has you fill out a comprehensive sheet outlining the areas you want them to focus on the most, and Brandon addressed all of those areas for us. The biggest one has been walking as Palmer is a serious puller, and to watch the natural progression of her learning how to walk well was incredible. Brandon is super patient, answered all of our 'annoying' pet parent questions, and gave us a writeup after every day with pictures and videos of what they worked on that day. On pickup day, Brandon spent 2 hours with us training us on how to keep Palmer's training going strong. We never felt rushed, he was very thorough, he had us take Palmer for a walk through Lowe's and work on all of the key commands. OLK9 was recommended to me by a friend who had her 2 GSD dogs do it with great results. Our 9mos old Golden Retriever had developed some bad habits -- pulling on leash, digging, jumping, and scariest of all had zero recall. She spent two weeks with Sabrina and now is the best dog ever. We are able to take her everywhere. She is off leash daily at the park and follows voice command for recall and even heels offleash on walks. She still gets very excited meeting new people but knows she has to sit to get pets and no longer jumps. We have to coach people to not pet her until she sits, and that helps the training stay consistent. Sabrina taught her sit, down, off, place, break (release word) and here (our recall word). She also has door manners we practiced when she came home so doesn't bolt out the front door. We use "place" for car entry and also during dinner so she doesn't beg at the table. "Off" is for everything that is a "no" whether she has stolen a sock, is thinking about chasing the cat or sniffing at the kitchen counter. My partner and I brought our 8-month old spitz-mix (Akita, Eskimo, etc) Cosmo to Off-Leash for a week of training. He was a rescue having a lot of trouble listening to commands, pulling on walks, and nipping us when we interacted with his collar or tried to move him. The training we were doing ourselves was entirely treat based, and it worked ok, but.... After a week with Dominic he is a MUCH better behaved dog. He is more attentive, responds to OFF, HEEL, COME, SIT, and PLACE. We've been amazed at the shift, and having the e-collar makes a huge difference as well. When he pulls, goes places he isn't supposed to, or ignores us, using even a very low setting, like 5-10, on the e-collar makes him focus on us and respond. We don't even have to use treats as positive reinforcement now--we learned that using a big, happy voice and rubbing his head and neck shows him that he's being a good boy. I would highly recommend this service. We may even do another week in the future just to make him even better. read more

Before we dropped off Lily (Labrador/Pit Bull mix) 10 month old puppy was extremely difficult to walk since she is large dog. She pulled constantly on the leash and tried to take off running after birds, squirrels, etc. It was getting dangerous for her, me, and others. She only listened to commands if treat were involved making us feel like bad dog parents. Luckily we found Off Leash K9 Training and while we missed her during her two weeks during training and boarding, we really loved seeing her daily progress videos, photos and report cards. We were stunned to see her making strides and were excited to know that she can be trained/ taught to walk without tugging. We are so happy with the training that they did with our Border Collie Dash. He was so fearful, shy, reactive, and untrained that we were unable to take him anywhere. He came back from his 2 weeks with Lacey a much more confident, calm and very obedient dog. We can now take him everywhere and know that he will be well behaved. This is my second dog I've sent for boarding to Off Leash and I am impressed once again! My second dog is a puppy, so he is super smart and eager to learn but has puppy brain and gets distracted. She was super responsive when I texted any questions while my puppy was there, and still continued to respond when I had questions after we picked him up. Wow, we are so happy with the training our dog received at Off leash K9 training! He's like a new dog. He's been home for almost a week and he's following all of his commands with very few (if any) reminders. We are enjoying our time with him so much more! To say that I was hesitant to send my dog to board and train is an understatement. The horror stories about other companies stood out in my mind more than the success stories, unfortunately. Matt was always patient from day 1. He addressed all of my questions and stuck with me for almost a year until I made the commitment to put my dog through this training!! The training program is well organized. Communication is frequent and detailed - I can see how Polu was progressing every day. Off Leash training was highly recommended to me by other people. I signed up for a two-week board & train program. Brandon took on training my Belgian Malinois who was very reactive to other dogs/people/distractions. They guarantee "100% obedient, 100% off-leash, and 100% distraction-proof" results. Brandon never got dog trained to be off-leash(he admitted he might not be