Long-time favorite restaurant is going down-hill fast! Management does not care about return business and 3 out of 8 meals were awful. First, I made a reservation 3 weeks ago for a group of 8 long-time friends and it was our third time having a group of 8-14 for dinner at Off The Hook. I requested the round table in the private dining area so that we could hear each other and catch-up after 6 months. and I was assured we could have the table and room. We rechecked the reservation after having a luncheon with friends last week and was assured the reservation was in the system had no changes. When arrived for dinner we were sat at a long table in the main dining room. I checked with the manager on duty and was told that a business group was given the private dining room this morning and that management can change reservations as they see fit. Management saw no need to call and inform us of the change on the day of our reservation. To top it off, the dinner special of the night consisting of halibut was ordered by two of our group and the fish was so dry it was almost inedible. Another meal of crab cakes ordered by a member of our group was so unacceptable, half that meal was unfinished. To the waiter's credit, he comped the crab cake meal when it was brought to his attention. We will be looking elsewhere for luncheons and dinners going forward. read more

The best seafood in the area. Went with a group of 6. We all had something different and everyone loved their choice. We had crab cakes, salmon, cod almondine. , maceys salad and all were delicious. Several desserts since it was a birthday celebration; 2 were free for the birthdays and absolutely delicious from cheesecake, double chocolate tower of fudge, crème brûlée all very good. We came here on Valentine's Day, we are from out of town and took a chance on no reservation. They were booked up but were very nice and trying to accommodate us. They found us an open spot at the bar and we had a wonderful dinner and experience. My wife said it was the best calamari and Salmon she had ever had, and she has had a lot of seafood. Outstanding food, outstanding service! Hubby and I took an impromptu overnight trip to Pittsburgh from Cleveland. In researching the best places to dine near Cranberry, PA, Off the Hook was at the top of list. We were able to make a reservation, for Saturday evening, and we were not disappointed! The restaurant has an extensive wine list, I opted for a nice Riesling. Hubby and I then proceeded to order starters, grilled oysters, and shrimp, crab and lobster lettuce cups. The oysters were very good, prepared perfectly, topped with parmesan cheese, and accompanied by a grilled lemon. The filling for the lettuce cups were nicely seasoned, with an Asian inspired dragon sauce and topped with crispy rice noodles. We then proceeded to order our entrees, which are served a la carte. Hubby ordered the Rodi salmon and whipped potatoes, I ordered the Caribbean inspired swordfish, and Mediterranean salad. The salmon was perfectly cooked and lightly dressed with a teriyaki sauce and accompanied by a seaweed salad, the whipped potatoes were deep rich and creamy. On a side note, we were seated in the bar area with a view into the open kitchen. We could actually see the potatoes as they were prepared. Real potatoes, cream, butter, salt, and sour cream, hand processed using a ricer. It doesn't get much better than that! My swordfish, was perfect, nicely prepared. The star for me, was the Mediterranean salad, it was fresh, plentiful, and tossed with fresh figs, yum!!! We finished with the in-house prepared carrot cake, topped with a scoop of caramel ice cream. The cake was pillowy soft, layered with delectable cream cheese icing and drizzled with a delicious caramel sauce! This was a great meal, but what made it outstanding, was our server, Ashley! She was prompt, professional and super-friendly. Nick, who I assume was the manager, also stopped by our table several times to check on us. We will absolutely return, when in the area!! read more