able to control the situation in person). That was not my main concern, obedience is what i was seeking to achieve in this program experience. Two weeks after training my dog launched and broke off its collar attacking other dogs. Correction i was told to do didn't stop the actions of my dog, i contacted Valerie with my experience and had Brandon reach out to me through SMS. After telling Brandon what happened he didn't respond and ignored me. This is not the experience i expected after paying for "100% Obedience w/ Lifetime Refreshers!". Valerie suggested sending the dog back to get refresher two weeks after training which didn't address obedient issues. I would say I'm highly unsatisfied with my experience and the aggression issue that remained after two weeks of boarding that guaranteed "100% obedience". Highly suggest doing your research on trainers and programs around you prior to committing to something that might not be the right fit for you or your dog. read more

We took our previous German Shepherd to Off Leash Training about 7 years ago. Best decision we could have made. Fast forward to a little over two weeks ago. We dropped off our new puppy to Off Leash Training in the Bay Area ( previously we drove a couple hours deep into Sacramento Area for our previous dog). Lilly was the trainer who trained our current dog Diesel. Today I spent a lot of time at the park with Diesel and worked on ALL the commands Lilly had shown us on pickup day. Lilly sent us daily report cards with pictures and a video. We definitely are pleased with the attention and care Lilly gave to our dog. If we had it to do all over again WE WOULD DEFINITELY CHOOSE LILLY as our dogs trainer. In the videos and in person you can feel Lilly's passion for training dogs. We were introduced to Brandon a few days before our 10-month old Husky, Yuki, was to begin her board & train with Off Leash K9 -- and we knew we had made the right choice! Brandon was attentive, kind and fully understood not only the kind of training we wanted for Yuki, but also why; and he delivered exactly that! After the two-week program, Yuki came home a much more confident dog. She's able to handle distractions exceptionally well, doesn't pull on her leash at all (I'm in disbelief every time we go for a walk and she is in perfect heel the whole time), and is mostly able to stay calm and collected through all of the situations we introduce her to (especially in public settings). While we're still working on these commands with her fully off-leash, I know the training tips from Brandon are going to help us both achieve this! Never having been apart from Yuki since she came home at 9 weeks old, I especially appreciated the MANY videos and photos Brandon shared with me, the constant communication and check-in's about her eating habits throughout the two weeks. Off Leash K9 Training is a fantastic training service as well as boarding option. We left our Great Dane Duke with them a few years ago when we went on a trip and we were blown away at his training when we picked him up and then we were training on his new commands and how to follow their approach. Duke was okay before the training but walking without pulling was always a bit of an issue as well as door etiquette when people came over and his down and stay wasn't the best. Now we don't need a leash at all, it's just for show. His heel is perfect, his stay is perfect. It's given both him and us so much more freedom to bring him along with us in public and anyone in our family can now walk him without concern for his size and pulling. Since the first experience, Duke has boarded with the team many times. We've found he's happiest with them over other options after we get back from a trip he can't join us on. Every day we get pictures, videos and write ups of his day and reporting on his eating, bathroom breaks and health. Duke gets lots of play on his boarding as well refreshers on training. We feel like he really gets his own vacation when we go away and getting to review his daily update is a highlight for the whole family. Let's just say we have a very attitude filled puppy half weiner and half chihuahua hahh. He had a huge personality and will not do anything he doesn't want to do. Needless to say the training was tough for him but he came back after a few weeks and he is a completely different dog. He minds he is happy and he is working hard on remembering to do what he supposed to. Because he is both stubborn and VERY energetic it's a work in progress for all of us but obvious he knows what the team trained him. They took him worked with him longer than we originally though for to make sure he was up to standard. They also gave us updates throughout the time and spoke to us about anything concerning or things they were going to do to make it successful. If you are looking for a board and/or train, look no further! I promise to save you the time & energy because OFF LEASH TRAINING is the best! My husband and I have a 7 year old Pit bull who has a lot of anxiety. We've had him since he was 2.5 months old. He was friendly with people and other animals however when I lost my mom, he became very protective of me. He became very territorial of our home. His behavior was unpredictable when we would go on walks. Some days, he would be just fine; and other days, he would continue to pull on his leash during our walks or bark uncontrollably at other dogs. Fortunately, he never harmed anyone. He is only comfortable with our immediate families or people who he was familiar with growing up as a puppy. He has trouble meeting new people. We knew we couldn't count on our immediate families because they were all attending our wedding. Prior to the wedding, we searched and look into numerous dog trainers/boarding for months in advance however, we had the most difficult time. Due to his breed and age, we've heard every excuse/reasoning from other trainers on why they couldn't train our dog. A sigh of relief would be an understatement of how I felt after speaking with Matt. Our conversation was so refreshing, especially after all the rejections we've encountered in the past. Before our dog's 2 week board and train, we signed up for a couple of one-on-one sessions, and every single trainer we've worked with was amazing with our dog. Frankly, my husband and I were so nervous about our dog meeting strangers, yet alone, be so close to him. But they exceeded our expectations! They were kind, patient, professional, and just incredible trainers that loved what they do. Pumbaa interacted with them so well, we were so surprised! Not only did the trainers build Pumbaa's confidence, but ours as well. Fast forward to the week before the wedding. The drop off was the most difficult part of the process for me because this was our first time leaving Pumbaa with strangers and for a long period of time. Our dog was picked up with other dogs (they had their own kennels during transportation) at a park in Pleasanton and transported to Fresno, which is the main boarding facility. We were briefed on what to expect for the upcoming days; and was provided with our dogs personal trainer's information. That's when we met Lilly over the phone. Lilly was amazing not only with Pumbaa but with communicating with us! I had the hardest time saying goodbye to Pumbaa but she reassured me time and time again that our dog will be in good hands. We cannot thank her enough for all the hard work, patience, and love she showed our dog. For example, we were informed that our dog was not eating well (which was a norm for most dogs because of the new environment/anxiety). After informing Lilly that Pumbaa's comfort food was chicken and rice, not only did Off Leash provide chicken and rice, but Lilly hand fed our dog just so he can eat and have food in his system. How incredible!!! They really treat your pets like their own. As far as communication, I love that Off Leash provides a daily progress note covering if your dog ate that day, used the bathroom, and progress in training, ect. Although I received our dogs report card daily. Lilly went above and beyond with communicating with me. She was very responsive to my texts and any concerns I had throughout the week. She continued to reassure me that our dog was doing well. After the 2 week board and train, we finally met Lilly in person and she spent 2 hours reviewing everything Pumbaa learned in training. And I have to say, it has changed our lives for the best. We are able to walk our dog daily with confidence, sometimes even off leash which is a significant improvement! We are able to take our dog in busy/crowded locations without any problems! We understand it's an ongoing process but we are so happy with the results thus far! Off Leash K9 training has been a godsend! Our pup had issues with impulse control and leash pulling before we enrolled him for a 2 week board and train. It was frustrating to take him out for walks as he was super reactive to everything in his environment. I highly highly recommend Tais, our main trainer, who did a wonderful wonderful job keeping our stubborn pup in check. She provided very detailed updates over the 2 weeks that she had him and when we met her in person, it was easy to see that her and our pup created a very healthy bond. She provided super practical training recommendations and advice on how to keep up the training our pup received, as well as offered her time to give us refreshers whenever needed. Her dedication to building knowledge and imparting it to guarantee our success was so apparent upon meeting her. After only 2 weeks, there is such a drastic change in how our pup behaves- he is much more controllable and taking him out has been such a breeze lately. To say the least, I was a bit nervous about the idea of giving my dog up for two weeks to perfect strangers. However, I am a researcher by nature. Meaning, I research the hell outta things. Anything I am spending a few hundred bucks on or more, I do my due diligence. I researched the company. Watched tons of their videos. Read reviews, I even spoke to past clients I found on FB. I spoke to the owner of the SF location numerous times, Matt. Well, we just got our Madison back yesterday. We definitely see major improvements. Madison is a very distracted dog. Leash puller for dogs, people, squirrels, birds, etc...if someone enters our home, they are greeted by jumps and nipping and a hyper dog for an