I'm a very discerning seafood lover, as I am pescatarian and grew up in Miami. This restaurant offers an incredible selection of fresh seafood for a lovely dining experience. Living in the city, I don't love the idea of driving far to have dinner, but this place is worth the drive. A few of my favorites include the redfish Veracruz style, cod Meuniere, the crab cake, and Cajun shrimp. It shows that they really care about their customers. He was very nice! Our waiter was Brandon T -- 12/10! He knew the dishes that were on the special menu, and really overall a terrific waiter! Highly recommend him if you get a chance! Brandon mentioned the Maryland Crabcakes, and oh my... were they delicious! All of it was 10/10!! This was honestly one of the best meals of my life. My husband and I came here to celebrate our first Christmas as a married couple and this was the perfect spot to do it. We started out with the shrimp cocktail, which came out with dry ice underneath to create a smoky effect. It was so neat! The bread they serve is also amazing and my pomegranate fizz drink was delicious. I opted to try the Parmesan style swordfish -- I had never had this fish before, but I'm so glad I tried it -- our waitress (who was amazing) recommended it. It was decadent and did not even taste like fish. It melted in your mouth. The crab macaroni and cheese was also out-of-this world and my husband loved his steak and chargrilled asparagus. The desserts are made daily in house, and also did not disappoint. My husband had the triple chocolate latte -- a flourless triple chocolate cake served in a mug with fresh whipped cream on top, and I had a white chocolate macadamia mousse with fresh raspberries, crispy praline cookies and warm chocolate ganache poured on tableside. The restaurant was also selling its own truffle boxes -- 4 for $5 -- and pledged to donate a pair of shoes for a child in need for each box sold. Awesome idea for the holidays. Also, we were asked twice what our dining occasion was (someone in our party had clean cancer scans, others just moved cross country and started a new job, other was retiring - PLENTY to be celebrated) and it's extremely standard (in my experience) to receive a free dessert for this type of thing. If you are looking for good seafood, oysters and good service OTH will meet you requirements. Tend to stop in many times each year for lunch or dinner and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere so nice with soft lighting and tones. Service is always excellent. The bar area and outdoor patio are nice too. This visit we split a few oysters, had the wonderful clam chowder and the soft-shelled crab sandwich. One of the best soft-shelled crabs that I have ever eaten. Had some kind of cranberry vodka fizz drink. Everything was good. The mac and cheese was a little dry though. Since it was our anniversary, we got free dessert. Came here for the first time for lunch. (Our previous time was for dinner a few years back) Off the Hook was just as good as we remembered. Definitely the best lobster roll I have had. My husband ordered the crab cake and enjoyed that just as much. We both started with the clam chowder as well which was delicious. The hot bread they gave us with the meal was also excellent . Excellent place to go for oysters and dessert! We had the Wellfleet and Winanno and both were very flavorful! I would recommend getting more than one of any type of oyster, as you don't get the true flavor till your 2nd one! They have a pastry chef that creates an amazing specialty cheesecake! Mine was accented with peach, and was fluffy and delightful! I have mixed emotions on their fish offerings as they indicated they cook the fish to 130 degrees. However, my fiancé's Oscar swordfish was prepared perfectly, while my mango rum grouper was raw( both same size piece of fish) I sent it back, and it tasted like they had torched it( butane flavor) The dress code in the bar is confusing- via phone, business casual, elegant casual. However people were wearing jeans, shorts, and capris. The staff- every single one of them worked hard to make sure everyone was having an excellent time. Our soups were perfect- French onion( delightful combination of 3 distinct cheeses) clam chowder( filled with big pieces of clam with a flavorous base.) Second visit to Off the Hook. Ordered the Chilean Sea Bass again--love the fish. Wish I would have reread my previous review as it was the same. Each time the fish was cooked perfectly with great flavor but like the last time the complete dish did not blend together. This time it was a served with couscous and a red pepper, onion and Kalamata olive "sauce" with just the barest hint of heat. The waiter said it was "bright" and refreshing. Not sure he truly tried it. The chef tried too hard on this one and missed. My husband ordered the blacken red fish. It didn't have any side to it and the portion was small. Glad we ordered a side of asparagus. The asparagus was grilled, more charred though. It was tender and flavorful so we overlooked the extra char. Oh, should have mentioned that we also ordered the calamari (can never pass up the opportunity!). If the sea bass dish was on par I would have given them five stars just for the calamari. All in all, the place is classy and the staff are great but after two visits the food just isn't to die for the expense. Sorry for no photos this time. read more

We went to the restaurant for my birthday dinner. The family of four, including my 2 and 5yrs old kids enjoyed the restaurant so much. They had the best kids' menu in town. The kid's menu came in the small Togo box full of small toys that my kids love!! We ordered 1/2 dozen oysters, clam chowder soups, sashimi big-eyed tuna, Caribbean Halibut, kids' Mac and Cheese, and kids' cheeseburger and fries. The foods were absolutely delicious and our waiter, Bill was very kind and knowledgeable. We were unsure about going to this place with kids but it was an amazing experience for our family. Took our friends from out of town here for some quality seafood which was a bold move because they are from miami. Our friends were very pleased with their meals. I ordered the Big Eye Tuna Sesame Style. The tuna was very delicious, but didn't stand out in a league of its own compared to some others I've had, not to take away from it, but was pretty much as expected. The show stealer that I was very pleasantly surprised with was the Lemon Butter Soy sauce that it was complimented with. Pretty much all my favorite additions of flavor to a Tuna combined all in one. The creamy texture and salty/savory mix with the flavor of a good tuna steak made for a very pleasant light lunch.