hour. Well last night we had someone come over to the apartment and Madison did a little jump when they entered but we quickly corrected her and that literally was it. Calm dog rest of the night. Amazing. We walked her a lot in the last 24 hours both on leash and off leash and is freakin amazing with listening to HEEL. She understands that command very well and with little correction. Very little correction too. It's amazing. We have a Shiba Inu and they are notoriously difficult to train. Arguably the most difficult to train. We have had some little success with training on our own but we knew our Shiba could be trainable with some help. We used 3 different companies and they were ok at best. We needed help. Drop off day arrives and So we dropped Madison off to Jordan, Matt's fiancé. She went over everything before we handed over Madison. We tried on the E collar, my fiancé and I. We felt what it was like. We felt comfortable handing her off. I'm not going to lie, it was a difficult two weeks for us without her. BUT, OLK9 sends video everyday with a report card to let you know how the day went and what may have been learned and what may need more work. I even asked for an extra video one day cause I was having withdrawals! They even let you know how Madison ate and how her poop was! Did she eat all or some of her food? Was poop solid or soft? We appreciated that a lot. The videos were only about a minute long but they are sped up so the actual real time is about 5 minutes I would say. The report cards are a few sentences or so. The day we picked Madison up from her two week stint was yesterday and Daniel was Madison's trainer throughout. He spent a solid 2 hours or so with us training us on how to continue training Madison. Now, it was a lot to take in and remember as far as commands and the remote for the collar. BUT, they send a video tutorial afterwards that is extremely handy. They send you a checklist type of email with command reminders and instructions. This company really sets you up to be successful with your pup. They also give a lifetime "warranty ". Meaning if a refresher is needed down the road, they will oblige. Not for two weeks but over the phone if they can help that way. If not, in person help is granted. You can call them with questions. I have been in sales for 20 years so I know sales excellence. This company is with you for the life of your pup. It's not like they give you your dog back after the training and you will never have any communication with them. It's like the mafia, once you are in, you are IN! You are tied together for the life of the pup. I absolutely recommend these folks. I would like to be transparent as I already have mentioned, they use an E collar. Some are against it and that's ok. I did my research on it. I was ok with it. Remember, the goal is to not wear the collar for rest of their lives. We are hoping within a few months or so, that we don't need it. OFF LEASH K9 TRAINING FRESNO AREA: Brought my 1 year old beagle in for the two week training. He loved to jump on people wanting loving, he would jump all over other dogs wanting to play with them. He would pull hard on the lease while walking, and he would keep his nose on the ground always. The door bell would ring and he was up and trying to mow us down getting to the people at the door. Not any more. He does not jump on people, he does not mow us down getting to who ever is at the front door. He walks with his head up high and watches us while walking. Well worth the money and the loss of my dog for the two weeks, I had dog withdrawal issues. Reports each day with movies and pictures. I found Off Leash K9 Training when searching for a thorough obedience program for our new Alaskan Malamute puppy (Luna). We knew what we were getting into when we adopted Luna - Malamutes are very intelligent, social, and sometimes a bit stubborn (sassy?) However, every dog has its own personality.​​ For context - We received some basic in-home training for Luna when she was 8 weeks old (by another trainer - a different company). This helped her absorb some basic commands (i.e. sit, stay, down) but she lacked structure and confidence! I did my best to utilize YouTube to train her and we did learn a few tricks BUT I am not a trainer and I needed some help! ​We wanted Luna to be fully trained, responsive, and to live a fulfilling life with us. In order to reach this goal, we needed a professional. AND we're SO glad we reached out to Matt! When my husband and I reached out to Matt, we spoke for ~45 minutes. During this call, we went over all of our concerns - including the fear of boarding, separation anxiety, and what we were looking to get out of the training. Matt was reassuring and transparent the entire time! He explained the 2-week board and train program in detail, including what it offered, expectations (from both sides), feeding requirements/how much food we need to send, and document any behavioral concerns we wanted to address. This would help Matt understand and would serve as an action plan for him to work off of. He emphasized the importance of our role in reinforcing all of the training when she returns back to us. Matt also offered to meet with Luna beforehand so we could assess how she reacts/interacts with him. Luna being the social and intelligent breed she is - immediately loved Matt! This made us feel at ease and very comfortable moving forward with Matt.​ Once we secured a reservation date, we were set! We received thorough communication about the information they needed from our vet, things we needed to send with Luna, drop-off/pick-up location, and date/time. We also received reminders the day before her drop-off. During her board/train, we received daily videos, photos, and report cards - including feeding, weight, and poop details (Yes! Because it's important to know such details to gauge how they're doing). We could tell she was well taken care of by the details in her report AND loved! Whenever we would see her daily progress videos, we would notice her tail.. it was constantly wagging! Matt was fully dedicated to Luna for those two weeks and we could clearly see the established connection and bond between the two!​​I felt informed throughout the process and never felt disconnected from Luna. Whenever I would text Matt (for non-urgent questions), he would reply a few hours later. If I reached out for anything urgent - he would call me or pick up on the first ring! On the day of her return, we met up with Matt first (before seeing Luna) to go over everything in detail. He provided several opportunities for us to ask questions - this really made us feel comfortable! He went over the e-collar as well as shared the benefits of getting an additional (prong) attachment (that is made for double-coated dogs) which would aid in establishing a better connection/response from Luna. He then mentioned he was going to grab Luna but asked us to wait and watch from a distance. I thought this was very thoughtful because he didn't want to overly excite Luna in the process of walking her over to us or cause her to injure herself in such excitement to see us. Once he brought her over, she was THRILLED! Once she settled down (a good 20 minutes later), Matt guided us through her training commands - He would first show us the command and what is expected of Luna. Then, he would allow us to do the same command with Luna (while he observed). He would jump in from time-to-time to guide us. This was so helpful! He took the time to explain what we did correctly/incorrectly, how it would positively/negatively affect her training progress, and then allowed us to do it again as practice.​​ In addition, Luna worked with Stuart (another trainer) and adored him as well! Their videos/photos together showed that Luna (not only) trusted Stuart but enjoyed working with him! Jourdan was also an integral part of Luna's progress and provided some amazing report card details!​​ Luna has been super responsive to all of her commands and is a VERY relaxed gal now! She follows her commands immediately with little reminders (she is still a puppy sometimes!) She is no longer anxious about figuring out her place in the world. Now, she fully understands what we're asking of her and that does WONDERS for her confidence! As owners, we're also confident that we've made the right decision because it has allowed Luna to feel fulfilled and purposeful! The cost is indeed an investment but the quality of life given to Luna and our family is beyond priceless.​​ read more

We love Off-Leash K9 Training and Lacey our trainer (and everyone else that worked with our guy). We sent our 10 month Goldendoodle Grey to the 2 week Training and he came back a BRAND NEW dog. It is amazing all that Lacey taught him. We love our guy, but we didn't know what to do, because he was displaying a lot of behaviors that we could not seem to control. All of those behaviors were taken care of after his time at Off-Leash. Lacey has also been so wonderful answering any questions since he has been home from training. I had no idea what I was getting into when I got my first puppy Mylo at 10 weeks old. It was quite overwhelming at first to say the least. Raising a pup alone wasn't easy, despite what I saw. Once I got my little guy using the bathroom outside I thought I was making major progress, but it was only the beginning. Little man when to puppy school and I read a few training books, but living in the city of San Francisco, being a single dog mom, and having a inconsistent work schedule made if more challenging to get my little guy in a proper training schedule. Finding Off Leash K9 training was one of the best things that happened to Mylo and I. The process of dropping Mylo off for a two week training was smooth and easy. Zak was his trainer and the daily report cards of videos and pictures showing Mylos progress was a real treat at the end of each day. I was always super excited to receive them. I was amazed by how much progress he was making day to day. He was making mama so proud. The day I picked Mylo up I could tell how bonded he was with his trainer Zak. I couldn't have been happier to see him and see all he had learned. Zak was patient with me as he showed me what Mylo had learned and all the take aways. I couldn't wait to get Mylo home to continue reinforcing the behavior. Today Mylo is 11 months old and has been doing really well with being off leash.
